Clusters of daddy long-legs bouncing around Fern Pit Cave in Austin, Texas.

Daddy long-legs are bouncing around the inside of Fern Pit Cave in Austin, Texas as the summer heat commences. Several clusters of daddy long-legs can seen bouncing around the further you go deeper inside of Fern Pit Cave.

Daddy long-legs are usually seen in remote quite empty spaces during the summer season. This because daddy long-legs thrive in quite a secluded environment in remote locations away from human life. These species of spiders known as daddy long-legs prefer to hide from the summer heat in secluded areas such as caves, rock shelters, sinkholes, and pits. Daddy long-legs are commonly found in caves, rock shelters, and sinkholes.  


Species of daddy-longlegs, spiders, mosquitos, can be found inside of Fern Pit Cave since Fern Pit Cave located in the Jollyville Plateau range which is part of the rugged and beautiful terrain of Western Travis County. This species of spiders are among several insects living in limestone fissures. Many limestone fissures can be found in Fern Pit Cave.

Fern Pit Cave is known for having massive amounts fern growing both the inside and outside perimeters. Fern grows on the western portion of this cave. Fern can be found growing inside of this cave. The outside perimeter of Fern Pit Cave is surrounded by many oak trees, cedar breaks, and fern. This cave is entirely hollow with only plants and insects inside.
