Alice Francis – St. James Ballroom album review
Alice Francis – St. James Ballroom is an overlooked gem of an electro swing album which has vintage jazz sound. Not many people knew about this album which flew under the music radar. The album has eloquently produced jazz compositions such as St. James Ballroom and French Affair. You also have your upbeat jazz numbers to dance to such as Get A Wiggle On, A Flapper's Diary, and I Pimp You.
The title track St. James Ballroom is one of the more elegant songs with sophisticated eloquent production.
Daba down at St. James Dogtown. It was almost after day. Alice Francis did the hotty-hot tap all night until she was almost freakin' out. Then he stepped into the room. And then he grabbed her arm and pulled her keenly by his side. Things were becoming real in the middle of the ballroom's dance floor as the crazy was bouncing around loudly. The girls were shakin' their fans. Guys doing the tap dance by moving their feet and waving their hands.
She likes everything about him. His smile, face, body, and his moves. The way how he tips and taps his shoes. Alice asks the man who’s dancing with her to kiss her at St. James Ballroom. She tells the man dancing with her, “I know what you do to me. Mister, you make me crazy. Now kiss me at St. James Ballroom.”
He knows that Alice don't want to know his name, but he don't seem to care. Alice thinks that she in love with the man she is currently dancing with. He makes her feel so good. Oh what a crazy man. It's in the air tonight. Alice tells the man dancing with her that he is to kiss her if he can handle her. She tells him, “Now you're free to do it. You can kiss me if you like. But I hope you can handle me. Give me everything you got.”
Get A Wiggle On is one of those upbeat jazz numbers to dance to. This song makes you move. So get a wiggle on, baby!
Get a wiggle on! I said it makes you move. So come on. Alice Francis is gonna catch you when you slip down. Tell me. You think that you can play her for a fool? Every time you talk about the money that you make.
During the middle of the song where things take a slight graphic turn but not too grotesquely or morbid though.
You think that you do
Play me baby - for a fool?
Every time you talk about the money that you make
Say who you gonna take down, use the dudes, get there, eat blood
Gangsterlove explains the story of Alice falling in love with a gangster.
He caught Alice with the sweetest lullaby. He made her feel glorious and divine. The man invited Alice for a drink. They danced to the blues and danced by performing a tender swing. And then he caught her by his sweet lies. It started out that they were gonna be friends and even more when he popped the question. He gave her roses while clicking his chapeau. But finally one day the roses fade away and butterflies got their wings so deeply. Sweetness has its price. He went out at night and left Alice with her broken wing. When he went away, Alice could not save her aching heart. She was blinded by the blueness of night and could not get enough of gangster love.
She started having vertigo at night. Instead of him by her side, a pillow was by her side. He left her with a ring, memories of swing dancing together, and painful agony inside. When he came she washed his bloody shirts, took care of his cats, and she had to vet his foods. Instead of roses, he gave her doses of lies.
But finally one day he had to go away. And even though Alice begged him here to stay, he left with squeaking wheels. Careless of what she felt at the time. I guess this wound of hers will never heal.
Alice thought this man was the one for her. He got Alice caught with a lullaby. She can't run even if she tries harder to forget that her left her with dimes and rings. As well as other assorted jewelry. She was blinded by the blueness of night. She couldn't get enough of gangster love.
Shoot Him Down! about how Alice will shoot the man that betrayed her because he slept with another woman.
This man Alice is dating is a ticket for a ghost train. Alice believed what he said, but she’ll never do it once again. Her mother told her to resist her heartache, but nothing can stop her from goin' insane. Alice will shoot the man that betrayed her because he slept with another woman. He was in bed with another chick in his rose colored world. Alice wants to choke him, maltreat him, squeeze him, and break his neck.
She’s got nothing but a heartache. Alice just wants to let you know that she is about to go insane. You know that she will soon take her gun to shoot him down. This man is a ticket for a heartache. She wants to break him bone for bone. She wants to stab him all night long with a needle. Nothing but her heart aches.

Club Des Belugas - Swop album review
Club Des Belugas - Swop is filled with electro swing influenced music where jazz meets electronic music. The production is on point and delivery is sick. The album has jazzy love songs such as Some Like It Hot, Second Sight, and Frankie.
Frankie is about a man named Frankie who fell in love with a woman named Sally but left her for someone else.
Everybody knows where Frankie has been. Do you think I can't see that? I can even smell him on your clothes. Sally, I don't know how you got be so lazy. He almost knew her. Well, ain't that peculiar? It’s becoming very clear there's something else out there that means something to Sally.
Frankie is his name. He's go to be the one who's gonna take the blame. Because if isn't him, then I don't know who's gonna take the rap. Because Sally didn't show and she's not coming back. And if isn't him then, who's it gonna be? When that fella Frankie's gone.
Some Like It Hot explains how this woman takes control of a man by seizing his soul. Some like it hot. A deeper love that hits the spot.
This man says he is the king of all lovers. He is known as a big man in the town. But I've got news for you. This woman is taking control and seizing his soul. She is taming his nature right down.
This woman is a queen who is a lover and a hexer. The ruler of emperors and kings. She is a woman who won't play by the rules. She is a lover who never plays it cool.
He think he’s as cool as George Clooney. She tells him to take a look in the mirror to prove so otherwise. She tells him, “Take another look in your mirror. You're gonna find that you've been blind. You don't have what it takes. Honey, give me a break.” and “Baby, change the temperature. You're gonna find that it’s better playing it cool.” Some like it hot. A deeper love that hits the spot.
It don't mean a thing if a song doesn’t have/got that jazz or swing music to dance to. That is the song “It don’t mean a thing” in a nutshell. It don't mean a thing if it ain't got that swing. Makes no difference if that rhythm's sweet or hot. Give that rhythm everything you've got. All you gotta do is sing.

Parov Stelar - Rough Cuts album review
The Rough Cuts album by Parov Stelar is nu-jazz meets old school jazz rhythms and contemporary production. Songs such as Charleston Butterfly, Lost In Amsterdam, and Good Bye Emily are classics which use old school jazz rhythms with the time signatures and drum patterns. Parov Stelar - The Rough Cuts is one of the most underrated nu-jazz releases in jazz music.
The song Charleston Butterfly pays homage and tribute to a dance called The Charleston and uses a time signature of 4|4. Vintage swing and ragtime jazz are used in the song. The Charleston is a swing dance named after the city of Charleston, South Carolina.
As I killed the caterpillar, I fell into a curious thriller. So I could not become a butterfly. To choose you now into my life is something I desire. I wanna be your butterfly. Smile at me. Hold me tight and I feel free. I feel free to choose you now into my life. I wanna be your butterfly.
Good Bye Emily was a fair well song Parov wrote about on Emily. Emily is in a toxic controlling relationship with a man who thinks he reigns over her and rules her life. There is no way her man can stay in her life. With her right of self-determination, she is one who can change this situation and break free from him.
Emily thinks her man reigns over her and rules her life. Emily is glad to be the one who can change this situation. With her right of self-determination, she is one who can change this situation and break free from this toxic controlling relationship.
Emily is much too good to be punished. She is much too nice to get hurt. She is much too loud to be silent. She is much too precious to be ignored. No good deed goes unpunished as they say. There is no way for her man to stay in her life. He thinks he smiles to Emily. His grimace hits Emily like a knife.
Lost In Amsterdam is about this woman Parov met while visiting Amsterdam, Netherlands back in 2000.
Parov met this Dutch woman in Amsterdam, Netherlands back in 2000. This Dutch woman had brown hair and blue eyes. She made Parov nervous. And suddenly a moment full of harmony comes to him.
She came over and asks Parov, “Do you want to dance?” Parov tells her, “Yes!!!”
Parov never thought that this could happen next to him. He’s always felt insecure but she killed like poison never that you could feel. He was falling as all the flowers die in hopes she came one day to find a place where all the souls are lying. Parov wonders what he has ever done to deserve this. His shadow gazes up to the sky. He was falling as all the flowers are dying.

Parov Stelar - The Burning Spider album review
The Burning Spider album by Parov Stelar is jazz meets electronic music and contemporary pop. However this Parov Stelar album leans more towards using electronic music and contemporary pop than mainly relying on electro swing or jazz. However there is still the element of jazz music prevalent on the album with songs such as Mama Talking and The Ride for example.
Beauty Mark explains Parov coming across something he did not want to see. Parov came across something photographs of him and his ex-lover which made him want to chain smoke and drink some more because of his ex-lover left him. The song explains their memories. The message of this song defines how sometime we are defined by how we face the truth.
Parov came across something he did not want to that was left in a box. What was left in a box was photographs of him and his ex-lover. Seeing those photographs of him and his ex-lover made him want to chain smoke and drink some more. Now it seemed like yesterday she was walking out that door. And lately he has been thinking about her less than always. He’s just been trying to ease the pain when it comes to her.
He remembers her left collarbone that had a beauty mark that he once called his home. Now that Parov is without her, he is better off alone. Parov tries to pretend that he is over her. Sometime we are defined by how we face the truth. People say that Parov should stop comparing every woman to her.
The song All Grown Up teaches that true love never dies regardless of how far apart people are.
If Parov forgets her, will she remember him? Do they even stand a chance? If he could break through, would it lead back to her? It don’t matter how many miles between them. No amount of hate could ever reach them.
They know love like this could teach them. Only when they’re all grown up, Parov will be coming back for her. He hopes that the years treat her kind. Parov wishes he could make her his but the time ain’t right. No amount of milage between them can stop their love even if they cannot see each other in person.
State of the Union explains Parov’s perspective and outlook on American politics and social problems. The song serves as a social commentary on social problems the United States is currently facing.
Parov wants to listen to the radio. But Parov can't listen to the radio because radio stations don't play music anymore. The truth is that most radio stations don't play good music anymore.
Parov wants to turn on the evening news. But Parov can't turn on the evening news because life ain't all about sex scandals and celebrity blues. He is tired of hearing sex scandals and celebrity blues in the evening news. CEOs are getting richer at the gas pump off everyone else. The men in blue arrest the youth when they got nothing to do in those backstreets and alleyways. This is the state of the union currently.
These lyrics explain the problem of police brutality in America. “Look out my window, backstreets and alleyways/The men in blue, they arrest the youth when they got nothing to do” The men in blue arrest the youth when they got nothing to do in those backstreets and alleyways.
Parov heard they burned a boy in Southern Florida over a civil game. Parov heard they beat a boy to death who meant no trouble on the South Side up in Chicago, Illinois. One thing Parov just doesn't understand assassination because when you fight for peace, that's when they gun you down. All rise for Lincoln. All rise for MLK. All rise for Lennon. All rise for the Kennedys. Stand up for unity and equality. Stand up to be free. This is the state of union. This is all explained in Verse 3.
[Verse 3]
And on the south side, up in Chicago
I heard they beat a boy to death who meant no trouble
Assassination, I just don't understand
Cause when you fight for peace
That's when they gun you down
Mama Talking is a jazzy upbeat composition by Parov Stelar. Mama knows that you know it ain't right. It ain't stuff that you had thought to give. What you're doing ain't right.

Little Mob City - "The World Couldn't Keep It A Secret!" album review
Little Mob City - "The World Couldn't Keep It A Secret!" is one of the most obscure and rarest Waco rap albums in the history of Texas rap. Their 1995 album uses some advanced production for an album produced in a home recording studio. The album has hard street-savvy songs such as Cover Your Face, Dank Makes You Thank, Let The Gloc Talk, Come Up Spot, and Mob City Playa. This is straight G shit. Big Al, Day Kay, and Hustler E put it down for the 254. This is some real killa shit which goes hard in the paint. Little Mob City is what people used to call Waco, Texas. The north side of Waco was called Little Mob City. That is because Waco, Texas had a high crime rate during the 1980s, 1990s, and 2000s.
Cover Your Face is one of the hardest songs on the album with a heavy element of gangsta rap backed with medium bass and low treble. The song uses a catchy chorus which goes, “Baby squeeze it, squeeze it, squeeze it/Cover your face”. These dudes voices and delivery are sick .
Dank Makes You Thank has some smooth laid back production which calms down the mood of/for the album. This goes hard. The production is on point and these dudes voices are sick.
Come Up Spot is another one of their hardest songs on this album which has the same violent esoteric gangsta rap elements prevalent in their other songs. The “Come Up Spot” is a place where drug dealers sold their drugs when they first got introduced in the business of the drug trade. The song uses lo-fi eerie synths over heavy guitar notes and bass lines.
Plot Of A Hustler is a dark gangsta rap which explains the mind state of a hustler and how a hustler operates as. A hustler operates in a sneaky subjective manner.

Little Mob City - Gods Gangsta's Guerrilla EP review
Little Mob City - Gods Gangsta's Guerrilla has some smooth laid back production over hardcore street-savvy gangsta rap songs. This is straight G shit. Their album has hard street-savvy songs such as Cover Your Face and Dank Makes You Thank. Cover Your Face is one of the hardest songs on the album with a heavy element of gangsta rap backed with medium bass and low treble. The song uses a catchy chorus which goes, “Baby squeeze it, squeeze it, squeeze it/Cover your face”.

Lil Gain & Big Time Playaz album review
The Lil Gain & Big Time Playaz album is one of the many Memphis rap gems that was issued on cassette during the 1990s. The album had dark haunting bells, thickened beats, rhythmic drum patterns, and eerie synths which represented the soundscape of Memphis rap during that time. At least in 1996. Now this album some of Blackouts darkest beats he had ever produced. Real killa shit.
There ain’t no click like the Lil Gain & Big Time Playaz. Lil Gain & Big Time Playaz came to terrorize all you bitches talkin' loud but/and ain’t saying nothing. That is what the song Ain’t No Click is about.
KBN gonna terrorize your click and what you bitches are talkin' loud about. Thinkin' that KBN gives a fuck. Watch him buck and move the crowd. KBN gonna terrorize what you bitches talkin' loud.
Fuck the past. It's the present. Can't you understand Lil Forty sed to be that buckwild child? Now he’s a grown man. Fuck the future. Knowledge is deep up in him. Hypocrites be talkin' shit. Take it from a playa like Lil Forty. You gotta have some heart. Niggas, if you lame to the game, then yo fuckin' rep is scarred. Lil Forty don't have no love for bustas he can't trust. And you bustas can't fuck with him. Never pass his Mary Jane to hoes all on his nuts. Don’t you try to cross that line. Haters keep on hatin' it. Flodgers keep on flodgin'. And that's the way it be.
Lil Forty is comin' up like an assassin as his lyrics steady blastin'. That is what the lyrics "Comin' up like an assassin/My lyrics steady blastin'" mean and are referring to.
II Black hit the scene and got the click with him. The click is fuckin' thick. They put an end to all this mack hatin' bullshit. II Black told you once before that he would rock the show. He’s another thug representing Mitchell Heights hard. Do these cowards claim the same in the fuckin' game? This Mitchell Heights Big Pimpin' mane.
This shit it thick as boulders for those other soldiers Don't make II Black mad. He’ll hit the gas and then he’ll run you over. Big Black keeps on sellin' crack. Never too much love for his folks on that terrorist track.
Bigg Dawg is just bein' real to this game. Ain't no love for a lame. Bigg Dawg is strivin' for the top as Bigg Dawg is that nigga so full of game. On his hustle until he dies. He’s gotta make a hustle as he struggles through the dark side. Suckers claim they really hard but Bigg Dawg is gonna pull your card. Dancin' like those .44 shells as he’s rippin' through your dome. Niggas best to watch yo step. Just might take your last breath. Blowin' out a cloud of death. Watch yo back.
Bigg Dawg is down with Mitchell Heights. Blowin' on that light at night. Standin', callin' everynight. All his of niggas are really trill as they are on that mission for a kill. Roastin' toastin jealous hoes. Bumpin' just to make a meal. Praying they don't take him under.
Lil TY got a better prize for your playa hatin' eyes. Lil TY won't be barred as he is creepin' deep and comin' hard. It won't be barred. Showin' love where love is at. Bustas sayin' they run this shit. Crenshaw got's a Freddy claw. Ready to break a bustas jaw. Better be suspicious.
For some reason, these lyrics by Lil TY stand out in contrast to the other members of Big Time Playaz. “Don't you meet the graveyard/Chillin' with capacity/Slippin' on my gravity”
Watch Lil Slim buck and move the crowd. Riding with them playas proudly. Lil Slim is a hustler like II Black. He’s a paper chasin' weed blazing nigga about that mean green. Thug lives in that Frayser hood. Bumpin' every hood in Memphis, crunk.
Mitchell Heights up in this bitch BTP done struck again. Fuck you bustas always in the wind. All you lemons stay your distance. All the real ones hear Lil Gain. All the fake ones fear Lil Gain. There ain’t no time for this petty shit. Claimin' what you claimin’, hoe. Lil Gain is straight thuggin' in his neighborhood. I wish you would test his nuts with your guts. When that teflon starts to poppin and droppin' all you niggas with that ho type shit. Bitch, ain't no stoppin' when they ride and when they creep. Knockin' niggas off they feet with them gauges crackin' rages. Puttin' all suckas 6 feet deep.
II Black got that hay. If he don't, Lil Slim got what Lil Gain needs. See Lil Gain loves to get high off that chronic. Bumpin' up fo' real shit. Don't you front. Start crankin' up this shit with these killer lyrics that Lil Gain bumps.
Frontin’ is about those who are faking the funk by not keeping it real and not staying legitimate to themselves. So quit frontin' like you’re wild. It's a terrible thing to do.
Best to listen to the words Lil Gain speaks. Since you know with him it’s do or die. He won't waste any time with his rhymes. If you ain't shit what you claim to be and your frontin' like you’re wild. Quit buckin' like a bitch. And that’s just plain and simple.
Lil T-Y is in this bitch with that scopin' ass locin', chokin' attitude, mane. You know what I'm sayin’? For all you bustas, he’s real to this shit. He ain't new to this shit. The streets is a bitch. Now Lil T-Y wasn't made this way yet he was raised this way interestingly enough and disturbingly enough which is quite unsettling. Lil T-Y is out here with the demons in his motherfuckin' soul. Lil T-Y is just out here for the motherfuckin' cocaine. Whats up with these bitches?
Yeah its Lil Gain up in the motherfucker. This shit go out to all you MHV haters. The whole motherfuckin' clique of Mitchell Heights is in this thang, hoe. Lil Gain is representing the motherfucking Mitchell Heights as always.
Salt Melt Snails is about how dangerous life is on the streets of Memphis, Tennessee.
Lil Gain was a young nigga raised in these shitty streets with no heart but is educated. He can differentiate a playa from those playa haters. (He can tell a playa from those playa haters.) Lil Gain is one a mission for that green as long as they stay down. He stands his ground in a conscious manner.
Of course he knows right from wrong but chooses to live his life in sin. Yet he says he’s not into this stupid shit. He keeps his eyes open while scopin’. Hopin' that you cowards step to the dark side of town. Niggas better recognize that pimpin' ain't made for slippin’. It's made for us Big Time Playaz. His plan is made to make plenty dеad presidents. Dеad presidents isn't made for those bitches trippin.
So wise up and usе your head. Ain't a damn thing funny about this money that Lil Gain is making. He’s trying to get caked in with this money he is making. He chose to live a life of a thug nigga. Pimpin' it ain't made for slippin’. So take heed to what he stresses and click with them trill niggas because snitches get put to rest.
These niggas be droppin' salt. Emergin' to get the yahoo. Petty anti ho type shit. You suckas get dealed with. Frontin' like you wild. Buckin' like a bitch. And bustas don't never change thinkin' that they are better than Lil Forty. Now ain't that a damn shame? So don't you try to front.
There ain't nothing but hustlers where Lil Gain dwells. Dissin' is his mission for you suckas. So he packs his chrome. To you niggas who claim you down. Best to hit your knees and say yo prayers, bitch. Because it's too late once Lil Gain catches you, mane. Mitchell Heights is known for homicide. On top of that he’s got to buck any motherfucker snitchin' and trying to fuck his hustle up. Lil Gain has the instincts of a fuckin' killer. He is standin' like a soldier raised in these Memphis streets. All he knows is clockin' dough.

Frayser Click - Broken Halo album review
Frayser Click - Broken Halo is and serves as a representation of some of DJ Sound’s best production work. You can never go wrong with DJ Sound. DJ Sound is up in this mothafucka with the album. The best songs on the album are Broken Halo, Getting Full, and Demons Taking Over Me. The album has that signature dark Memphis sound.
Cross The Click was on the original Broken Halo cassette tape that came out in 1996. Cross the Frayser Click and you will be catching slugs. That is their warning to you.
Bloody Bones aims for the chest of these busta ass niggas rolling through Ridgerest trying to flex their skills. Midnight is the time he sends you bitches to burn in hell. There are no regrets for your murder when you cross the Frayser Click. I bet you these hollow tips will put an end to that ana shit quick, trick. DOA on the scene coverer up in plenty of blood. Many of thugs they tryna' run up, but get gunned down by that Tec-nine auto with that 32 round shooting up in the air. Watch your back or you'll be laying dead.
Yeah it's another mothafucka on a killing spree coming from that Ridgecrest. Playas call Big D Fat Dad. You’ll die in a blink of an eye because Big D is staying high fucked up off that fry. Don't know why you would even try to test a playa' pimping. When they get to tripping, automatics start to ripping. Then they dipping leave the scene and nobody has seen anything. A guy caught slipping and got his wig split. So don't come up in Ridgecrest playing like you’re hard. Dirty Harry couldn't fuck with or withstand the automatics that Frayser Click bucks with.
DJ Sound went hard on the esoteric beats for Broken Halo. This is one of the best songs he produced on this album. The song has a haunting chilling vibe and sound.
Demons are taking over Bloody Bones to commit evil homicides. His thought is a murder. He can't be a victim of a drive-by. Possessed with evil thoughts to cause you pain and your murder. Stalking with killa skills you never heard of.
Hate is his state as he feels the urge for a murder. A teflon to your chest will serve you proper. Even through that vest. Bloody Bones is creeping and scoping around at midnight with his Triple Glock while dressed in black Bloody Bones is creeping with the loaded up the .44 in hand.
A broken halo float on top of Scandless K’s head. So he commences to blast these busta bitches so he can bury that ass up in the sand. You're gonna be a memory in the past. Especially when he creeps the dark at night with the AK and cuts your neck with the blade. Who's coming late in the fucking night? A murderous murderer. Better not fuck with the Scandless K.
Nigga Creep is here to let you know there right up front that you better think twice before you jump because he is on the hunt. His halo's broken but he is hopin that he’ll seek his way to heaven. There's no holy ghost in him because the demon's runnin through his veins. Bitches better recognize the Nigga Creep. He’ll take your bitch, take your cash, and then knock you to 6 feet deep.
Lucifer has obtained control over MC Money’s soul. Lucifer is about to split the sky to cast the evil broken halo. The hands of the devil had begun to show no mercy. The demons taking over and the pain he feels hurts him. The light kind of glitzing. MC Money had no faith. The hatred of the devil sentenced MC Money to go to hell. His eyes are full of fire. Clearly Lucifer has done things to MC Money.
The kiss of death did touch Gangsta Gold. He’s hard as a red brick. The fire of a convict in his eyes. Now that's vivid. The serpent on his tongue has begun to speak. And the devil got his soul so there’s no way that he can escape. The blood of a demon. corruption to take all.
You miss the ritual of crucifixion and Weasel is going to take the whole nation. No pity for any that talking that shit unless you wise up and start following Tha Weasel. Some people ask "Can Tha Weasel lead us to salvation?" Tha Weasel say to all of his followers around the world to be patient. The time has come for Weasel's rebirth. The Frayser Click is here to take no prisoners.
Mad Maine creeps through the dark side. You must be alert to catch him. But be warned that he is scorned and his mind is just too deadly. Demons start to fill the rooms he plans your murder out.
DJ Sound went hard on the esoteric beats for Demons Taking Over Me. This is another one of the best songs he produced on this album. The song has a haunting chilling vibe and sound.
Lil Yo takes the spotlight with his style of lyrical rapping on Getting Full. Verse 2 is Yo Gotti aka Lil Yo. In fact, Lil Yo killed the beat on Getting Full. Those tight ass bumpin beats came from 808 drum machine. The junt has those lyrics “Fucking with the killas out the Crest/You get your feelings hurt”.
