The Koffee Kup Kafe was known as a meeting place for the Ku Klux Klan to locals in Hico, Texas during the later end of the 20th century. The Waco Knights of the Ku Klux Klan would use Koffee Kup Kafe as a place for their monthly meetings and had been doing so for nearly 3 decades. That was until 1990.

By 1990, Koffee Kup Kafe had stopped letting the Waco Knights of the Ku Klux Klan post their handbills and fliers on their window space. Back in 1990, the Fort Worth Star-Telegram confirmed that no store volunteered window space for a KKK handbill. However Koffee Kup Kafe decorated with 80-year-old photographs of Hico in its heyday as a bustling cotton-producing and ginning town which included a photographs of a murder and a photograph of a lynching.
