Platinum Hook – Platinum Hook is a funky disco album that has that platinum touch. The Motown sound of the 70s left much for the ears to be desired. Platinum Hook plays wonders whether doing a cover song or their own original songs. Highlights from this album include Standing On The Verge (Of Getting It On), Hotline, Gotta Find A Woman, 'Til I Met You
Standing On The Verge (Of Getting It On) uses a blend of P-Funk and disco. The horns chase each other during the bridge. The funky bass line and horns are what make this song inexplicably stand out. The song is a slightly faster cover of Funkadelic - Standing On The Verge Of Getting It On. Platinum Hook’s cover of this song is fantastic.
Hotline is driven by a Parliament-Funkadelic styled horn selection over a drum kit. That is where the P-Funk element comes from.
Gotta Find A Woman is an example of perfect modern Motown soul from the 1970s. The song was serious underrated and overlooked for its time. The song uses one funky ass bass line. The long version of this song is the best version.
'Til I Met You is a mellow song which calms the mood down for this album. The song has a jazzy feel due to the saxophone and piano which are used. Jazz meets the sounds of soul music and disco on 'Til I Met You in a romantic manner. Not surprising since this is a song about romance. The song is about sweet love. You’ve never had a love so sweet until you’ve heard this song.
Lover What You've Done (To Me) is a mellow song with a vibe similar to 'Til I Met You.
I rate this album 5/5*****!!
