Lil Romeo - Game Time album review

Lil Romeo - Game Time was the follow-up album to his 2001 debut album. While Lil Romeo’s 2002 album Game Time was not as successful as his debut album, nearly every song is memorable due to the beats and production. Those hard banging beats stood the test of time. Even today those beats produced by Mike Diesel and XL stand out. Lil Romeo’s Game Time album is a kid friendly pop rap album that is family friendly no doubt. Everything from love ballads, nursery rhymes, to freestyles are included. The album has that crossover appeal due to that pop rap sound and production of course.

Clap Your Hands (Clap Yo Hands) is a silly children’s song with quirky synths and pads performed by Lil Romeo and Lil D. The song is a duo. Clap Your Hands (Clap Yo Hands) was used on Lil Romeo’s 2002 album Game Time.

So if you like Lil Romeo, Lil D, No Limit, and Master P, clap your hands. Lil D loves ballin and flossin. He is not one for talking. He shops often. He has been in love ballin ever since started crawling. Girls calling while he’s performing. Lil D is hot now. So he’s come here to shake the spot. Little D is in the 6th grade but you know he’s got bank. He rolls with a tank. Platinum iced out from his neck and wrist. He’s got a couple of candy girls that laid the zone. When the school bell rings, you know it's on.

Still Be There is a rendition and beautiful cover of Teena Marie - Young Love with a kid friendly twist. Sera Lynn sings beautifully on the chorus. This cover of Teena Marie - Young Love which will just blow your ears away. Honestly this cover version of Young Love is the best cover so far next to Lisa Amos cover. Lil Romeo explains that he will still be there for their love whether young or old.

Lil Romeo remembers way back in them kindergarten classes during snack time the way she her smile used to shine. How they used to line up in a single file line with their classmates to recess. She was watching Lil Romeo develop his basketball skills. She took his heart away.

A few years have passed and Lil Romeo has still has the same feelings. He got more popular with the fame as a rap star, actor, and basketball player. He doesn’t know if there is something. All his friends tell him to concentrate and keep his grades good as the NBA is in his future. It's puppy love. It's more like a crush and they can keep it on the hush.

They are in the 7th grade now and Lil Rome is stunnin like a super star referee making it as an all star point guard and it's funny because he still feels the same way. She’s noticed that he is lookin her way. But through it all she is still shy. They can still grow together and they can still stay strong. Young girl, why you wanna grow older? Young or old baby I’ma still be there.

The song Too Long marked Lil Romeo’s comeback for 2002. This reintroduced him to the pop market and overgrowing rap scene. He dedicated the song to everyone who ever supported him.

This song is going out to all his fans that bought his albums. They keep a smile on Romeo’s face every time he waves. He gives them acknowledgment and props for helping him shine and giving him a chance. Lil Romeo couldn’t be himself without his fans. Lil Romeo loves music but really does it for ya'll. This is for the kids from state to state. It's a wonderful feeling whenever he walks through the mall. Love, admiration, and support is what he needs. It's a wonderful thing. Can't believe he stayed away too long. Did Lil Romeo leave your mind when he was gone? Whoever thought that a 12 year old could touch souls?

When times are hard and you’re breaking in tears, just look on your side because he’ll be right there. Okay. Rest In Peace to everybody in the world that passed.

Lil Romeo boasts and brags about his wealth on the song Richie Rich. He also boasts about his success as a rapper and basketball player. Richie Rich is based on the song and sample of Special Ed's "I Got It Made".

Romeo is your idol with the highest title. He’s got the gift to speak and its a blessing so listen the lesson he preaches. He talks with a sense of cadence to the phone of his poem. He’s knowledge from the toe to the top of his dome. He’s young but his tongue speaks maturity. Lil Romeo has it made as he is rich.

He is talented and gifted. Money ain't nothing to him as he makes a million dollars with every record that he records. Lil Romeo makes fresh rhymes daily.

Lil Romeo is spoiled because everything that he wants he has got made. He wanted gear. He’s got everything from cotton and suede. He ears money from royalties every time his music videos are played. His hair was growing too long. So he got his hair braided. And when his dishes got dirty, he got himself a maid. And when the weather was hot he found himself a spot in the shade. He is wise because of his top grades.

Lil Romeo and Master P will make you dance with their song Make U Dance. The song uses simplistic rhymes in a kid friendly manner. The song is a follow-up and continuation of the song Make You Dance from his 2001 debut album.

If you wanna dance, I'ma make you dance. And if you wanna move, I'ma make you move. But if you down with No Limit say Romeo. No Limit. Respect it. It’s game time and Lil Romeo came to win it. He is getting paid off his skills. The ballin' ain't easy. The girls love him and you know the game needs him. The Miller boys are holdin' it down with Romeo on the The New No Limit.

Fans get crazy whenever he goes to the mall. There are autograph signings when he walks in the door. He has  done did a whole lot and is barely a teenager. The P. Miller gear he wears is so clean. It's his raps or how he plays basketball. Still lone and seen.

A baby hummer wasn't enough for Lil Romeo. So he had to purchase himself a Jaguar. Lil Romeo does not lie about anything. Look at his father Master P. He’s got the south on lock and sound on lock. Whodie, he is the best here. No Limit sweats and sneakers are the best gear. The girls love him when I step on the stage with his baby face going and his hair in the braids. He acknowledges that his body guards hate when he stops and waves. Lil Romeo has been in more cities than birthdays. The Miller boys are holdin' it down with Romeo on the The New No Limit.

You know Romeo travels worldwide from the west to the east. He can't drive. So instead he has a chauffeur to transport him places. He can't drive. So in the passenger seat. Girls are constantly chasing him around. He is platinum plus, whodie. Check the fan mail. Who's stopping him now? You know he’s got the club jumpin’ like Destiny's Child. Lil Romeo’s a mini-millionaire. Pick a park to play. Six Flags, baby girl. You can have it your way.

Now there are differences in the lyrics to the 2002 version versus the 2001 version. Compare the lyrics from both versions to each other and read them. Afficial’s verses are not in the 2002 version for whatever reason(s). Lil Zane’s verse did not appear on the 2002 version due to a rights issue. He was signed to Priority Records at the time and Universal Records needed permission to include his verse on the 2002 version. Allusion aka Erica Fox sings the chorus to both versions.

Here are the lyrics to the 2002 version.

[Intro: Lil Romeo]
Yo, this is for the angels out there
What's up Aaliyah, and to my fans...
Thanks for makin' me who I am, ok

[Verse 1: Lil Romeo]
Yeah, y'all know me
I'm the only kid my age you've seen with a crib on TV
But that's it respect it, you know No Limit
Game Time and I came to win it
I don't play with 'em baby baller, for real
S320 gettin' paid off my skill
My Daddy showed me how I could do that there
Supersize all the plaques put braids in my hair
It's Lil Rome kickin' it with big Peezy
Mack daddies, the ballin' ain't easy
The girls love me and you know the game needs me
Platinum records, we doin' the thing easy

[Verse 2: Lil Romeo]
I don't know if it's my raps or how I play ball
But they act crazy when I go to the mall
Autograph signings when I walk in the door
It's like I'm servin' ice cream, I have you rushin' the store
Still lone and seen, P. Miller gear so clean
I done did a whole lot and I'm barely a teen
The girlies say they love me it must be the genes
Cuz every time, they see me and my Dad they scream, ok

[Verse 3: Lil Romeo]
Baby Hummer wasn't enough, had to get me a Jag
And I don't lie about nothin', man, look who my Dad
Got the sound on lock, whodi, I'm the best here
P. Miller sweats and sneaks we got the best gear
The girls love me when I step on the stage
When my babyface glowin' and my hair in a braid
I know the bodyguards hate when I stop and wave
And I been in more cities than I have birthdays

The New No Limit you need me, just hit me (Romeo, Romeo, Hey Romeo)
You know I travel worldwide from the west to the east
I can't drive, I got a chauffeur, I'm in the passenger seat
Girls chasin' me around, wanna know my plans is

I'ma tell you why I'm here, who's stoppin' me now?
They know I got a club Jumpin' like Destiny Child

Six flags, babygirl, you can have it your way

Here are the lyrics to the 2001 version.

[Verse 1: Lil Romeo]

Girls chasin' me around, wanna know my plans is

[Verse 2: Lil Zane]
Hey

A lotta homies lookin out for him
First one to the south on him

Single mother me and my brother watch you from the kitchen
Had a little gray pot she used to cook grits in
And I don’t know a broken home that ain't worth fixin’

[Verse 3: Lil Romeo]
Baby Hummer wasn't enough, had to get me a Jag
And I don't lie about nothin', man, look who my Dad

Nomad – Wilderness Wanderer album review

Nomad – Wilderness Wanderer is one of those Quiet Storm soul rap albums from Sacramento, California which is relatively unknown and obscure. His songs have that smooth subtle Quiet Storm and soulful sound to them while he raps at a conscious angle. Nomad – Wilderness Wanderer is a lost soul gem from the 90s era. At the time there was not a lot of money in the Sacramento rap soul scene. The Sacramento rap soul scene was very homegrown at the time. There was and is tremendous talent on the album here.

Nomad – Wilderness Wanderer is one of the lesser known unreleased albums from the infamous Black Market Records out of Sacramento, California. The reason why this album was not released on Black Market Records is because the album did not fit the gangsta rap image and mold the label had been going on projecting at the time. So Nomad took the masters to all his songs and re-recorded some of them. So the title of Nomad - Wilderness Wanderer was changed to Nomad – Paths We Walk which was released independently on cassette in 1996.

The production was done by Raymond Santellano and Nomad (Jay McIntyre) himself. But for the most part Raymond Santellano handled the production.  Ced Singleton had noting to do with the production since he did not produce the album.

Some of you remember that these songs from 4 track cassette single which was released on Black Market Records in 1993. Nomad (Jay McIntyre) had a 4 track single called Ruff’n It/Spiritual Environment that had a down to earth subtle Quiet Storm vibe. Both tracks have that smooth subtle Quiet Storm/soul sound to them. Ruff’n It/Spiritual Environment is a lost soul gem from the 90s era. Black Market Records dropped the ball by not promoting this single the right way it should have been.

Ruff’n It sounds similar to song title about romantic rough sex, but that’s not the case with this song. Ruff’n It is a smooth mellow soul song with an Afrocentric touch and a slightly romantic R&B touch. Afrocentric beats are used in this song. A tune such as this one is quite heartfelt. Nomad proves to be rough in it on Ruff’n It.

There are 2 versions of Ruff’n It. This is the original version of Ruff'n It. The original version of Ruff'n It is much different from the version on his 1996 album Paths We Walk.

All you environmentalists and people who love Mother Earth will love this song as Nomad gets in touch with Mother Earth here. In this song he talks about escaping the fast paced hustle and bustle of working a 9 to 5 by looking for spiritual freedom.

Nomad talks about how he had to break from the typical rat race routines such as working a 9 to 5. He sold some of his material possessions. He travels far away where the nearest town is 30 miles away. His journey begins in the open wilderness. Here he thanks the Lord for what’s bestowed down up on him. Damn it feels good to begin again in life. That is how looking for spiritual freedom feels when you leave the city.

All you environmentalists and people who love Mother Earth with love Spiritual Environment. People who love Mother Nature will surely love this song. The Spiritual Environment song was dedicated to people who are down for peace with Mother Earth. This composition/song was written as an effort of peace. Nomad gives us a spiritual awakening by taking us on a spiritual journey through Spiritual Environment. Also Nomad attempts raise spiritual awareness inside of Spiritual Environment.

Nomad discusses the trials and tribulations of his nomadic lifestyle on a daily basis while searching for spiritual freedom. His roots travel deep into the Earth like a sequoia. He is free like the wind. Feeding off rain and sunlight.

The song has deep lyrics. “Knowledge of my world travels far and beyond/Signs that are deeper than the deeper ponds” and “Silence falls over my surrounding with a solitude/Night creeps in with a chill and a dark hue/Everything is calm in the cypher that I represent/These conquers all that are in my spiritual environment/Close your eyes and tell the people what you see”

The track called Paths We Walk is one of those spiritual guidance tracks which help people who are lost and need motivation in their life.

Nomad goes on a spiritual journey on Trek With Me. He vents out his frustration and anger about what is wrong modern day society on Trek With Me in a calm soothing manner.

D-Flexx – Planet Playa album review

D-Flexx – Planet Playa is an album which incorporates funk and soul into that phat Bay Area Mobb sound given the album a purified old school feeling and lyrical flavor. Funk and soul meet Bay Area rap due to the production. D-Flexx broght his own fresh style of rap called “syrup” which is Southern lyrical flavor as he brought that Southern style of rap to the table being that he is from Shreveport, Louisiana. The production team (Hacim & Crazy 8) came tight with that smooth G-Funk. Their production work was phenomenal.

The tightest underground record label around almost never fails to disappoint. Yet D-Flexx – Planet Playa is one of Black Market Records lesser known albums which did not get as much promotion as their other albums in their catalog. This album went sorely overlooked and flew under the radar. Despite being under-promoted and overlooked, the album D-Flexx – Planet Playa had outstanding success in the Bay Area and the South. D-Flexx – Planet Playa made it to a position at Top Ten on the BillBoard Charts in 1997. D-Flexx's debut album Planet Playa was released on April 29, 1997.

Only God Knows is one of those songs to listen when you are feeling down and no one will listen to you. Or when things aren’t going your way. D-Flexx teaches and explains to us there is no love in the ghetto. The song deals with survival in the ghetto and how to survive in the ghetto.

The song uses a touch of funk given that the sample used is The Gap Band - Yearning For Your Love. The production team (Hacim & Crazy 8) came tight with that smooth G-Funk. Their production work was phenomenal. Only God Knows made it to a position at Top Ten on the BillBoard Charts in 1997. The song had outstanding success that year.

The song Murder One Lyrics is one of his more darker songs due to the subject matter, lyrics, beats, sound, and production. Bass and beats what bring forth a sense of intensity. The darkness in the sound, production, and lyrics are what stand out. You’ll definitely feel this song.

The way he makes his lyrics rhyme are impeccable. Here are some examples of he makes his dark lyrics rhyme.

Fly like a sparrow
On point like an arrow

Caning niggaz like Singapore
Bring more metaphor menoir

Bring more metaphor menoir
The shit that you can’t cure
I’m hard feel like hieroglyphics

Fly like a sparrow
On point like an arrow
When I’m aiming
Caning niggaz like Singapore
Bring more metaphor menoir
The shit that you can’t cure
I’m hard feel like hieroglyphics
Apocalyptic
Play like Shaq and get lifted

10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, murder one lyrics at ya door!

D-Flexx lets his aggression, fury, and anger on Mad At The World. You can obviously tell by looking at the song title alone. This is definitely one of his darker songs.

A touch of R&B and funk are brought in on Playaz Play. The song uses dark sounding beats over R&B chords. His rhymes are decent as always. The perfect song to play during sexual intercourse or a romantic night alone with your lover.

MC2 And JDog  – Killers And Dealers In Violent Areas album review

If you’re a fan of rare Sacramento rap, then MC2 And JDog  – Killers And Dealers In Violent Areas is the perfect album for you and is right up your alley. The beats are pretty sick on all of the tracks. The album is a  certified banger. If you have heard the entire album you would know they were ahead of their time. Randy Lacy was the executive producer on this album.

Sadly this album was overlooked and under-promoted for its time and release date. There are several reasons as to why this album never went anywhere. Bad timing, racism, and incarceration is what led this album to be overlooked and under-promoted.

This album was recorded in 1994 but was not released until 1999 because Randy Lacy was incarcerated in federal prison. The album was supposed to be released in 1995 but wasn’t due to Randy Lacy being incarcerated federal prison. This slowed down promotion for/of their debut album.

Being that both MC2 and JDog were white, they received backlash and hate from haters who were racist. Randy Lacy was the only person to give MC2 and JDog a chance and they received a lot of flack for it from all of the haters.

That is why this album never went anywhere.

The song "Flipped" was the first song MC2 And JDog ever recorded which set the pace for the rest of the album. That song is a favorite among many including the executive producer. Smoker's Club was their underground hit which featured Mr. Doctor and Brotha Lynch Hung. How many hits does it take?! The world may never know.

House Faze / Deep Dimensions – Can You Feel It? / Come...With...Me... single review

House Faze / Deep Dimensions – Can You Feel It? / Come...With...Me... is some of the most futuristic sounding releases in house music. The single was ahead its time of release. The single is Den Bravo’s first deep house production. He is the mastermind behind the music in association with John Roc Mateo And Eddie EZ Matos. It's a "Deep Dimensions" production.

The song Come...With...Me... is one of the most futuristic sounding songs in house music. The song was ahead of its time. The song is Den Bravo’s first deep house production in association with John Roc Mateo And Eddie EZ Matos. He is the mastermind behind the music. The balance between the flutes and static are incredible. Come...With...Me... contains samples of Peech Boys - Don't Make Me Wait.

The song Come...With...Me...was produced and mixed at Bob Blank Studio in Connecticut. The amazing sounds were from the Korg M1 and the only sample taken was the "Come..with...Me" vocal. The rest of the song was written, played and produced by Den Bravo. It was mixed and also produced by Mateo & Matos. (John Mateo and Eddie "EZ" Matos). The M1 was a very popular synth at that time.

Can You Feel It? has some of the deepest sounds ever. The beats leave much to be desired. Some orgasmic vocal samples collected from various films were used.

Armand Van Helden ‎– 2 Future 4 U EP EP review

Armand Van Helden ‎– 2 Future 4 U EP is some of the best work from Armand Van Helden. This release was futuristic and ahead of its time. House legend Armand Van Helden put together a legendary release that has stood the test of time and still stands the test of time. A handful of Latin influenced beats and drums are used all over the place.

Entra Mi Casa is one of his more sexually explicit songs on the EP. There is sexually explicit content. Anyone for adult entertainment, come closer. Entra Mi Casa is a climatic and orgasmic piece of house in musical form. The song uses a barrage of Latin house drums and beats over a merengue loop. This house masterpiece was put together by Armand Van Helden. That woman's seductive voice and choice of words in the lyrics are what made this song irresistible. Entra Mi Casa samples Los Sabrosos Del Merengue - Sabroso y Soltero.

No one can sample someone sawing wood with a handheld manual saw and interpolate that into a song the way Armand Van Helden can. Which is what he did on the song Necessary Evil. This is truly an unorthodox track which definitely stood out from everything else at the time. Those beats fitted in perfectly with the saw in the background layer.

Andy Roberts ‎– Big Daddy Vibes single review

Andy Roberts ‎– Big Daddy Vibes is one of the lesser known electronic singles which people heard even know about. The single is a bass influenced house single given that many of the song use have bass lines. Big Daddy Vibes and Pushover are some examples. You also have the  blues influenced electronic song Andy's Fanfare.

The song and title track Big Daddy Vibes is a bass driven house song backed by handclaps and looped synths. The beginning uses a rhythmic horn section filled with static backed by handclaps which lasts from 0:00 until the 0:29 mark. Then the handclaps, looped synths, and heavy bass start to kick in at the 0:45 mark which is what the remainder of the song is. Now the entirety of this song is backed by handclaps, looped synths, and heavy bass.

Pushover is backed by a single drum kit and cymbal set. Much of these beats are processed at the delay is not present. Overall the song has a retro vibe. The bass line is looped and plays throughout the entirety of this song. The song also uses some thick staccato drums.

Andy's Fanfare serves as the closer and last song for the single. The eerie synth played in a minor key gives his song a dark feeling. This is very dark for an upbeat electronic song. A distorted muffled harmonica sample is thrown in during various parts of the song. The distorted muffled harmonica gives this song a bluesy feeling. A blues influenced electronic song. This is truly an unorthodox song which definitely stood out from everything else at the time. This is top notch music.

Mateo & Matos ‎– Lost In Thought EP EP review

One of the most gifted and focused production teams in the New York house underground known as Mateo & Matos had beautifully combined deep house and acid jazz on Mateo & Matos ‎– Lost In Thought EP.

The gifted house duo Mateo & Matos beautifully combined deep house and acid jazz on Lost In Thought which is the most beautiful rhythmic house track ever. Their production and instrumentation is what made the track atmospheric. A whirly keyboard organ is used above heavy bass lines and shakers. Dub filters were used in the bass.

Comin' Your Way is powered a kick drum and heavy bass over sustained beats. Mateo & Matos had used a sustain feature in the beats. The track is a true groover and is a pure banger. Shakers are thrown into the song at the 2:18 mark and are used throughout the duration of the track. Comin'  Your Way was used on their album Lost in Thought.

Something I Wanna Say uses percussive elements in the drum selection over a deep house sound backed by a set of vibrant shakers. The woman's seductive voice is what made this track irresistible.

Mateo & Matos ‎– Club House Kit single review

Mateo & Matos ‎– Club House Kit is yet another one of Mateo & Matos lesser known releases which hardly anyone knows about. This is one of their earlier works which went unnoticed and sadly overlooked. They use the same organic deep house sound which they are renown for. However this release uses more stimulating sounds and percussion.

Mateo & Matos sample the track Tornado from the Wizard of Oz soundtrack on the track Simulations which is where the Wizard of Oz theme comes from. A percussive drum selection is used over heavy bass you would hear in lounge music. The track is stimulating overall. Tour De Force blended tribal percussive elements onto a deep house song. The track is oriented for the dance floor.

Raw Elements - Black Label single review

The Raw Elements - Black Label release is one of Mateo & Matos earlier and lesser known releases which almost hardly anyone knows about. This single was released back when Mateo & Matos had been going under their Raw Elements name. They use the same organic deep house sound which they are renown for.

The song Last Foundation teaches us music is our last foundation and that music is a universal language. Those are both facts. The song uses an infectious groove. Soul meets deep house music meets on the song Last Foundation hence the soulful influence. The song uses that soul touch.  Last Foundation uses a sample from Sterling Void.

MAW Basics is an improved version of their 1991 classic Raw Basics. MAW Basics is a deep house instrumental with a nice piano and soft lush but posh beats. However their beats are not as thick given that deep house had hardly progressed passed the underground in 1991. This was also due to the technology that was available at the time.

S.O.S. (Sampled Our Shit) is a sample crazy/driven deep house song. S.O.S. samples MAW Basics too.

Impractical Capers ‎– Tickle My Organ single review

Impractical Capers ‎– Tickle My Organ is lo-fi low budget electronic single with a posh sound similar to lounge music. That is where the lounge vibe comes from. Tickle My Organ and Rub Up To Dub are the stand out tracks.

Tickle My Organ uses a whirly organ that is all over the place simultaneously with the other instrumentation such as the chords, synths, and bass. A jazzy saxophone is thrown in during the middle of the song.

Rub Up To Dub uses a of dubs which are dub filters which give the bass a heavy sound and chords a heavy presence. One thing to notice is how the violin stabs fit in perfectly with the electronic keyboard synths. Instruments such as horns, a violin, and a keyboard are what is used. Scattered vocal samples are used all over the place.

Impractal Dancin is a dance floor mover that will have your body grooving. Yes, this is one of those songs that will make you want to dance.

Mateo & Matos ‎– Groove Selective single review

Mateo & Matos ‎– Groove Selective is yet another one of Mateo & Matos lesser known releases which hardly anyone knows about that got overlooked and went unnoticed. This is one of their earlier works from the mid-90s. They use the same organic deep house sound which they are renown for. This is one of those Mateo & Matos singles and releases which uses a lot of surface noise and static in the production. That is part of the charm of this single.

Mateo & Matos blended dance percussive elements on A Little Love. The percussive selection of beats and the woman's harmonious vocals is what made this song. A Little Love is an irresistible deep house song. The track is stimulating overall.

Mystik Rhythm blended tribal percussive elements onto a deep house song while aiming for the dance floor. This is one of the club oriented songs.
