Jon Connor - Unconscious State album review
Jon Connor’s album Unconscious State is the album which gave him an international buzz via the internet. The album was released as a digital album through Amazon, Spotify, and DatPiff. His album is filled with electronic new school rap sounds.
Design and artwork for Unconscious State resemble an acid trip. The solid colors used for the background are similar to backgrounds you would find on a Jimmy Hendrix album cover. Think about it. No wonder Vehicle City looks like an acid trip. The album cover is an acid trip. His album covers look like they’ve been shoved up his ass especially the Vehicle City one.
The sad part is the censorship of the purple skinned woman’s breasts on the lefthand side of the album cover. Apparently Jon Connor likes censorship. That’s sad. The other downside is that Jon Connor raps too fast at times over loudly displaced samples on Unconscious State. His samples overlap his vocals.
American Pie is where Jon Connor reminisces his school life. He takes us back down memory lane through his own memories.
Jon Connor talks about licking booty and eating ass. Which is not surprising because Jon Connor licks booty.
[Verse 1: Jon Connor]
Come with me if you will, if I could take you back in time
Back in high school, hitting skins was the only thing on my mind
Eleventh grade, boy, you couldn't tell me shit, I was in my prime
Moms blocking your cell phone, tired of girls tying up the line
I mean, I spent so much time trying to get ass and, yeah, I did
Now the rest of the first verse is nothing as it is the usual baby daddy drama.
He used the word “nigga” all over the place on The Sarah Song. Overuse of the word “nigga” is what killed this song and made things annoying. Especially with the first part of this song. The first part of the song is where he overused that word.
Also Jon Connor seems to be biting off Twista’s rapping style and flow. How unoriginal is that? He is not Twista nor will he ever be him. That’s just not going to happen.
Jon Connor overuses the word “fuck” to death on the song F'N Right. He uses the word “fuck” 65 times throughout the entire song. That shows you where his level of education is really at. Jon Connor is retarded.
Jon Connor wears diapers, has an infantilism fetish, and has an obsession with journals. Not to mention his scat fetish. It’s really sad that Jon Connor has an unhealthy obsession for journals, scat, and diapers. Jon Connor now lives in Hollywood (Hollyweird) where he composes rap songs about journals, urinals, gerbils, dairies, diaries, and poop. He doesn’t care about little people like us anymore.
Jon Connor should change his name to Jon Bonner or Jon Boner. Jon Connor has no respect for artists from his hometown. His attitude towards Flint rappers and Michigan as a whole is very arrogant and disrespectful. It’s gotten to the point where he lost his buzz and has become overrated. Jon Connor is a diaper wearing booty licking sellout. Jon Connor is one of the wackest rappers from Flint. The Dayton Family is gangsta and Jon Connor is retarded.
Ø/5.

North Side Nation - Pimpin' The Nation album review
The North Side Nation - Pimpin' The Nation album is filled with gangsta rap similar to Top Authority and acid rap similar to Mastamind. Each track is filled with grim reality. Some of the songs have dope beats such as Back Against The Wall and Insane. North Side Nation should have dropped a second album. Yeah some of the beats were wack, but at least it's not Freaky Live, Grip Manson, or Took N Bone.
North Side Nation was a rap group from Flint in 1994. They had produced their own music. Kenny "K-Mill" Miller of Raw Deal was in North Side Nation. North Side Nation is from the same hood that Freaky Live is from. North Side Nation is from Jamieson Street in Dewey Park (Dewey Hood).
That Back Against The Wall track was absolutely bananas! The bass was super heavy speaker rattling bass and he beats were quite indeed quirky. Back Up Against The Wall was the best track on the Pimpin' The Nation album! This is one dope ass gangsta rap freestyle! This track is filled with grim reality.
K-Mill and C-Dubb really showcased their real lyrical talents. That's the type of shit I'm talking about! Tales of killing, pimping, drug dealing on a daily basis, and just driving are a way of life on this track and in the city of Flint, Michigan. Back Up Against The Wall is track to listen to while your bouncin' on Dayton rims down Saginaw Street.
K-Mill calls out the US government for all their evil doing and political corruption on Pimpin The Nation. He says the government is a joke. The government lies about their taxes. They think the whole country is dumb. He is tired of legislative lies. So ask yourself, who pimping the nation? K-Mill wants the public to start questioning the government when they break the law.
K-Mill isn’t paying taxes as he is selling crack. He doesn’t wanna work. He has a grudge and death wish against government leaders and officials.
Life in the Ghetto is a dark themed acid rap track. Notice deep bass at the very beginning. K-Mill and the rest of the other members spit game to us and tell us how the ghetto really is. The realities of the ghetto are quite filled with such harshness and hardness.

Troy NōKA - Gotta Rep The Town album review
Producer and rapper Troy NōKA represents (reps) the town of Austin, Texas to the fullest extent on his album called Gotta Rep The Town. This is no coincidence as he is from there. He wrecks each track in such a lyrical manner. His rapping style is so raw, gritty, and lyrical. Troy NōKA raps about old school subjects with a new school hip hop vibe. GRTT is short for Gotta Represent The Town. The album was released online in 2014.
GRTT is a song where Troy lyrically wrecks his raps. They’re so good. Lyrical is one word to describe this song.
Troy keeps to himself these days. He always had trouble speaking up when he need help. It's all family when ya going with the flow. They wish death on ya soul soon as you tell them no. Troy tells the fakers to leave that fake shit at the door.
The lyrics “Hit Stubbs in the summer grabbed the mic and I wrecked it” are a reference to Summer 2014 tour where he killed everything lyrically at Stubbs which is a popular barbeque joint (BBQ) in his hometown.
He’s been around. But he’s gotta rep the town and hold down the city. He’s gotta rep his town even when not around. He’s not coming back until he gets paid. (Or at least until November.) R.I.P. to DJ Screw and all the legends who have passed on.
Are we lazy or shit are we just being helpless? We are focused on where the wealth is that we never take our time to look inside and see the riches is in who you helping. There is not o comparing he real treasures in your rareness. So stay focused.
His lyrics actually rhyme as is the case with many rappers of today. Read an excerpt of the lyrics.:
“You couldn't be me if you were my twin/Southside stay on point like a pen yea”
Troy is learning the game so fast to the point where he is about to kill the game so slowly. He doesn’t talk much as gossip is not for him. You won't beat Troy NōKA as he is Mayweather in the ring undefeated. Troy wins so much that people think he’s cheating. Knowledge is power.
Let It All Work Out sounds very much similar to a Travis $cott (Travis Scott) song due to its trap sound. Trap beats are used in the hook. The song is very futuristic sound due to the electronic style production and trap beats which are used. Let It All Work Out samples Sampha - Indecision.
Troy flows hot like summer. He shines like Cassius Clay with the jab. He’s knocking people down to the slab with his lyrics.
Here is what the lyrics “Jesus turned water to wine/Watch me turn hustling to cash” refer to:
John 2:1-11 talks about how Jesus tuned water into wine the first of the signs though which he revealed his glory. Troy will turn nothing into something by hustling and will reap the rewards of money for his hard work.
Troy is on his way to get some thousands while trying to get millions. He’s thinking big in other words. He plans to buy a couple of houses and put chandlers in the ceilings. This is for his future children.
You can’t knock someones hustle for trying to make something from nothing. Troy won’t knock the hustle of his friends for trying to make something from nothing either. Or the hustle of people he knows closely and dearly. That is what these lyrics mean.: “For all niggas that's hustling/Can't knock my niggas that's dealing/Tryna make something from nothing”
He raps about how he turned out. He’s seen people move to Los Angeles get lost and turned out. He’s willing to give it all. That's the only way he is going to get it. You can keep talking or live it. Go hard and no hand outs. Stay positive. You gotta take what's yours in life. It’s never given.
S-type Memories is about memories of a car Troy has own. An S-type is a car which is a brand/type of Jaguar.
The premise of this song is Troy being stuck in the past. He is in love with his vintage Jaguar. His Jaguar is a forest green with the caramel dashboard. All of that shit is classic. In 2006, Troy drove all the way to Kansas City from Austin.
The following lyrics are a reference the book by F. Scott Fitzgerald called The Great Gatsby.: “Now I'm looking classy/Troy Gatsby”
His thesis is to not fuck with bitch niggas. These niggas hating on him like police. But these hoes keep distracting him.
Now he is in his Jaguar going 80 mph on Route 80 trying to get home. Memories in the fast lane. His leather seats are so soft. He is playing Lil Wayne in his S-type. He can't wait to get off work. His tired of working for the man. He is trying to live large and spend stacks in Japan.
Somehow Troy can't pay the rent off. He receives an eviction letter on his table. Life feeling like a rip off. Momma asking him why he dips off. There ain't nothing back in Kansas. Troy would rather take his chances in Austin. Next week he gets his advance. He couldn't pay rent because he had to make payments on the Jaguar. Troy told the dealer hold that he had to cop the Jaguar. He should of kept that 10,000 dollars in his pocket. That's the cost of stunning.
Still on his way to Austin. Troy’s not going back broke. Nope. Can't let the kinfolks down. His family line on the line.

Lil Louis & The World - Journey With The Lonely album review
Lil Louis & The World - Journey With The Lonely is much better than your average 4/5**** electronic album or house music single. The sounds of acid house music meet dance music on this album. One thing is for sure is that this album is still ahead of its time today. The house music today cannot hold a candle to this album. It stands the test of time in today’s music and climate. Lil Louis is a genius. He sure has a unique eclectic taste in music.
Do U Love Me is the bonus track for this EP that can also be found on the album Journey With The Lonely. Do U Love Me samples Taana Gardner - HeartBeat and Freedom - Get Up And Dance. Joi Caldwell’s vocals were sublime on this song.
This is a wonderful piece of house music which can be considered a classic deep house song with a bass line that will get you every time you listen to this song. The kick drum kicks in after the first verse and the snare drum that kicks in after the second verse. The bass and drums will have you bounce around. It is both hypnotic and melodic. The song is nothing short of emotionally tugging.
The song explores regret in seeking confidence from a friend. Read Verse 2.:
[Verse 2]
In my soul I always knew
That I dared to ask of you
Who’s a friend, I would regret
So I live with my secret
Somewhere singing signs of spring
Whispering a melody
But before I’ll spread my wings
Will you answer candidly
[Chorus]
If you love me
Take me higher and higher (x2)
The fifth verse seeks for truthfulness. Read Verse 5.:
[Verse 5]
Hold me baby
Here’s what I say to you
From my soul (From your soul)
I’m asking you (Just be true)
Dancing In My Sleep came from the 1992 album Journey With The Lonely. Joi Cardwell was the lead vocalist who wrote this song. Her vocals are sung in perfect harmony. Lil Louis himself did not write this song. Lil Louis produced the beats himself. Dancing In My Sleep is one of the lesser known songs from Lil Louis.
Dancing In My Sleep is about awakening to a new world with eyes wide in search of something new. Reaching for our dreams. The first verse highlights this at the very beginning. Take a look.:
[Verse 1]
Once upon a time
When things were new
Our eyes wide
We saw the world anew
We sang our songs and we danced along
Reaching for our dreams
Now it’s been so long since our view was clear
And our dance we walk through like sleep
Imagine dancing in your sleep. You toss and turn trying to break the mold. Someone lovingly reaches out to you. Pushing you to grow. Others tell you not to change and to stay the way you are. Now it’s time to ignore them and shake to a different dance or groove. Verse 2 highlights the encouragement of growth. Take a look.:
[Verse 2]
Oh
Fitfully
I toss and turn trying to break the mold
Lovingly you reach out to me
Pushing me to grow
Others tell me not to change
to stay the way I am
But I’m itching to move
Time to groove
Time to shake to a different dance
Now the chorus explains how to shake this mood by watching for something new. Read the chorus to find exact details.:
[Chorus]
I’m dancing in my sleep
Waiting for something new
Im dancing in my sleep
Waiting for just for you
I’m dancing in my sleep
Waiting for something new
I’m dancing in my sleep
Waiting for just for you
I’m just dancing
Trying to shake this mood
You’re My Reason is a mellow tune with a mid tempo pace. The song is Chicago house music at its finest. You’re My Reason is one of the lesser known songs from Lil Louis. Funny How U Luv is also another one of the lesser known songs from Lil Louis.

Lil Louis - French Kissing E.P. EP review
Lil Louis - French Kissing E.P. is one the lesser known EP’s from Lil Louis. His EP was released on 12” vinyl in 2008 from Mathematics Recordings. People slept on this EP by Lil Louis. It did not receive the attention it deserved.
French Kiss is the song which made Lil Louis an international underground house music sensation French. Kiss is the song which was an underground house music sensation on an international level. As a whole, French Kiss is a 10 minute long electronic music based instrumental blended with a mixture of house music and techno. This song defined Chicago house music back in the 1980s. It’s perfect acid house jam.
The orgasmic part of the song is the best part. It’s the part with the female moaning. That’s the most sexually explicit part of the record and is considered to be the most memorable part of the song which leaves a long lasting memory in people’s minds.
Nyce & Slo uses a repetitive house soundscape. The song’s tempo transitions from downtempo to mid tempo pretty quick. Tempo transitions back and forth from downtempo to mid tempo and back downtempo. The song had people acting wild and crazy on the dance floor in not just Chicago, but in other countries across the globe. Nyce & Slo is a fine example of Chicago house. Of course Nyce & Slo is a very sexual song and a straight club banger!
The repetitive nature of this song many annoy listeners and detract them away from listening to this song entirely. Of course this might cause listeners to skip the song completely which is understandable.
Tony Humphrey co-produced this song with Lil Louis in 1989 just before the release of his debut album. Peter Black is the person playing the piano and Lil Louis is in charge of the vocals.
Vocals change as well as frequency is changed throughout the song. The woman’s voice who is saying “Boy boy boy” is soon muffled over by Lil Louis saying “okay okay okay”. This is because Lil Louis and Tony Humphrey were trying to give us a futuristic electronic experience with club music. The bass line is muffled pretty cleverly.
Jazzmen is a Lil Louis song where the sounds of jazz music meet acid house music. The song is an instrumental for the most part. The saxophone solo is on point and so is the trumpet solo.

MJ Freeze - I Be Sidin' (Side to Side) single review
MJ Freeze - I Be Sidin' (Side to Side) is a product of early Sacramento hip hop and rap from the late 80s. This single has that West Coast rap feel laced a touch of East Coast hip hop and a handful of funk. The funkiness is what really stands out. This single was released as a 12” vinyl single on Jet Set Records and was distributed by Quality Records from New York City, New York.
MJ Freeze is one of the lesser known rappers from Sacramento, California compared to his peers Brotha Lynch Hung, C-Bo, X-Raided, Marvaless, T-Nutty, Foe Loco, First Degree The D.E., and Phone Beta.
I Be Sidin' (Side to Side) incorporates rap lyrics, funkiness, and tuntablism in one song. I Be Sidin' (Side to Side) samples the funky West Coast classic One Way - Cutie Pie.
MJ Freeze has homies all over the world. He has the posse behind his back when he steps into the place. MJ Freeze was born a player. He clowns on suckers hard. To all the girls, MJ Freeze will rock your pants if you give him a chance. If she don’t call when he beeps her, she can cold get on.

Right N' Exact / Tha Hated Family – Split Single single review
Right N' Exact / Tha Hated Family – Split Single was released as a vinyl only single in 1999 strictly for DJs. Only 1,000 copies were pressed onto vinyl. It was a limited edition split single with Hated Family one side and Right N' Exact on the other side. This split single is one of the most overlooked products from San Antonio hip hop and rap. Not many people outside of San Antonio, Texas know about Tha Hated Family.
Here is what the Right N' Exact side consists of.
Da Mornin' Afta is about the good old days. Days where you did not have to worry about danger. The song also deal with a how a woman keeps on sleeping with man who is a criminal that is abusive to her. In reality, the real reason why this woman keeps on staying with this man is because she has low self-esteem. By the end of this song is where she takes him to court for non-payment of child support. She didn’t look down the path she chose in life. The song is ridden with doodooism. Heavy bass and heavy guitars. A few samples are thrown into the mix. Da Mornin' Afta was produced by Seven-One.
Dragonz is a saxophone driven hip hop/rap song. Mic-P lets his lyrics loose on the mic like a 12 gauge. Skratch This is close to a minute long song chalk-full of samples and sound effects perfect for DJs to use. Instrumentals are added as well.
Here is what Tha Hated Family side consists of.
Imposters is a song where Tha Hated Family accuses bandwagon rappers of sounding like Bone Thugs N Harmony. Hip hop has changed for the worst. At least in their eyes. Their raps are the same and have no concept. Tha Hated Family tells all these new school rappers to rap something original. The song uses a sample from a The Police song.
Truth Is Truth is a bass ridden rap song performed Tha Hated Family. Tha Hated Family discusses how they are battling emcees on the Southside of San Antonio, Texas. For some reason, the song played centered more towards the right speaker instead of using a balanced stereo mode of 50/50 on both channels.
