Long Point Drive Cave is actually a bottomless pit that is less than a foot long in length. The pit dead ends after more than 3 inches. Possibly 9 inches. Now Long Point Drive Cave is located on a rock shelter which transcends into an extremely steep slope that is inaccessible. Elevation of Long Point Drive Cave is 18 feet above ground level.
Long Point Drive Cave is located within the same vicinity of West Rim Cave off West Rim Drive and Burney Drive. Both of which are located on Barrow Nature Preserve. Just less than a mile north of the intersection of Far West Boulevard and Mesa Drive. Long Point Drive Cave is one of the many caves located in the Central Austin area.
Long Point Drive Cave, West Rim Cave, and Cotterell Cave are a part Central Austin KFR being that these caves are located in the Central Austin area. However Long Point Drive Cave and West Rim Cave are not protected under BCCP and are not owned by the City of Austin or BCCP interestingly enough. Long Point Drive Cave remains intact.
