Lil Louis – Two Sides To Every Story is a romantic electronic album written similarly in the form of a romance novel. That is no coincidence as this album was based off his 2008 book entitled "A Man's Diary” which is controversial true love story about his lifelong pursuit in finding the perfect woman who will be good to him. This album serves as a musical answer to his book. Lil Louis – Two Sides To Every Story was written from a woman's perspective. He depicts their joy, pain, anger, bravado, love, and heartache. R&B/soul meets house music on this Lil Louis album.
The recording process for this album took a few years which is why Lil Louis shied away from the music scene and his career as a DJ. What spurned the writing process of this album was Louis going through a hard breakup and when a woman interrupted a book reading. According to the producer/author, the lesson he learned in the project is, “Without woman, a diamond is just a piece of coal.” Louis is looking for love in both a physical and spiritual sense. The music follows Louis as he attempts to find a “good woman”. This is his controversial true love story. Lil Louis poured his heart and soul into this album.
Lil Louis – Two Sides To Every Story is a digital double album which was released as a digital download in 2009 to traxsource.
Feels Good Just To Feel uses a 7|4 time signature. Notice how the beats stop into the fire break. Lil Louis put his foot into this song. That flute solo will put you into a bliss.
Never Ending Song is a club banger that Lil Louis put his foot into. Truly amazing work. That looped tambourine and funky upbeat guitar is what makes this song so beautiful. The song is driven by a kick drum as most house songs are.
Songstress ChinahBlac plays, acts, and sings the role of a woman named Denise on the song Fable. Denise finds her true love from a fable during the song as she has never felt a love like this. Fable was the buzz single for this album that became an underground hit in the clubs around Chicago and New York City. This song was played in heavy rotation at the club back in 2012.
The strings along with the chimes are what make Fable harmonious and romantic. Cymbal clashes are placed during and after those chimes. ChinahBlac sings such perfect harmonies here withe her strong vocals. This is classic house music.
Denise never thought that she would live to meet same man she pictured as a boy from a make believe fantasy she had imagined in her head based off a dream. But now he is standing next to her.
She explains the pleasures and satisfactory feelings of her joy with these lyrics, “I feel a greater joy than I have ever known/Whether you love me, not just cause I'm beautiful/Finally, someone who loves me just for me, boy” Denise feels a greater joy than she has ever known. She has never felt a love like this. Denise found her true love from fable. This love feels just a like a fable.
Denise is happy as a flower in the month of May. Her love was born anew in the season that he came. Destiny is why he is making love to her. Each is a brand new brighter day when Denise is with him. She can have true love from fable even with her hopes and dreams. She has waited for him all her life. God brought him to her from fable.
I never thought, that I would live to meet
same man I pictured as boy from make believe
Just a dream, but now you're standing next to me
I feel a greater joy than I have ever known,
Whether you love me, not just cause I'm beautiful
Finally, someone who loves me just for me, boy
Feels just a like a fable, love
Once upon a time in my mind
I have never felt a, felt a love like this
I found my true love from fable
I'm happy as a flower in the month of May,
My love was born anew, the season that you came
Destiny is why you're making love to me
Each day I'm with you is a brand new brighter day,
I keep this love in me, until I bend to pray (unclear as to if this is it)
We'll always love, and like each other just because
Feels just a like a fable, love
(I'm in love)
Once upon a time in my mind
I have never felt a, felt a love like this
I found my true love from fable
I can have true love from fable (hopes and dreams)
I found fable love because I (I believe)
I have waited for you all my life (Make believe)
God brought you to me from fable
Now the Frankie Knuckles version of Fable called Fable (Frankie Knuckles Directors Cut Classic Club Mix) is absolutely sick. ChinahBlac sings such perfect harmonies here withe her strong vocals. This is classic house music.
I rate this album 4/5****!!
