
Hibbard Brothers moved Denison Grocer Company into a newly erected building located at North Houston Avenue in 1902. Moving here led the Hibbard Brothers to discontinue the use of the former locations. Denison Grocer Company distributed food to many wholesale grocers in the area. The Peanut Building was remodeled with modern conveniences in 1905. The premises occupied are commodious, comprising a large brick structure of three floors, each 60 by 160 feet in dimension. Its location a foot of Main Street and the downtown business district inside the Denison Historic East End District. (Ref: “Denison, The Texas Gateway”, 1908)
Half of this building served as quarters for Denison Nut in 1909. Their offices were located upstairs on the second floor with a fire escape for public access. Years later the fire escape was removed. That is why this building was called the Peanut Building.

In July 2019, a puppet workshop was held at the Peanut Building. Denison Council of Arts made the announcement on Facebook. “Join us for the next Calaveras Puppet Workshop Tuesday, July 30, 6:30pm. Located at the Peanut building 114 N Houston Ave, Denison. There will be a head construction demo for giant puppets by master puppet maker Steve O. Black!”

LoopNet has advertised this property for sale as a “Loft/Creative Space” several times. LoopNet listed the Peanut Building for sale several times. Denison's downtown area is now experiencing its own revitalization of commercial activity. Today the Peanut Building is zoned for mixed use.
