Proof that Koffee Kup Kafe in Hico, Texas was a meeting place for Ku Klux Klan exposed.

This news article will prove that Koffee Kup Kafe in Hico, Texas was a meeting place for Klansmen from the Ku Klux Klan (KKK). Rumors, myths, inaccuracies, and misinformation with be debunked.

The Koffee Kup Kafe was known as a meeting place for the Ku Klux Klan to locals in Hico, Texas during the later end of the 20th century. The Waco Knights of the Ku Klux Klan would use Koffee Kup Kafe as a place for their monthly meetings and had been doing so for nearly 3 decades. That was until 1990.

By 1990, Koffee Kup Kafe had stopped letting the Waco Knights of the Ku Klux Klan post their handbills and fliers on their window space. Back in 1990, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram confirmed that no store volunteered window space for a KKK handbill. However Koffee Kup Kafe decorated with 80-year-old photographs of Hico in its heyday as a bustling cotton-producing and ginning town which included a photographs of a murder and a photograph of a lynching. Back in 2012, The Odessa American confirmed that Koffee Kup Kafe was formerly known as a meeting place for Klansmen and had changed its name from the Koffee Kup Kafe (formerly known as a meeting place for Klansmen) to the Koffee Kup Family Restaurant. This was because Hico was trying to change its image. The Odessa American called Koffee Kup Family Restaurant “one of the most popular restaurants”. Hico, the county seat of Hamilton County, had been long thought of as the seat of the KKK in Texas. Or at least the seat of the KKK in Central Texas. Cross-burnings and rallies were sometimes held in the park lot of Koffee Kup Kafe until the City of Hico enforced fire ordinances beginning around 1990. And Hico, the county seat of Hamilton County, long thought of as the seat of the KKK in Texas, is trying to change its image.
