Reservoir Jocks – Club Fiction E.P. EP review
Reservoir Jocks – Club Fiction E.P. is a high quality hard house EP with tunes perfect for the dance floor. You have your upbeat hard house songs such as O.K.A.Y. and From Dub Till Dawn which will make you dance. You also have very chill songs such as Chilling Zoe (Quentin's Reprise). The digital EP sounds very retro for being released in 1997 though.
The opener Let's Go 2 Work has repetitive vocals and house beats which are nothing really special. However this song is perfect enough to make you want to dance due to the upbeat tempo and rhythms. Either way this song was a banger produced by the Klubbheads DJ team.
O.K.A.Y. sounds a bit retro for a song recorded in 1997. The song is laced with heavy chords and is backed with retro electro synths played in major keys beneath a set of tribal drums. The way the Klubbheads DJ team made those tribal drums sound like bass is amazing and breathtaking. The Klubbheads DJ team did an extraordinary job on making those tribal drums sound like bass.
Pumpin' It Up uses some heavy but funky electro chords which sound similar to bass notes. The beats used are house beats and tribal drums. This is one of those dance floor songs.
From Dub Till Dawn uses heavy bass lines and electro chords over a set of dubs. The song is most notable for its heavy usage of dubs. House style break beats are used throughout the song.
Chilling Zoe (Quentin's Reprise) is the chill mellow closer of the EP which calms everything down with a set of vintage chords and synths. The song is quite similar to a Popuh Vuh song despite there being not any elements of New Age music used.

Cab'n'Crew – The Flying Dutchmen E.P. EP review
Cab'n'Crew – The Flying Dutchmen E.P. is one of the lesser know hard house releases from the Dutch country of The Netherlands. The EP is laced with hard hitting house beats and electronic synths which all make the EP captivating to listen to. Some of the best Eurohouse trance can be heard on this release.
Airport '99 is an uptempo hard house song with hard hitting house beats and electronic sounds. Airport '99 uses a series of intense buildup which begin at 0:30, 0:40, 1:18, and 1:45. A handful of distorted electronic synths are used during the middle of the song. Those synths leave you feeling startled and shocked. Those synth have a startling feeling.
Trance-Avia is a Eurohouse trance song which will put you in a psychological trance. The wobbling synths and bass make the song very catchy. The tempo is what also makes this Cab'n'Crew song very catchy which is due to the upbeat and uptempo nature.

Cab 'N' Crew – Domestic Turbulence E.P. EP review
Cab 'N' Crew – Domestic Turbulence E.P. is one of the harder more intense release from Cab 'N' Crew. This single of theirs uses much more harder intense form of hard house and trance. Their production had improved significantly from their previous release The Flying Dutchmen E.P. back in 1997. For example the beats and drum patterns are much thicker. Domestic Turbulence exemplified how Cab 'N' Crew improved their quality of production in just 2 years.
On the song Kerosine Power, Cab 'N' Crew proved to us that hard house will never die. This hard style of hard house exemplified how Cab 'N' Crew improved their quality of production in just 2 years tops.
Cab 'N' Crew went into cowbell overdrive on their song Air Trance by using cowbells sporadically throughout the song. Wobbly synths accompany the cowbells. Air Trance is a Eurohouse trance song ridden with 303s and cowbells. The sample of Lil Louis - French Kiss is sporadically throughout the song at random times.

Danny Boy - Danny Boy album review
The Danny Boy - Danny Boy album is one of those perfect albums for when you and/or your lover is a romantic mood. Danny Boy is known for his soulful romantic mood ballads as that is what he was primarily known for back in the 90s. The Jodeci styled production sound can be heard all over this album which is no surprise because DeVante Swing produced 3 songs on this album. The mood for this album is relaxing.
The album features pre-recorded songs from the 1990s with contributed production from DJ Quik, DeVante Swing, and Dimitrius Shipp. Jodeci member DeVante Swing produced songs such as If U Don't Mind, It's All About You, and Just Ride. DJ Quik definitely had a hand in all of the production to his album. The album was recorded during the analog days from tape into the console and other keyboard gear. That’s why that album sounds how it does.
The Danny Boy - Danny Boy album was slated to be the best R&B/soul albums of 1996. However that did not happen due to label politics and surrounding legal drama. It was due to changes in musical styles and piss poor marketing skills the album was constantly pushed back and remained unreleased for 14 years until 2010 when WIDEAwake acquired the album rights from the Death Row Records company for a high bid from a 2008 auction when the company’s assets were being sold to various record companies such as Koch Records, Interscope, and E1.
If Death Row had released this album in 1996 when it would have gained more popularity and recognition then it wouldn't sound as old. Dr. Dre should have been a producer on this album. We need his voice in R&B/Soul today because most R&B/Soul sucks today. The New Jack Swing era was long over at the time this album was released.
It’s Over Now was a smooth R&B solo hit for Danny Boy back in the 90s. It instantly won him over many fans on an international scale across the globe. It was included on this album, the Gridlock’d soundtrack, and It’s Over Now. Babyface had also co-wrote this song.
The song is about a smooth man comforting a female. This is song is so comforting towards females whom had been done wrong in some many ways and a guy is there for them. He motivates them to move on from whatever the situation is at hand. Three words to describe this song are comforting, smoothing, and motivating.
Danny can see the pain on her face as indicated in the lyrics. Read the lyrics to Verse 1.
[Verse 1]
I can tell that you're worried
It's written on your face
And it tells your story
Girl, I can feel your pain
It's unspeakable what he did to you
He don't deserve one bit of you
Girl, we're walking out, it's time we're through
He might as well get over you
Lyrics to the bridge explain how some women don't recognize that they can't survive without their man when in reality these women can survive without their man. All they have to do is have some will power to get the respect back in their lives.
[Bridge]
Some women don't recognize
They don't exist (Oh, they don't)
They feel like that they can't survive without their man
It's time we all realize it's not worth it if you treat it so bad
Lift up your head, show somebody
Get back the respect in your life (Re)
Come When I Call is an original Danny Boy song with a Michael Henderson sample used. Come When I Call samples Michael Henderson - Let Me Love You. Come When I Call was used on the soundtrack for the 1994 movie Murder Was The Case. The song was also used as a promo single too.
Come When I Call is a perverted love song about a girl who has sex with all the guys. She is on a date and this guy is trying to get with her. Pleasing her sexual desires (making her cum) is his only mission. The lyrics tell it all.
[Verse 1]
Chi-town winds blow so cold
I can't imagine not having somebody to hold
But in the nick of time girl, you knocking at my door
So come on in take off your blouse
No need to panic 'cause this is my house
Climb in my bed, leave your clothes on the floor
Now I may be very young
But I'll get you sprung, if you let me play with your pearl tongue
('Cause that the way I feel about ya')
'Cause that's the way I feel about you
I can't deny, I might decide to lick between your thighs
Girl you good like the Chronic
I swear you get me so high
I can't control this pleasure now
I got to have you in every position
So turn down the lights, baby come close
To make you cum is my only mission
Beautiful Lady was produced by Devante Swing of Jodeci. The song was beautifully arranged and sung. Danny Boy did a wonderful job singing with K-Ci. This song was a hit which won him over many fans on an international scale across the globe.
The song takes place in March of 1995. Danny Boy was high. A beautiful lady spoke to Danny Boy. She then turned and walked away. He hasn’t seen her since that day. Danny wonders where she went as he hope it’s near and not that far. Hey beautiful lady.
It’s All About U sounds like a Jodeci song which makes sense because Devante Swing produced the song. The Vocoder (voice box) used in the middle of the song is what makes the song very hot and steamy. I know that sounds outdated but understand it’s a 90s song. Devante Swing produced and arranged a genius breakdown at the 2:12 mark. The song was recorded during the analog days from tape into the console and other keyboard gear. That’s why that song sounds the way it does.
Slip N Slide is a syrupy slow jam accompanied by uptempo beats. Yet the song feels so midtempo. Slip N Slide is an original Danny Boy song.
The G-Funk Remix of Steppin' called Steppin' [G-Funk Remix] was a reprise to Something to the Mood and was produced by DJ Quik and G1. The song is a smooth upbeat soul song perfect for a late night.
Take My Breath Away is Danny Boy’s magnificent cover of Norman Connors - You Take My Breath Away. The song uses a smooth jazzy upbeat sound which is nice because the song fits Danny Boy’s persona and image. DJ Quik and G1 produced Take My Breath Away. DJ Quik’s leaves much to be desired and cherished.

Danny Boy - It’s About Time album review
Danny Boy - It’s About Time is one of those perfect albums for when you and/or your lover is a romantic mood. Danny Boy is known for his soulful romantic mood ballads as that is what he was primarily known for back in the 90s. The Jodeci styled production sound can be heard all over this album which is no surprise because DeVante Swing produced 3 songs on this album. The mood for this album is relaxing.
Death Row Records and Suge Knight really dropped the ball on promoting South Carolina artist Danny Boy properly. Better promotion was needed for this album to prosper. It was due to Suge Knight's crack addiction, sheer stupidity, changes in musical styles, and his piss poor marketing skills. The album was constantly pushed back and remained unreleased for 15 years until 2010 when WIDEAwake acquired the album rights from the Death Row Records company for a high bid from a 2008 auction when the company’s assets were being sold to various record companies such as Koch Records, Interscope, and E1.
The Danny Boy - It’s About Time album was slated to be the best R&B/soul albums of 1995 had his album been released. If Death Row had released this album in 1995, 1996, or 1998 when it would have gained more popularity and recognition, then it wouldn't sound as old.We need his voice in R&B/Soul today because most R&B/Soul sucks today. The New Jack Swing era was long over at the time this album was released. Sadly the album did not meet up with the success of other Death Row albums during their heyday and popularity. Dr. Dre should have been a producer on this album. However we all know why that never happened.
The album features pre-recorded songs from the 1990s with contributed production from DJ Quik, DeVante Swing, and Dimitrius Shipp. Songs from this Danny Boy album were recorded from 1994-1999. Michel'le - Single Black Female album review
Michel'le’s Single Black Female album was an R&B soul album written and sung from a woman’s point of view. The album had songs such as the bouncy yet soulful and jazzy Tonight Is, heartbreaking Wasted My Tyme, and Single Black Female. There is a lack of her Minnie Mouse-like squeaky voice on this album unlike the last album. Songs such as Can I Get A Witness?, Tonight Is, and Walk With Me were the best songs. This album is like a movie score because Michel’le was telling everyone about her experiences. The songs were mostly were up-tempo songs and slow jams.
Billboard Magazine advertised Michel'le’s Single Black Female album in one of their news articles back in 1997. Michel'le’s Single Black Female album was supposed to be released in August 1997 on Death Row Records.. However Michel'le’s Single Black Female album was never due to issues over creative control and imagery.
Suge Knight realized the songs Michel’le recorded were about her relationship with Dr. Dre. Suge shelved the Single Black Female album because Michel’le was singing about her relationship with Dr. Dre throughout the entire album and Suge had hated that. Dr. Dre and Suge Knight were butting heads over label politics, business decisions, emotions, and egos during time Michel’le was recording the Single Black Female album. Dre and Suge were bitter rivals at the time.
So Suge Knight took a few of the songs off the Single Black Female and put those songs on Hung Jury. The songs Suge took off the Single Black Female album were Tonight Is and Wasted My Tyme. So Michel'le’s Single Black Female album was butchered into the darker Hung Jury album which was released in 1998. This is where Hung Jury came into the picture and when Single Black Female was trashed. That is why Single Black Female was never released.
Single Black Female is the song for all the ladies out there. This is the ladies anthem regardless of race. Michel’le explains how a love so strong can go wrong on Single Black Female. She explains her experiences in a relationship that was dead and gone. The unexpected went undetected. Michel’le never thought she would see love leave her life. She was single and free. Single Black Female was produced by Budda.
This song was the original buzz single for the album. However this song was never issued as a single because Suge cancelled the single along with the album. The song never charted because of his decision.
The song Tonight Is is a bouncy and jazzy soul song where jazz and soul meet each other. You have upbeat swing jazz and soulful R&B. The upbeat smooth bass follows the upbeat swing jazz patterns. Michel’le is looking for more than friendship from her lover as tonight is the night for him. Michel’le tells him tonight is to be more than friends. A test of infidelity. She explains this in the song.
The song Tonight Is was recorded when Michel’le was recording and writing the Single Black Female album in 1996. The song Tonight Is was recorded for the Single Black Female album as evidenced in the lyrics.
I got different styles for different MCs
I've got styles to make MCs freeze
In they tracks, but I ain't got no time for all of that
The party's packed, and I'm checkin', how you gonna act
Coast to coast connection like that
Michel'le, Death Row, Black Wax, phat tracks
I'll hit you, wish you knew the remedy
So peep it, single black female, freak me
Michel’le tells her that she willing to try something new. Possibly infidelity. She is looking for more than friendship from her lover. Michel’le tells her lover, “You say it's alright if I want to come by. What can I do for you tonight? But if I'm gonna come by, then you'll have to try something new. And if you wanna be with me, tonight is the night set for you.”
He says it's alright if she’s want to come by. Michel’le wonders what she can do for him tonight. He’ll have to try something new if he wants to be with Michel’le. Tonight is the night set for him. Michel’le tells him, “If tonight is the night, it’s alright. So get yourself together. Tonight is the night.” Michel’le tells him tonight is the night to be more than friends. “Well, tonight is the night. When I'll feel it's right to do what we like, yeah.” Michel’le tells him, “I expect you to get yourself together, baby. Tonight is the night to be more than friends. We can be more than friends. It's alright, but only if tonight is the night. When I'll feel it's right, we'll do what we like, you'll see. Tonight is the night”
The song Walk With Me will remind you of rain due to the slow tempo as this song is a slow jam. The smoothness of the rain and wind chimes give away the feeling indicating that Walk With Me is a slow jam. This was a quiet storm song mixed with jazz.
Michel’le was talking about how much she loved Dre. She really loved him. Michel’le was trying to be the best woman Dre could possibly ever have and still he treated her horribly. All she wanted and asked for was there to be true love in their relationship.
You can tell Michel’le still had feelings for Dre when listening to the lyrics on Wasted My Tyme. The lyrics "Don't cry, don't you cry no more" and “I told you to go, I just want to be alone” hit the heart hard. Her lyrics have ability to touch your heart. This was the song that caused Dre and Suge to slap her. The song uses a warm funky bass line which makes the song memorable.
Don't Say U Love Me uses a smooth melodic jazzy piano and jazzy saxophone over modern R&B production. The song also incorporates a bass line lyrics from The Delfonics song La La La La I Love You. Old school soul meets the sounds of modern R&B and jazz. It was such a dark time when Michel’le wrote Don't Say U Love Me. It was rough. The song explained her toxic relationship with Dre when her commitment to him was strong.
I'm Not Leaving You explained and showed her emotional attachment to Dre. She still had feelings for him. Her commitment to him was strong. It was such a dark time when Michel’le wrote I'm Not Leaving You. It was rough.
So Many Wayz was another cut which explained and showcased her toxic relationship with Dre. She loved Dre in so many ways. There are so many ways to say the things you want to say and do. There are so many ways to say goodbye.
Tell Me Lies is No More Lies revisited. Tell Me Lies is a song aimed at men who are abusive and unfaithful to their lovers. However this song is aimed more at unfaithful men than it is abusive men it seems. Men exaggerate, lie, and are unfaithful at times.

VK - Vanesha Knight album review
VK - Vanesha Knight is a hardcore lyrical versatile all in your face rap album that holds no punches. Her hardcore versatile lyrics leave much to be desired. Her delivery will remind of The Lady of Rage. You have your reality rap songs such as Infamous Cycle and Curiousity which deal with abuse. Songs such as I Wanna Be Loved By You showcase the more feminine side of VK. J Flexx was responsible a majority of the production for her album.
Some of you may remember that her album was advertised in the 2Pac - Greatest Hits album, Too Gangsta For The Radio, and the Chronic 2000 album. Her album was listed in under the Coming Soon section despite there not being any artwork designed for her album.
VK is none other than Vanesha Knight who is Suge Knight’s niece. She was a female rapper who was signed to Death Row Records as she was brought on to fill the role of The Lady of Rage after she left the label. VK’s album was supposed to be released some time in 2000. However VK’s album was never released as the album was never completed due to Suge’s incarceration and the bankruptcy of Death Row Records.
Infamous Cycle deals with the vicious cycle domestic abuse against a spouse. This song was based off domestic abuse VK experienced with her family. Someone in her family was abused by their spouse. VK’s mother’s sister had a man who she thought loved her. They had a good life together until he decided to abuse her. This is one of the darker songs on the album. Infamous Cycle was written and recorded in preproduction around 1992. However the song was never mastered properly and only exists in ADAT as a demo song. The song was never mastered properly due to Suge’s incarceration, focus on other artists, and the bankruptcy of Death Row Records.
The song uses super thick heavy bass lines (funk bass lines) which rumble your speakers behind a quiet rock guitar underneath. Those super thick heavy bass lines and dope beats are what make the song good and captivating to listen to.
The song is known for the catchy but hard hitting controversial chorus lyrics, “Take it out on me but that’s about enough/Take it out on me but that’s about enough/Take it out on me but that’s about enough/You put your hands me again I’ll put your ass in handcuffs”
Curiousity is a chilling song about her absentee father. She contemplates over the curiosity of his whereabouts. This song will hit hard with especially those that truly understand that silent pain of where VK is coming from or just situations of an absentee parent. Curiousity is a song that VK wrote in 1995 after Gangsta Rick said, "You go hard, but you need to write more about yourself." The song also deals with abuse and rape.
Her absentee father is the pain that puts stress on her brain. How does she refrain from making him a bloodstain? She would love to see him. She wonders these following questions. Who are you? How old are you? How tall are you? What do you think of the daughter that wants to meet you? Do I have your smile and your eyes that have kept me strong? Will you ever be man enough to show your face? Will you roll on the situation?
She wonders if he will you ever be man enough to show his face or if he will roll out on the situation he is currently in. Maybe her father has a wife, kids, and a big house. Or maybe he is a business man with the big clout. Who knows how the story goes. Maybe VK will see. VK is just a fatherless child filled with curiosity. Sometimes she gets a little lonely.
Her homies and family claim not to understand her. Why does she talk with so much emotion. Why does she feel so deeply? VK has this habit of biting her fingernails when deep in thought. Did he bite his fingernails too? Did he get slapped when he got caught? VK asked her mother where her father was
Sometimes she feels her soul is tired from the lack of sleep. She said he died in a plane crash overseas. Her mother used to get mad zooted. So 2 years later VK asked again and she had to prove it. She couldn't in fact. She forgot what she said the first time. Her mother lied to her. Her friends were right about that. This is the real reason why this case was sealed tight. She needs help to understand what's going on with this man who she has never met or seen. Some pieces of this puzzle are missing in action. This is trouble.
VK doesn’t know her father because her father raped her mother when she was a minor. He escaped after he raped her mother. Rape is punishable by death.Life is a 360. What goes around comes around. It will come to haunt you down. But now you listen and pay witness to these raw facts. Who knows. He probably turned over a new leaf.
“A nation will rise/No higher than this woman, a fatherless child” is one of the most deepest poetic lyrics of this song. The lyrics “But now you listen and pay witness to this raw facts/Life is a three-sixty, what goes around comes around/And back to your cypher, it will come to haunt you down” are some of the deepest hard hitting lyrics of this song.
I Wanna Be Loved By You is about wanting to be loved by the person you cherish and or admire. Nobody else will do The song is a Michel'le and VK duet. The song was used on the Chronic 2000 album.
Michel'le can't deny that her heart is on a high over the man she loves and cherishes. No one can bring Michel'le down but him. Michel'le wants him to help him live all of his fantasies. He wanted a real woman. All she need is to be loved by him. Nobody else will do.
It was no surprise VK was deep in thought when her man called. It's the words he said that made her feel 10 feet tall. She tells him he don't have to worry about the men from her past. They didn't handle business. They packed their bags voluntarily.
It's just him and VK.
[VK]
You told me when I blow up don't forget about you
But will you forget about me if I don't blow up Boo?
You wanted a real woman, here I am, it's just you and me
Are you strong enough baby, can you, feel the heat?
I was deep in thought, it was no surprise, when you called
It's the words you said that made me feel ten feet tall
You said you love me all you wanna know is I'm, here for you
And hey love, there's a song we make up to with a tight ass beat
Sweetheart, you don't have to worry about the men from my past
They didn't handle business, so in a flash, I
Voluntarily pack they bags put em in the car and make em mash
We automatic cause we both after the cash
If we, don't stop the world, we damn sure slow it down
And if, anybody in our way we movin the haters around
Don't, have no doubts baby fo' sho' VK got you
Can't you see, I wanna be loved, only by you
This is Jazzmatix is a jazz rap song where funk and jazz meet rap. This is Jazzmatix. Feel the static through your speaker. VK takes us to another galaxy with the brehsiveness of Death Row’s production and sound. Feel the spirits. Get with this intellect that direct.
