History of the Beck-Spillman Family Cemetery in Austin, Texas explained.

This news article will explain the history behind one of the lesser known cemeteries of Austin and Travis County known as Beck-Spillman Family Cemetery. Beck-Spillman Family Cemetery is also known as Spillman Family Cemetery and Spillman Cemetery. This is a pioneer family’s cemetery.

 

 

The Beck-Spillman Family Cemetery was established on their 640 acres of farm land when Colonel Joseph Beck died on October 22, 1919. He was buried at Spillman Family Cemetery. (Ref: https://issuu.com/peel_inc/docs/1810lad)

 

Spillman Family Cemetery has at least 13 burials. Most of them dating back to the 20th century. Many of Spillman's descendants still live in the area, and many have been buried in the Beck-Spillman Family Cemetery, also known as the Spillman Cemetery and Spillman Family Cemetery.

 

The burials are located inside the wrought iron and rock enclosure of the Beck - Spillman Family Cemetery but are outside of their individual burial sites. The stone columns which surround the cemetery were built from stone salvaged from the family homestead. There are a total of 13 graves and markers. Beck-Spillman Family Cemetery is managed by a non-profit called Spillman Family Cemetery INC and continues to be. There is also a marker issued by the State of Texas which explains the history of Beck-Spillman Family Cemetery.

Caottages at Spillman Ridge are pursuant to an agreement between the applicant and the Spillman family.  Spillman Family Cemetery shall be maintained on at least a quarterly basis by the homeowner's association formed for governance of the tract.
