Crooked I - Say Hi To The Bad Guy album review
Crooked I - Say Hi To The Bad Guy is one of the hottest lyrical West Coast rap albums from 2002. Each track is sure fire. Ray J’s on damn near every track. Say Hi To The Bad Guy is a West Coast classic. Hood Star, Hood Near You
Crooked I - Say Hi To The Bad Guy was the second album and debut album from Crooked I that was going to be released on Death Row Records in 2002. However Crooked I - Say Hi To The Bad Guy was never released due to various label issues and industry politics.
Suge just wasn't used to independent releases because he was used to going platinum in the first week of sales. He was used to selling 6 to 7 million records at a time. It would have been hard for him to match his level of sales on Koch Records which was Death Row Records distributor when he got out of prison. Koch Records was a different company back then as it was an artists graveyard. That’s how a lot of executives looked at Koch Records. Even if that was not always the case.
Artist were getting $5 to $6 dollars an album when they had distribution deals with Koch Records during the 2000s. He believed Crooked I’s album would not sell if distributed by Koch Records. So once Suge had figured that out, he decided that he needed to release the Crooked I - Say Hi To The Bad Guy album on a different label to be distributed by a major record label or else people were going to think that he lost it as an executive So he shelved the Say Hi To The Bad Guy album.
One of the other reasons why Crooked I’s debut album Say Hi to the Bad Guy was constantly getting pushed back, in part because it was set to be released after Kurupt’s Against Tha Grain album. That created a timing conflict.
There were nights when Crooked I recorded 4 or 5 songs in a row for the Say Hi To The Bad Guy album. However he did not see much profit off it. There was a lot of passion going from Crooked I during the recording process of the Say Hi To The Bad Guy album.
Crooked I and For the People Entertainment had released Crooked I - Say Hi To The Bad Guy as a mixtape and bootleg themselves in 2002 until Suge Knight and Death Row Records issued a cease and desist order against Crooked I. Only 5,000 copies of the album were pressed and the album was eventually leaked online by For the People Entertainment later on in the decade.
Songs from Say Hi To The Bad Guy were put on to his 2010 album Hood Star, which was released by WIDEAwake. Bits and pieces have been leaked since then. The album was later butchered into an EP called Crooked I - Say Hi To The Bad Guy EP.
Crooked I let us know that Death Row was back on the track called Hood Near You. Darren Vegas produced Hood Near You. His wordplay and lyrical ability improved since the Untouchable album. He uses much more advanced vocabulary on this track with words such as “hallucinogenics”, “biochemist”, and “physicist”.
Here is one example of how his wordplay and lyrical ability improved since he recorded and completed the Untouchable album.
Spit game with the language of a menace
I'm dangerous as a dentist, high off hallucinogenics
Mind of a biochemist
Smart as a nuclear physicist
Guess who's back? Death Row. People are sayin' Crooked I's too laid back. However we all know that’s not true. Crooked I is married to carrying chrome and married to chasin' paper even if it's running quick as Marion Jones. He’s wearing a Smith & Wesson like it's part of my dress code. He’s dressed to kill. That's why they call it a wardrobe. The boss is back with enough beat in the back to snap California off the map.
Somebody’s flow came iller? Well, that's rare. Just let Tha Row make skrilla now. That's fair enough. Crooked I is still that tyrannosaurus stalkin’, walkin' thesaurus. He’s often strapped in black. Crooked I is as as a dentist, high off hallucinogenics as he is also has the mind of a biochemist whois as smart as a nuclear physicist.
If he gets pissed off, he’ll pistol whip you for your Walkman. Put this in and bang till it's finished. He’s so sharp you could use him as scissors. The Uzi is vicious. Crooked I’s album is comin' to a hood near you. Death Row is in this muthafucka. Everytime you see that logo, scoop that shit up. It's fire. You know what the fuck I'm talkin' about.
Hood Star explains why Crooked I is a hot lyricist. The song is pure fire.
You’re fucking with a nigga hot as a flamethrower. That is Crooked I. He shoots up the Range Rover. He blows some of your brain on one of your dang shoulders. Deranged when he bangs on ya.Fucking niggas up beyond recognition.
Crooked I is in the neon Expedition wishing for collision. He is quick to predict the way you gon' swerve. Crooked I is a mixture between a banker and a baseball pitcher for the way I throw money at them take it off strippers. He is faded off liquor while breaking off chippers. Better run with the wind or catch a 100 uppercuts right under your chin.
Crooked I explains why you do not want to fuck with him on Ya Really Don’t.
Ya really don't wanna fuck with Crooked I. He keeps them pistols in the stash no matter what. So you don’t want to clash with him. These niggas out here talkin' about Crooked I everyday. But if they come at him, he’ll have to blow them niggas away. They’re nothing but rats stuck in the trap. Crooked I is killin' you niggas over oil like President Bush. That sherm oil.
So if you don't want you heartbeat to stop, then walk away before his gun pop.Leave him alone.
That known cat is gonna leave a niggas back blown. A nigga won't even make it back home. His gat cracks bones.
You don’t want to go up against the West Coast nigga that squeezes the most triggers. Crooked I has fucked the most bitches and touched the most riches. The 4's are on switches. The Benz's so vicious.
We stay ghetto for life, my nigga. See you niggas really don't understand what we doin' at Death Row. We trying to organize them gangsta hits to flood the industry with and if you with that shit then cop everything with the Death Row logo on it.
Crooked I tells us that it feels so damn good when you’re so damn hood on the track So Damn Hood. He brought back that aggressive lyrical gangsta rap with this track.
Boss Me Up is another one of the heaters for that album which went unreleased for whatever the reasons(s) may/might have been. This was another one of the illest songs that were fire.

Jamie Berry - Grandiose EP review
The Jamie Berry - Grandiose EP is one of the lesser known electro swing EPs from the United Kingdom which got very much overlooked. The album has swinging songs with jazz melodies such as Grandiose, Heart, and Showtime.
Heart is about dealing that empty void in your life. Such as when there’s a love in you life. It's just a void and empty space when the love of your life in not in your embrace.
There's a love in you life. It's just a void and empty space when the love of your life in not in your embrace. There is no night and no day. The clock stops ticking and world stops turning correctly for you. Everything stops but that flame in your heart that keeps burning. Yearning for love.
The titular track Grandiose is backed by a barrage of vintage sound big band jazz horns and a lush drum kit. Think of that vintage jazz from the 1940s.
Here he is in person. It's the singer man. He's a friendly fella. And he always speaks well of you people, whenever I see him. You'll like him. He is the Grandiose. Remember, you must be completely satisfied or return the box as-is for all of your money back.
So where's the brook that harmonized with the pines? So where's the brook that is cryin' for the Carolines? So where's the brook that covered with glory vines?
Verse 1 has the Grandiose looking of the gal meet down where the pale moon shines. Read these lyrics to get a better understanding.
Where is the gal that I used to meet?
Down where the pale moon shines?
Anyone can see what's troublin' me?
I'm crying for the Carolines
How can he smile? Mile after mile. There's not a bit of green here. Birdies all stay far, far away. Birds are seldom ever seen here. Where is the gal that the Grandios used to meet down where the pale moon shines? Anyone can see what's troublin' him? He is crying for the Carolines. That gal is one of the Carolines.

Jamie Berry - The Bombinate EP review
The Bombinate EP by Jamie Berry is one of the more risqué electro swing EPs from the United Kingdom. The album has provocative themes which contain adult material. Not to mention provocative songs such as You Better Get Down, It Ain’t Right Lyrics, and Bombinate. The EP has a jazzy sound and touch with modernized electronic production.

Cybonix – Cybonix In Effect single review
Cybonix – Cybonix In Effect is some of Detroit’s most underrated electro. The majority of these songs included on this single have sick electro bass lines. Enough to make you want to shake your body and dance. Each song is a banger!
Unfiltered funk from the 313 meets dance and electro on the song Dance Floor. Dance Floor is a phenomenal electro song that will make you want to shake your body and dance. The bass line is what makes Dance Floor stand out.
The song Cybonix In Effect is a representation and example of some of the seminal electro music from the Detroit-based D-Bass Records record label. Nearly 5 minutes of electro synths, lo-fi sound, and thin beats. This is a seminal electro song from Cybonix. Cybonix In Effect is a phenomenal electro song that will make you want to shake your body and dance.
Let's Bang is a sick electro song with some ultra loud sick beats. The Chemical Brothers sampled Let's Bang in their song ‘Just Bang'.

Teairra Marí - Second Round album review
Teairra Marí - Second Round is the dance pop laced sophomore album from singer-songwriter Teairra Marí. Her mezzo-soprano voice graces the album. She co-produced and co-wrote every song on Second Round with the help of her producers. Producers Sean Garrett, Ne-Yo, Kanye West, Pharrell, and Darkchild have contributed to her album.
Here is what happened to Teairra Marí’s second album.
Teairra Marí started work on her second album called Second Round in 2006. However recording and production was abruptly stopped in the middle of the album. She received a phone call from Roc-A-Fella Records that informing her that she was being dropped. And this was right before her high school graduation.
Low sales is the main reason why her second album was never released. Roc-A-Fella did not want to risk her second album being a flop. Her debut album did not sell as many copies as anticipated which led to her being dropped from the label.
When Rihanna started becoming popular, Teairra Marí got less attention causing a lack of promotion and the release date for album to be pushed back. Rihanna becoming the spotlight at the label is another factor which led her second album to be shelved.
In the Lex is one of those bouncy car hopping tunes with an upbeat edge of dance pop. This bouncy tune was re-recorded for her second album in 2006.
You hear that? That's the sound of Teairra Marí and her girls in the Lexus cruisin' to the club. If you don't know, let me tell you. Teairra Marí and her girls step in the club lookin' marvelous. Teairra Marí got her hair done. Her girls gon' be down tonight. Teairra Marí and her girls are gonna hit the dance floor. They’re here to let everybody know they’re in the house tonight. That's just the way it goes.
They are ready to impress to impress the floor. Teairra Marí is a naughty hottie. And everybody knows. When she hits the door, she’ll hit the floor.
So you see how many fellas tryna spit game to them. So many fellas and playas wanna get with Teairra Marí and her girls. It's Ciara, Shontelle, Crystal, Teairra, and Danielle walking through the door with ice, Gucci bags, and Chanel clothing on the back. Tell me if you think you can handle that. I don't really know if you can handle that. So maybe you should go. They’re too hot to handle.
The first single Play Me was co-written by Teairra Marí. The first single Wait A Minute is slated to be released January 2, 2006. However this never happened due to label decisions and the fact that Def Jam held the rights to the song Play Me.
Wait A Minute was a Teairra Marí/Bow Wow duet. The song deals with Bow Wow being unfaithful to Teairra Marí by going from girl to girl. Dating them behind her back. So now these girls are confronting him about his actions.

Michelle Mitchell - Love Of My Life aka The Michelle Mitchell Story album review
Michelle Mitchell - Love Of My Life aka The Michelle Mitchell Story is one of the lesser known unreleased albums from the East Coast based label Roc-A-Fella Records. Hardly anyone knows about this album. The reason why Michelle Mitchell - The Michelle Mitchell Story was never released was because Michelle Mitchell herself was difficult to work with and had no loyalty.
Love Of My Life is a funky soul song which uses a 70s style groovy guitar loop over a mean set of percussion and beats. That fits in appropriately because the song uses the sample of Do it Till Your Satisfied' by BT Express in the background. A handful of you Roc fans out there may specifically remember this song appearing on the 1996 Various – Okay...We’re Reloading sampler.
Sorry But It's Over Now is the heavy break-up anthem of the Lovechild album which follows a super slow tempo. Sorry But It's Over Now is one of the lesser known songs from Michelle Mitchell which hardly anyone knows about.
If You Want It is the smooth mellow taciturn soul rap song of the album which heavily samples Luther Vandross - Any Love. Ski was a hot producer in the 90s era who produced this Roc song.
Around 1995, Jay-Z started his own record label called Roc-A-Fella Records with best friend Damon Dash. They signed Christion, Ruffness, Sauce Money, and Michelle Mitchell to the label. However both of the female acts were later dropped because, as Jay puts it, "They were difficult to work with and had no loyalty."

Memphis Bleek and Beanie Sigel - Bleek & Beans album review
Memphis Bleek and Beanie Sigel beans made songs for an album called “Bleek & Beans”. Their album was originally set to be released at the end of 2000 but got pushed back to 2001. They recorded that album but never completed it. Their album had about 10 tracks. Just Blaze and Kanye produced the beats for their joint album. Just Blaze ended up giving M.O.P. all the beats intended for the Bleek & Beans album.
This is the album which everyone anticipated on hearing and really wanted their album to come out. This was that rumored joint album from back in the day.
The reason why the Bleek & Beans was never completed was because of a family emergency going on with Memphis Bleek. Memphis Bleek’s brother was seriously injured in a car accident involving a collision with a motorcycle. Memphis Bleek's brother became ill after complications from being seriously injured in a car accident no doubt.
So Memphis Bleek ended up to Miami, Florida to take care of his brother. Consequently and naturally, Memphis Bleek wasn’t in the right mindset to record at that time. So at their album was shelved and never released. This family emergency was a huge setback for both Memphis Bleek and Beanie Sigel nonetheless.
Just Blaze reports, “There’s a whole Memphis Bleek and Beanie Sigel album no ones ever heard. The State Property album came about because we were doing a Bleek and Beans album. During the time of the collaborative album’s recording, Bleek’s brother was seriously injured in a car accident. He wasn’t in the right mindset, but the studio was already booked. State Property happened instead. That’s where ‘Roc The Mic’ came from.”
A Beans & Bleek album would've been fire and brehsive. However the Roc was falling apart so their album wouldn’t have seen the same success or amount of time in the limelight.
