This album got overlooked similar to how the Big Sugar album from 1993 got overlooked. The album has everything anyone would look for in a rock album. Tunes about social injustice, getting through heard times.
18 Indians discusses the injustice Native Indians of Canada face. The song deals with the injustice Native Indians faced in Canada which still continues to this day. The history of Indian removal in Canada is discussed as well. White people who were early settlers pushed Native Indians away from their homeland. White settlers wrecked their homes and families.
These Indians are getting older, bigger, bitter, and wiser. Finally they have found out the truth. They are angry. Certainly wouldn’t you be?
Wishing for a Sail about pushing through tough times in life, finding meaning in life, and hoping for the better. Ordinary people go through tough times in their lifetime. The lyrics are straight to the point. The song did not get the popularity it deserved. One can why this song didn't become more famous. Overall the song is truly fantastic. Wishing for a Sail has that 90s rock feel.

Jovonn – Catch That Feeling E.P. has that New York underground house music sound which house heads yearn and crave for. Funky and groovy are two words to describe the Catch That Feeling E.P. in all senses. Catch That Feeling uses a sizable xylophone selection which makes up the orchestral percussion and keyboard percussion. Perks is one of those songs that will sound crazy loud if played on a big sound system or Skull Candy headphones. The song has that deep house sound with the warped heavy bass and smooth thick beats. Perks is a perfect house to dance to.

Joi Cardwell - A Beautiful Life is one of her more rare albums that are harder to find. This album was sold mainly in Japan for whatever reason. The album was released on CD in 2007. The sounds of house meet pop on this album. Her angelic vocals give house music a breath of fresh air. The theme of spiritual freedom and personal freedom are themes on many of her songs on this album and her other songs as well.
What It Feels Like is a song of spiritual freedom and what being emotionally free means. Joi shows us what it’s like to be spiritually free on this song. Spiritual freedom is a theme on many of her songs on this album and her other songs as well. Her vocals give house music a breath of fresh air.
Joi shows us what it’s like to be spiritually free. These lyrics represent spiritual freedom.: “Light of the world/Let me show you what it feels like/To be me/To be free/Times gone”
These lyrics show the past as being a distant memory. The past is sort of an illusion. “And past has conclusions/My life like yours/An illusion/Of things the way/We only see/If there”
What Really Matters shows us why love matters.
Joi has lived in a place that made her feel if she was all alone for sometime. Then with your help she came to realize that in life she is truly loved. Nothing really matters except the love of others. Nothing really matters except the love of yourself. The world is such a hard place.

Be Yourself is a song representing personal freedom. This is one of her many inspirational songs which motivates people. That’s why you get a vibe of motivation when you listen to this song. Joi inspires people to not be afraid of being themselves. She encourages people to be themselves. Joi does this by saying, “Release all your woes and be free. Follow your heart to a place that is safe.”
These lyrics encourage you to be yourself. To be what you want to be. “Be the moon/Be the stars/Be whatever you are/Be the right/Be the might/Be of hope joy and light/But/Be yourself”
Joi tells people to let go of their past and let the unknown take control. The unknown will shape your fate. Sometimes it’s best to let fate take control of your destiny. Letting fate control your destiny is sometimes what you need. Joi explains so in the following lyrics.

Zapp - Fire / Jake E Stanstill single review
The Zapp - Fire / Jake E Stanstill single was released as a 12” vinyl single by Reprise Records in 1989 and was sent to radio stations all across the United States. Surely enough, the single became a blazing hot hit underground and on the radio.
Zapp performed a unique cover version of Ohio Players - Fire on the song Fire. This cover version of Fire uses a talkbox. Zapp’s on fire! Now this cover version of Fire is excellent! Bill Beck’s outstanding performance on the keyboard is simply amazing. The Ohio Players connection is no coincidence. An instrumental jazz version is included on this vinyl as well.
Jake E Stanstill serves as an instrumental closer for the single. The music you hear on Jake E Stanstill is similar to elevator music with the mood being upbeat and cheerful. Jake E Stanstill is similar to a bossa nova style jazz instrumental. Zapp's electronic flavor can be heard on this song. Jazz, funk, and electronic music all meet each other on this Zapp song. Think elevator music when you listen to Jake E Stanstill.

Jazztronik – Rita / Estar Com Você single review
Jazztronik – Rita / Estar Com Você is some of the best Japanese music has to offer. Latin music meet jazz on the Rita / Estar Com Você single. Both songs have a Brazillian vibe and sound. A very nice mix of the elements.
Rita follows an upbeat Latin rhythm with a great groove and flow. The Latin sounding percussion gives that away. The sounds of Latin music meet jazz on Rita. Rita is one of those songs you could listen to for hours on end without getting tired of. Estar Com Você follows a downtempo Latin rhythm over a jazzy piano. The song has a Brazillian vibe and sound as well.

Zapp – Radio People single review
Zapp – Radio People is one the singles that should have gotten as much attention as Computer Love did. The success of Radio People was overshadowed by Computer Love. The breakout success of Computer Love is what lead the Radio People single to be overlooked in 1985.
This time Zapp leaned more towards the sound of synthpop. Roger Troutman and Zapp decided to go a different musical direction instead. Zapp strayed away from P-Funk by going in a different musical direction. You can hear the sounds of synthpop on songs such as Radio People and Itchin' For Your Twitchin'. This obviously worked as both songs were issued as singles.
Radio People was a song that gained a cult following after being featured in the movie Ferris Bueller's Day Off. The song was a moderate pop hit in 1985 on the radio. Radio People uses heavy 80's electronically textured dynamics and irresistible melodies. The song uses an upbeat twist of funk. The entire song is a dedication to the radio.
Whenever you’re alone and you need some company, you have your radio. You know you have a friend that you can listen to on your radio. You can find it all on your radio. You don't need nobody. You just touch the special dial on your radio for whatever sounds you like. The music plays all night. You can find it on your radio. Stereophonic, groovalistic, realistic, superalistic. Itchin' For Your Twitchin' uses the Minneapolis sound. Roger was obviously inspired by Prince when he wrote, arranged, and produced Itchin' For Your Twitchin'. You can hear the high NRG sound when you listen to Itchin' For Your Twitchin’. Prince - Irresistable Bitch is part of the melody. Coincidence? I think not.

Afefe Iku – Bodydrummin EP review
Afefe Iku – Bodydrummin is one the many EPs from Osunlade protégé from Afefe Iku of Manda Island, Kenya. He worked closely with Osunlade at his I'lle studio during the recording of the Bodydrummin EP back in 2012. The entire EP uses an African drums and percussion selection along with African rhythms.
Bodydrummin uses an African drums and percussion selection to follow the rhythm. Bodydrummin uses the sounds of tribal house. The stab kicks in after the bells with the repetitive lyrics saying, "the body, the body..." . The synth lead fades out during that time. Beats are broken down. Bodydrummin uses a tempo of 120 BPM.
Columbus Beach uses a new jazz sound over African drums and percussion. A jazzy saxophone follows the melody and rhythm. Notice how none of the beats are broken down but instead follow the rhythm. Columbus Beach is the song which calms the mood down for this EP as a tempo of 94 BPM is used instead the typical 120 BPM or 125 BPM.

Ill Fated - Califunk EP review
Ill Fated - Califunk is one of the EPs that got lost in the slough of gangsta rap in 1994. This EP is an under group rap EP from Sacramento, California. This EP had a more Bay Area sound in terms of rap. If this EP had been released as a full album, then the album would have gotten more play and not have been forgotten.
Ill Fated is none other than The Techni-Crew. Techni-Crew had changed their name to Ill Fated because of the change in times and musical direction. Crews were becoming outdated by 1994. So they changed to a different name. Ill Fated sounded a lot harder and more gangsta than their original name. Notice that the group changed their style and sound.
Califunk blends the sound of funk and gangsta rap into one mixture. The song is driven by one funky ass beat. The song is a dedication to the state of California.
Hott Butt Naked Sexx is a 2 Live Crew type of track with a sexy upbeat vibe and tempo. The song acts as ode to naked anal sex. The song samples a portion of Ohio Players - Funky Worm. However the sample sped up 2x.
Ill Fated brings out that California funk on Out There. The song is laced with heavy rumbling bass perfect for your stereo system. The lyrics are harder on this song as they are on Califunk.

Underground Resistance - Analog Assassin single review
Underground Resistance - Analog Assassin is one the more overlooked single from second-wave Detroit techno music. 2002 was an uncompromising year for music as there were many acts pushing and promoting their music to get their name out there.
Analog Assassin is an upbeat, fast paced techno acid song which uses an electronic soundscape of electronic synths, processed beats, and soft percussion. The electronic synths are used with a distortion filter which is why the synths are distorted. The song uses a sawtooth with hardcore compression. The song is a wonderful cover of Xperiment - Karn Evil.
Subsonic Shadow is an upbeat techno track laced with less distorted synths then Analog Assassin. There seems to be no distortion filter used on Subsonic Shadow. Notice the electro sound. The track keeps a portion of the Detroit techno inside of the synths.

Osunlade – Aquarian Moon album review
Osunlade – Aquarian Moon uses a great mixture of future jazz, electronic, ambient techno, and tribal house in one recording. Osunlade never does wrong when he uses a mixture of different sounds and influences. The album is excellent. One word that can be used to describe this album is amazing.
The sounds of Flow are reminiscent to ambient techno with that space sound. The sound is profound and breathtaking. The title track, Aquarian Moon, uses those amazing tribal African drums.
Inspiration is a beautiful song off this album that backed by beautiful African drums and hypnotizing bass. You can hear those amazing tribal African vibes when you listen to Inspiration. The song uses a touch of future jazz. The whole song is practically an instrumental.
