Mixerr Album Reviews #960

This is Michael Mixerr. I am reviewing Angie Stone - Black Diamond tonight.

If Angie Stone and her record company released her Black Diamond album in 1999 instead of 1996, the album would have seen more success in the spotlight. Music critics panned this album to be a stellar debut effort. Black Diamond received an average yet well received 4/5**** rating by music critics. Soulful sultry poetry was becoming new at the time. But yet this album was overshadowed by the pop market. The pop market is what led the album to be overshadowed. So Angie Stone and her record company had to suffer from that setback. Maybe if the album was titled Trials And Tribulations Of Angie Stone the album would have sold better than it did. Angie Stone refers to Black Diamond as a soul album rather than an R&B album despite the sounds of modern R&B prevalent in the production sound.

This album is based on a woman’s intuition. Love and glory are the elements of her story. A woman’s life has ups and downs, trials and tribulations, and of course let’s not forget, joys. A woman’s life also has passion. It’s all about the trials and tribulations of Angie Stone. Angie Stone refers to Black Diamond as a soul album. Her reference fits accurately right because soul music does sooth your soul. She uses sultry soul music to accompany her poetry with a touch of modern R&B that’s offered by the production team.

I rate this album, Black Diamond, 5/5*****!
