Princess Loko - Game Recognize Game album review
Princess Loko - Game Recognize Game is one of the more sought after Memphis rap albums which is difficult to obtain or even find anywhere. The obscurity of this album is what makes the value of this album so challenging to listen to. Her solo album "Game Recognize Game" is rare as is. She is so fucking dope! That woman could rap her ass off like nobody’s business. Her verses bumped hard as hell. Her, Lady J, and La Chat are the bestt female rappers out of Memphis, Tennessee. The album has that dark Memphis trap sound. Tommy Wright III produced her entire album. The beats Tommy used were way ahead of timeTommy orchestrated the dark nihilistic sound for her album.
Game Recognize Game was recorded around 2000. The recording process took an extensive period of time which lasted over 3 years. Tommy would sneak over to Loko’s house with a four track recorder while her mother was out. They would record verses in her bedroom. She was just 15 when these songs were recorded.
The album was later released in 2001 on cassette only and on CD eventually. There are more cassette pressings of this album available than on CD. Game Recognize Game was only available on physical copy. Promotion was done by posting using flyers and posters of her solo album all over Memphis and Mississippi. Promotion through word of mouth is how her album got around Memphis black in the early part of the 21st century. This album is what led her to have a die hard cult following and dedicated fanbase in not just Memphis but across the world.
Gangsta Bitch is one of her most savage songs ever. Loko effortlessly switches between choral chanting and versatile verses on Gangsta Bitch. The crowd cheers to the stadium-sized beat that crumbles beneath her. She doesn’t even really start ‘rapping’ in the non-repetitive sense until close to the 2:00 minute mark. Her technique is untouchable.
Princess Loko will blow away your brain with this .45 in her panty line. Princess Loko’s on a mission to pull a scheme up on a trick. Bullets in her clip. She steps to the door with her weapon. Then she starts to commence the killing.
Now “Blow away your brains with this 45 in my pantyline” is the hardest line for any female to say. What other female rapper has said that? This is probably the hardest verse she ever did rap. It’s so badass. This is an example of 90s gangsta rap at its best.
[Hook]
Princess Loko will blow away your brain with this .45 in my panty line
Princess Loko's on a mission to pull a scheme up on a trick
Blow away your brain with this four five in my panty line
Keep the chrome in my coat
Bullets in my clip hoe
Got the weapon then I’m stepping
At the door to commence the killing bitch
Blow away your brain with this four five in my panty line
Princess Loko’s on a mission to pull a scheme up on a trick
Keep the chrome in my coat
Bullets in my clip hoe
Blow away your brain with this four five in my panty line
She is showing off with this rap style of hers. Check out this funky flow. She is coming real trill as she has plans to kill. That is what the lyrics “Quick ‘cause I’m sleep with a bitch on my hit list/Chill as I’m coming trill feel this real been a peel/Steel in your ass as I kill with a silent bill” mean.
She forgot you bitches hoeing on that corner blowing. Are you hoes shy? Play for hammer head and you’ll get lead to your death bed. Princess Loko will be forever known as a no good player heart breaker and a nigga taker. How are you gonna splurge when you don’t know what this pimp is about? Back to the streets going of like a nice Swish. But if you tricks miss you´re fucking with a real gangsta bitch.
Watch out ladies! Princess Loko’s on your man. She planing to do a drive-by and a gank move. Princess Loko’s on a mission to pull a scheme up on a trick. Fuck the 5-0. Society don´t give a fuck about her. So she packs a gun. Loko is quick to pull the trigger than any average nigga.
Pimpin livin with this shit and dodging all you sorry bitches. Loko lays low with her nigga Lil Tino. She is all about that cash. Making cheese and laying low. She has got no time for none of you hoes. Come and get your wig split. You don´t want none of this.
The song Street Shit is self-explanatory. It’s all about the street shit. Her verses bump hard as hell here. Nothing else more needs to be said.
It´s a shame how you bitch ass cowards wanna splurge false accusations at Princess Loko. All this weak ass shit about how Princess Loko stopped breathing. These macing ass hoes take her style but dig her motherfucking pimpin. It ain’t about the weak shit. It’s all about the street shit. None of you want to fuck with Princess Loko. Princess Loko plans to take Memphis by storm with these lyrics of hers. Check out this funky flow. “Princess Loko coming like the wind on your funky ass/Taking Memphis by a storm”
Princess Loko is going to pop a gat through your skull. Leave your blood swapped in your face. You’ll be face down in a bodybag as paramedics drag you away. Loko leaves no trace. That is what the lyrics “Face a body bag as they and I leave no trace” are a reference to.
Back again on these bitches ‘cause Loko just got it like that. She has a gat in her hand. She has come with a master plan that she is finna lay down. Her plan is to lay her gat on his back like that. As they creep up, you know it’s on. It’s all about the street shit. She is smart of the fucking streets.
The high acousticness of I’m A G really stands out. You can tell there is a sense of liveness despite the song being a studio recording. The song is played in D Major through a majority of the time.
Still Pimpin is her most well known song around the world to date. Her technique is untouchable. Her flow is all over the place. Still Pimpin is definitely a Memphis classic. Still Pimpin is the most well known Memphis rap song around the world.

Tommy Wright III - Memphis Massacre album review
Tommy Wright III - Memphis Massacre is an example of early Memphis rap and crunk music. The production and style are similar to Gangsta Pat, DJ Zirk, and DJ Squeeky. He was quite similar to those contemporaries of the early 90s. Songs on this album include the street savvy Street Type Nigga, the nihilistic Out Of Darkness, the bloody Memphis Massacre, and grotesque Shoot To Kill. The album is quite dark for an album that was released in 1992.
Street Type Nigga represents how Tommy Wright III is a street savvy nigga who is educated in this life of crime. Although his street credentials are nothing to boast and brag about or be proud of, Tommy has no trouble of making his criminal escapades public knowledge.
Tommy Wright III is a street type of nigga (street type nigga). You know, the kind with that long Jheri Curl. He is a player to his heart because he can’t just stick to one lady. Tommy has to sell drugs because he unemployed. There is a lack of employment and job opportunities in Memphis, Tennessee. Hardly any jobs are available. Trouble is just something that is unavoidable.
He never leaves his house without packing a gun. He rolls in style as he drives a Fleetwood Cadillac with dark tinted windows so he can’t be seen. His pants are sagging so his underwear can show. His hair is braided in a Jheri Curl style. A beeper is on his waist so he can have easy access to his contacts. Despite the fact that he gets a lot of money, he dresses as if he were broke. He hangs out at the corner of her block where the liquor store is located. He enjoys spending most of his time selling dope. Fucking bitches like junkies is something else he constantly does.
Tommy Wright III is a mean motherfucker from the street. He hustles on all the street corners. Cutting with women and dope. A cool ass nigga like him taking no shit from them bitches. Doing 211s (robberies) are not his style. He slangs and sells cocaine and make it worth while. Tommy Wright III is known to sell amphetamines and slang crack rock. When you see him on the street, you see him with a pack. He is sky high smokin' on that reefer. Impervious to pain is what he is. If your ass gets out of line, you’ll get that ass gatted, trick. So many niggas dead it’s a motherfucking shame. Crazy ass dope man. Street type nigga.
Shoot To Kill is a grotesque murderous track filled with violence. The song is about killing people as evidenced from the title.
Tommy Wright III is the last of MC´s because the others all left. He is never looses a battle because he fights until the last breath. He creeps with a gun. So don’t talk crap. He’ll shoot a motherfucker in less than a minute. He never runs when it’s time to spray. His rhyming scheme is quite clever and street savvy. Read these lyrics, “As I blast like a rocket/Keeping clips in my back pocket”
So put on your black mask and gloves before you ride. ’Cause it’s gonna be hell if you can be identified. Dead bodies are hauled off to were suckers get broke and can’t cope.
Tommy is like a warrior who fights like a barbarian with strength like the incredible Hulk. An uzi and a tech 9 are what he is carrying. Those are the firearms in his possession. He is launching MC´s like a catapult with strength like the incredible Hulk. Leaving niggas dead without a box. He cut off their heads, freezes them, and hangs them up on the wall to show that he wants to brawl and nail them so they won’t fall. He is just like a hitman. Tommy for hire.
He hate to see blood but I love to see bloodshed. He’s violent as hell when it comes to this type of shit. Quite questionable if you ask me. Tommy is a gangster, pimp and player. Just beware. Because he doesn’t care about your welfare or well-being. You niggas know the deal. Tommy Wright the 3rd Shoots To Kill.
H is for homicide and A is attack. So get the fuck back. Run in the house and look out the crack of the window. When he is shooting he wants somebody to die. Wasting bullets is when/while everyone is still alive something he hates doing. Tommy was brought up to beat tricks up making them wish they was locked up. That’s what they get for tryna buck with a nigga from Memphis.
The only job he has is keeping the cemetery full. His clothes are red from the blood of all his victims he killed. Compared to his speed, your punch is slow as his last. Don’t ever try to battle him because he fights dirty. Tommy keeps robbing niggas because he’s broke. There are so many holes in a nigga you think he had polka dots. If you really want mercy get on your knees and kneel to pray. No use in begging because Tommy gets loose without sympathy. Sending tricks to the med with a broke leg or two.
If he ain’t got my pistol, he’ll bust your head with a bottle of brew. One of his niggas will bust your face up with axes. It is guarantied you will need an autopsy after the massacre, mayhem, and murder when he is through. Going round for round in combat mode. There is no escape when he begins slay and spray. He is on that other level. He is gunning in the mist of this combat. Comin´ from the streets of hell. Teaching a lesson with a blessing from this Smith and Wesson. Leaving the scene of the crime like he ain’t did shit.
He is direct with his lyricism. “And when I shoots to kill you know I’m shooting directly at anyone/
I’m chewing motherfuckers like annihilators/And when I fight I’m throwing nothing but haymakers”
The nihilistic Out Of Darkness is explains one of Tommy’s jewelry stealing escapades as he plays the role of a jewel thief in the night. Tommy is going out tonight with a plan to rob the jewelry store. He is armed with handguns.
Tonight is a hit. Instead of going out, getting his hair done, and smoking “bones” (cannabis joints), Tommy plans on robbing a jewelry store. Tommy climbed onto the roof of the jewelry store. He stomps around on top the roof to create a hole in the ceiling. He then kicks in the ceiling and enters the store. Tommy disabled the security system by cutting off the camera. And he is certain nobody will call the police on a man armed with loaded handguns.
However his plans to rob the jewelry store go interrupted when he hears a siren. Memphis Police Department arrive at the jewelry store. He proceeds to escape by climbing out of the nearest window. Police follow Tommy on foot which leads to a foot chase.
Police let the German Shepard go. Tommy shoots the German Shepard dead between the eyes unexpectedly. He starts gunning afterwards. Police follow him.
Tommy Wright has a short conversation on his cellular phone with his friends asking for assistance. He tells them to be on the scene with backup when he arrives to his destination. He disposes his burner (gun). This is what he said on his cellular phone, "Listen up closely, I don't have much time. I got a gang of police on me and I'm coming down Shelby Drive" He knows to do from past street experiences.
Tommy continues to escape from the Memphis Police Department on foot. Tommy Wright continues to run down Shelby Drive.
However the foot chase soon comes to a halt as nothing but blue lights, flashlights, and spotlights surrounded Tommy and his cohorts like an animal. Gunshots were exchanged. Then he caught a .38 special in the rib cage. He then dies.

Kidd-X - The Unknown album review
Kidd-X - The Unknown one of the lesser known Bay Area rap albums that have been very much overlooked and overshadowed. The album leaned toward using a more East Coast rap sound than the usual West Coast rap sound that was prevalent and burgeoning in the Bay Area during that time. This album uses touches of jazz hop, jazz rap, and soul. We (Represent), Worse Thing In This World, No M.C. Has, M.C.’s, and Payback are examples of tracks that use samples from jazz songs and soul songs. Rap from San Jose tends to get overlooked as Bay Area rap fans tend to buy music from Oakland, San Francisco, Palo Alto, Vallejo, or Richmond. This album is one of those example of overlooked Bay Area rap albums.
Worst Thing In This World uses a mixture of jazz and hip hop. Kidd-X raps in an East Coast rough neck style as he kicks mad rhymes. Kidd-X stood out here. Worse Thing In This World uses a tinge of soul music over a jazz sample.
The song Payback heavily relies on the funky soulful sample of James Brown - Payback. A handful of collected samples are used throughout the song.
Kidd-X rips MC’s to shreds on We (Represent) as he is on the prowl to take out wack MC’s. The song is about who is the baddest MC. Classic lyrical rap is what this song is. Plado from the Twisted Mind Kids contributes to the track with his vocals. We (Represent) samples Grover Washington, Jr - Tell Me About It Now.
Kidd-X on the prowl to rip MC’s to shreds. Especially wack MC’s. He also rips folks to shreds. He does not stop when he raps on the mic. You know who’s the baddest. He practices with his rhymes. That is how he gets better at rapping. His skills are dynamite. He’ll serve you something phat from your menu. A microphone is what he uses to rock the crowd.
Kidd-X is on the hunt for wack MC’s. He is about to break them down. Suckers are trying to burn him. How are they going to test him? Their knowledge is minimal. This makes him really mad. So he cuts them up like meat in a scullery.

Shawty Pimp - Comin’ Real Wit It album review
Shawty Pimp came real with it with his slick yet esoteric pimp raps on his 1995 Comin’ Real Wit It. He brings out the best in Memphis pimp rap on songs such as Kickin’ Pimpin’ and Play No Playa. While you got your average Memphis rap songs such as Gotta Make A Killin, My 9 Glock, and One Mean Stain. Despite any shortcomings or flaws, Comin’ Real Wit It is certainly a Memphis classic which does not get the respect or recognition truly deserved.
Shawty Pimp and Reddog break us off something proper with their classic witty lyrics on Break You Off. Reddog picks up from where he left off on Break You Off. And can't nobody but the big boys dig this shit. You know what I'm saying? They’re gonna kick some pimpin' for you niggas out there. And for you pimpin' ass niggas out there.
Shawty Pimp raps the repetitive and catchy lyrics to the hook. Repetitive catchy hooks are common in Memphis rap songs.
[Hook]
Loced out, pistol grip in the trunk, stunt blunt
Got me doing some stupid shit, monkey bitches make me click
Loced out, pistol grip in the trunk, stunt blunt
Got me doing some stupid shit, monkey bitches make me click
Loced out, pistol grip, loced out, pistol grip
Loced out, pistol grip, loced out, pistol grip
Loced out, pistol grip in the trunk, stunt blunt
Got me doing some stupid shit, monkey bitches make me click
Reddog is on the track, booming crack. He puts the gat to your back. Fuck you now with no love. Niggas is constantly catching slugs. He’s all loced out with the pistol grip in the trunk.
Reddog kicks off Verse 1 with some slick esoteric pimp rap. Read these lyrics here for instance.:
Claiming you the shit bitch, now you in the fucking clique
Trick did I give you permission to off the mouth with that fucking bullshit?
Down these bitches killing me, talking bout some twelve play
Pull my shit out on that bitch, fucking grind on this dick
You can be my private hoe and I can be your private teacher
Get your ass out there and make my ends, I come right back and meet you
Collect up all my shit 'cause a nigga known I pimp these hoes
Coming clean with the bow, chargin' hoe, that's how it go
Mane, Reddog don't give a fuck about these motherfucking hoes. He is too busy to be caring about them hoes as he is busting heads and breaking necks. He don’t have time to be putting them in check.
Why is Reddog so real? Because he is just so trill and is on some gangster shit. Nigga you better know the deal, 'cause a bitch will try to steal. That is just life in the prostitution game.
These lyrics use an esoteric punch where pronouns are used.
'Cause it really don't make me run 'cause I've had my fucking gun
In my pants, on my hand, raining bullets, feeling like Superman
Through the air, you never know, when them things might hit you, hoe
On the shit, as I click, feed a bitch really quick
Party too thick for you trick, nigga they breaking you off something, bitch
Reddog uses even more violent and esoteric lyrics in Verse 2. Read the words and lyrics to Verse 2 here for instance.:
Sipping up on some Alize, better get out my fucking face
Watch me rip out my shit, Tec-9 bitch to your dick
Chop you up like Jeffrey Dahmer, kill your ass just for fun
Just like my nigga Koopsta Knicca, lend me your fucking body no
Then I fucked 'em in they fucking car
Then you know I pull out my 98 Glock on that bullshit
Shawty Pimp uses his slick yet esoteric pimp raps on Kickin’ Pimpin’. That is what makes this song of his an undeniable classic yet an under-appreciated Memphis rap classic. Can't nobody but the big boys dig this shit. You know what I'm saying? They’re gonna kick some pimpin' for you niggas out there 'cause it ain't gonna never die. And for you pimpin' ass niggas out there.
Shawty Pimp is just smoking sacks and drinking yak with Mista K and Reddog. He is kickin' back like a man. Some niggas are all around their motherfucking hall. Killing when they get them bitches on that motherfucking track.
Riding in the Cutlass thing, sweating up on them bitches, mane. See you gotta understand that this is just a pimping game. Shawty Pimp gotta play the bill 'cause a real nigga is trill. Booming yay so you know a true ass nigga making bills. Best believe Shawty Pimp is nevеr falling short.
Niggas be getting into that gangster shit too much. So Shawty Pimp keeps it at a pimping level with his game and hustle. All while making cash everyday. Bitches on his dick. Why them niggas keep on talking shit? Laid back, kickin', straight up pimpin’.
One Mean Stain deals with being trapped in an endless cycle of poverty. Shawty Pimp is trapped. One Mean Stain relies heavily on the sample of Roy Ayers Ubiquity - Everybody Loves the Sunshine.
Shawty Pimp has a lot on his mind as he is trying think of what to do. Shawty Pimp is broke as a motherfucker. There ain't no money coming through. It's been like this for a couple of weeks. He has think of a plan before he kills the next man. With a Glock in hand, he’s a wild man caught up in this life of crime. Shawty Pimp is about to get this man. Shawty Pimp has been trailing his ass for fifteen minutes. He waits in the driveway. The driveway leads up to a big ass house in Germantown. He took his dope and money too 'cause that's what a pimp is supposed to do. He also took his wedding ring. A nigga known for everything.
Shawty Pimp is now out looking for more hoes to trick. So I pulled out his .44, rushed the door, and threw them down.
Play No Playa is quite a harmonic rhythmic gangsta rap/pimp rap song which samples Anita Baker - Whatever It Takes. You can’t play no playa. You busters better recognize.
Shawty Pimp and Reddog are in the middle of this dope game. Reddog's on the motherfucking set in the campaign. ‘Cause a nigga know it's you, automatic weapon fool. You might try to kill him in and assassination attempt but he ends up killing you instead. That is what the lyrics “You might try to kill me, in attempts I end up killing you” mean.
Bodies have been buried in the ground. You hoes that are talking shit can suck his dick. Shawty Pimp is cool and straight legit.
Shawty Pimp and Reddog explain how they execute their pimp game in these lyrics below.
Bеtter make my money hoе, if you know what's best for you
If you wanna keep your life, I suggest I keep on pimping you
Mane I'm getting richer from these hoes while my cash flow
Living like a, that's whatever you call it, I'm born it hoe
'Cause you know the shit I kick, pimping keeps my pockets thick
On you funky, shady bitches, having you hoes clock all my riches
Just because I dog on hoes, maybe even slap a hoe
Shawty Pimp just let us know that you cannot play a playa. He breaks down game to you lames and you busters. Beware as he is breaking wimps and breaking simps. To a player in the hood, cracking dollars in the street, stay clocking them dollars. Don’t weaponize a player when he's standing in your face, bitch. Him and Shawty Pimp making these hoes pay what they weigh. Living day by day. Sipping on that E & J.

Bad Mutha Goose and the Brothers Grimm - Be Somebody EP review
Bad Mutha Goose and the Brothers Grimm - Be Somebody is a motivational woke EP/single filled with messages that a motivational speaker would say. The EP is filled with uplifting themes with positivity inside of them with a funky instrument ensemble. Bad Mutha Goose will kind of remind you Sam Salter in some way. Production was done by Joe "The Butcher" Nicolo and Tim Kerr. Tim Kerr and Yoggie Mosgrove were the brains and bread behind Bad Mutha Goose. Be Somebody was their legendary EP that was released on vinyl in 1987.
Be Somebody was the song that everybody played at house parties in Austin back in the 80s. Be Somebody is the lead single and title song of this funky vernacular EP/single. Be Somebody is an educational taste of motivational philosophy. Most of the messages in this song are quotes that a motivational speaker would say. Be Somebody is about being someone and just being yourself. You don't ever hear this type of funk in music anymore in this day and time.
To set your mind right. Just be original. Just let you be you. Be Somebody! Get out there and do something! It's better than doing nothing at all really. There is a minority of us of that have mental power to not be spineless zombies. It’s just us and laziness that holding us and each other back. We’ve come a long way but we still have a long way to go.
We all know that everyone in life has ups and downs. The only way to keep your head above water is to set your mind right. So try a little harder. When times are tough, you gotta get tougher. Set your mind right if you have envision a dream you want to achieve. You gotta keep pushing along in life. Just let yourself be original and don't be fake with the rest of the people in modern society.

Jump The Funk is the classic 80s funk jam that made the Bad Mutha Goose band famous in the music scene and in music of Austin otherwise. Jump The Funk had house parties in Austin rockin' out back in the day. If you were educated and informed about the social scene and party scene here in Austin, Texas, then you’d know about this song. This is one of those party on the boat dock at the top of the boat jams. This jam will make you want to get up and dance!

Geno V – Take Me Serious album review
Geno V – Take Me Serious is one of the more overlooked Christian Latin music albums and Christian rap albums out there. The album Geno V - Take Me Serious sold 15,000 units independently back in 1994. Geno V brought his Hip-Spanic Music (a blend of Spanish and English rap incorporated with Tejano and Tex-Mex) to the mic. The tracks are firme and tight.
Rapture deals with transport (a believer/believers) from earth to heaven at the Second Coming of Christ and the transporting of believers to heaven at the Second Coming of Christ.
Este Vato copies the percussion ensemble kit of Santana - Oye Como Va. The Latin samba comes complete with the percussion sample. The percussion ensemble is played in a virtuoso manner as the song quickly turns into a Latin dance melody. Geno V uses a twist of linguistics in word from the Spanish language. He uses both English and Spanish languages. (Este Vato is "That Friend" in Spanish.)
Chisme quickly turns into an upbeat Latin samba dance melody of happiness. The beats are loco! The entire chorus sings in Spanish as Geno V raps in Spanish. Maracas and bongos are added to spice of Spanish flavor in this song. Such bongos are appropriate to match the upbeat tempo of the percussion as Chisme is a heavy percussion song.
