Player 1 & Bloody Bones - Crime Rate Sky-High album review

Player 1 & Bloody Bones - Crime Rate Sky-High is a hidden gem in Memphis rap and hip hop filled with underrated fire. DJ Sound’s production was outta this world. You know the ultra lo-fi sound. The album stayed indebted to the trademark dark and grimy sound of Memphis with DJ Sound’s production no doubt of course. That is why you can feel that siccness with their album. Player 1 & Bloody Bones - Crime Rate Sky-High is considered to be one of the most legendary Memphis rap tapes in existence. The album served as documentation from the Ridgecrest community and Frayser neighborhood.

Crew-zin is a surprisingly chilling ultra lo-fi Memphis rap song which will pull you in and draw your attention to the sound and production from DJ Sound. DJ Sound supplies some of the dopest beats. DJ Sound played this out on a keyboard using the preset sounds. That's an original beat created by DJ Sound composed from scratch.

Yet somehow he perfectly copied an 8 bar note from scratch from Three Times Dope - Funky Dividends. This song is inspired by Three Times Dope - Funky Dividends. He made the melodies himself using a keyboard.

Gruesum Twosum is a bloody graphic song about a psychopathic serial killer roaming the streets of Memphis, Tennessee. The psychopathic killer on the streets and is still at large. Police are searching the neighborhood for any evidence or clues leading them to the serial killed. This psychopathic killer is the one doing all the killings, robberies, and jacking in the Frayser neighborhood and Ridgecrest community.

Some of the lyrics to this song are:

The psychopathic killer on the streets and I’m still at large
Niggas looking for me because they hearing I’m doing the jacking
Got to get away
Got to get away
5-0 cruising through the hood looking for clues and shit

Creep Tip is sone of the more mystical dissonant junts off the album. The song stayed indebted to the trademark dark and grimy sound of Memphis with DJ Sound’s production no doubt of course. DJ Sound supplies some of the dopest beats. He made the melodies himself using a keyboard.

The most memorable lyrics to this song are, “Test my pimpin and watch you get served, bitch/Shoot ass in the head and dump you on the curb trick/Shoot your ass once mo to make sure your ass dead/Cap you in your dome and watch you crack like a fuckin egg” and “Some bitch gonna meet my 44 auto/Seventeen shots gonna leave your whole fucking body hollow point tips in the clip”

Another Drought is a surprisingly chill Memphis rap song with a positive message. Player 1 and Bloody Bones say instead committing crimes and selling drug that they should become rappers who rap about doing dirt. Player 1 and Bloody Bones were trap rapping way back then.

Sitting in the projects/Mask, glock, drugs?/Nah fuck it/Let’s be rappers and sell tapes instead of crack. Let’s rap about dirt/Not do dirt.

The song is memorable due to using repeated lyrics to create a catchy hook that captivates listeners to listen to this song. The lyrics can be heard at the very beginning of this song. The repeated lyrics which create a catchy hook go: "always standing in the hallway"

The song stayed indebted to the trademark dark and grimy sound of Memphis with DJ Sound’s production no doubt of course. DJ Sound supplies the beats as always. The sample used is Curtis Mayfield - We people who are darker than blue.

The junt and title track Crime Rate Sky-High uses several samples of The Temptations songs. The samples used are The Temptations - Higher and The Temptations - Zoom.

Back 2 Da Dope Track is another classic junt produced by DJ Sound. There are elements from the Puppet Master Theme and UGK - Pocket Full Of Stones in this junt. The sample plays throughout the beat. That is why the song is similar to an early UGK song recorded in the 90s. DJ Sound supplies the beats as always. You can never go wrong with DJ Sound.

Willett Klick - Willett Klick album review

Willett Klick - Willett Klick is one of the rarest and most sought after Memphis rap albums which was a demo recorded in 1995. The album had that dissonant gangsta rap edge which stayed relevant to the dark and grimey trademark sound of Memphis rap. This is evident on songs such as Fuck All Y´all, The Klick, Mind Over Matter, On A Mission, and Dumpin' niggas up in ditches hold up as a testament to the dark grimey sound of Memhis.

The album only exists on cassette format. Willett Klick - Willett Klick is considered to be a lost album as not that many copies were pressed up. The album was released by/on Real Nigga Records in 1995 as an underground release which is why only friends and family have the album. Sadly not much is known about the Willett Klick. What is known about the Willett Klick is that the Willett Klick lived somewhere on Willett Street in the Glenview neighborhood.

Willett Klick came hard as fuck and versatile on Fuck All Y´all with their Southern drawl and twang. The song Fuck All Y´all serves as a “fuck you” to the haters. Their lyrics and beats are dope for an underground song. The song sounds very underground and is tight as fuck.

Fuck All Y´all was a song Willett Klick recorded with Tommy Wright III when they were signed to Real Nigga Records. DJ Squeeky introduced the world to Willett Klick on the album Tommy Wright III - On The Run in 1996.

Niggas try to fuck Willett Klick in the game but they ain’t going out like that. They all pack a gats loaded to the extreme. Niggas think they’re faking. Why don’t you test them and see what I mean? Because it’s kinda hard when you’re alone by the city streets. Suckers don’t speak if you’re weak knowing talk is cheap.

Stay about your hustle if you’re real when you’re clocking green. Shaking them bones shooting them tones and breaking a bitch with this scheme. They let busters in the game hang like a ropе. Talking shit makes them switch into O.J. and cut your throat.

Bitches on a mission. Suckers hate to see them ball. Don’t you journеy through their neighborhood. Fucking for cash and flicking your ass. The Willett Klick is known to whip a bitch good. Get on about your business if you like the fucking life you life. Fucking with this pimpin will have you limping or you might get killed. So weak about the game when your brain is blown out on the curve. When the smoke clears Willett Klick will be standing here. Willett Klick will be the only ones standing when the smoke clears.

Don’t be another victim of a homicide committed by the Willett Klick. Don’t fall victim to the nine blast when people are reminiscing over your ass. You suckers better get the picture.

The Willett Klick are low down niggas who approaches these busters nicely. They only care enough to kill your family. They’ll do anything to get you bitches killed. Everybody dies. Willett Klick don’t trust no motherfuckers because these suckers steady tredding. Willett Klick knows the end is coming. So they’ve got to get away from all these suckers.Feel the change and the range of those psychopaths. You bitches feel the pain. The Willett Klick is known for damaging leaving these bitches full of slugs.

Busters are flodging and dodging all of their bullets. Suckers running Willett Klick’s gunning down motherfuckers. They are blasting bitches, taking riches, and dumping bodies off in ditches. They are breaking niggas off with this bloody glock. Whoop you bad with this thang. Now you need some fucking stitches. Tell this stupid shit to their nines. Ratatata on your ass. They keep the sawed off right between your eyes. Damn right you die tonight.

Riding with some killers with the niggas ain’t take no shit. Pumping out these hollow clips. So come into their world where hustlers, pimps, and hoes can’t stand a chance.

The Willett Klick is dumping bodies off in ditches in Dumpin' niggas up in ditches. Dumpin' niggas up in ditches is an example of gangsta rap that was popular with the Memphis underground during the 1990s.

The Willett Klick thinks about the bitches they have killed. They are pumped up full of drugs at this point. Clearly they might try to do a hit. Thinking about death is what they are focused on. Them bitches gonna die today. And so will 3 other silly suckers. Their lives will be taken. They were ones that Willett Klick caught slipping off guard while walking from the corner store. Willett Klick handled business. Willett Klick bucked on the fool with the glock pointed to his head. The fool knew that he was dead. One gone and two to go. They gotta find that other hoe. There's gonna be more bodies in the ditch. Bitch, I thought you knew!

[Verse 2]
Woke up in the late at night, toss n turnin' in my sleep
Thinking bout them bitches, mayne, If I'm caught, they after me
So I get my 9, cuz I might try to do a hit
Full of drugs, on the flow, this point I don't need no friends
By myself
Thinkin' death, them bitches they gonna die
And 3 other silly suckas, I'ma take they fuckin' life
They the ones, caught 'em slippin' walkin' from the corner store
We handled business, cocked the Glock, time to do it, hoe
We bucked on the fool with the glizz Glock pointed to his head
I looked him dead in his eyes, the kid knew that he was dead
One gone, two to go
I gotta find that other hoe
There's gonna be more bodies in the ditch, bitch I thought you know!

Doomshop - PCP Compilation album review

The Doomshop - PCP Compilation album, better known as the purple tape, is one of the lesser known and under-appreciated Memphis rap albums which does not get the credit or recognition truly deserved. This is one of those underrated and overlooked Memphis rap junts. The album stayed indebted to the dark and grimey trademark sound of Memphis rap. They’re more than just Memphis resurrection though mainly their style is horrorcore and dark trap. Not to mention hardcore and gangsta. KillaMac of the Ski Mask Troopaz and Mista Dre went in on this Doomshop compilation. The outro and We At Yo Doe are some examples.

This is the PCP Compilation of the original Doomshop Productions from Memphis, Tennessee that was released in 2002. Memphis rap got overlooked in the year of 2002 as Atlanta had been taking over the music industry and scene. This Doomshop album is no exception unfortunately given that the album is ultra rare as fuck. This album is a part of Memphis rap history.

Mista Dre, Marco, KillaMac, So Serious, RedRum, Playa Dre, E-1, K-9, Ms. Pure, and Mr. Greg. are the original members of Doomshop. There are the original members of Doomshop. E-1 was thankful to be a part of this album and his whole team. He remembers his time in Doomshop with some of the best rappers in Memphis at that time. Mista Dre had fun learning how to put an underground album together.

We At Yo Doe was a classic Memphis junt that was the shit! Mista Dre produced the junt We At Yo Doe. Mista Dre was before his time with the way he heavily distorted the 808 beats from a drum machine.

Foe You Haters was a junt aimed towards and at the haters in life. This is another classic Memphis junt that was the shit! The junt has the classic memorable lyrics, “As I creep through the streets of Memphis, Tennessee/Chicken got me dazed so I crack the window a little”

Mista Dre not only produced the outro but he performed a verse on the outro at the same time. Mista Dre said he had fun learning how to put the outro together. Mista Dre was before his time. Especially with the way he heavily distorted the 808 beats from a drum machine. His production is what made the outro classic no doubt. Dark is one word to describe the outro.

I rate this album 4/5****!!

Mariah Carey - Christmas album review

Mariah Carey - Christmas was the best Christmas album from 1995. Mariah Carey sung her heart out on songs such as All I Want For Christmas Is You, Silent Night, and Joy To The World.

All I Want For Christmas Is You is the best song Christmas holiday song that Mariah Carey has done to date so far! You will definitely fall in love with the song All I Want For Christmas Is You! All I Want For Christmas Is You a breath taking, ice breaking Christmas song. All I Want For Christmas Is You is a Christmas love song written by Mariah Carey herself. That's how I fell in love with this song. You will enjoy all these classical Christmas holiday songs I had enjoyed too.

Mariah Carey had sung her rendition of Silent Night perfectly on the Christmas album. In fact, her version of Silent Night stands out the most.

Mariah Carey sung her heart out on Joy To The World in 1995. Her version of Joy To The World stands out the most and is the best Christmas rendition song of Joy To The World from the 1990s decade. This is another highlight on the album next to All I Want For Christmas Is You.

Kimberly Scott – Kimberly Scott album review

Kimberly Scott – Kimberly Scott is child-friendly tween pop album with a sense of innocence and rhythm. The album has songs which have a powerful meaning to them such as Kickin’ It By Myself and Tuck Me In. Love ballads such as Come To Life, Don’t Leave Me Alone, and I Got Your Back.

Kimberly Scott – Kimberly Scott is a criminally overlooked soul album from the 1990s which did not receive the attention it truly deserved. She was so underestimated. She was about 11 years old at the time and was one of those child singers who had the singing voice and prowess of a grown woman. Damn what a voice at 11 years old!

Kickin’ It By Myself is about girl named Kimberley who wants to be alone by herself and not socialize or interact with anyone. The song has that urban edge and hip hop step in the beats and rhythm.

Kimberley would rather kick it by herself because she does not want to be with anyone else. She does not want to socialize or interact with anyone. Like a girl ain't been by herself. She’s used to being with her friends often of course. This is just one of those times she needs to herself. She can’t see herself with no one else at the moment.

Won't you tell me you'll rethink this if you have a little space and time? You can't make this a little easier for Kimberley. If you come back later, she’ll be fine.

Tuck Me In is one of those songs which has a deep powerful message. Tuck Me In is about how many children go missing and are praying for their parents to tuck them in one more time. Think of how many children are missing and praying for their parents to tuck them in one more time. This song was also about Kimberley’s friend who had gotten killed in accident. The song was so touching because it was about losing a friend to death. This song is so deep and beautiful. It's impossible to listen to this song and not cry once. She can really sing her ass off, man.

After spending her whole weekend with all her friends, Kimberley thinks her battery has run out. But she fights to raise her hand gets a little nervous watching day turn into night. She searches for solace and security by telling her parents, “Read another bedtime story before you turn out the light. Tuck me in and hold me real right. Tuck me in before you tell me goodnight.” That’s the only way She’ll know everything is gonna be alright. Everything is gonna be just fine.

Verse 2 is so touching. Kimberley talks about loosing her friend to death.

[Verse 2]
You wonder why I get so nervous
Wonder why I get so scared
Friend of mine I used to hang with
Has an address way up there
She was minding her own business
Trying to have herself a little fun
And she never knew what hit her
She never saw tomorrow come

You wonder why she gets so nervous and wonder why she gets so scared? A friend of mine I used to hang with died suddenly. She was minding her own business trying to have herself a little fun. And she never knew what hit her. She never saw tomorrow come.

Kimberley searches for solace and security in the chorus and bridge with these lyrics.

[Chorus]
Tuck me in
And hold me real right
That’s the only way I’ll know
Everything is gonna be alright
Tuck me in
Before you tell me goodnight
That’s the only way I’ll know
Everything is gonna be just fine

[Bridge]
And I wake up in the middle
In the middle of the night
I just can’t sleep
So I hold my pillow tight
Counting backwards from a hundred
Only get to ninety-nine
When I call out to you
Tuck me in one more time

[Chorus]
Tuck me in
Hold me tight
Don’t let go until the morning light
(Won’t you)
Tuck me in
Hold me tight
Don’t let go until the morning light

Tuck me in
(Tuck me in, yeah)
And hold me real right
(Oh, no, no, no, no, oh…)
That’s the only way I’ll know
(No, no, no, no)
Everything is gonna be alright
(No, no)

Don’t Leave Me Alone explains the discomfort of being alone. It's not easy living this life while being all alone. She searches for love during the song because her boy left her.

It's not easy living this life now that she is here on her own. She don't wanna be here alone. She never thought that he would ever walk out that door. Why did he have to go away? So where would Kimberly go and what would she do? Now that he’s moved on with his life… Did he move on once and for all?

Sometimes in life we lose our faith over the things that are important in life. So tell me where is your love? Tell me where your love is. Maybe we can't find the answers to as to why and how sometimes in life we lose our faith.

Lyrics to the bridge explain to us and tell us listeners about how sometimes in life we lose our faith over the things that are important in life.

[Bridge]
Sometimes in life
We lose our faith
The things that are important in life
But I know just what you mean
You mean the world to me
So tell me where is your love?
Your love

You Never Know has Deborah Cox written all over it. That makes sense because Deborah Cox was responsible for the songwriting portion of You Never Know. Not only did Deborah Cox write the song for Kimberly Scott, she was responsible for arranging the background vocal arrangement and sung on the background vocals.

You Never Know tells us that we almost never what the future will bring us. The song also tells us to watch our dreams come true. This is one of the many inspirational songs on the album next to Come To Life.

There's a road that's never been traveled and it seems to be going her way. She must get prepared for her journey because she is unaware of what’s waiting for her there. Kimberly may lose it all. But that's her judgement call. She won't take no for an answer. There is no giving up.

You never know when you're gonna win. You just can't be sure what the future will bring. Follow your heart. Go with the flow. And watch all your dreams come true. Sometimes moving on helps you to be strong. Moving on helps you to become stronger.

Lyrics to the bridge tells you (and us) to take a chance because that chance may never come again. If the passion's there, you have got to let it in. Don't let fear get in your way. Because you don't know where this path is gonna lead you. Follow your heart. Go for what you know.

[Bridge]
Take a chance
Cause it may never come again
If the passion's there
You have got to let it in
Don't let fear get in your way
Cause you don't know
Where this path is gonna lead you
Follow your heart
Go for what you know
