Revisiting the Australian wildfires of early 2020.

This news article will be a recap about the wildfires in Australia at the beginning of 2020. Several tragedies occurred throughout Australia due to the wildfires. Around 12 million hectares of land had perished during the wildfires in January 2020. An estimated count of 200 people were killed in the wildfires.

There were more than 200 fires burning in Australia at the beginning of 2020. Officials called this a "mega-fire”. This “mega-fire” is the worst natural disaster in Australian history. Much worse than any natural wildfires than ever before. At least 30 people have been killed and 2,000 homes have perished into flames. Those are just the people we know about from the body count that has been confirmed.

The Australian state of New South Wales has been hit the worst by this natural wildfire. New South Wales has been hit the hardest and is the most severely affected by this “mega-fire”. Winds continue to push the fire towards New South Wales. The coastline of New South Wales seems to be affected the worst by the wildfire moreso than inland New South Wales. 10 million hectares (15.6 million acres) of forest have perished into flames from this wildfire. 130 fires were burning in the Australian state of New South Wales on the date of January 9, 2020. 50 uncontained fires have burned many national parks.

Inland New South Wales was severely affected by the wildfires. The coastline of New South Wales was severely affected as well. More than 300 homes were destroyed along the coast.

The Australian state of Victoria has been affected the worst by this “mega-fire” as well. 1.2 million hectares of land have perished into flames. Wind continues to push the fire towards Victoria while firefighters continued to put out the wildfires. There were more than 20 fires burning in Victoria.

Victoria ranks 2nd in terms of being affected by these wildfires while New South Wales ranks 1st. Other areas in Australia such as New South Wales, Victoria, Blue Mountains, and Bairnsdale have been affected in similar ways.

Bairnsdale was the least affected by the wildfires. Although 3 people were killed by the wildfire in Bairnsdale.

Dry weather conditions are to blame for these wildfires burning Australia. Wildfires occur during several months of dry weather. Australia is no stranger to wildfire. The country has been combating wildfires for centuries.

This environmental issue was remedied and taken seriously. Several politicians and celebrities donated several thousand dollars to help put out the wildfires in Australia. Pink donated $500,000 dollars to help put out wildfires in Australia.
