Mixerr Album Reviews #2,278

MC Hyst - The Early Years is quite similar to Brotha Lynch Hung - Season Of Da Sickness due to the hardcore gangsta edge and horrorcore vibe. The album has that classic Siccmade sound with eerie synths, ultra thick heavy bass, ultra thick synths, tight gangsta lyrics, and horrorcore sound. You can go wrong with production from Siccmade Muzicc. Overall the beats are sicc. The Early Years was his first album which included songs which he recorded from 1990 to 1996. Although most of the songs were recorded in 1993 which is around the time Brotha Lynch Hung - 24 Deep was released. Classics on this album include Murderfile, 50% of Insanity, and Visions of a Murder.

The Early Years was released out the trunk old school style instead of having any national distribution back in 1996 on CD. This is another one of those dope rare rap albums from Sacramento, California that got overshadowed unfortunately. This album is long out of print but is available on YouTube.

As far as production goes, MC Hyst, Brotha Lynch Hung, and Phonk Beta made beats from keyboards that allowed sounds to be loaded or used a sound module like JV1080 or JV2080 with sound cards like vintage strings etc. They used a Roland 808 drum machine and samples for filler sounds sometimes. But mostly just raw music being played on keyboards and drum machines. Those beats you hear were made by hitting the punch pads to physically make your beats in layers.

Murderfile is a siccmade classic that has beats that are hard as fuck! The beats are ultra thick and bass super heavy not to mention loud. Those beats you hear were made by hitting the punch pads to physically make your beats in layers. The vintage sound and Siccmade sound is what makes this song dope. Those beats stand the test of time. This is one of those songs you have on repeat constantly. Old school rap fans will appreciate this joint. The song is known for the violent and graphic content Siccmade fans enjoy and favor. A bit of horrorcore is added in to the song.

Murderfile was recored in 1993 and produced by Brotha Lynch Hung. This song was just a collab with Brotha Lynch Hung and nobody else. Just Lynch only. Brotha Lynch Hung just did the vocals and beats. MC Hyst wrote 90% percent of the lyrics. All the lyrics are original.

MC Hyst is rolling 2 deep, sitting with a brand new tape deck. He takes a left on El Camino. The set (gang) is on El Camino. He approached the danger with anger. But MC Hyst is cool as fuck. It’s hot as fuck in the summertime. A cloud of white smoke appears with a vicious grip. This ain’t no joke. He unloads his .9 millimeter and fires shots. He keeps on driving thinking nothing has happened.

MC Hyst is a pro that will damage you. So just take a step back and evaluate the situation. You have 3 seconds to move before he pulls out his gun and ends your fate. His shiny chrome .9 millimeter is fiending for a body drop. Them boys flew away from the scene as MC Hyst pulled his gun out. He is not taking sellouts.

MC Hyst is not just an ordinary person who blends in with the public and society. He feels no remorse for the person that claims East Sac is best. Nothing will stop him from going to East Sac. A semiautomatic weapon will make him unstoppable. I thought you knew. This is going to lead to some crazy ass shit. He stepped out the car talking about who’s click was the better click. Saying, “Fuck you click!” is a dangerous thing to say as Mr. Doctor by himself can handle everybody and fight them off. He’ll need back up from the homies. And your ass is target as well.

Not a single motherfucker trips in his hood but in the outskirts of Sacramento County everybody yelling and talking shit to get a point across. People do this to get their point across.

Suddenly shots fire from the window of a Buick. Fools are hit above the waistline. MC Hyst shoots back. People in the crowd die. This is not because MC Hyst is homicidal with a Manson Mind profile. It’s just him you have to worry about when he adds you to his murderfile.

Still up on some crazy ass shit. Here comes the cleaning of another murderfile. This makes him wild in his city. Every fool in Sacramento is acting like they’re on crack. MC Hyst plans to show to every other city not to sleep on Sac. That is what the lyrics “and every fool up in the S is actin' like they on crack to show to every other city not to sleep on Sac” are referring to. But MC Hyst is just low, down, and dirty. He ain’t trying to act shitty. Fuck every city but his. Murder and robbery are how he handles his problems. A 187 just turned into a 211. He robs a corner store and kills a clerk. He stated laughing afterwards.

Phonk Beta played a set of strings on 50% of Insanity using the sample of the Michael Myers piano sample. He also produced the beats with some outside help from Lynch. The strings follow the exact same notes and keys of that Michael Myers piano sample.

There is a version of 50% of Insanity which uses no samples. That version was produced by Phonk Beta. MC Hyst conformed that version of 50% of Insanity only exists on reel to reel format and was never converted to digital format due to a lack of funds.

Vision of a Murder is about MC Hyst’s vision of a murder. That is why you have the gruesome bloody murder theme. This is one of the graphic songs filled with violent content that is similar to Murderfile. Vision of a Murder came from the album A.O.D & Hystables - II Counts of Felony.

Lynch made the beats for Vision of a Murder in 1993 as that is when this song was recorded. The vocal sample came from X-Raided - Fucking With a Psycho.

A.O.D woke up next to a dead body like a maniac. He packs a fully automatic weapon. This is because he can’t be slipping. 2 extra clips are added on to his automatic weapon. Don’t trip when he rips your chest apart with his automatic weapon. He is about to start killing. Taking bodies to the graveyard is what he is doing. A.O.D lets bodies drop as he fires off shots.

That nigga A.O.D is from a different state of mind. What’s going on? The next thing you know A.O.D is putting the barrel of his gun to his mouth. A.O.D already sold his soul and there is no getting it back. He couldn’t deal with all these visions of murder.

MC Hyst gives back with his skills he uses from his mind. However he is losing his mind as trips off shit that is unheard of. That is because he saw a vision of a murder.

Fien'n 4 a Body-Drop backed by a looped sample of Zapp -  More Bounce To The Ounce over those Siccmade beats. Sampled used on this song were Zapp -  More Bounce To The Ounce, Sicx - High Off A Murder, and J Dilla - Do You.

I rate this album 4/5****!!
