Bennie Banks – Play By Play is a gangsta soul album where hip hop meats gangsta rap music with a touch of smooth soul that is not too sultry. Overall the toughness of gangsta rap match up with the smooth soul balancing out the gangsta rap with the soul sound from a musical point of view. Play By Play is an album composed, written, and produced by Bennie Banks. All 18 tracks were composed and produced by Bennie Banks.
Bennie Banks released this album on a joint venture through Dangerous Records and Bar None Records. Play By Play was released from a Bar None Records/Dangerous Records joint venture. Bennie Banks - Play By Play came out in 2003. He signed a one album deal with Dangerous Records in the summer of 2002. The album took a year to complete.
Bennie Banks is Benjamin Allen who comes from the East Side of Los Angeles, California. He is a producer, songwriter, composer, and vocalist.
Born In The Hood (I'm Die In The Hood) is how Bennie Banks is going to live and die in a hopeless cycle of poverty. He lives a life of hopelessness in the ghetto as there is no chance for him to make it out of the ghetto. No, Born In The Hood (I'm Die In The Hood) is not a rags to riches story. It’s about living a life of hopelessness while entrapped inside a hopeless vicious cycle of poverty. He thinks because he was born in the ghetto that he will die in the ghetto. The hook is a masterpiece. Anything by Bennie Banks can be recommended for DJs!

My Love is a short sweet mellow love song written, composed, and produced by Bennie Banks. Bennie Banks uses his Soprano voice on My Love. He showcases himself very well on this love song of his. The hook is a masterpiece. My Love samples The Stylistics - Stop Superior Carry.
