Selby Hood - Patience (demo) album review

Patience is a hood classic filled with melodic tunes laced gangsta rap verses with funky drum beats. Songs in this album uses a hodgepodge of samples from television ads in songs such as Life and The Drunk. This Selby Hood album has some of the finest, pure and unfiltered raw gangsta rap to ever come out of Flint, Michigan.

Despite the low quality productions and low quality sound of the Patience album, the listening experience for this album was quite enjoyable. If you give this album a chance by listening to it, you can relate to the pain, experience, stories, and messages Selby Hood is giving out then you'll understand why I recommend this album for any of the underground rap fans out there. 95% of the albums that come out today don't even come close to holding a candle to the Patience album. That's real talk!

This Selby Hood shit is quite eerie brooding and similar to Esham with his acid rap style that is not very common. A handful of rappers from Flint were copying the acid rap sound before Jake The Flake came out with Flint Thugs Compilation in 1998. Selby Hood is an example of that grimey acid rap.

With that said… Everyone in Selby Hood and from Selby Hood was bumpin' this cassette tape back in the mid 90s! Whether it be in traffic at the stoplights, in the park, living room, inside the dance halls, or just in the bedroom. Many rappers and rap groups were trying to mimic the acid rap sound of Esham, Natas, TNT, Hasan The Sinister, Dice, Snypaz, Bone Skanless, and The Dayton Family.

This album was released on cassette from Black Sunshine Entertainment back in 1995. Patience was produced as a demo cassette before becoming an album. The cassette was teal colored and manufactured by Disc Makers.

Selby Hood was a local gangsta rap group that originated from the former Selby Elementary School located in the Northside of Flint, Michigan in 1991 which consisted of six dudes named Gargamel (Melvin Nappier), Cutt (Curtis Nappier), Mike Jarrett, Macy Dre (Broomstic), Cheese, and D along with more members from Selby Hood.  Selby Hood is an enterprise of the rawest rappers and gangsters of Flint. Selby Hood is located on the Westside of Flint, Michigan.

Selby Hood had changed their name from Selby Hood Productions on their previous debut album Get Yo Booty Licked from 1992 to Selby Hood in 1995 on their sophomore album Patience in order to modernize with the changes in musical style. That album was filled with booty rap and sex rap filled with symbols of sexism along with the baby mama drama. Selby Hood had mimicked the style and culture of Miami bass for the Get Yo Booty Licked album.

Life starts off the Stress side of the Patience cassette. It is a Broomstic solo where only he performs. Life is all about the experiences and situations that members of Selby Hood face everyday on a daily basis. Life is often filled with stress and depression. Sometimes aggression. Life is filled with emotional rain. No matter what the downfalls are in life we must keep uprising.

The song starts off in a chopped and screwed style of music at the very beginning. The song starts off with the following lyrics, “playa hatas been in my face for a while/but I’ve been peepin’ it for a while, crocodile”

The chopped and screwed intro to Life breaks off into a disruption of laughter and talking. Chatter and conversation goes for about just longer than a minute. The song finally starts 30 seconds into the song. Broomstic finally gets started at 2:06 into the song.

Broomstic does not have a driver’s license and platy of warrants out for him because of his criminal behavior. Life is just life to him. He shows hatred towards the Flint Vice cops and Flint Vice Squad. He isn’t going to put his life on pause for law enforcement. Also he is looking for white chicks as he wonders who’s going to suck his erect dick next. The bills got him ill.

All Broomstic wants to do is live his full life the way he wants to. He wants to do whatever he wants. So many niggaz in Selby Hood done changed. But he will always stay black and alway be a hippi. He will always remain a member of Black Hippiz. He lets niggaz know they can’t fuck with him.

Broomstic is tired of being broke while living in a miserable cycle of poverty. He does not want to sell dope. Sometimes he gets so depressed. Broomstic gets moody if he is not stoned. It’s him. Broomstic get lit and fuck a bitch. You only get one chance in life. Life is just life.

Broomstic is optimistic about how many chances he has in life. He wonders who is going to tell the tale of his life. However he won’t tell anyone shit. Also he wonders if it will be the end of him if he ever catches a felony. To avoid any legal drama, Broomstic will give police an alias or a fake name. Flint Vice Squad is something he has no love for as they have no love for him. Time is getting shorter and so is his life. He wants time with his kids.

He tries to make it in this life by getting wasted. He wants to get paid off his rhymes and get stoned under the blacklight until it’s his time to go. Life is just life.

The end of Life resolves by using a religious Church of Christ television ad. This television ad says, “There’s a time and procedure for every matter. The life of Christ.”

On Stayin' Alive, Gargamel explains why his life is caught in a freestyle due to his criminal lifestyle. This song needs a 2015 remake. It's still relevant today. Stayin' Alive and the rest of the Patience album needs to be remastered.

Gargamel needs a job in order to be father his child but his life is still a drag because his life is caught in a freestyle due to his criminal lifestyle, but meanwhile Gargamel blazes up a joint up for the day and hope he exceeds and excels before he ends up in a jail cell during a sentence of incarceration. But Gargamel makes bail and gives his homies a call. He says "Fuck all ya'll that's waiting on my downfall!". He knows somehow things will never change.

The price on the narcotic drug called cocaine now has a bigger name for itself since it's inception from being introduced to the United States by the CIA. He keeps focusing on his goal. That's his aim. No one knows his lows or if he has sold his soul. So open your eyes and never try to hide your pride. It's 95 and it's all about stayin' alive henceforth the song title so on.

Patience is the title track for this album. Patience is about patience of course. In life we must learn to have patience. Patience is a virtue we must have as humans. That is how we get by without getting stressed.  We deal with patience on a daily basis. The song uses funky synths and heavy beats.

Gargamel told them people there was going to be no tomorrow, but people did not want to believe him. Now they will see for themselves. Gargamel felt the time had come to give these fools a peace of his mind.

His woman got him caught up in this fuck shit by getting him into such a predicament. Now Gargamel knows his lows and can’t trust no hoe. He gets his dirt done and puts in work even if it’s do or die. He still hits those same corners wearing a black mask and gloves during robberies. Those niggaz from Selby Hood will burn your ass like 151 Bacardi.

Gargamel is tired of waiting and debating about what is going to happen next. He wonders if he is going to hell or a jail cell. Overall his life is just a mess. He wants someone to take him out of his misery by putting his black ass to rest. Every breath that he takes is murder in the making. He asks Jehovah to bless his soul. He realizes everybody dies at some point. Gargamel tells us all we need is patience throughout the song.

I Wanna Fuck is about sex of course. I Wanna Fuck is the successor track to Get Yo Booty Licked from the Selby Hood album entitled Get Yo Booty Licked released back in 1992. The Selby Hood Posse is horny as fuck and want to find some chicks to have sex with.

The Drunk is an interlude which uses a hodgepodge of samples and vocals to keep up with the theme of drunkenness. The song revolves around a drunk man singing only to have Gargamel egg him on. Of course the singing is terrible and very off key.

The very beginning starts off on a radio station being switched to another station hence the static and distortion. A drunk person soon begins singing. This lasts for a bout a minute. Gargamel tells him, “Nigga you drunk.” The interlude ends with the Happy Birthday song. Right after the Happy Birthday song is where a television ad airing the tale of a drunk driving incident is played. The sample is from a video of Miranda Stanford’s 3rd birthday party. A narrator highlights that Miranda Stanford was killed by a drunk driver.

The song Black Hippiz is also known as Black Hippiz Funk. The song is a mid tempo song that was recorded in 1995. This song also appeared as a hidden track on the Black Hippiz albums Life Sex Death and Dead Rezidentz.

Cutt is trying to stay alive. It’s nothing new. He’s still the same old hippi. Cutt tells us the year of 1995 is the year of blowin’ up on the scene. What goes up can keep going up as Cutt will be around to keep up the Black Hippiz sound.

Gettin' Low is the first posse cut at very end of Stress side of the Patience cassette. The Gettin' Low track starts off with distorted thunder and depressing piano notes playing in the background. A bird chirps. Low pitch vocals are added into the haunting sound clips of this erroneous track. However high quality sound kicks in real quick. Gettin' Low is very similar to Esham with his acid rap style. The whole track is quite eerie and brooding similar to Esham with his acid rap style. A handful of rappers from Flint were copying the acid rap sound before Jake The Flake came out with Flint Thugs Compilation in 1998.

Getting low as hell off a case of bud and 5 Rickey Rue’s. Fire up the Freaky Live cassette. (Freaky Live is Flint's most wack group next to Took-N-Bone and Raw Deal.) Dogs from Selby Hood will make a loc want to get ooted. No pills or angel dust. Getting burned up with red eyes. Board the Z-Train to take a low ride with niggaz with big triggaz. Weapons are involved on this posse cut despite the typical drug references. It's no clean effort for the radio.

Gettin’ Low is the get high track of the album. So pass the nigga with the big bag o'light. Let me hit it after you. I thought you bitches knew that Broomstic can't be faded. Gettin’ Low is all about getting high and drinking alcoholic beverages.

Flint Niggaz is the second posse cut at very end of Stress of the Patience cassette. 5 funky motherfuckers are gonna flow for ya'll. We got The Living Dead, Bugsy, Pistol Whip, Nickel Bag, Stikxz, and Gargamel at the very end. This Selby Hood posse cut uses a funky selection of Afro-centric percussion.

They explain growing up in the Selby neighborhood in Flint, Michigan wasn't easy. Growing up isn't easy. Tales of dope sales are told. Not to mention the gritty raunchy sexual references. Getting out of the ghetto, tales of poverty, and escaping poverty are sort of the main theme for this posse cut. Gargamel ends this cut by saying "Flint niggaz are the wrong ones to fuck with." That's Gargamel's warning to us.

Pain starts off the Depressed side of the Patience cassette. The mood of this particular track is frankly quite depressing. The Native American Indian flute music really give Pain a smooth mellow chilling feel to the album to the dark brooding mood album. Step all over this shit.

Pain is all about feeling the stress and depression of dealing with pain. Gargamel wants us to feel the pain he has been going through in his lifetime. He has to stay alive and away from those evil spirits that he recognizes. He hopes the Lord forgives him.

Gargamel welcomes us to his world. His pain is much worse than a migraine. Shit gets so deep. Is he losing his mind from a dong a dark side creep. This lady from the Criminal Justice department of Flint Police wants Gargamel to this. Gargamel looked into her eyes and said, “My life is such a mess, you bitch” He is not at peace until he lays deceased. Fucking around with Gargamel can get your ass kicked.

The Michigan Mitten is in full effect on the song Sometimes what with the heavy bass and all those beats. The beats and bass stand out heavily.

It’s hard to make an honest working a job living especially when times are hard. D has kids that need some Similac. That’s why he would rather be deceased buried next to all his other homies. He used to brag about the things he never had, but life has been a drag since his buddy died. His homies know his pain. But no pain, no gain. That’s the way life goes sometimes.

Gargamel caught a case last night after murdering a cop. Damn! What’s the deal? He wonders how much longer he can live before he gets himself killed. He feels so much agony to the point where he wants to be buried alive. It was due to the cop he murdered that he feels so much agony.

Somebody said some shit that almost drove him to suicide. One day he was feeling mad as fuck. He can’t trust himself. But that’s what you get sometimes when acting hard.

Back On My Feet uses samples from a Scarface movie over Afro-centric beats that are rhythmic and funky. Beats, bass, samples, and percussion are what stand out on this Selby Hood song. The song is about getting back up on your feet regardless of what situation happened to you before. The song describes what goes on in the criminal infested streets of Selby Hood.

The beginning uses a sample from a Scarface movie. Scarface puts an end to all drug transactions by prohibiting them without him being involved. He wants in on all the action.

Gargamel grabs all the dope and money after a drug transaction after shooting. He just ate but is still kind of hungry. He keeps his gun loaded incase someone were to run up on him. He’s not dying if he can help that. Gargamel tells us he has to get back on his feet. He has to keep his feet on solid ground.

Cutt grabs his gat and starts blowing peoples heads off. He needs to get back on his feet so he does a jack. You know Cutt don’t give a fuck. Now it’s time to look for Cheese. Cheese is selling weed. Selby Hood kicked a lot of ass in the past.

Listen to the rhythm of the rain. Can you feel Cutt and Gargamel's pain? When it rains, it does pour. Black Hippiz must require it to rain everyday. So pass the nigga with the big bag o'light. Let me hit it after you. I thought you bitches knew that Broomstic can't be faded. Broomstic really went off flowed very good on this rap track. Cutt and Gargamel did too.

The beats used are on rain are rather thin but are super dope. If only the time and duration of Rain were extended longer, then the song would be even more enjoyable. Honestly Rain was too short of a song to have fulfilled enjoyment in.

Nuts is another posse cut on this Selby Hood album. They explain how they have balls to do the things do. All Selby Hood niggas got nuts. Gargamel felt the time had come to give these fools a peace of his mind. It was time to start chopping niggas down in the game.

Moonlightin' has a mournful vibe and a feeling of sadness along with a mood of darkness. The song is ridden with heavy bass that will knock your speakers!

It is nighttime and the moon is bright. Gargamel starts wondering if his life is what it used to be. To him, it’s not too easy being a hippi. He’s getting older. It hurts when he falls. His life is getting shorter as he lived it by the sword. He can’t afford all the things that he wants to get. He missed all the things in the hood. Gargamel is an OG from Selby Hood. Don’t be down for his state of depression. The middle of the song deals with the deaths of his homies.

It’s sad that his life is drag. He has to brag about the things that he’s never had. Gargamel is trying to make it to Alma Street (Alma Avenue) from Selby Hood to pick up a couple of pills to ease the pain inside of him. And maybe ride past Gracelawn Cemetery off Saginaw Street to throw up the peace sign to his dead homies from the past time. That’s his life. His life is nothing but life. The past times make Gargamel sad sometimes. So he tries not to think of yesteryear.

He parked his car at vertically towards Gracelawn Cemetery. Then he jumped out and put on some shades to cover his eyes from the moonlight.

Mike Jarrett is a minute long solo song of a spoken word performance performed by Mike Jarrett. Mike Jarrett was a member of Selby Hood. The song uses a slow tempo jazz sample that is perfect to play at nighttime if you are in the mood or wanting to get into the mood.

Brothers 4 The Struggle - Frantic In The Inner City Ghetto album review

Frantic In The Inner City Ghetto is the debut album from Brothers 4 The Struggle which became an underground hit in Cleveland, Ohio and nationally in 1991. This album of their has politically conscious songs that raise awareness to the community. All of these songs raise political awareness and are socially conscious. Yet many people slept on this classic hit of an album. This album was originally released on vinyl in 1991. The CD and cassette versions came out in 1994. The album was released by Rampage Records and Progress Entertainment.

Not too many people mention Brothers For The Struggle (Brothers 4 The Struggle) when bringing up Cleveland hip hop. Brothers For The Struggle hails from Cleveland, Ohio. (East Cleveland to be exact.) Brothers For The Struggle was the first rap group to put Cleveland on the rap scene next MC Chill, Cochise, and Johnny O.

The Intro uses a samples from the New Jack City movie with quote from the character Nino Brown. This is the quote from when Nino Brown testifies in court.

“I’m not guilty. You're the one that's guilty. The lawmakers, the politicians, the Colombian drug lords, all you who lobby against making drugs legal. Just like you did with alcohol during Prohibition. You're the one who's guilty. I mean, c'mon, let's kick the ballistics here: ain't no Uzi's made in Harlem. Not one of us in here owns a poppy field. This thing is bigger than Nino Brown. This is big business. This is the American way.”

Chop Chops is the follow up to their first local breakout hit Back in the Day (Ready Rocks) off of their first EP Straight Outta Cleveland in Full Effect that was released on cassette in 1990. Chop Chops is Back in the Day (Ready Rocks) revisited. Chop Chops is a hip hop/rap tale of Brothers For The Struggle uplifted themselves out of poverty by selling cocaine rocks. A classic from the OH10.

Reggae music meets hip hop on Chop Chops. Chop Chops is a reggae infused hip hop song with a dancehall type sound hence the ragga type sound. The timeless reggae sound never gets old. The beats are fairly upbeat and so is the tempo. You can feel the bounce in the beats as you listen to this song. Notice the little strings and keyboard accents they throw in every now and then. You can hear the reggae vibe inside the strings and keyboard that is used.

It’s Over was a hit among fans in clubs all across Cleveland. The samples used are David Porter -  The Masquerade is Over, Grover Washington Jr. - Mister Magic and Staples Singers - I’ll take you there. The bass line samples Staples Singers - I’ll take you there. It’s Over is classic Cleveland hip hop!

Paycheck calls out the school to prison pipeline in his raps. For example, “Ever since 8th grade I was groomed to be a lyricist/with a style of speech that had emphasis/and more lyrics than I knew what to do with” “When dope was imported in the states/they’d rather have a sucker for the system than a brother like me” The justice system and the rich people that run the United States would rather have Paycheck in prison than him have a free mind and being well educated.

Paycheck shows no fear in his raps. “The Lord is my shepherd and I shall not fear” The Pratt Attack makes a lyrical attack next. He’s just as good if not better. Brothers For The Struggle has funky lyrics for you whether you’re high or sober. Brothers For The Struggle is too intense for games because it’s over.

All Rise uses the sample of Barry White - Never Gonna Give Up over a small bass line. Volume for this song is set very high. So take caution. Pratt Attack was on another level back in the days because he was telling the truth. Icey D used to play this song regularly on his mix show on WIZF in Cincinnati, Ohio.

Freedom of speech makes Pratt Attack a minister. The image Pratt Attack projects in considered sinister by society and social standards. People get nervous when Pratt Attack raps. Society can’t handle truth coming from Pratt Attack’s month.

KracKKa Season deals with how racial profiling of black people by police. This song uses samples from James Brown - The Big Payback. Various soul samples are used throughout the song.

Brothers 4 The Struggle are on their way to Toledo, Ohio. Suddenly they are stopped by police. Quik said, “What is this?” Police tell them it’s a routine check. Ali tells police they are not dealers smuggling in drugs and they don’t even use drugs. Brothers 4 The Struggle are alive thanks to them listening to word from Minister Farrakhan from Nation of Islam.

They soon realize they being racially profiled by police. Sadly they end up getting arrested and into a scuffle. Paycheck is mad.

Down In The Valley is a Paycheck solo. This deals with how drug problems plague Cleveland. The song deals with problems that plague inner city ghettoes.

Down In The Valley takes place in the neighborhood of Hayden Avenue & Woodworth Street. All kinds of fiends live there. A fiend played himself by loving on a double edge sword, but at the same time he took a brother’s life. It was one of Paycheck’s brothers. This fiend takes advantage of smoking a crack pipe.

A Message From Michael McGhee borrows a vocal sample from a news clip where Michael McGhee speaks. For those who did not know, A Message From Michael McGhee is actually a 22 second skit.

He discusses how guns are aimed at the black community. He discusses social issues of black on black crime. He feels the guns need to be turned around at some other people so they can get injured and feel the pain. Michael feels that other people need to feel the pain and not just black people. The skit resolves with Michael saying, “There can be peace.”

Niggas Scared is about how black people of revolution. Black people are scared of political revolution and social revolution. It is one of the social and political issues black people face.

It’s getting frantic in the inner city ghetto on the song Frantic. The song mainly deals with drug transactions Brothers For The Struggle are planning to make. They plan on making drug deals. The song deals with problems that plague inner city ghettoes.

Brothers 4 The Struggle - Back On The Scene EP EP review

The struggle continues with the Back On The Scene EP by Brothers 4 The Struggle. This is their comeback EP that was released in 1992 after the success from their debut album from 1991. Pratt Attack is all over this Brothers 4 The Struggle EP as shown on the front cover. This EP of theirs has that golden age hip hop sound with bits of turntablism incorporated. Heavy beats can be heard throughout this entire EP. Yes, this EP was manufactured and printed by Disc Makers.

These Hos' Don't Know We Da' Brothers uses a bit of turntablism when manipulating vinyl cuts, sounds, and sound effects over samples. The song itself is a Paycheck freestyle.

The story of Brothers 4 The Struggle is sold and not told on These Hos' Don't Know We Da' Brothers. Drama unfolds if they are flexing as they are stone cold. They do not have time for suckers. Brothers 4 The Struggle are the real brothers. Not them broke folk tale tellers. A lot of suckers overlook and underrate them.

And now that Brothers 4 The Struggle has a couple of tapes out, people are beginning to call them constantly. Their name alone causes controversy. Paycheck can crash a concert set on stage with rhymes from his raps. Paycheck causes controversy as well by himself.

The Devil Came To Cleveland is one of the rawest Cleveland rap songs from the 90s. This B4TS song has the same beat as Bone Enterprise - Hell Sent. Paycheck and Pratt Attack were the rawest on this B4TS song. B4TS gets in touch with their religious side on this song which is why you hear references to the Lord, the Devil, Jesus, and Satan.

Paycheck shows no fear in his raps. “The Lord is my shepherd and I shall not fear” The Pratt Attack makes a lyrical attack next. He’s just as good if not better. Both of them are Cleveland legends. The city of Cleveland was in awe when this song dropped.

Back On The Scene commemorates the comeback of Brothers 4 The Struggle for 1992. They enjoyed the fruits of success off their first full length album from 1991. The song is about how the group enjoyed their local success and fan reception. Brothers For The Struggle has funky lyrics for you whether you’re high or sober.

An Al Wilson is used intensely throughout the song. Back On The Scene samples Al Wilson - Show and Tell and was recorded in 1992. 2Quik mixed and engineered the song.

We Will Drop U uses the samples of Steve Miller Band - Fly like an Eagle, Queen - We Will Rock You, and Isaac Hayes - Hyper. This song was influenced by the sound of 70s rock. We Will Drop U is an OH10 classic performed by these Cleveland legends.

Brothers 4 The Struggle - Scandalous EP/single review

Scandalous/Prodigal Son was an EP/single released on vinyl in 1996 by Rampage Records to promote their then upcoming album No Hard Feelings. The single was distributed by Solar (Dick Griffey). 2Quik mixed and mastered the single in Cleveland Heights, Ohio.

Prodigal Son is a rap song with Afrocentric sounds and percussion. The song is Christian themed with references of Christianity inserted on occasion. Accapella, singing, and percussion are what give Prodigal Son an Afrocentric vibe. The raps, production, and heavy bass are what make this B4TS song wonderful. Background vocals are done by Rev. J. Edwin and Theresa Jones. Rev. J. Edwin performs a spoken word at the beginning. The song samples the classic soul cut Down n’ Out while sampling the lyrics “nobody wants you when you’re down and out”. Overall the beats and bass are dope. The beats are fire!

Prodigal Son is an Afrocentric rap tale of a man who had 2 sons. The younger son wanted a share of his estate now before the father died. The father agreed to split his wealth between his sons. A few days later, his younger son packed his belonging and traveled far away to a distant land. He wasted his money on partying and prostitution.

Pratt Attack is on the outskirts of Cleveland forsaken and lonely. He hasn’t eaten in a week. So he is comatose and bony. His friends don’t want him around nor do they want to associate with him. Pratt Attack does not look for handouts. The sooner Pratt Attack left, the whole neighborhood dissed him. He is aware that his only alternative is to seek a job occupation. This won’t work as he is not presentable. Pratt Attack compares himself to the prodigal son.

He is so far gone that you could not hear him with a microphone. Pratt wants money so bad. He wants his old life back so bad. Don’t nobody want you when times get hard. Your long lost friends will act all chummy like everything is good and they didn’t abandon you in your time of need. Then they act all concerned. The reason why Pratt was gone for so long is because he was strung out on cocaine. His friends reacted real strange upon hearing this. He asks, “My brother, can you spare some change?”

As for the other son, Jimmie got grown and got his own life. So he went back home where he belonged because he did wrong. He dropped down and started praying. He started paying real close attention to what the preacher was saying. Praise God. It turns out he’s like the prodigal sun. Looking for love in these streets where there was not any. Jimmie stunted his spiritual growth as a Christian. Praise God. Jimmie came back to church.

When he had a whole lot of money, he had a whole lot of friends. When his money ran out, his friends ran out. Thing got so bad that he decided to go back home.

No Hard Feelings has some dope beats and heavy bass that will rattle your speakers. The beat is so dope to where you will be nodding and beatboxing as the song plays. Cleveland rap can’t any doper than this! Funk meets rap on the song No Hard Feelings.

Look what the wind blew in. Come take a closer. It’s the Pratt Attack! Pratt Attack gives the listener(s) what they have been missing because the new shit from Brother For The Struggle is off the hook! It took a little time but it’s all good.

Never confuse the Pratt Attack for a sucker MC. Let’s be honest. He’s slick. He’s so slick you couldn’t pour him on anything. Just like Bill Bixby. All you silly motherfuckers check his flow. So don’t try to incorporate your style with Pratt Attack’s. So no hard feelings.

People said the future for the group called Brother For The Struggle is in doubt. Just because Pratt Attack caught a case for distribution of crack cocaine. Pratt Attack told us when he left he’ll be back. Now look who’s got the slickest record playing.

At the end of the song is where Pratt Attack gives shout outs to some Cleveland OGs of rap such as Johnny O and Cochise.

Scandalous is a song about how members of B4TS are living a scandalous life. The song has that gritty raw Cleveland sound of hip hop and rock.

Paycheck is already on parole and is avoiding the police. He is avoiding the police because he is living a scandalous lifestyle. It seems that police have it out for him which is what the lyrics in the song are implying. One of the other members is wanted for murder. The murder was a result of a fight gone wrong.

Iron Fortress - Iron Fortress album review

The Iron Fortress album was released on German metal label called Hellion Records in 1996 and was issued on CD. The album is filled with heavy metal rock of which metal heads will enjoy for the years to come. You can feel such angst and prowess as you listen to their album. Sadly this is the only album Iron Fortress ever recorded. Which is a shame because they could have released numerous albums by now on Nuclear Blast. In fact, their debut and only album is something you would expect to hear from Nuclear Blast.

The beginning of Reach For The Future starts off with a soft delicate piano solo which lasts for 30 seconds. 32 seconds into the songs is where the tempo picks up. That’s where things start to pick up as that is where the heavy metal begins.

As day comes to end, night falls. We all hide ourselves from the world. We persistently look forward towards the ongoing future as we cling onto the past. The past hides behind metaphorical mirrors. Fear lingers within humanity. It doesn’t help that fear is inside our instincts. We use religion to gather the truth as morality touches the heart and soul. Religion requires that there be morality.

Whispers In The Wind is the calm song for this album. The song kicks off with a soothing flute solo. Honestly this song should have been placed at the very end of this album on the tracklist. It would have been more appropriate that way in terms of timing.

The song questions if our Gods still exist. Their whispers have floated through ages. Generations ago it was sacred and filled with the Gods. Their whispers have been with us spiritually. Can you hear the whispers? Carry the hopes of your people. Be strong and proud.

Our warriors graves sit abandoned into this sacred ground. Carved into this sacred ground. Do their spirits still dance in the night? Do our gods still exist? Still have power? Can their visions lead us to the light? Can you hear the whispers in the wind? Calling time and time again. Their guidance has brought us through the ages time and time again.

Eye of the Storm is an adventure themed heavy metal song. Iron Fortress experiments with the adventure genre on this song of theirs.

The timeline of their adventure takes place on a dark stormy night. They are sailing across the ocean in search of bigger prey and to invade foreign lands without warning. Destiny is the wind as they stand alone in the ocean. They are on a voyage as they sail into the eye of the storm.

All Iron Fortress lives for is voyage. It’s just one more voyage across the ocean before they go into battle mode on foreign lands.

There is a time and place to die on the song My Time To Die. This song has a sad mournful vibe to it. A piano solo playing during the chorus and beginning gives this song a mournful vibe of course. My Time To Die is a death themed heavy metal song.

All our creations we've built begin to decay by the end of our days. We leave behind all of those who loved us. This is my place when it's my time to die.

Jag Panzer’s The Fourth Judgement album review

Jag Panzer’s The Fourth Judgement album is an overlooked German rock album that seems to have not gotten as much media recognition. This rock album is filled with themes of despair, rage, and tyranny. You can feel the angst and rage as you listen to this album.

Call of the Wild is about who the next hell bent rebel is going to be crowned the king. It’s survival of the fittest on this Jag Panzer song.

A hell bent rebel is looking to be crowned the next king. This rebel is looking to control all. This rebel was raised on leather and was weaned off on war. This rebel is a sadist. However this rebel is on a power trip. A hell bent rebel overload.

This rebel is a sadist who gets turned on by inflicting pain onto other people. An accustomed taste of leather and latex seems to have been acquired. Controlling people in a torturous manner by using a whip is what one of their kinky fetishes are. Sadistic tendencies run in their bloodline. That is what the following lyrics below mean.:

Raised on leather, weaned on war
A hell bent rebel overload
The gleam of a spike, the stain of blood
All the power contained in a raging flood

Skin tight latex is my sin
Crack of the whip, I love to sting

There is a theme of despair on the song Despair. The shakes of fear have you bound into a chill of terror. You find yourself in a circle of despair. Down into the depths of despair you go.

The song Recompense looks at all the fears and tears from the past years. As humans we tend to culminate all the forces of this life and hold them deep inside. There are lessons for all to learn. We must be brave enough to make another way in life.

4/5****!!
