History of Terrell Hot Wells in San Antonio, Texas explored.

Terrell Hot Wells is one of the lesser known hot sul­phurous springs of San Antonio, Texas. Terrell Hot Wells was  a hot springs which contained sulfur and radium. In 1908, The Commercial West reported that in the past 10 years Terrell Hot Wells have been used by thousands of people. The waters varied considerably on analysis. By this time Terrell Hot Wells was known for having flown warm sulphur water at a temperature reported to be 108º F degrees. This made the Terrell Hot Wells a desirable hot spring. Terrell Hot Wells had not only sulfur but radium in their springs. You read that correctly.  Terrell Hot Wells had radium in their springs. Terrell Wells Company was well aware of this chemical being present in the springs but allowed people to use the springs anyway. Terrell Wells Company released this information to the public in a pamphlet titled “We Want to Tell You about the Terrell Hot Well: The Well that Contains Radium, Terrell Well Company”. Terrell Hot Wells had their own street car line and trolley line which went all the way out and took train loads of people to the resort area during the early 20th century. Accordion to the Austin American-Statesman, a baseball field was built at Terrell Hot Wells for major league baseball teams in 1926. Terrell Hot Wells was also used for sports events such as baseball games and swimming competitions. (Ref: https://www.newspapers.com/newspage/366330851/)
