Benjamin Damage - Malfunction single review

Benjamin Damage - Malfunction was released in 2018 on 12” vinyl and a digital download by R & S Records from Belgium. Malfunction was one of the labels biggest techno releases for the year of 2018 being that both songs received more downloads than any others from their catalog. Malfunction is his best single to date.

The song Malfunction uses a combination of breakbeats and monolithic bass. The beats are what really stand out the most. Malfunction uses such intense atmosphere over obsidian melodies. All of his synths used are very hypnotizing thus taking you into a dreamy sequence. He uses bitcrush on some of his synths randomly which is why you can hear distortion on various parts of the song. You can hear harmonizing angelic synths at the 2:27 duration mark during the buildup for this song.

Binary is driven by a set of pummeling drums and dreamy synths. The song uses cutting edge techno production and electronic sounds. Binary has deeper vibes than Malfunction.

Ashley Ballard - Get in the Booth (promo version) album review

It’s a shame that the album Ashley Ballard - Get in the Booth wasn't released publicly as a retail album. Atlantic Records was supposed to release her debut album in 2001 on CD. It's unfortunate that this album got shelved by Atlantic Records in the same year. Atlantic Records really dropped the ball when they failed to promote her career properly. They had lost a star with true talent.

What happened is that her debut album was released as a promo instead in CD format to radio stations across the country. Atlantic did this to promote her album which somehow didn’t work out for her or Atlantic.

The instrumentation arrangements for this album are laid out in a manner of perfection. The beats follow the rhythm and the high powered synths accompany the processed beats. There are no fillers. Ashley Ballard - Get in the Booth is a wonderful album for all to enjoy. Fans of pop music will appreciate listening to this album. She has that Southern California vibe in her.

Dance With Me made an impact in the dance music scene by charting at #5 on the Billboard's Hot 100 Singles chart in 2001. In timespan range of one week, Dance With Me charted onto the Billboard Pop Hot 100 Singles chart.

Ashley Ballard is a true natural when performing Dance With Me. Her natural talent shines on this song. Her lovely angelic vocals give the song a breath of fresh air with a pop flair. Dance music meets pop music on the song Dance With Me.

Hypnotized has a pop flair and pop feel. High powered synths accompany the processed beats of this upbeat pop song. You can’t help but follow the direction the beats go in as the beats seem to all go in different directions. Hypnotized is both high powered and high spirited due to the pop flair.

Ashley Ballard hypnotizes us as the listeners to her commands on the first verse.:

Look into my eyes
You're feeling sleepy
When I click my fingers
You'll wake up and not remember a thing

You're hypnotized
O-oh

Everything feels like a dream to her, but it’s reality on the song All I Ever. The first verse is a prime example to back that sentence up. It's like a dream to her but it’s reality. Fantasy and reality meet each other on the pop song All I Ever.

The way you make me feel
It's like a dream to me
Almost a fantasy
But it's reality

It is clear to thus as the listeners that Ashley is in high spirits during the bridge of this song. She is feeling so alive and high in spirit. Ashley can't deny how she feels inside.

Read the lyrics of the bridge to this song below.:

You got me high
Feeling so alive
Everything about you
You know I like

I’ll Be Waiting is a smooth mellow pop song that is accompanied with an acoustic guitar playing in the background while following the beat. The acoustic guitar follows the beat a slow steady pace. I'll Be Waiting is a “hold you in my heart” type of song.

Back in the early 2000’s, the song Forever was #1 on the Soundclick Charts. Yes Soundclick! Ashley shows off her light vocals on the song Forever. Of course Forever is a love song. It’s a catchy song with sweet vocals.

Hi Low is similar to the likes of the song 5 x 5. However Hi Low is mid-tempo compared to the rest of the album. Clearly it’s another catchy pop song. Atlantic Records should have chosen Hi Low to be a single and not just the promoting song Hottie as a single for which it was.

Play - Play single review

Who remembers the single and mini-album Play - Play? If you were a child, tween, or teen during the beginning of the 21st century, then you will probably remember the female Europop group Play. Play came from Sweden, the breeding ground for tween/teen Europop groups such as ABBA, A-Teens, Supernatural, and Ace of Base. The album is nothing short of sweet pop sounds and love ballads with that early '00s sound.

Now their 2001 single was packaged as a mini-album by Columbia on CD. Remember those? This album is a nostalgic trip from the early part of the millennium. The Play mini-album was released to the United States in 2001 and was released to the rest of the world in 2002.

If love songs are not your cup of tea, then this album is not suggested for you. The single is nothing too special as these love songs have material similar to what you have before by love songs from other artists and musicians. Female Europop group Play takes the cake on their own single.

The Play - Play single was an enhanced CD that came with the Us Against The World and interviews of each member. The CD acted as more or less as an EPK (electronic press kit).

Play lets us know it’s them against the world on the song Us Against The World. The song has that early 00’s pop sound and vibe. Play's 2001 hit song Us Against the World was featured virtually everywhere in the early '00s. The song was featured in the Mary-Kate & Ashley film Holiday in the Sun and Disney's TV show Lizzie McGuire.

There is nothing better than to talk to you. If you have a problem, Play will be here for you as it’s them against the world. There is no one else that can say this. It's us against the world. They wonder if we are meant to be. The song is a testament of true love. No wonder this song became a kid pop sensation.

Hopelessly Devoted is a non-discreet love song about how a girl is in love with a boy only to have her heart broken by him. She ends up being hopelessly devoted to him.

There's no gettin' over that boy. He broke this girl’s poor heart. She cried her eyes out. Now she is heart broken. There's no gettin' over that. She is just a fool who's willing to sit around and wait for him. Can't you see? There's nothing else for het to do because she hopelessly devoted to him. There's nothing to hide she he pushed her love aside. Her heart holds on to the end.

I'm Gonna Make You Love Me was their song which featured Chris Trousdale of Dream Street. The song was a moderate hit single for the group in 2001. This song has that early 00’s pop sound.

This song is about a girl who does everything in her power to make a boy love her. She does everything for him to show him that her love is true. She’ll sacrifice for him and always do what's right for him. This girl is going to shower him with love and affection.

I Don't Get Down Like That is about how a girl tells a boy that she is taken and is already dating someone else. She does not get down like that or play any sort of games. Yet somehow this boy can take ‘no’ for an answer and constantly keeps on bugging her out in the world.

These lyrics explain how this girl don’t get down like that.:

I told you the scenario
I made it crystal clear
I spelled it out from A to Z
But which part of no don't you hear?

I told you I'm already taken
And that's a move I won't be makin'
I made a vow I'm never breakin'
It's a matter of fact that I
Don't get down like that
Ya know I've got a one and only
And you don't really even know me
But every day you try to phone me
And I never call back cause I
Don't get down like that

The boy made a move at the movies where she and the girls were at. He tried to call and paged her too. She was already getting tired of him at this point. She don't play and never strays. You'd best believe as it's not her way to deceive.

These explain clearly what happened during that event.:

At the movies with my girls and me
You made a move, thought I didn't see
Then you look surprised - Don't you even try
You tried to call and ya paged me too
I think I'm gettin kinda tired of you

Is It Love is a short but sappy love song. It’s nothing special of what you’ve heard before or already. The lyrics are simple and very kiddy. No wonder this song became a kid pop sensation.

Me Phi Me - Sad New Day single review

The Me Phi Me - Sad New Day single demo was a cassette with hand drawn artwork in ink format by Mr. Me Phi Me himself. This demo had 5 songs and was released in 1992.

This Me Phi Me demo had songs that were on the One album. The Me Phi Me single demo is a socially conscious worldly alternative hip hop/rap album with minimal to no profanity. Everyone can listen to this album including the whole family. The album deals with real topics such as combating homelessness, politics, hopefulness, positivity, and self integrity. The album has some truth and knowledge that was sadly overlooked in the era of pop and gangsta rap. Me Phi Me was the PM Dawn of Flint, Michigan and Flint rap. To sum it all up, the Me Phi Me demo is a world music album itself.

Sad New Day shows spiritual awareness. The song is a surrealistic perspective and insight of society's outcasts who become inspired by the positive rhymes of hip-hop innovator. Me Phil Me on the same level as PM Dawn with spiritual awareness in their music.

Verse 1 shows spiritual awareness of being mentally locked down. Trying to break free from being mentally locked down is not easy. You to be in total control of your actions. Read the lyrics.

[Verse 1]
Pain, it's as dark as the night
Keeps you up-tight
Forever you fight
You try to break the bondage you experience
Deranged, delirious, mentally serious
Tell ME how do I break the chains on my brain
My mind, my body, my soul
I need total control
Of my freedom and my liberty
When will it be for all?
All Berlin walls must fall
The physical torture and mental oppression
The anguish of depression
Life is a lesson
That you've got to study hard because the hard times
Are grippin' and whippin'
Quit slippin'
Don't be a slave just create a positive state
Don't break just make and take
Be great
Don't be controlled just be strong never doubt your tomorrow
And we'll hear you scream out...

When it rains it pours for pain is a force. Let happiness be your source and keep goin' for yours. Let happiness be and your life and over come the sadness. Choose the right path in life.

Verse 3 highlights how life is special.

[Verse 3: Me Phi Me]
Solar energy within ME all through ME
It's the sun full of light bringing power and might
All right makin' everything start to swing
You be the king or queen of your own dream
Life can be supreme, it's a special thing
Just keep the faith through the night time
You operate smooth and you might find
All of the loving, the bliss, the joy -- a happy deal
Friendship and jubilee, you live The Elysian fields
For real -- you need to feel unchained and free
Into the ME PHI ME
And you are in the rat race, so put on your gym shoes
Run emphatically, step on them blues
Choose the right path and be on your way
And you'll be able to say
What a wonderful life!

Keep It Goin’ is a song about individuality. Individuality motivates us to keep on going. Individuality is key to a great personality. My brothas and sistas, this is a beautiful song. This song was the theme for the short lived Fox TV show Tribeca.

The first verse explains the philosophy of individuality and self-love.

[Verse 1]
Shine, like the sun at noontime
Light the path that leads to a new mind
Look into my mind and what do you see
Individuality
The ME PHI ME
Can you handle my philosophy:
Love yourself and you will never go wrong
Because self-esteem is like a real live party
It keeps me going all night long

You heard the rhythm and saw the mechanism. What a funky system. Fighting the battle for joy and euphoria is something we (can) all strive for. Show them what happens when you're proud and strong. You keep going all night long. Something about every person is great. We need more members to add to the sunshine. So come sign up if you got what it takes.

A smile for yourself it helps to bring your mind to realize you dreams. Attitude helps keep you flow and go. Never take a break from loving yourself.

Black Sunshine deals with homelessness. Me Phi Me was so far ahead of his time with his song. Me Phi Me performs on Black Sunshine using an acoustic guitar. Homelessness and vagrancy are issues which still plagues societies today. The song still has relevance with today’s audience.

The first verse of this Me Phi Me song explains homelessness and vagrancy in a nutshell.

This old box is all I own
I call it home
I live life like an animal
It's not understandable
I'm just like you
But you don't live alone
Call me the lonely man
I'm trying to make a stand
On the dignity that God has given me
But it's so hard for me to follow that plan
When my favorite restaurant is a garbage can
Every morning I see Black Sunshine
It's in my mind
As the world pretends they don't see
I can't fit in no one wants me
From the dark light
The world is unkind
Black Sunshine, Black Sunshine
No matter where I look
There's no shade from
Black sunshine beaming it's dark light
On every move I make

Me Phi Me calls out the government along with society for not helping out the homeless the way in which they should. Me Phi Me criticizes society for turning the other cheek against homelessness. People wouldn’t know how it feels to be homeless unless they were once that position themselves.

Who can help the homeless don't you know
You're never gonna hide behind the sunglasses
If your brother's hands are tied
You got to wipe some asses
So men will survive the night
Let the Black Sunshine turn bright

Pu' Sho Hands 2 Getha served as the closer for this demo. The song was an appropriate choice to be the closing track for this demo because of the title. Pu' Sho Hands 2 Getha was recorded and mixed at Concept Sound Studios in Murfreesboro, Tennessee.

State of Cykosis - Choir Of A Nutcase album review

Choir Of A Nutcase was State of Cykosis' first full length album which was released by Duce Duce in 1997. By this point, Cykosis' was using the name State of Cykosis. The album full of hardcore horrorcore hip hop and rap. The beats are dope, the lyrics are awesome, and it is all around epic. However the album did not escape from any controversy. The lyrics to one of their songs were related to a case involving a runaway girl being murdered. Some of the lyrics led to her body found in a field.

Murdergram is a murderous song about the murdergram deliverer. MC Black Bart plays his role as the murdergram deliverer on the song Murdergram. He is responsible for the murder of people. Now the song Murdergram was produced by The False Prophet himself.

Welcome. We're gathered here to witness the murdergram. You will acknowledge him. MC Black Bart is the murdergram deliverer. Black Bart is the messenger of death. He is delivering to you a green vision of terror. You'll be on your knees praying that he is an error.

The murdergram deliverer lives his life dirty and low. Time is not an issue as he got all the time in the world to fuck a hoe.The badass motherfucker in the T (Toledo, Ohio). Look into his eyes and you will see a murderer. But enough about him. What's your story though?

Bad news. Wait, let me guess. You that didn't know. A murdergram delivery has been delivered by the Prophet. It's a letter from the Lord telling you your life is over. What Black Bart presents to you is nothing less than a murdergram.

The murdergram deliverer is looking in the hallway like Jack in The Shining movie. He is peeking through your window and sees you running up the stairs. He knows he’s gonna find you whether it be underneath the bed or behind a shower curtain. Or maybe in the closet, but I'm really not for certain.

The murdergram deliverer put his ear to the wall and what does he hear? He knows you're running away from him. Now open up this door! The murdergram deliverer will break the fucking door and become your worst fear. He tells you, “Put your hands behind your head. I want you lay your face down.”

Cykic deals with being in a psychotic state of mind. People who are cykic are in a psychotic state. Those people are not fit for society. They are freaks.

It's the False Prophet. He has a bat in his hand and a switchblade in his pocket. Knock it off or he will get cykic. Some people said he is not fit for society. Prophet F, The Prophet Of Death will eat ya ass up 'till there ain't nothin' left.

The False Prophet is suffering from a state of depression. Read these lyrics to understand.: “Can't you feel me?/Depress wanna kill me”

The False Prophet hears screams of agony while blood is being shed. He can't go to sleep. So he creeps down to the bar to get something to eat. It's not like a grocery store. There he orders legs, nerves, large intestines, and earring forms. Formaldehyde, homicide, and suicide. What a lovely combination.

Verse 3 turns into a massacre.

[Verse 3: The False Prophet]
Who's the one? Who's the one that's mad?
The government that took everyday from my ass
He left mistaken, my meat I was spankin'
Eating toxic waste, WOAH! Damn, I'm blankin'
Sticking every Mary Jane, Wayne and Kelly
Tryna swear at some massacre who's still smelly
What? I don't hear you, I throw up my ear stew
And tryna pull the chest back on with super glue
Forex sent the motherfucker's down with it
Don't take more shit, heed The False Prophet
