Mixerr Album Reviews #1,675

The Christal Methodists - Scripture Lips & Filter Tips has the most repulsive, sexually explicit, and controversial album cover artwork in the history of underground rock. The album cover artwork is a crude drawing of a woman inserting a Christianity cross into her vagina. She spreads her vagina open to insert the cross. She appears to be using the cross as a dildo for vaginal stimulation or is using the cross as an of masturbation. And this is drawn over a light blue background.

The soundscape is an abundance of garage rock and underground rock with spoken word performances. What you hear are actual recordings taken from live AM radio from the heart of Texas. The Christal Methodists have a dark outlook and perspective of Old Testament talk radio. The Christal Methodists preach authentic scriptures from the Old Testament. The sound is very 90s of course since it was released in the mid-90s.

Have Mercy On Us is packaged as a Methodist Christian prayer using scriptures from the Old Testament book. Dr. Dubbs adds an exciting new flavor of rock music to this Christian prayer. This song is something similar to what you would hear from the Melvins.

American Anti-Crustacean League is a rock song which cites Old Testament scriptures. Dr. Dubbs and Herr Ribs provide the sound effects of discipleship. American Anti-Crustacean League uses samples of fundamentalist Christian advertising from AM radio.

Divine Surfers is a surf rock song which uses a religious touch of Christian fain. Herr Ribbs is riding the powerful waves of faith. Herr Ribs is immersed in the meaningfulness of this wave of faith and the whole song itself.

Holiday in Somalia is cover version of Dead Kennedy’s Holiday in Cambodia and is The Christal Methodists take on Holiday in Cambodia. The Christal Methodists do an excellent job on covering this song even if so many rock bands over the years have covered Dead Kennedy’s songs.

Impregnated By The State is about an epiphany Debbie Dachau had. After Debbie Dachau experienced the Second Coming of the Lord or in her case Second Coming of the Lard, She believes a believers temptation towards sexual sin is redeemed through the body and bloodied. The track can be described as an energetic exercise track.

Nose to Nose with Satan uses samples of fundamentalist Christian advertising from AM radio. The other samples came from a troubled teen hotline. God’s Anvil is an apocalyptic Christian rap song with a snappy nationalist vibe. The tempo is 120 BPM. Reverend Hicks delivers a fiery Christian sermon on God Knows Everything for our listening pleasure.

I rate this album, 5/5*****!!
