This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will review 5th Avenue - 5th Avenue Sampler.
5th Avenue was a group that one hit R&B songstress Blu Cantrell was apparently in during the early 2000s. They were all signed to Arista Records. 5th Avenue was a combined venture between Teddy Riley and his former group Blackstreet. On this sampler, 5th Avenue tries to bring out the best in them with their theme sultry soul ballads. Teddy Riley produced most of this. Contemporary R&B meets smooth tropical jazz with soul music.
Chauncey Black features himself on the exclusive track All About You which features some of the Blackstreet members on backing vocals. Soul meets smooth jazz on All About You. All About You is a fine example of Contemporary RnB. Teddy Riley and Chauncey Black take credit for most of the track.
What I'm Looking For incorporates the interpolation of I Don't Believe You Want Get Up And Dance (Oops) by The Gap Band. 5th Avenue say you got what I'm looking for.
Come My Way is a song strictly for the bedroom during a late night romance. Come My Way is a song one would expect to see in the bedroom late night in a romance film. Chauncey Black makes yet another feature on Come My Way. This song also incorporates the interpolation of I Don't Believe You Want Get Up And Dance (Oops) by The Gap Band.
Sacrifice is a short yet sweet song about the sacrifice(s) made in love. Love life is filled with such sacrifices.
I rate this album, 5th Avenue Sampler, 3/5***.
