Rell ‎– Long Time Coming album review

Rell ‎– Long Time Coming is an album that was only issued as CD promo by Roc-A-Fella Records in 2005. Long Time Coming was one of the three albums that he recorded during his time at Roc-A-Fella Records. All of the three albums he recorded on that label remain unreleased to this day. This was because the label did not know how to promote R&B artists and the producers had disagreements with Rell himself. This album was supposed to be released on Roc-A-Fella Records in 2005, but that never happened due to business politics. It's a shame this album didn't come out. It is just so annoying that never happened.

Regardless of business politics, Rell ‎– Long Time Coming remains an all time classic and an impossible to find R&B album. Most of the songs on this album are killer slow R&B songs with a soulful touch. Rell graces the mic with his singing.

Back from Hiatus was produced by DJ Green Lantern. Back from Hiatus was Rell’s comeback from a long hiatus. The song was recorded in 2005 after The Remedy album was completed.

Rell announces his return from a long hiatus. He says hi to the ladies. His middle finger is held high in the sky for the haters. It’s on tonight as Rell is back on the mic with some more shit that you like. Speaking to the ladies with his usual sex appeal.

Distant Love is a love song about having long distance relationships. This Rell song was written for the ladies. Men don’t understand long distance relationships often. Men don’t understand their relationships often. Rell lets the ladies know when they leave that they are never forgotten.

Rell has never been a man who would just walk away from something he started to build. He’s a soldier. All he knows is war and love. It’s over between him and her. No more sleeping together. He wants to be protecting her. No one can compare to her.

Too late for second chances. She is forever in his heart. She was the sweetest young thing when Rell met her. Now she has moved away. They were both in a long distance relationship but that shorty dissolved. He couldn’t stand the thought of her being away for so long.

Never Stop is similar to a D’Angelo song with the smooth funkiness of guitars, alto singing, sultry background vocals, and hip hop beats. The smooth funkiness of guitars gives Never Stop a funk soul vibe. Never Stop a killer track laced and graced with Rell’s vocals.

The moment he saw her, there was no doubt in his mind that he had to get next to her. In just of matter of time, Rell makes his move. She is working her body like nobody else on the dance floor. Rell wants to give her more. Things didn’t take too long for Rell to observe that she was ready. It’s love he is looking for. She was the sweetest young thing when Rell met her. She was the prettiest thing he had ever laid his eyes on.

Somehow, someway, Rell has to have this woman in his life. He searches for compassion and romance the company of a woman. He explains clearly that he is ready to settle down with another woman.

Somehow Someway was and is one of Rell’s most overlooked songs that is considered to be a masterpiece. Rell uses his breathtaking angelic vocals on this song. You can hear and feel the strength that is present in his vocals.

Honestly this song should have been chosen to be another one of his buzz singles to promote his debut album. But because the Roc did not know how to market R&B artists properly, the song ended up not being used as a single and was pushed to the side in favor of other songs such as Love For Free, If That’s My Baby, It’s Obvious, and Let Me Show U. It’s truly a shame this song did not make the final track listing of his debut album because the song fit his breathtaking angelic neo-soul vocals, style, sound, and image. Rocafella dropped the ball with Rell and this song.

Last Ride has an urban feel due to the hip hop beats used. The beats, synths, and guitars are what stand out and are the highlight for this song.

U Ain’t Let Me Down Yet explains how this woman has not let Rell down yet. The song describes how the woman in Rell’s long-lasting relationship with her remains strong. He is hooked on her. Rell sounds like Chaka Khan on this song.  The song shows promise in going forward in terms of progression with lyrics such as “As time glows we sweat/U ain’t let me down yet/With the rate you’re going/Hooked on you”

N.I.S. - N.iggas I.n S.in album review

N.I.S. - N.iggas I.n S.in is one of Saginaw’s most overlooked horrorcore rap albums to date next to Damion The Demon Seed’s self-titled album. This album is a long forgotten album that is super rare as the album was only released in Saginaw, Michigan back in 1996. Their album was only released on cassette. There are no other known format of recordings of this album.

The themes of death, crime, and the occult are prevalent on this album. The album reflects the grimness and griminess that plagued the streets of Saginaw during that time. All of these songs have a dark vibe not to mention chilling. Notice the fat bass and eerie synths. Their album is was dope as hell. N.I.S. was a good group with talent that should have released 2 albums by now. It’s truly shameful the group never released a full album.

Their sound and style of music is similar to Esham, KGP, Kobane Boyz, Bone Skanless, Damion The Demon Seed, Natas, Crunchy Black, Tommy Wright III, Lil Corb, and State Of Cykosis. This album is highly recommended for you if you’re a fan of Bone Skanless, Esham, Natas, Crunchy Black, Tommy Wright III, or Lil Corb.

This album isn’t really considered ”an album” due to there being only 4 songs. There are only 4 songs which are Evol Azz Niggaz, I Can Die, Fuck Em, and Sell Yo Soul. Those are the songs that appear on this album.

Ghetto Devil produced the whole album himself with no help from any in-house producers on Ghetto Records. He decided to produce N.I.S.’s album by himself.  Brian Kapalias (Kap) had nothing to do with this album. Ghetto Devil already had separated himself from Mentality Records and split.

N.I.S. aka N.iggas I.n S.in was composed of Ghetto Devil and his brother. Ghetto Devil served as a producer and rapper for the group. N.iggas I.n S.in was also known as Niggas In Sin. The group shortened their name to N.I.S. for political correctness among other obvious reasons. Plus N.I.S. holds more weight than N.iggas I.n S.in and is less ambiguous. The group was wicked.

Evol Azz Niggaz an eerie ass horrorcore rap songs whiny synths and distorted crunches over gruesome lyrics. The theme of death is a common element in this song. 90s horrorcore rap can’t get any better than this. Evol Azz Niggaz is wordplay on “evil ass niggas”.

N.iggas I.n S.in are composed of 2 evil niggas which are Ghetto Devil and his brother. They’re coming to fuck up your head. They are grave diggers. There’s a hole in the ground that is your resting place. This is a representation and symbolism of a burial.

These evol azz niggaz have evil rhymes for you everyday. These niggaz have “evol rhymes” in this case. Evil lives where they stay. N.I.S. can be seen standing at Jones Food Store and Jones Community Center on Cherry Street where the pushers are with fat pockets. Ghetto Devil stays posted up.

Something evil is traveling from your body to your head. Ghetto Devil is the prince of darkness. He plays with the dead. He runs through the grave sites hearing himself screaming loud. If you fall asleep, Ghetto Devil will pop up in your dreams. Ghetto Devil is not Freddy Kruger but he will hunt you like Jason. (Notice the horror film reference.) You can’t enter hell without a full application.

Ghetto Devil is crazy in the head. Some people say he’s loosing it. He’ll fuck you up badly and sorely. Don’t ever step to Ghetto Devil because he is an evol azz nigga.

Say your prayers. They are digging you a holy grave. A copy of the Holy Bible is burned in the process. Do you believe in Jesus or wicked niggas in sin? Your choice has been made. You lay on this crucifix. Your soul will burn in hell. They douse you with gasoline and light a match to watch your body burn.

The themes of the occult and death can be heard on Sell Yo Soul hence the dark gruesome vibe. Religious figures such as the devil and Satan are mentioned throughout the whole song. You can tell that Ghetto Devil had his hands in writing this song. Ghetto Devil produced the song himself. Sell Yo Soul is similar to Chat Chat - Cry In Hell. Sell Yo Soul is N.I.S.’s most horrifying songs due to the given title.

The song deals with selling your soul for the devil to keep. Ghetto Devil plays the role of the devil in this song. His brother performs some of the raps. Ghetto Devil playing the devil was the best idea for this particular song given the mood and theme. Souls are sold to the devil and Satan. The song also deals with the dark side of Hell where the devil dwells. The lyrics also deal with murder given that it is a death themed song.

C-Roc - Dramatized Minded album review

C-Roc - Dramatized Minded was one of the most dramatic Memphis rap albums of 1998. The album has a sense of drama, terror, negativity, and suspense. The album stayed indebted to the trademark dark and grimy sound of Memphis. His album has a dark psychological twist too. This is definitely the more sinister underground vibe here.

C-Roc - Dramatized Minded is one of the Memphis rap albums that got overlooked but is well-appreciated by Memphis rap fans across the world. That makes sense as Dramatized Minded was an underground album with a limited amount of pressings which makes the album difficult to find.

"Don't worry. Reality leaves" is the message C-Roc is trying to convey on Dramatized Minds. Reality leaves when drama prevails.

The song and title track Dramatized Minded is one of the more dramatic and disturbing songs on the album due to subject matter and material.

Dramatize minds are dramatize minded. Don't fight it. So I don't believe your body will bleed. He’ll chop your ass up because you’re light weight to him. Bitch made niggaz are separate. C-Roc won't trust many souls. Don't worry. Reality leaves.

Somewhere between the Verse 1 and Verse 2 is when and where C-Roc decides to burn down a shed using gasoline. That is what the lyrics “Gasoline/Fuck whatever of it/Placing the flames as I burn down a shed/That's a crazy MF” are a reference to. So you know C-Roc is one crazy motherfucker!

Verse 2 is where things start getting dramatic as the situation takes a dramatic turn through an act and formulation of dramacidal meditation. He steals a 64 Impala through an act of auto theft. Then he commences to killing off you and your bitch boy crew. His psychopathic ways are now creations as he grabs machetes to kill people with and drops probations. This is his so-called dramacidal meditation. Read these lyrics to get a better understanding:

I'ma take of in the 64 Impala
To killing off you and your bitch boy crew
My psychopathic ways are now creations
Grab machetes
Drop probations
Dramacidal meditation
Praying till I gain some patients

C-Roc gets morbid with his lyrics during Verse 3 by saying, “Now why should I care?/Now how can I live?/Dead bodies are sourcing my shadows”

He is ripping a hole through a bitch. He can't let that shit ride So he is ripping your heart through your torso. Having a merciful body chopped up in blood in a room full of bodies that bleed. C-Roc looks to his side. The man in the mirror realize that the killer is him.

Chances With Manson is a classic track from C-Rock's underground album Dramatized Minded. The song uses some fucking bad ass bass lines to slow slurred rhythm. Chances With Manson samples Isley Brothers - Highways of my life.

Not too many people know this but several Memphis rappers have used and sampled C-Roc - Mental Illusions in their songs over the years. Children Of The Corn used and sampled this song on their song Children Of The Corn - Watch Yo Back. Graveyard Productions sampled C-Roc - Chances With Manson for their song Graveyard Productions - Devil Shyt.

C-Roc - Mental Illusions album review

C-Roc - Mental Illusions was one of the darkest Memphis rap albums of 1998. The album uses a dark psychological twist with a sense of suspense and related drama. This is definitely the more sinister underground vibe here. The album stayed indebted to the trademark dark and grimy sound of Memphis. C-Roc has definitely gotten better since Dramatized Minded. C-Roc - Mental Illusions is one of the Memphis rap albums that got overlooked but is well-appreciated by Memphis rap fans across the world.

This Street Smart album had the best production by Maceo. This is some of Maceo’s best production work to date. Maceo was in his prime when he was on the production team for Street Smart Records. His beats and style are the reason why C-Roc - Mental Illusions is the best Manson Family project.

C-Roc - Mental Illusions is one of the many sought after Memphis rap albums many people want. Many people know that C-Roc - Mental Illusion is one of the Street Smart Records releases that were stolen when several masters to the Street Smart Records albums/releases got stolen in a home invasion back in 2001. However the C-Roc - Mental Illusions album was one of the very select few Street Smart Records albums/releases to be reissued later with new tracks. So fans actually got to purchase that album. The album has been reissued onto CD-r several times over the years.

Some of you might remember that the album cover had C-Roc dressed in a white straight jacket underneath bold purple words which say, “MENTAL ILLUSION”. Mental Illusion was the working title of the album before this album was repackaged and rereleased as Mental Illusions. The cover was designed by Street Level Graphics in 1998. This album cover was advertised in several Street Smart Records albums and releases throughout the late 90s and early 00s.

Now the cover to his album that was modified, changed, and reorganized several times over the years. The album cover was modified in 2009 using a red, white, and black color scheme. This included the grayscale album cover from 2011. That album was sold on the IAP-TV Store later that year.
Some of you might remember that the upcoming album C-9 - Bad Surroundingz just had him sitting in a car with the album title underneath. The cover was designed by Street Level Graphics in 2001.

C-Roc talks about slanging and selling cocaine rocks nonstop throughout Slangin Rocks. The memorable message and motto of/to this song is “Slanging rocks slanging rocks nonstop till your casket drop”. The song is similar to an early UGK song recorded in the 90s. His flow is consistent throughout the song with no fallacies.

The song is memorable due to using repeated lyrics to create a catchy hook that captivates listeners to listen to this song. The lyrics can be heard at the very beginning of this song. The repeated lyrics which create a catchy hook go: “Slanging rocks/Nonstop/Nonstop/Slanging rocks/Slanging rocks/Nonstop/Nonstop” This hook made Slanging Rocks a real banger.

Lethal Injection was a real banger with hard hitting heavy beats and flashy synths. Lethal Injection is one of his lesser known songs. The song is as fatal and deadly as a Lethal Injection hence the song’s title.

C-9 - Bad Surroundingz album review

C-9 - Bad Surroundingz is one of those Memphis rap junts that does not get the credit, recognition, acclaim, accolades, and references truly deserved. C-9 - Bad Surroundingz is one of the Memphis rap albums that got overlooked but is well-appreciated by Memphis rap fans across the world. Now his amazing tongue twisting lyrical ability is what made the Bad Surroundingz album a highly sought after classic masterpiece of an album. His ability is amazing. The album featured Al Kapone, Yo Lynch and more. DJ Sound, DJ Paul, and Tommy Wright III produced that album.

C-9 - Bad Surroundingz is one of the many sought after Memphis rap tapes and albums many people want but don’t have. That is because C-9 - Bad Surroundingz is one of the Street Smart Records releases that were stolen when several masters to the Street Smart Records albums/releases got stolen in a home invasion back in 2001. The album C-9 - Bad Surroundingz was supposed to be issued on cassette & CD and released by Street Smart Records in 2001. But the album was never released because the masters to that album were stolen in a home invasion in 2001. C-9 - Bad Surroundingz is considered to be a lost album as not that many copies were pressed up.

Some of you might remember that the upcoming album C-9 - Bad Surroundingz just had him sitting in a car with the album title underneath. The cover was designed by Street Level Graphics in 2001.

C-9 was one of the best rappers to do it with his amazing tongue twisting lyrical ability. Now his amazing tongue twisting lyrical ability is what made him ‘da fastest’ rapper in all of Memphis, Tennessee. C-9 was the Twista of Memphis. He was the ‘da fastest’ rapper in the hip hop game in Memphis at spitting rap lyrics. His flow is always on point.

C-9 went hard on High Speed Chase. This was the most bumpin cut on that tape. It’s like listening to never-ending bars in a rap battle or a freestyle. That last verse will make you say, “whoa”.

The song Memphis Drama is one of the best songs off the album. Memphis Drama uses wavy warpy synths from a lo-fi keyboard and thick beats. Playa Fly did go off and kill that shit on Memphis Drama. The song was produced by DJ Paul, Playa Fly, and Tommy Wright III.

Mac T-Dog - Blast On Sight album review

An album called Mac T-Dog - Blast On Sight has that dark gangsta rap sound with an eerie twist and formulation. You’ll love that Memphis Sound, mane. Now this album does not revolve around the Satanic old Triple Six Mafia sound as Tommy Wright III and his Street Smart crew weren't trying to bite off the Triple Six style. Tommy Wright III is on some of these tracks to his album also.

Mac T-Dog actually sounds a lot like Tommy Wright III and Lo-Key. Many people thought Mac T-Dog was Tommy Wright III because they collaborated on a lot of songs together. They always sounded similar. Tommy Wright III’s voice was slightly deeper. Mac T-Dog’s voice used to crack a lot. Many people thought Mac T-Dog was Tommy Wright III but that is not the case. Mac T-Dog is an entirely different person. Mac T-Dog is not Tommy Wright III.

Mac T-Dog - Blast On Sight is one of the many sought after Memphis rap tapes and albums many people want but don’t have. That is because Mac T-Dog - Blast On Sight is one of the Street Smart Records releases that were stolen when several masters to the Street Smart Records albums/releases got stolen in a home invasion back in 2001. Mac T-Dog - Blast On Sight was supposed to be released on cassette & CD in 2002. Today Mac T-Dog - Blast On Sight is considered to be a lost album as not that many copies were pressed up. Copies of this album only exist on cassette. Not many copies of this album are left or are still in existence. It's really depressing to know that we'll probably never get to hear any of them.

Also Mac T-Dog got incarcerated shortly afterwards and spent several years in prison. His incarceration prevented him from working on his album. He had been working that album since 1997. Most of the songs were recorded in 1998.

Some of you might remember that the upcoming album Mac T-Dog - Blast On Sight just had his face, name, and album title on it. The cover was designed by Street Level Graphics in 1998. This album cover was advertised in several Street Smart Records albums and releases throughout the late 90s and early 00s.

Drive-by is one of the most gruesome and violent tracks on the album which is just as explicit as the other songs are. The song revolves around the subject of driveby shooting. Mac T-Dog and Tommy Wright III go out and do a driveby on this song. This is a type of song for a driveby.

Here's goes the glock. Watch as Mac T-Dog chops your head off. He kills 'em all like in a horror flick Mac T-Dog and Tommy. They’re makin' gangster stains. Mac T-Dog and Tommy take a hook up on Lakers Street. They start the crap game and fuck with chump change. Can't you tell who fucks with them? He stomped that trick in her eye. He jets out of the scene. He also shot that fool in the eye because he did a drive-by.

Mac T-Dog is headed to the scene as he runs up in the path way. He cocks his nine millimeter glock (.9 mm). He hits them off at the alleyway. Tommy Wright III pops the clip into the chrome plated .44 he has. As you know, he keeps some extra bullets with him. Because you know they finna get them.

Both them are ridin' in the car paranoid and locked out. A .30-30 is in his hand to run up in a trick house as he is planning to do a driveby. Slowly by surely to get you, trick, and send you to yo' funeral.
He keeps his hoopty on because he finna do a drive-by. Sippin' on the brew as he tampers with his .44 glock.

Mac T-Dog is constantly peeling caps back. He lets his road dog Tommy Wright III spray these tricks like Cracker Jacks. Somebody finna die. He finna do a drive-by.

[Verse 3: Mac T Dog]
Headed to the scene
As I run up in the path way
Cock my nine Glock
Hit 'em off
At the ally way
Tommy pop the clip into the chrome plated .44
Keep some extra bullets
'Cause you know we finna get ´em though
Ridin' in the car, flat
Paranoid locked out
.30-30 in my hand to run up in a trick house
Keep my hoopty on
'Cause I finna do a drive-by
Stain got the stain
Like I [?]
Sippin' on my brew
As I tamper with my .44
Slowly by surely to get you trick
And send you to yo' funeral
Bullets to your dome
'Cause I’m constantly peelin´ caps back
Leave my roadie Tommy
Finna spray these tricks like Cracker Jacks
Once again
Rollin' in my hoopty
Somebody finna die
See a tricka get the [?]
I’m finna do a drive-by

Still Pimpin’ is one of the songs that features the legendary Princess Loko and Mac T Dog. Still Pimpin’ is a pimping and pandering type of track. Princess Loko and Mac T Dog rap a majority of the song. His flow is always on point.

Princess Loko is pimping till the end. Making that green. Its just a game to get sum up for a pocket full of cheese. Coming on the scene with the Tommy Hilfiger. Bitch please, motherfuckers ain't stopping her. Now Loko never goes for the niggas on her dick. Niggas get broke for the end trying to pimp her out of cash or weed. She be playing all these boys like toys.

Notice on Verse 2 how Mac T Dog’s verses are much shorter than Princess Loko’s verses. His verses are the shortest verses on this song. Read and analyze the lyrics below to get a better understanding.

[Verse 2: Mac T Dog]
Bitches got to recognize the game I spit, I'm Mac T Dog
Make a hoe any minute trick, next that hoe coming out them draws
Hotel bound, we get silly bitches up on the [?]
Then I call my nigga Lil Mike, with the clique gone pay the court
Got that hoe in the back with my niggas in the front
If the bitch get out of line, I locking this slut in the trucks
V.H.S. camera on my motherfucking shoulder pads
Taping this stupid ass bitch at the hotel while she blowing up Tommy's ass
Lil Mike flat out dicking that bitch got that hoe backbone broke
Plus my nigga ave shovin dick all down the bitch them throat
Now ya know the 4 corner clique trick so motherfuckin wild
Put that fuckin bitch in the house while we still pimpin hoes in style

Now compare Mac T Dog’s verse to Princess Loko’s verse on Verse 3.

[Verse 3: Princess Loko]
Let me teach a lesson to you stupid hoes in Memphis Ten
Get your paper, boots, utensil, don't forget your fucking pen
First of all I'm sick of you bitches
Saying your man do this and that
Lyin' just trying to keep your friends when you know all they do is hit that cat
Wearin' your mother's ring claiming this what lil Tommy bought
Knowing if he ever heard you lie like that he smack you in your fucking jaw
Hickeys on your neck but then you say you got some more that's bigger
Yeah I bet they is between your legs from fifty other niggas
Freaky-deeky bitches fucking on niggas that they barely know
Then they want to get mad when niggas call they slutty and some hoes
You might say you run a busta but you know he's pimpin' you
Bitches got you fucked up in the mind and in the pussy too
Trying to be a player but you can't cause you a freaky bitch
The only playin you doing is with your hair, you hoes can't be too slick
Let these niggas have they way because he said he love you bad
Yeah he show you love with your pussy and your cash
Bitches just don't know about the game, the niggas popping hoes
But Loko gonna stay hip
Cause I never buy no niggas no clothes
Niggas try to run their sad ass shit expecting me to go along
I don't trust these cowards so I tell them to take they ass home
Do I look just like your mammy
I hope it's me you tryna gank
Bitch, you better run you're ass back to the bank
Cash a fucking check or something
And fall up out my fucking face
Taking me for a dumb hoe
I think you got your fucking bitches misplaced
Love ain't shit but a nothing false mistake for a long relationship
Fuck that lovey, dovey player cause I'm a motherfucking pimp
Loko just ain't fucked up about no nigga trying to fuck me over
Boy you better it combated, trick my meal in ninety-four

Chrome Thang Ta Ya Face is another song of his which is collectively known as Chrome Thang. Chrome Thang without a doubt is one of the tougher songs on the album. That Michael Jackson sample is tough.
