A former Boys & Girls Club located in Saginaw, Michigan is now abandoned. For those who did not know, this former Boys & Girls Club was once home to a school called Nelle Haley Elementary School which was operated by Saginaw Public School District from 1971 to 2008. In 2010 the school district sold property to Boys & Girls Club.
What’s interesting is that Saginaw Public School District sold the property to the Boys & Girls Club only to have them abandon the place in 2012. The Boys & Girls Club used the building for only 2 short years before abandoning the place. It is unknown as to exactly the Boys & Girls Club abandoned this former school building.
The school is not spared from vandalism. In September 2012, a graffiti piece with the captions of “R.I.P Hood A” was spray painted near a window to the front entrance. Graffiti can be seen over parts of this former school particularly on the west end. The “R.I.P Hood A” graffiti piece is still visible at the front entrance to the school.
For now, the school sits abandoned again for the second time. Only time will tell if the building gets repurposed, demolished, or vandalized. Overgrown grass and vegetation have surrounded the building. So far no windows have been broken. No known alterations have been made to either its interior corridors or exterior corridors. The interior walls and exterior walls remain intact. Its interior corridors or exterior corridors have not been modified since the school closed in 2008.
This former Boys & Girls Club & Nelle Haley Elementary School are located at 3240 Livingston Street, Saginaw, Michigan, US 48601.
