Eddie S. ‎– La Revolution EP EP review

Eddie S. ‎– La Revolution EP is a politically inspired house EP by Hispanic engineer Eddie Sancho bka Eddie S. This EP is much different from any of the other house EPs in the world of electronic music due to the political theme of Viva La Revolution. Politics aside, almost anyone can enjoy the deep smooth house music of Eddie S. anywhere. This EP is filled with sample based house music.

Viva La Revolution is a politically inspired house track with a barrage of hard hitting heavy beats over colorful funky electric synths. Hence the “¡Viva la revolution!” sample all over this track. The "ho ho ho" vocal sample in Viva La Revolution was sampled from the 1983 song Visual - The Music Got Me. Overall Viva La Revolution is a very hypnotic house track due to the synths and vocal samples.

Viva La Revolution is a very unique house track due to its political connections to the term “¡Viva la revolution!” , a Spanish cry for political regime change. Viva La Revolution is a battle cry for revolution.

The Scream was produced by Todd Terry. You can feel his influence and presence when you listen to this deep house track. This song is less laid back than Viva La Revolution. The volume inside the vocals are much louder than Viva La Revolution surprisingly.

Hear Da Sound is a techno influenced house track due to the synths and blips used. The track will remind you of an early Moby album, MD III, or Kraftwerk. Hear Da Sound is filled with sample based house music that you will find interesting and calming. This track is more laid back than all of the other tracks that are included on this EP.

Lil Louis ‎– French Kiss/Club Lonely single review

Lil Louis ‎– French Kiss/Club Lonely was released in 1997 as a 2 song single on 12” inch vinyl by Epic/Sony. Included on this single are the international house hits French Kiss and Club Lonely. French Kiss/Club Lonely was released as part of the "Mixed Masters" series.

Lil Louis is what defined Chicago house music back the 80s and 90s. Nobody produced, arranged, or wrote house music like Lil Louis. He was the genius and connoisseur of house music in Chicago, Illinois. As a matter of fact, this is one of those records which defined an era.

French Kiss is the song which made Lil Louis an international underground house music sensation French Kiss is the song which was an underground house music sensation on an international level. As a whole, French Kiss is a 10 minute long electronic music based instrumental blended with a mixture of house music and techno. This song defined Chicago house music back in the 1980s. It’s a perfect acid house jam.

The orgasmic part of the song is the best part. It’s the part with the female moaning. That’s the most sexually explicit part of the record and is considered to be the most memorable part of the song which leaves a long lasting memory in people’s minds. French Kiss is a sexually provocative house hit.

Club Lonely was the international club hit which revived Lil Louis name into the 1990s which gave him popularity at the earlier end of the decade. It’s another song which made Lil Louis an international underground house music sensation.

This song defined Chicago house music back in the 1990s. The song is a mixture of house music and techno. It’s a perfect acid house jam. Acid jazz meets house music with sensuous melodies. The melodies are sensuous. Sensuous melodies are what made this song a dance hit for 1992. Club Lonely stayed at #1 on the BillBoard Charts for a few straight weeks in summer of 1992.

Club Lonely was a song written for the lonely people who were part of the lonely generation. Lil Louis was well aware of this when he wrote Club Lonely. The song is perfect for this lonely social outcasts of the world.

Club Lonely is the club that worldly people love. Club Lonely is the place for broken hearts is where players hang apart and the lonely people congregate. You’ll find happiness and love among the rest if you go to Club Lonely. Listen to the music and the sound. The beat makes you move in the groove. So work on in the groove down at Club Lonely. Listen to the laughter from the crowds. That will liven up your mood.

Kaskade - The Calm album review

The Calm is one of Kaskade’s lesser known albums. The album was distributed independently with very limited pressing by Quiet City Recordings in 2006. This Kaskade album has a more downtempo ambient sound which is quite calming. Now the deep house sound and vibe are still there though. One has to wonder how in the blue hell this album has not been released digitally yet.

Now some of these songs do not have any lyrics to them because they are instrumentals. The songs that are instrumentals are McCammon and Remembering Rufus. Finn Bjarnson played the guitars on these instrumental songs and some of the programming.

Soft Upon The Lips is about unconditional love. Unconditional love is being with the one you love forever. You cannot image such a thing until you met that person. Contrite and unconditional are two words to describe Soft Upon The Lips. The song is short and sweet.

The song Nobody Else is a representation of loneliness with the song about being by yourself on a lonely night. Tonight there is nobody else around. You are with yourself. It’s one of those lonely nights. Nobody Else is a downtempo deep house song.

Stay, This tells a tale about how Kaskade has found an idealistic woman who he can’t date because both of them are a far distance from each other. Distance is what’s preventing them from being together and keeping them from seeing each other. Kaskade is far away from her.

Surrender is an uplifting song about aiming through hard times and chasing emptiness away.

Eddie S. - The Nightlife EP EP review

The Nightlife EP is a Todd Terry influenced Eddie S. EP which was partially mixed by legendary house master Todd Terry himself. Eddie S. mixed the rest of him own EP by himself with no outside help or any in-house producers. He took control of all the songwriting too. This EP is quite smooth and hypnotic.

Why Fall? is a Lil Louis inspired house track hence the Lil Louis sample. You can obviously tell that Eddie S. was influenced by the sounds of Lil Louis just by the way he sampled his vocals ands songs all over this track. Lil Louis influenced a lot of house musicians, DJs, and producers back then.

The song Why Fall? contains samples of Lil Louis - I Called U (The Conversation), Lil Louis - I Called U (Why'd U Fall), and Lil Louis - I Called U (But U Weren’t There). Vocal samples and bits were taken from an acapella of the 1992 house hit Lil Louis - Club Lonely. Some of the instrumentation sampled Lil Louis - I Called U (But U Weren’t There).

Find A Friend has that unfiltered classic deep house sound from Eddie S. himself. Heavy bass, thin cymbals, and thick beats. The thick bass blends in perfectly with the deep house sound. The bass and beats are what really stand out.

Find A Friend is one of the smoother songs on this EP which has a hypnotic sound that will put you in a trance. Three words to describe Find A Friend are hypnotic, smooth, and classic. This is because the song has that classic deep house considered to be smooth by many house heads out there. The song is perfect for the club and dance floor.

Get With U was mixed by Todd Terry but written by Eddie S. himself. You can hear the Todd Terry influence obviously. The thick bass blends in perfectly with the deep house sound.

The Spell is one hypnotic track which uses looped synths and thin beats. This song has a more progressive sound which leans more towards electronic music than house music. Progressive is one word to describe The Spell.

Benjamin Damage ‎– Up / Acid Bath single review

The Benjamin Damage ‎– Up / Acid Bath single was released as a digital download in 2014 in 320 kbps MP3 format to the internet. This single was released on the 50Weapons label from Germany. Techno meets electronic music on this Benjamin Damage single. Benjamin Damage programmed some of the songs on this single using his newly acquired analogue TB 303.

Up has that new high definition techno sound in terms of production. The beats and synths are fairly thick. Up is one of those songs that will put you into a trance despite the fact that Up is not trance at all. Those who label Up as trance are not musically inclined.

Acid Bath has that acid techno sound with those upbeat electronic synths and keys. The electronic synths and beats stand out. The song uses a nice build up of beats, synths, and blips. The song Acid Bath uses an audio quality of 128kbps. Fans of electronic find Acid Bath to be enjoyable despite the low quality. Benjamin Damage used his analogue TB 303 to program the beats and synths.

Techno lovers will enjoy the sound of ETI Rework. ETI Rework uses a hint of bitcrushed distortion.

Benjamin Damage - 4600 EP EP review

The 4600 EP is one of Benjamin Damage’s techno influenced EPs that got overlooked in the electronic music genre. Techno lovers will enjoy the sound of Benjamin Damage. 50 Weapons released this EP as a digital download in FLAC format in 2013.

Techno lovers will enjoy the sound of Benjamin Damage’s song Recursion with the bleepy sounds and all. This is one of those songs that will have you in a hypnotic trance. Think of techno from the 90s when you listen to Recursion. Heavy bass, several blips, and numerous synths used.

Nebula uses a more mellow sound that calming. The angelic synths give the song a calm vibe. The song seems to use a multitude of synths.

Techno lovers will enjoy the sounds of Revolve because the repetitive loops used. The synths, beats, and bass are looped while using a multitude of synths. Notice the nice buildup in the middle. This is one another of those songs that will have you in a hypnotic trance.

Dino - 24/7 album review

Dino - 24/7 is similar to the sounds of Boy George, Robin Thicke, and George Michael. Before there was Robin Thicke there was Dino. The album was a moderate success only reaching gold status. Unfortunately his smooth pop sound did not help him further his career in any way. His songs sounded the same as any artists of that time due to the producers recycling the same instrumentation and beats. In the late 80's a lot of artists had songs that sounded the same.

The song 24/7 has a George Michael type of feel and vibe due tot the calmness in his vocals. This was the jam back in the day. 24/7 is a love song.

Dino likes the way that she gives him all her love each day. Dino likes that she tells him everything's okay. Then the time comes for them to show how much they really care for each other. The things they do bring them joy to their hearts. She has got him going in circles 24/7.

Dino knows she feels the same deep down in her heart. He feels the same way too. He feels that emotion when she calls his name deep in the night. He don't want nobody else. Her love is his.

Sunshine is a love song written and produced by Dino. The single achieved gold sales status in 1989 and had peaked at #23 on the Pop chart.

This girl Dino is dating has got a certain way about her. Dino does not think he could go a day without her love. It's on the rise just like the morning sun. She gets him up and the feeling is good. It lets him know he can't compromise. Different strokes for different folks, but for Dino there's only one girl. She's his sunshine. He thinks of her every day and all night.

She's so fine. He just can't see to get that girl out his mind. The infatuation of her is in his mind.

These lyrics represent and explain her personality and persona. “She makes it so nice on a rainy day/All of the clouds just go away/Her smile is shining bright”

He uses every little single opportunity to let her know that she's the one for him. She's such a pretty sight. She makes every day so bright in his world.

Never 2 Much Of U is about there never being too much of the person you love, cherish, or admire. All of this song is written in the first person perspective.

There's never too much of the person you love, cherish, or admire. There's never too much of that person. You think of them when they are not around. You call that person up on the phone. That person tells you they are all alone. They are the kind of lover you really do need as that person has been so good to you.

An excerpt of the lyrics in Verse 1 show emotion.

Now I know it sounds funny
But I gotta know
If I come right over
Can I let my feeling show?
Baby
Cause you've been so good so good to me
You're the kind of lover I really do need
You're all I need

There's never too much of you
Just keep all this good love coming
Just me giving you love
There's never too much of you
Every day and every night
You're on my mind

Enhanced sounds like Al! B Sure - Nite and Day from the late 80s. The song has a smooth and peaceful vibe. Dino wrote and produced this song all by himself.

Dino - Swingin’ album review

Swingin' was not as much of a hit for Dino as his debut album 24/7 was. The album failed to chart in the single digits on the Billboard charts. The album reached #82 on the US Billboard 200 falling off shortly after. New Jack Swing and synth-pop was becoming a thing of the past. Synth-pop was played out by then. That is one of many reasons why Swingin' did not chart very high.

However the songwriting is much better. Dino showed maturity and lyrical growth in songwriting on this album with songs such as Wish on a Star, Tongue Kiss,

Can't Get Away From You is about not being able to get the person you love out of your head. That alone drives you nuts.

Dino does not know what to do. He is alone in his bed. All he thinks about is her. He doesn’t know if he should call. He checks the clock for the time. Her face has never left his mind. He feels the heat of the summer slowly creep into his room. He quickly dials her number. Dino feels his heart begin to boom. Her voice echoes inside of him just like an angel above. He wishes that she would come over. He needs her love.

Dino can't get away from her or her love. Time is moving slow. He waits for her to come see him. He wants her next to him. He might not ever let her go. Suddenly he hears a knock on the door. He rushes to let her inside. No longer can he hide his feelings. She is the one he adores.

He’s waited for so long for her love. He keeps coming back for more. More of her love. Her love keeps him going strong. The touch of her skin is embraced with a kiss. Excitement grows deep within. He never knew these feelings could exist. He feels the passion get stronger. They fit so perfect together.

Falling for You is a sweet love song that deals with falling in love with someone.

As the days go by, Dino finds his heart getting weaker for her. He can’t seem to get her off his mind. He can't deny this passion. He feels it with the touch of her hand.

The lyrics to the chorus give away everything.

CHORUS
You've got me falling for you
I'm falling in love
You've got me falling for you
I'm falling in love

Tongue Kiss is a sexual love song that is provocative in nature and very humorous. Tongue Kiss is more explicit in nature than any of his other songs from his catalogue. Dino took a different approach in songwriting by writing from a mature person’s perspective and by diving into the more sexual side of love.

She's the type of girl who wants to have some fun but doesn't want to go all the way. Dino has tried everything to be the one but it doesn't seem to matter anyway.

He has even tried to persuade her with candy and it made her smile. Yet she always hesitates to take a chance as she wants to make sure it's worth the while. She says, “We can do a little of that. We can do a little of this. We can tongue kiss. We can have some fun tonight. But that's all we can do.” (This is explained during the chorus as well. So this means that Dino is not getting any nookie tonight. There’s no chance of him going to second base either.

Every little thing she does just drives him mad up the wall. He has no clue as to how long he will last. He wants to be bad every time he’s alone with her.She doesn't want things to move too fast. Dino attempts to unwind her by doing a little bump n’ grind. But she always puts the fire out before it gets hot. She says she doesn't wanna fool around.

Tonight is the night Dino plans to play his cards right. He is going to try with all his might to know her and show her that he is the only one for her. The closer he gets, the more he wants. He tries real hard to act nonchalantly. It drives him crazy when she's holding his hand. He has to be patient if he wants to be her man.

Why Do You Do Me? is a sad heartbreaking love song about why Dino has been done so badly. It’s a heartbreak hotel type of song. Think George Michael - Careless Whisperer and Merge - What Makes You Want To Want To Lie To Me when you listen to Why Do You Do Me?.

Dino gave her everything including all the love he had. He asks, “Why do you do me so bad?” “I give you all the love I have!”

He reminisces on the past where he remembers when her love was only his. She was his lover and friend. They had a real good time. But now things are different as the other person acts so inconsistent. Dino doesn't know what to do. She tells him it’s over. She wants to be alone. He can't believe it's true. Lyrics to Verse 1 explain everything.

VERSE 1
Back in the times
I remember when your love was only mine
You were my lover
And you were my friend
We had a real good time
But now things are different
'Cause you act so inconsistent
I don't know what to do
You tell me it's over
You wanna be alone
I can't believe it's true
So tell me

Notice how the rhyming scheme on Verse 1 uses the suffix “-ent”. Read some of these lyrics to understand.:
“We had a real good time/But now things are different/'Cause you act so inconsistent/I don't know what to do”

Verse 2 has Dino questioning her about if their love was real. He tells her, “Give me the reason. Say what's on your mind.Tell me how you feel. 'Cause I don't believe it. What a waste of time I thought your love was real. I'm trying to be optimistic but you're so unrealistic. It doesn't make much sense. Was our love a lie? Was it just a game? Don't leave me in suspense. Just tell me.”

VERSE 2
Give me the reason
Say what's on your mind
Tell me how you feel
'Cause I don't believe it
What a waste of time
I thought your love was real
I'm trying to be optimistic
But you're so unrealistic
It doesn't make much sense
Was our love a lie
Was it just a game
Don't leave me in suspense
Just tell me

Wish on a Star deals with no longer being with the person you cherish and not being able to tell them goodbye. The pain of not being able to tell someone goodbye is emotionally painful. You live with a lot of regret when you are unable to tell a person you cherish or admire goodbye.

Dino is in disbelief that the person he cherished is away from him. That person is gone. He knows that person had to leave. He hopes and prays that they are happy. Sometimes he feels alone because time keeps painting a picture in his mind that he is no longer with them. He’ll be there to wish on a star every night underneath the moonlight that one day he will hold her tight. Make everything all right.

Dino feels the pain as he attempts to hold back his tears. It's just not the same. He would give everything to have them here. He can remember all the good times they shared. That person made him happy. That person gave him hope to fill his dreams and now he wishes they could share them with him. Now that person is gone. He didn’t get the chance to tell them goodbye.
