The Khromozomes ‎– Buttermilk Biscuits EP EP review

The Khromozomes ‎– Buttermilk Biscuits EP is a prestigious masterpieces of trip hop and jazz. The sound is similar to Nujabes and Five Deez. The EP has that dope jazzy and groovy mid-90's underground street sound. Not to mention vibe. Not surprising since this vinyl EP was released by the New Breed label. New Breed releases never fail to disappoint. The release is similar to Khromozomes ‎– The Sugar Cuts.

The L is one of the prestigious masterpieces from producers The Khromozomes recorded during the mid-90’s. The beats and bass are jazzy of course.

I'm Straight is another one of the prestigious masterpieces recorded by The Khromozomes during the mid-90’s which unfortunately got overlooked and overshadowed. The song has a warm hazy vibe. That dope laid back jazzy sound gives gives the song such wondrous feelings.

Orpheus has that dope laid back jazzy sound and vibe due to the upright bass and xylophones which are used. Orpheus has that Boom Bap feeling also. Fans of old school hip hop and rap will definitely enjoy listening to Orpheus.

Player 1 & Bloody Bones - Ruthless Hustler album review

Player 1 & Bloody Bones - Ruthless Hustler is a hidden gem in Memphis rap and hip hop filled with underrated fire. DJ Sound’s production was outta this world. You know the ultra lo-fi sound. The album stayed indebted to the trademark dark and grimy sound of Memphis with DJ Sound’s production no doubt of course. That is why you can feel that siccness with their album. Player 1 & Bloody Bones - Ruthless Hustler is considered to be one of the most legendary Memphis rap tapes in existence. The album served as documentation from the Ridgecrest community and Frayser neighborhood.

Creepin Quick has an eclectic and hypnotic vibe, like a lot of DJ Sound's tracks have, but somehow, this one is so different from the rest. The song stayed indebted to the trademark dark and grimy sound of Memphis with DJ Sound’s production no doubt of course. DJ Sound supplies some of the dopest beats. He made the melodies himself using a keyboard.

Back 2 Da Dope Track is another classic junt produced by DJ Sound. There are elements from the Puppet Master Theme and UGK - Pocket Full Of Stones in this junt. The sample plays throughout the beat. That is why the song is similar to an early UGK song recorded in the 90s. DJ Sound supplies the beats as always. You can never go wrong with DJ Sound.

The junt Crime Rate Sky-High uses several samples of The Temptations songs. The samples used are The Temptations - Higher and The Temptations - Zoom.

Another Drought is a surprisingly chill Memphis rap song with a positive message. Player 1 and Bloody Bones say instead committing crimes and selling drug that they should become rappers who rap about doing dirt. Player 1 and Bloody Bones were trap rapping way back then.

Sitting in the projects/Mask, glock, drugs?/Nah fuck it/Let’s be rappers and sell tapes instead of crack. Let’s rap about dirt/Not do dirt.

The song is memorable due to using repeated lyrics to create a catchy hook that captivates listeners to listen to this song. The lyrics can be heard at the very beginning of this song. The repeated lyrics which create a catchy hook go: "always standing in the hallway"

The song stayed indebted to the trademark dark and grimy sound of Memphis with DJ Sound’s production no doubt of course. DJ Sound supplies the beats as always. The sample used is Curtis Mayfield - We people who are darker than blue.

Crew-zin is a surprisingly chilling ultra lo-fi Memphis rap song which will pull you in and draw your attention to the sound and production from DJ Sound. DJ Sound supplies some of the dopest beats. DJ Sound played this out on a keyboard using the preset sounds. That's an original beat created by DJ Sound composed from scratch.

Yet somehow he perfectly copied an 8 bar note from scratch from Three Times Dope - Funky Dividends. This song is inspired by Three Times Dope - Funky Dividends. He made the melodies himself using a keyboard.

Sir Mike G ‎– Project Material album review

Sir Mike G ‎– Project Material is one of the low quality gems of Memphis rap that is very much overlooked. This album is filled rawness and griminess from the underground along with some of the thinnest beats. His flows are ridiculous. This is one of the eeriest cuts outta Memphis. Bodies N Ditches, Project Creepa, and Pimpin Don't Stop are the cuts which stand out the most. This album was an example of gangsta rap that was popular with the Memphis underground during the 1990s. But one thing’s for sure is that Memphis had the hardest tapes out in 1996.

Project Creepa is one of the most eeriest darkest junts on the album. The song has a mischievous devilish vibe. Sir Mike G is the nigga that you love to hate coming straight from da underground of Memphis, Tennessee. He explains why people love to hate him throughout the junt.

Sir Mike G is the nigga that you love to hate. He’s finna catch himself a murder case by whipping out that nine millimeter (.9 mm) of his to your dome (head). Pass him the herringbone with that thunderin' bumpin' sound bumpin' on your stereo. Bustaz don't hear Sir Mike G though. Bitch, you better ask somebody. Sir Mike G was born on Savage Street in North Memphis, Tennessee. Sir Mike G is a real ass nigga from a ghetto ass neighborhood called Hurst Village. Hustlin', stealin', and robbin', and mobbin' was his life and how he made his ends. You know Sir Mike G is living dangerously.

Later on that day, Sir Mike G plans out to conduct a killing spree at the shopping center which is actually the former Mall of Memphis. Later on that day, Sir Mike G carried out his plan to kill people at the shopping center. You know Sir Mike G is living dangerously.

At the first of the month, he rob them hoes before they pay their rent. As you know Sir Mike G is a real ass nigga from a ghetto ass neighborhood called Hurst Village. Quickly you know he’s gonna claim his hood. He makes hundreds of mega bucks comin' up. A 12 gauge to they chest, if they try to test his nutz. Fucking with this pimpery will have to force him to use artillery. Scoping all you hatin' hoes and make you bustaz drop the dough. Straight from da projects is Sir Mike Motherfuckin’ G.

Sir Mike G is cravin' for that quarter sack before he cracks. Sir Mike G is the Project Creepa who is creepin' off yo clothesline known as a murderer. Folks are running after him. Halo tips from 6 to dawn. I know you pigs can't deal with this. Them pigs cannot phase him. Doctors say Sir Mike G is crazy. Nine works like a switch. Overflow these bodies in a ditch. Niggas rollin' clean.

Sir Mike G and Willett Klick kill people and put their bodies into ditches. That is the synopsis of Bodies N Ditches in a nut shell. Sir Mike G is dumpin' niggas up in ditches. Bodies N Ditches is an example of gangsta rap that was popular with the Memphis underground during the 1990s.

Here comes the life seeka Sir Mike G with the chrome that's gonna get your ass. 90% percent of niggas die. They are victims of the bullet head. Sir Mike G is one of those cold-hearted young killas and niggas on that fucking cocaine. That is what lyrics “Cold-hearted young killas and niggas on that fuckin' blow” are a reference to.

Best be coming equipped with a gauge, drop and hit to the fucking floor Robbery is the game. Watch em' hang. They caught 'em slippin’. They buck em' down with bullets to chest like Scottie Pippen. Sir Mike G is a nigga wit no love. He will shoot you in the skull from the blast of Willett Klick Thugz. Pimpin' in this '96. All of them are born to die. Smokin' on some blunts mixed with powda. Niggas stay so high. Got the 380's, sellin' coke, and big nutz. Bustaz cannot fuck with this. So make them hoes bite the dust. Helicopters are after him. Pigs have no sympathy. If they catch him, he is heading straight to the penitentiary.

Feds all up on his nuts. Constantly showing police file tapes of him killing folks. He is servin' them mentally. When he cold finishes them, he’ll load up like Johnny Cage. Tip-toeing all you bustas with the quickness to put your ass down.

Another victim's in his sight dressed in black moving like a ninja. This victim has a deadly frown. However that doesn’t phase Sir Mike G as he is a cold-hearted killer with the mind of a psychopathic. So he is quick to pull the trigger. This goes out to you heavy bitches that be scopin’. Sir Mike G is dumping bodies up in ditches.

The Willett Klick is dumping bodies off in ditches. The Willett Klick thinks about the bitches they have killed. They are pumped up full of drugs at this point. Clearly they might try to do a hit. Thinking about death is what they are focused on.

Them bitches gonna die today. And so will 3 other silly suckers. Their lives will be taken. They were ones that Willett Klick caught slipping off guard while walking from the corner store. Willett Klick handled business. Willett Klick bucked on the fool with the glock pointed to his head. The fool knew that he was dead. One gone and two to go. They gotta find that other hoe. There's gonna be more bodies in the ditch. Bitch, I thought you knew!

[Verse 2]
Woke up in the late at night, toss n turnin' in my sleep
Thinking bout them bitches, mayne, If I'm caught, they after me
So I get my 9, cuz I might try to do a hit
Full of drugs, on the flow, this point I don't need no friends
By myself
Thinkin' death, them bitches they gonna die
And 3 other silly suckas, I'ma take they fuckin' life
They the ones, caught 'em slippin' walkin' from the corner store
We handled business, cocked the Glock, time to do it, hoe
We bucked on the fool with the glizz Glock pointed to his head
I looked him dead in his eyes, the kid knew that he was dead
One gone, two to go
I gotta find that other hoe
There's gonna be more bodies in the ditch, bitch I thought you know!

Lil Yachty - Lil Boat album review

Lil Yachty comes through with nothing to lose and nothing to prove on his new album Lil Boat. This album is a melodic trap album with heavy hitting bass and drums. While rap is nothing new, Lil Yachty manages to hold his own weight on tracks such as Minnesota and Wanna Be Us. His lyrical wordplay is very clever he raps on this album. Lil Yachty indeed is very clever with his lyrical wordplay.

Minnesota is one of those which rapidly rises Lil Yachty into becoming famous. The song was the hottest song of 2016 due to those trap beats. Lil Yachty displays an array of cocky and braggadocious raps over trap beats on Minnesota.

The streets are as cold as Minnesota and are as cold like Minnesota where Lil Yachty is from. It’s hard to stay in the streets if you cant take the heat. The streets are heartless and cold like Minnesota. The streets don’t give a fuck about you.

Minnesota is memorable for its catchy and repetitive lyrics and chorus line.

Cause it's cold like Minnesota, cold like Minnesota, it gets cold like Minnesota
You need to stay up out them streets if you cant take the heat
You need to stay up out them streets if you cant take the heat

Minnesota was performed in D major at a tempo of 130 BPM.

Minnesota was performed in the D major key relying on the chords of B and G at a number 7 and 9 in the octave range. Those electronic piano keys you playing throughout of song use the keys and chords of B, D major, and F#m minor. The song uses the following keys of D#, A#, Gm, G, Cm, C, F#m, D, and G#. Which in turn are a mixture of major keys and minor keys.

Run/Running is not about sports contrary to the song’s title. The song Run/Running is unfortunately about drugs.

A young nigga named Lil Boat just ran the sack up. He just raised the leverage. He put the purple codeine in his beverage. Fuck with Lil Boat’s gang and you gonna get slayed. And I promise everything on Lil Yachty is good enough. He can't be NAZ because that nigga not rich enough. Lil Yachty can see it in his eye that nigga NAZ is broke. Lil Yachty be laughing at his jokes. Lil Yachty be fucking on these hoes.

He don't even got no time to waste money on these dimes as he is making his way in life. These niggas broke they can't hang around Lil Yachty. They can't hang around him unless they run their sack up. We keep on running it up. He can't even stress it enough. His pockets just ain't fat enough. People say, "Lil Boat, you changed" They say, "Lil Boat, don't forget about your fam"

Lo Key ‎– Test My Nutz album review

Lo Key ‎– Test My Nutz is one of the low quality gems of Memphis rap that is very much overlooked. This album is filled rawness and griminess from the underground. This is one of the coldest cuts outta Memphis. That’s not surprising since Lo Key is Tommy Wright III’s cousin.

M.B.D. did produce some of the beats and drum patterns on the songs recorded for this album. This album uses some of the some of the best drum patterns in Memphis rap. Lo Key uses triplets with natural progression over slower beats.  The musical production sound and sound quality of this particular album is very similar to the acid rap and ghetto tech coming out of Detroit.

The titular Test My Nutz is a dark but repetitive and catchy Memphis rap song which solidified Lo Key’s status in Memphis rap. The song was an underground hit and was a favorite amongst Memphis rap fans. This solidified his fan base quickly enough. The song uses these catchy and sexually explicit lyrics during the chorus which go “Test my nuts, suck my dick”. So you wanna test Lo Key’s nutz? Stupid bitch, won't you test his nuts?

Test Lo Key’s nuts and suck his dick. Pop off bitch and get it swatted.

Lo Key is on the corner swinging that dope. Looking for the folks who wanna buy some crack. He watches out for the Shelby County sheriff of course. Ain't no sense to him going to the jailhouse. He is clocking dollars and big bank from the crack cocaine he is selling and that people are purchasing deep in the hood. The folks don't know who they’re fucking with. Five-o wanna be badass.

Better stay alert because Lo Key is spooky with that Jason mask. There’s not a sound as he hits the cut right around the corner.  Back up in his town, it ain't easy for a drug bust. He keeps that yawk cocked back as he aims to shoot. Pigs on are his block with that Glock. Fools bleed to the floor. Bow to Lo Key on the trick with that hoe shit.

Creeping is the key to get the criminalistic knowledge. Test Lo Key’s nuts and suck his dick. Pop off bitch and get it swatted.

22 guards in the backyard put Lo Key on a speed chase. He is wanted for theft. Guards chase Lo Key in a red van while he is running track like a star. That is because Lo Key is a killer and is a thief in a squad car. He makes another U-turn as he dabbles up the hill. Buckle up G, It's a thief in a squad car. This chain of events is explained in Verse 2.

[Verse 2]
Twenty-two guards in the backyard, put ’em on a speed chase
Have a red van full as I keep my damn pace
Running like a track star, niggas ain’t gon' fuck with me
Lo Key a killer when I make a nigga D-I-E
Quickly tugging my dough, straight up ain’t no love, punk
Pull up in a drop top, smoked out, fire some
Mister police officer, do we got a problem sir?
Best I keep my ass in, fuck another truth or dare
Bitch try to make a move rich and grip the handcuffs
South Memphis, I be down, make a nigga bite the dust
Lock 'em in the back seat, me I got the steering wheel
Make another U-turn as I dabble up the damn hill
Buckle up G, it's a thief in a squad car
Take 'em to the ground, beat that trick under the house
Smoke green dope, we chockin’, now you realize I'm gon' fuck you up
When that click stick, stupid bitch, won't you test my nuts

Lo Key got his pockets full of money and drops off stolen possessions off from the yawk. He creeps and sweeps as he dumps you in the Chevy trunk. Lo Key is a player who has to be slangin' them rocks and creeping on the hoes. That is because Lo Key is a dope selling, money making hustler. He beat you by slangin' all them keys. Money is the thing niggas make on the streets. Bitches and hookers really are helping him.

On That Devil Shit is one of those mischievous songs which has a devilish vibe. Think raw raps from the underground. Overall On That Devil Shit is one of the most devilish junts on the album. The song explains what kind of devilish shit Lo Key is committing by pimping, murder, and robbery. Niggas know this devil shit.

Lo Key is sitting in his uncle's black car. He is wanted for murder and robbery. Bitches and snitches done fucked up his game. When you flexing, you falling so shy when he is killing your crew. His trigger will get you. Nina, have you seen her? Don’t fuck with his pimping as he will be whippin' you hooker and taking his share if you do so.

What would you do if you feelin' kinda scary? But the devil’s so evil. The devil's got you scary. Lo Key is on that devil shit. He is an evil ass pimp with the pump in his hand. He is stomping through the forest and smoking on that chronic. Firing up a brown blunt with smoke in his stomach. Creepin' straight outta the mist and the fog. Satanic thoughts got him tripping.

Omens of your death got you scared sitting in a fucking hearse. Inmates of Hell is demons dwell in this dark force. Demons are singing a song dressed in black with the long robes.

A twelve gauge sprayed. And now there are bloody guts on your kitchen wall. Lo Key is watching your blood dripping off your kitchen wall. He is coming out the woods with intention to kill you hoes. Run fast.

[Hook]
Nigga nigga nigga, the devil's got you scary
Evil ass pimp with the pump in his hand, G
Stomping through the forest, smoking on that chronic
Firing up a brown blunt, smoke in his stomach

Into my eyes, tellin' no lies,
Into Into my eyes, tellin' no lies, niggas know this devil shit

Gimisum Family – Tha Hoodwar I album review

Gimisum Family – Tha Hoodwar I is one of the eeriest Memphis rap albums of 1996 with a dark vibe and sound. The album has that classic Gimisum production sound Gimisum Family is known for. These Memphis rappers were ahead of their time. This album has the hardest gangsta rap songs such as What Yo Hood Like? and Strapped At All Times.

I'm So Real is a smooth chilling laid back junt with Chill Will and Big Blacc flowing hard and kicking street knowledge. This is one of the more laid back junts on the album next to I'm Laid Back.

What Yo Hood Like? is a certified Memphis classic which hardly anyone bumps. The synths along with other instrumentation used on the song make the junt eerie sounding. The most hilarious part of the song is when the lyrics "get your dope pushing ass in the car" play. What yo' hood like? Is it rough? Is it tough?

Strapped At All Times is a sick Lil Gin solo junt where he is flowing hard and kicking street knowledge. Lil Gin explains how he is strapped with a firearm at all times. The song is backed by the occasional Bun B sample containing esoteric violence which goes “Pistol grip pump in my lap at all times/ Niggas fuck with other niggas shit, but they don't fuck with mine/17-5, I gotta bird on they ass/Pistol grip pump in my lap at all times/Niggas fuck with other niggas shit, but they don't fuck with mine/17-5, I gotta bird on they ass”

Lil Gin keeps a pistol grip pump in his lap at all times. Niggas fuck with other niggas shit but they don't fuck with his. 17-5, he gotta bird on they ass.

Lil Gin is a full-time gangster. Pimpin' is his career choice. He is in the midnight studying, gambling, and smokin' pure erb. You know the wise guy. Controllin' crooked dissection along his own designated piece of curb packin' his chrome steel But he is looking up to real niggas in this industry like Russian Jews becoming jazz on they companies. Successful salesmen putting hits on crooked cops. He is trapped in the ghetto steadily taking criminal mugshots. They say a nigga with a gun is homicidal. Well they made it legal to tote it in Texas, now ain't that suicidal?

For the niggas with no sense on Thomas and Woodlong Boulevard sniffin’,  high-capper niggas gon' get robbed. Lil Gin is shootin' 'em double as victims are slaughtered which is an atrocity. GimiSum Family pullin' them papers and makin' em capers.

Lil Gin is from that North Memphis area where pimp niggas packin' the heat under the seat. Where pimp niggas be dippin' sweets and bumpin' doja. GimiSum Family be tearin' up the fucking club. Thick as hell on Beale Street where you can fuck on the first night, hoes.

Everywhere niggas is tryna get paid. The game is you play or played. There are killers in his town. GimiSum Family is layin' em down with a rusty twelve gauge

When Lil Gin is hangin' on the curb with his gauge in a garbage can, his hand on his dick for the freaky bitches lovin' a playa. He is liquor store bound. He hit a junkie with some crumb-numb to get a pint of Crown Royal. (That is what a pint of crown is.)Can't you see that skunk got me crunk as shit with a face mask? Smothered by the dope he blasts. Loced out with his kinfolk crest.

Smooth Getaway Pt. 2 is a sick Lil Gin solo junt based on a fictional story about a robber named Joe who makes a smooth getaway. The song also deals with paranoia. SMK produced this junt.

A prisoner up on a bus by the name of Joe grabbed his sharp toothbrush, then stuck a hole up in the leg of the guard. The guard took it hard. The gauge accidentally shot. Bullets hailed through the wind. Yet Joe stuck the guard again. Buckshots in the bus driver's head made the whole bus bend. But Joe got away with ease. Then he heard a "freeze!". He escaped and evaded imprisonment by fleeing through the woods. But then he then fell in a ditch only to get eat a snake.

There was not enough police to stop Joe's little plan. Yet the homicide squad and murder squad mastered his game. He wasn’t that far away as he was still in range. Joe might mess up cause he's a doctor. And doctors run straight to hospitals dodgin' from choppers. It was a smooth getaway.

Now back in a hospital room is Joe with clippers up in his hand. He cut his afro to change his identity. He beat the other doctor down and then took his gear. Then he opened up the door to the ambulance. The patient which was the guard, he stepped and glanced. Flashbacks from the on the bus made the guard reminisce.

He recognized the face of doctor. Then he tried to snitch. But the doctor was very fast as he gripped the mask of gas. Then covered his face to make him shut up. The doctor turned Joe over to the nurse. She placed Joe in a room. The nurse took of the mask so now it's on. "Joe, see you can run but you can't hide. Back up, come on the ground and undisguised." Joe got caught in traffic and went through a crowd surrounded by laws.

Gimisum Family - Tha Other Side Of Da Family album review

Gimisum Family - Tha Other Side Of Da Family is one of the eeriest Memphis rap albums of 1994 with a dark vibe and sound. The album has that classic Gimisum production sound Gimisum Family is known for. These Memphis rappers were ahead of their time. Everything Is Bizznez and Hit The Blunt are some examples.

Gimisum Family explains everything is business and nothing personal on the junt Everything Is Bizznez. The definition of a playa is a nigga that play hoes to make the ends meet. You gotta know the game and how it's played. It’s all about thinking deep. Some are gonna cross you out and some are gonna smoke you out. Gimisum Family is breaking something off proper to kick it at right up where the playas at.

Hit The Floor (Gimisum Family Remix) has has that classic Gimisum production sound Gimisum Family is known for. Thick bass and beats over eerie synthesizers. Windows shake on the crushes from the static.

Rappers of the GimiSum Family went in on Hit The Blunt. The junt gave a perspective and experience the rawness of life in Memphis during 1994. The junt showcased eerie Memphis feel.

Hit the blunt and take some bullshit. Hit the blunt and raise up out the sunroof. Skinny and Michael Street are ballin' down the highway. Smoking on some onion and chiefin' hay. Blowin' onion on this sunny day. So watch as they hit the cut.

Niggas from the Hollywood hood don't play that shit So bustas better bail. Because its gangstas in North Memphis, bitch. Straight up off a nigga's ass. Comin' up out the sunroof. They about to snap and let a cap loose on some fuckin' bitches. Here's your warning. When you see the Bonnie comin' down the street. Straight up out the sunroof with the AK tryna smoke some fools.

Niggas got them thangs for the gang. You know, the pistol play.Pull it, do it. If you don't use it, playa, you made a big mistake. Do the crime, do the time. Just that simple.  Playas don't think like that.

Big Jack is fuckin' with the Gimisum Family. Big Jack ain't no punk bitch. He wanted to scrap you bitches out. He finna take care of bidness, mane. While goin' to the head with the AlizĂ©. Blunts in his fuckin' brain. Instead y’all got them fuckin gats. So smile while you got a fuckin' chance.

Big Jack got tied up in traffic on Beale Street in Downtown Memphis in Verse 3. Three funky hoes damn near got a playa like him killed. He is having flashbacks about what happened the other day. So he hit the blunt and raises up out the sunroof with the AK. Read the lyrics to find out what happened to him.

Tied up, in traffic
On Beale
Three funky hoes damn near got a playa like me killed
Dizzam fizzoo mizzy nizzo wizzut you shizzay
You made a pact with the devil now its time to make yo pay

Junkies Can’t Get None is and was the Memphis answer to The Dayton Family - Smoke For Free.

Back in school niggas used to scrap with brass knuckles. But now they bucking them niggas down. There ain't no bustas in their town. Niggas used to jack by catchin' a nigga walkin' by himself. Once he seen that brick, he said, "Mane y'all can have the shit!". Take your cents. Go and buy some skunk. Go get real drunk.

One day Big Blacc seen this young nigga whooping on this junkie nigga.  He wasn't nothin' but 12 years old. He made that big ass nigga fall Big Blacc was trippin' cause this sprung nigga took his belt off. The young nigga ran behind the tree and broke out with a sawed off! Look at them, from born and shit, they growin' up fast they damn near 8. By the time he turn 20, if he make it, he'll be in his grave. Momma's can't control they kids. God's cuttin' their time short. They don't know nothin' bout a church. They just know how to use they jaw. Every time a problem come up: "Mane lets blast dis sucka!" Niggas fuck up and wind up in jail.

Ghetto ass nigga from a ghetto. Back in the days niggas think you could scrap. Fools get beat down! Fools get beat down! Junkie's can't get none!

Niggas got to realize the crooked come in every way. The judge knows the lawyer and the lawyer is gunna keep him paid. 90% percent of black people got a public defender. Once you locked up in that junt you'll hang.
