A short glimpse at the history of San Fernando Cemetery #1 in San Antonio, Texas.

San Fernando Cemetery #1 is one of San Antonio’s oldest cemeteries. San Fernando Cemetery #1 aka San Fernando #1 was established by the Catholic Church around 1751. There are the famous and infamous people buried in San Antonio's historic San Fernando Cemetery #1 such as signers of the Texas Declaration of Independence, Jose Antonio Navarro and Jose Francisco Ruiz. Also the longtime mayor of San Antonio Bryan Callaghan. Many founding members of San Antonio are buried in this cemetery. Colonists from the Canary Islands are said to be buried here as well.

San Fernando Cemetery #1 is currently owned by Catholic Archdiocese of San Antonio.
