History of Lockhart Mercantile explored.

The Lockhart Mercantile Company bought the old Masonic temple in 1926 which is when that organization moved into their new quarters. Lockhart Mercantile Company had the building remodeled and painted that same year. (Ref: https://www.newspapers.com/newspage/384277513/)

Lockhart Mercantile is now home to Chisholm Trail Ballroom. The building’s first floor was the Lockhart Mercantile Company. The second floor, now the location of the Chisholm Trail Ballroom, was the county’s first Masonic Lodge. A mural in the Ballroom commemorates this part of the building’s history.
