Double Horn School started off under the names of Francis Chapel aka Frog Pond School with William H. Holland as its first teacher in 1855. The school was later renamed to Double Horn School. Double Horn School was located along the Colorado River. Double Horn School was moved near Grid Iron Creek and then to Double Horn Creek. Double Horn School had its own school district called Double Horn School Independent School District which was established in 1923.
