Frederick Jorio Presents Sextravaganza ‎– Tribal Sextrax - A Collection Of Underground Tribal House album review

Frederick Jorio Presents Sextravaganza ‎– Tribal Sextrax - A Collection Of Underground Tribal House is one of the best tribal house albums in the history of electronic music. The Tribal Sextrax album is a collection of underground tribal house songs he produced and arranged himself. This album serves as “Best Of” and Greatest Hits” for him in a way. However this album is different because of the number of songs which were used to make Tribal Sextrax a full album. Tribal Sextrax is another beautiful work of tribal house music performed by Frederick Jorio himself.

The sound and style are similar to Sextravaganza ‎– Return Of Sextravaganza. The production on this album is very Afrocentric centered which is why you can hear Afrocentric beats and jungle beats all over the album. There is a lot of tribal madness on this album due to the tribal house sound and jungle house sound. Think tribal jungle. The sounds of dance and electronic meet each other on this album. This album has a melodic dance sound which meets the polished sounds of electronic music. Tribal Sextrax is extremely well produced and polished in an efficient manner. His work is extravagant as always. 90s house music can’t get any better than this. The sounds of 90s electronic music leaves much to be desired for the ears whether good or bad.

(All I Want Is) Sex is a sexy tribal house song perfect for the bedroom, night club, dance, or the dance floor. Orgasmic, sexy, and tribal are three words to describe this song. The song uses both tribal beats and jungle beats.

(I Want To) Take You Home Tonite is a perfect example of tribal house. The song uses congas performed by Ismael Bruno. Congas follow the rhythm of a kick drum next to a set of groovy bass lines. Now this version is not as orgasmic as the Sex Dub or the Danny Tanaglia mix.

Come On Everyone is driven by a repetitive vocal sample, a jazzy saxophone, bass lines, short electric synths, and a kick drum. Come On Everyone is one of his more underrated works of music. The song is perfect for the dance floor. The song follows a melodic rhythm. Now the saxophone gives the song an ambient sound. Ambient house music meets the sounds of dance and electronic on the song Come On Everyone.

The song Montobi's Raindance is filled with tribal madness as it uses lot of tribal house elements. Montobi's Raindance uses an eclectic Afrocentric blend of drums such as congas, bongos, and timbales. The Afrocentric drums blend in perfectly with the tribal house sound on this song as well as this album. Relaxing is one word to describe the mood of this song. Montobi's Raindance follows a tempo of 125 BPM. This is tribal America. The bass blends in perfectly with the Afrocentric blend of drums.

The Orgasm (Never Get Enough) (Sextribe Break) is one of the more orgasmic songs on the album. The Orgasm has a vibe, sound, and style that are similar to (All I Want Is) Sex.

Hey You is one of more well known songs that circulated in the underground scene of New York City. The song even managed enough buzz for the TRIBAL label to issue a single just for this song.

The song Montobi (Sextribe Mix) is filled with tribal madness as it uses lot of tribal house elements. Montobi (Sextribe Mix) uses an eclectic Afrocentric blend of drums such as congas, bongos, and timbales. The Afrocentric drums blend in perfectly with the tribal house sound on this song as well as this album. Relaxing is one word to describe the mood of this song. Montobi (Sextribe Mix) follows a tempo of 122 BPM. This is tribal America. Montobi (Sextribe Mix) is just as orgasmic as (I Want To) Take You Home Tonite.

Electric Jungle is an electronic hodgepodge of synths, notes and beats. This song uses a mixture of Latin jungle beats and Afrocentric tribal beats. Think jungle house for example.

Theme From Sextravaganza uses a funky bassline which is accompanied by synths and dance beats. This song is a mixture of electronic and dance music. The song is basically a tribal house instrumental laced with electronic synths and sounds.

I Won't Waste Your Time (Underground Smoothness) uses the smoothness of R&B and electronic in a tribal song. Joi Cardwell was the lead vocalist on this song. Her vocals are sung in perfect harmony and are sublime as always. You can’t go wrong with Joi Cardwell as the lead vocalist.

Come Drums serves as the closer for this album and uses a barrage of Afrocentric tribal house beats. The beats are not processed and are raw & unfiltered.

D-Unity ‎– The Bakongo EP EP review

D-Unity ‎– The Bakongo EP is a tribal techno house EP filled with 2 electronic songs. This EP was released as a digital download in MP3 format and .WAV by Yoshitoshi Recordings in 2009.

The beats used in the songs for this EP are rather light and too soft. Sometimes filtered beats aren’t the best to be used. Longevity is also what this EP is lacking since there are only 2 songs. Longevity and soft light beats are the downside to this EP unfortunately. There is not much hostility in the beats or chords either. However the sounds of tribal house leave much to be desired as this EP will take you back to those good old tribal days. Samburu is the highlight for this EP overall.

Soft light techno styled tribal beats are used in the beginning of Bakongo. Those techno styled tribal beats you hear are actually electronically processed congas. The buildups in the song are around 0:50, 1:04, and 1:05. BPM for this song quickly transitions from 114 BPM to 127 BPM at the 1:05 mark. Bakongo uses a combination of tribal house and techno house. You rarely hear tribal songs these days. The song is perfect for a rave party.

You rarely hear tribal songs such as Samburu these days. This song will take you back to the good old days of when tribal house ruled the electronic music scene back in the 1990s and 2000s. Think about those good old tribal days. Afrocentric percussion such as bongos and congas are used. Samburu uses African chanting as well.

Electric Beat Crew - Electric Beat Crew EP EP review

The Electric Beat Crew EP is an example of early German hip hop from Germany. The Electric Beat Crew duo was influenced by the electronic sound from the electronic band "Kraftwerk” which is why electronic and hip hop are mashed up together on this EP. The sounds of 80s electronic music leaves much to be desired for the ears whether good, bad, or just plain cheesy. Not too many people know this but Electric Beat Crew was the first and only English speaking hip hop group in Germany. The EP was issued on vinyl in 1989 by the AMIGA label.

Go Go uses the styles of electro hip hop and Baltimore Go Go. The song has that East Coast flow and style. Go Go is a perfect song to break dance to. Go Go also proves to be great graffiti bombing music.

Here We Come is an electro hip hop melody laced with heavy electronic synths and beats. This song summed up break dancing in the 80s. The song has that East Coast flow and style. This was the song that rocked German hip hop back then as Electric Beat Crew made this song a German hip hop classic by constantly playing it during break dance sessions and concerts. Here We Come is the German answer to Nucleus - Jam On It. The BPM for Here We Come is 118 BPM.

Really Red ‎– Crowd Control / Corporate Settings single review

Really Red ‎– Crowd Control / Corporate Settings is one of the early singles in Texas punk rock from 1979. This single is one of the first records among their accomplishments. The songs are about getting the crowd hype, feeling the music, and paying your way in the music scene. 250 copies of this single were issued as a “7 vinyl.

Crowd Control is about getting the crowd hype, feeling the music, and paying your way in the music scene. The song is mostly about getting the crowd hype and feeling the music though.

You feel the music in their lyrics whether it be a beat or a chord that you hear. These lyrics explain how you can feel the music, “Beat plays to you/Let it go right through you/Strike a chord in you/It’s time to move, move, move you”

Really Red tells us to ignore those people who are always watching you. Read these lyrics, “Ignore those people/Always watching, watching, watching/What a bore - those people/Always watching you/Ignore those people/Always watching, watching, watching you”

Really Red also tells us to ignore boring people. They are out of patience with crowd control these days. “You don’t need no Saturday night lessons/What you don’t know is just for terminal bores/And you don’t need no good advice for you/I’m out of patience with crowd control these days” Are you out of patience with crowd control these days?

Every time you pay buy a ticket to attend a concert of a band, you are paying their wages. These lyrics say how you pay for their career. “You pay the ticket/You pay their wages”

Corporate Settings is about paying your way in the music scene and paying dues. Corporate Settings is an example of one of the greatest hours in Texas punk rock history.

Karnak ‎– Calypso Breakdown / Hummin' single review

Karnak ‎– Calypso Breakdown / Hummin' is a calypso based house single which relies heavily on the calypso instrument. This house single is unique because of the reliance on the calypso instrument and the tribal house sound. Progressive house meets tribal house on this single. Karnak ‎– Calypso Breakdown / Hummin' is perfect tribal house music from the United Kingdom.

Calypso Breakdown is a 10 minute long house song which heavily on the calypso instrument. This song is a perfect example of tribal house. Calypso Breakdown also relies heavily on the Ralph MacDonald - Calypso Breakdown that played at 45 RPM which is were the calypso comes from. A few electronic synths and noises have been added on top of this sample. Karnak did that.

Hummin uses a 78 Hz bass test tone on top of the layers of instruments. Hummin is quite fast for a progressive house song as the BPM is 128 BPM.

Karnak ‎– Black Moon / White Rain single review

Karnak ‎– Black Moon / White Rain has such a powerful sound that will leave an impact on your ears. The sounds of house meet techno on this single. Karnak ‎– Black Moon / White Rain is the best tech house single from the United Kingdom in 1995 to have ever been pressed on vinyl. UK tech house can’t get any better than this. Everything released on the Tribal label during the 1990s was awesome!

The best producers had their hands producing in this single. Danny Tenaglia and Rob Di Stefano served as the executive producers for this Karnak single. Karnak did not mix this single all by himself as people would have you believe.

Black Moon is a heavy New York City house style electronic song with a tech house sound. The sound is quite similar to Detroit techno as well. The song is filled with such intensity from the synths, bass, beats, chords, and keyboards. You can feel the beats pulsing through your speakers. Now this song was and is still good to this very day currently.

White Rain was mixed by Craig Richards. The way Craig Richards mixes songs is simply amazing. His style is similar to Danny Tenaglia. The bass line and tribal drum beats are simply superb.

Kult Of Krameria ‎– Krameria Cuts single review

Kult Of Krameria ‎– Krameria Cuts is one of the earlier lesser known house releases from Portugal which dates back to 1994. Krameria Cuts is one of the works Kult Of Krameria self-produced. Now this single is more trance than tribal house as is the case with their other singles.

Dementia is driven by a heavy kick, djembes, and amp bass. The tempo and pace are quite fast for a trance song. Chanting at the end of this song is what helps with the buildup. One can say the beats are quite thick and heavy on Dementia. The tempo and pace on Good Bye Mr Wave are just as fast. Only there seems to be more synths used on this song than Dementia.

Kult Of Krameria ‎– Hopes & Dreams / Voodoo Drums single review

Kult Of Krameria ‎– Hopes & Dreams / Voodoo Drums is one of the lesser known house releases from Portugal. The whole single has that tribal house sound, feeling, mood, and vibe. The whole single has a great tribal sound. Instrumentation for the beats come from indigenous drums and Afrocentric drums. This single is a contrast reflection compared to their earlier work.

Hopes & Dreams uses a more techno influenced sound than a tribal house sound despite the tribal house sound being used in this song. Hopes & Dreams is not as strong as the song on the flip side which is Voodoo Drums. The song still serves as a good opener.

Voodoo Drums uses beats from indigenous drums and Afrocentric drums. Although thee song relies heavily on Afrocentric drums. That is why you hear bongos. The beat goes up when the bass kicks in. Voodoo Drums is a representation of great tribal sound coming from Portugal. The song is excelente! Voodoo Drums is still one of the strongest tribal tracks ever to have come from Portugal.

Kult Of Krameria ‎– Break My Bone / High Broadcaster single review

Kult Of Krameria ‎– Break My Bone / High Broadcaster is another one of those lesser known house releases from Portugal that got overlooked by house heads alike. The sounds of tech house meet tribal house on this single hence the tribal beats. Both songs on this single play at a fast pace of 125 BPM. This single was released as a digital download in 2013 on Beatport and traxsource.

Break My Bone uses a barrage of beats, shakers, and clavs in the instrumentation layers. The shakers and clavs are what help make this song stand out as the opening song for this single. You can also hear bongos playing simultaneously in the background lightly. A couple chord plucks from a harp are added into the mix. High Broadcaster uses more bongos and congas than Break My Bone. The song also uses less claves than Break My Bone. The pace is the same.

Nutsek - Dust To Dust EP EP review

Nutsek - Dust To Dust is not an EP meant for your average hip hop consumer.  This is not meant for your average hip hop consumer. No. This EP has wicked beats, bass notes, and vibes. Wicked vibes. This EP has that jazzy hip hop sound that is exotic. Jazzy hip hop is timeless and classy. Perfect for a nocturnal setting. It’s a shame that nobody is releasing music such as this nowadays.

DJ Nut (DJ Knud) and Sek (Jan Elhøj) from Copenhagen, Denmark came together to form Nutsek and release this timeless classic of an EP. Who knew hip hop and jazz from Denmark would be this dope?

The production on some of these songs will remind you of Danish contemporaries The Prunes and Boulevard Connection. Now the production on some of these songs is comparable to The Prunes. Nutsek seemed to have been influenced by the production of The Prunes when recording this EP in 1995.

This EP was released on the New Breed label out of New York City, New York. Dust To Dust was part of the New Breed "EP Series" which only issued limited edition vinyl releases of EPs, singles, and albums. So only a limited amount of copies of the Dust To Dust EP were pressed.

Graffiti has that dark grimy hip hop sound and vibe. The song uses warped bass notes and chords. The song is an aspect of city life and street life.

The jazzy saxophone on Rainy Day will rattle your bones as the song sends musical chills down your spine. The beats are driven by a kick drum. The sound is quite dark and grimy as the song Graffiti. Now the beats are thicker on this song than Graffiti.

The belligerent, provocative Richard Pryor sample on Women stands out because he talks about how women don’t have orgasms. The sample begins with: “And I just found out some time ago that sometimes women don’t have orgasms. And that fucked me up.” This ecstatic yet belligerent, provocative vocal sample is looped throughout Women.

The Richard Pryor sample of  “And I just found out some time ago that sometimes women don’t have orgasms. And that fucked me up.” came from the live album RICHARD PRYOR: LIVE IN CONCERT (1979).

The song follows a jazzy groove as the upright bass plays next to a saxophone and trombone. A clarinet can be heard fro a brief moment before being muffled out by the jazzy saxophone. Only a few know about this because most people don’t take the time to listen to the song closely. Not too brassy either. There’s no need to elaborate anymore with this sarcastic sample.

Mood starts off with a jazzy horn sample playing some notes which quickly transition into a dope jazzy beat. You could go for a walk in the park during daytime with this beat on. You could go on a late night or for a walk during a cold winter night with this beat on. That’s how dope this song is. The xylophone is what makes the song hypnotic and jazzy. The song follows a jazzy groove.

Mood was featured on the compilation Fat Jazzy Grooves Volume 14. Mood was also featured on another Fat Jazzy Grooves compilation in 1996.

*DJ Nut was the alias DJ Knud was using for this EP.
*Sek (Jan Elhøj) is the same Sek from Boulevard Connection from Copenhagen, Denmark. Sek was a ghostwriter who also produced hiphop with the Boulevard Connection in the 90s.

Passion Theatre ‎– Mannequin single review

Passion Theatre ‎– Mannequin is the most expensive new wave synth-pop single in the music market. The single usually goes for $200 dollars when sold online. Very rarely does this 12” inch vinyl single sell for a reasonable price. Passion Theatre ‎– Mannequin is an unusual new wave synth-pop single that got overlooked during the New Wave era of the 80s. The songs In Love With A Mannequin and Vacation Day are what make the single quirky and unusual.

In Love With A Mannequin is known for the sample “They're coming to get you, Barbara!” The song is backed by an electric bass guitar, a kick drum, synths, and a tambourine. The song has that 80s synth-pop sound and is known for such unusual subject matter as the song pokes fun at agalmatophilia. Big Engine samples the lyrics to their song Liar Taker.

The vocal sample at the beginning says, “They're coming to get you, Barbara! Stop it. You’re ignorant. They're coming to get you, Barbara! Stop it. You’re acting like a child. They’re coming after you.”

The quirky synth-pop song In Love With A Mannequin is about a person who falls in love with a mannequin. Staring at them with those gorgeous eyes from a window of a clothing store. A nicely dressed mannequin is staring down the aisle. That's when the person realized they are in love with a mannequin. That person only wishes the mannequin was real. Lyrics to the chorus say, “Oh, I’m in love with a mannequin/I only wish she was real”

Here are the lyrics that make this song creepy, “I wanna make love to a mannequin”

The Fiesta Mix of Mannequin is pure fire. That joint is lit. Mannequin (Fiesta Mix) is considered to be rare and hard to find elsewhere.

Vacation Day is backed a selection of guitars, drums, and synths. The bass is ultra thick. Now the bass and beats are what stand out on this new wave synth-pop song. Most notably, the volume is set to a high setting. The song uses the balearic style of house music.

The song is about taking off a day or two from work for vacation time. Such as a vacation on a tropical island for the summer where there is sunny weather.
