Edison Junior High School was constructed on a 3.498-acre parcel in 1924. Improvements were originally constructed in 1928 with two gymnasiums and a large auditorium. Framing for this building used reinforced concrete. The walls are a mixture of drywall and painted brick. The interior floor finish consists of: linoleum tile, terrazzo tile, hardwood cedar, and concrete flooring of course.

An addition was constructed in 1956. School building layout is large in size. By 1957 the building size was 144,062 square feet. 1,000+ students attended classes daily.
Edison Junior High School was renamed to Thomas A. Edison Middle School sometime during the 2000’s. The school was reorganized from a junior high school into a middle school. Edison Junior High School closed in 2010.
Edison Junior High School was also known as Edison School, Edison Middle School, and Thomas A. Edison Middle School. A handful of names this school had went under during its years of operation.

I went to this school in 1956 ? to 1960 I was in Hampton school when we all were going to 7th grade we all were sent to Edison Jr high I am now 74 yrs old and remember allot of fond memories from this school and some not so good too !

DeleteI went to Edison Jr. High-school in the early 1970s. It was a zoo. Infact a girl in my home economics class stole part of my Christmas center piece.
