DJ Zirk - 2 Thick album review
DJ Zirk - 2 Thick is one of the best Memphis rap albums from 1993 which is still regarded as a classic by many Memphis rap fans to this day. This album has dark beats and eerie soundscapes which represents Memphis rap as a whole. This whole album is an enthralling classic.
DJ Zirk produced some sick ass bass lines and dark beats on the vulgar junt Azz Out (Ass Out on some versions/editions). His dark beats, eerie soundscapes, and samples are what attracts listeners and fans. Those dark beats are dope ass beats. The bass lines are what stand out about Azz Out. The flute sampled and used on the junt is an Isaac Hayes song in case if you were wondering. Not too Funkot.
The song is also notable and memorable for its catch lyrics to the chorus which went, “Stick em up, stick em up, raise em up, raise em up” There are lyrics on the junt which contain quotable dialogue such as, "I gotta live large/Live my ass like Donald Trump" and "Gotta live my life like Donald trump". The lyrics are delivered in syncopated delivery of the performer.
The titular 2 Thick was the Memphis answer to the song Showboys - Drag Rap. DJ Zirk produced and created this junt in response to Showboys - Drag Rap.
Tom Skeemask is goin' into a deep sleep. Now these niggas think he’s mean after him being waken from a bad dream. He’s the fucking creep who’s hanging low and standing high.
You play the role of a big-time pimpster not knowing when Tom Skeemask catches your ass this weekend he will have you look at the .9 to your fucking brain. Drop it off your ass, fool. Don't make a stupid move. When he clicks, you will trip and laugh at this stupid shit. Then you think Tom Skeemask is insane. Ho ass niggas jumped up and now they gonna get stomped to the ground by niggas from Orange Mound.
DJ Zirk loves to set these niggas straight. Ho's coming for the cheese better hit them knees. It's on til the fucking crack of dawn in the danger zone called Orange Mound. Tom Skeemask and that nigga DJ Zirk gonna stand. That's why the shit too thick.
DJ Zirk woke up from the deep sleep. Sweating as he tosses and turns in bed. The sun rises at 6:00 AM in the morning. He takes a shower There are things on his mind. So he loads the .9 and cock it to his head thinking about committing suicide by killing himself. Flashbacks are holding Zirk back. He is thinking about killing himself. But he can’t. So he dropped the 9 to the floor staring at himself through the mirror. Yeah the shit too thick like the blood in his fucking veins. DJ Zirk funked up the town with that bullshit. Busta ass niggas running around with that hoe shit. Ten toes down and he’s bound just to stain a nigga. Pistol playing quick to sock his ass.
Buckshotz is a murderer and a robber who is a schizophrenic who has psychopathic tendencies. That’s why he is sticking this .9 up in your mouth. He is also slanging rocks non stop and snatching purses on your block. Show him some money.
Bitches gotta learn. If you can't deal with this, then there is no need to fuck with Buckshotz. Stop talking shit to him or he’ll load up his clip and shoot you in your fucking face. He commits homicides, suicides, genocide, and drive-bys. Whatever you wanna call it. All you bitches gonna die. He grabs his gauge because he is in a rage. Smoking like a straight lace. He rides up on the strip to put some niggas on the front page. DJ Zirk is a basket case in many ways. He is always buying pussy for freebase. Get up off his dick because you know the shit is thick.
Lock 'Em In Da Trunk is a well known favorite among DJ Zirk fans and Memphis rap fans. His dark beats, cowbells, eerie soundscapes, and samples are what attracts listeners and fans. The bass lines are what also stand out about Lock 'Em In Da Trunk. He sure knows how to produce funky bass lines and give bass lines an edge of Phonk also. That cowbell also gave that song an edge of Phonk also.

DJ Zirk – Underworld album review
DJ Zirk – Underworld was one of the best Memphis rap albums of 2002 next to Lil Corb - Danger Zone. This album has dark beats and eerie soundscapes which represents Memphis rap as a whole. The album had classic junts such as 2 Thick, Azz Out, Supa Straight, Strapped Wit Them Thangz, Anna 4 Ya Hoez, Mind Blowin', and Lockem in tha Trunk. Buckshotz is all over this DJ Zirk album. Buckshotz always got the best verses. This whole album is a classic which is a collection of older junts recorded in the 1990s.
One noticeable feature that stands out about the DJ Zirk – Underworld is the copyright notice. You’ll notice the copyright notice on the back insert which reads, "Unauthorized duplication is a violation or get FUCKED UP BY THE ORANGE MOUND KILLAZ." You don’t hardly ever see or get those controversial copyright notices anymore. You don’t get stuff like that anymore. Gotta love 2000s rap.
The lyrics are delivered in syncopated delivery of the performer.
The Memphis rap classic Strapped With Them Thangz talks about how the Orange Mound Click is strapped with firearms and weapons. The song is known for the lyrics, “Strap with them thangs, it's all in the game” This is gangsta rap at its finest.
Buckshotz is creepin' on a trick slow with a 12 gauge in his hand. His mind is on a bankroll.
Niggas I be Buckshotz is standing on your block with a sack full of rocks and a Glock just to stop himself from being a target or a mark to get dumped on. Gangstas have gunfights. Y’all niggas get jumped on. If war is what you want, then he is the first to say fuck you.
He is rollin with DHT and OMC just to buck ya. Strapped with the 12 gauge, AK, and a Uzi to make your block look like a fucked up scene on them pranksters, haters, and fakers. Never try to step to this. Buckshotz is the master bum going out with a bang. Doing it with his niggas and they are strapped with them thangs. So now you know Buckshotz is rolling thick. It's all in the game.
DJ Zirk is strapped with them thangs ands is finna hit the block. He rolls up on these niggas with his hands on his Glock. So you know he is strapped like a killer. So back up off this nigga.
Niggas straight jacking bailing in yo Chevy thang. Niggas doin' dirt. Poppin' them thangs makin' a stang. Niggas rolling deep finna creep up on these niggas, mane. Niggas hanging out real g to this shit. Niggas on the creep. So niggas just don't sleep. A nigga finna click and empty the clip. So niggas watch yo back.
Oh shit. Primo is going to click by discharging his weapon and his lyrics as he is discharging his weapon with the quickness. Primo is strapped with them thangs and quick to get it on, mane. Buckshotz got the gauge and Zirk got the chrome tone.
You can't fuck with Primo. So you better make a left turn because poppin' off at the mouth to a nigga like Primo will get your ass burned by hollow tips. You’re headed for another tussle. Primo is a playa about his hustle. So he is breaking off you hoes. Bitch, I though you know the fuckin' scope. Niggas are straight jacking and packing with the thangs. Locking them niggas in the trunk and strap with them thangs. And a nigga that can tell you shit finna get them wigs split. Plus they know it's too thick so whats up with that fuck shit.
Buckshotz discusses how he takes care of his business on the Memphis rap classic Supa Straight. The game don’t ever change.
Bullets started flying to your chest as they penetrate the ground. Messing up your lungs. Your heart about to burst. Buckshotz is taking care his business with Zirk. The game don’t ever change. You niggas y’all can hate this shit. Buckshotz is coming out shooting to kill cause there ain’t no love. His click is too thick. He is tired of you bitches perpetrating and you niggas constantly playing. Bitches get him hot. Best believe he’ll start spraying. Buckshot do not give a fuck constantly. Suckers that be trying his bodies get left near a lake. He is tossing up these niggas like pancakes. Peace to Orange Mound and Dixie Home.
He stopped at the liquor store to get full and chiefin’. Buckshotz bought a fucking oz. So you know he is supa straight. He licks and sticks the paper.
Society labels Buckshotz as a thug. They can’t understand why this young black man is going drugs. This is because Buckshotz grew up in an environment around drugs. He’d watch his mother smoke her bud still out of the ashtray. Not coincidental at all. Niggas were still splitting swisher sweets in 1994. Now they take that damn cigar skin and fill it up with marijuana.
Buckshot is straight doing fine. This bud has got Buckshotz higher than indica. He’s higher off the ground than a mink coat. Nobody fucks with Buckshotz. Hoes and bitches, don’t get mad at him. You might push him off cloud 9. Buckshotz bought himself and oz and now he is supa straight.
2 Thick was the Memphis answer to the song Showboys - Drag Rap. DJ Zirk produced and created this junt in response to Showboys - Drag Rap.

DJ Zirk – Nuttin But Killaz album review
DJ Zirk – Nuttin But Killaz is one of the best 5/5***** star Memphis rap albums from 1995 which has DJ Kirk’s signature trademark dark beats, eerie soundscapes, and samples of course. His signature lo-fi production is what makes the album enjoyable. I'm So High [Blame It On Tha Dope] is one example of his best signature lo-fi production. This is that true dark gritty underground Memphis sound.
Blame It On Tha Dope is one of those good songs to get blazed to. Tinimane was always consistent with them flows of his. Smoke from blasting shotguns out of a got Tinimane so damn high. He floats through the sky because he feels light as a feather. So he break out the Swisher Sweet and rolls up another blunt. He blames it on that dope.
Mind Blowin has soundscapes and harmonics you would hear in a horror movie. His beats are amazing as always. This is that true dark gritty underground Memphis sound. The way Zirk mixed in the sample of the end of Mercy Mercy Me by Marvin Gaye was way ahead of time. At least for 1995. He was on some other shit back then. You can easily tell that by listening to the sounds from his production in the junts he produced.
Fuck Em All is one of the more violent and darker junts on the album. The song is backed by a sample from the 1983 movie Scarface which went, "All I have in this world" That sample originally came from DJ Spanish Fly - All I Have In This World also.

Criminal Manne – Criminal Manne album review
The Criminal Manne – Criminal Manne is one of the most overlooked Memphis rap albums from 1994 which did not receive a lot of notice or attention. That is not surprising since most his early albums were underground albums. His album has that signature eerie soundscape commonly heard in Memphis rap. Classics such as Fist Full Of Bricks, Wanted By the Law, and Life As A Playa were included. Criminal Manne has definitely got them flows and lyrics.
Fist Full Of Bricks is about how Criminal Manne makes his ends by selling drugs. He serves fiend after fiend in the process of selling drugs.
Criminal Manne is serving fiends. Fiend after fiend. Y'all niggas better recognize the fistful of bricks in his hand, Criminal Manne is the mane. Y'all niggas better recognize.
Criminal Manne is fresh up out of Shelby County Jail. On his first day back out on the streets he is flatfoot out back trying get his ass on the town. It's fucked up that he is on them bricks. He is going to achieve his goal of getting rich. So big dope dealer better watch themselves. Don't fuck around and make a false step. Because a playa like Criminal Manne is so fucked in the game. Them dead presidents have a nigga doing any old shit.
He is out all night slangin' them thangs and distributing bricks. Rain, sleet, or snow, He don't give a fuck about that weather. It don't make no difference. It could be a cold day in hell if the money's clever. Dollar signs stay on his mind. He sees dreams of selling rocks and that's how he knows this shit won't stop. Never should you make it to the broke stage, if you do leave them stones alone. If you got them thangs in your hand scream, "Fist full of bricks!".
Criminal Manne is the mane with a fistful of bricks in his hand. He is serving fiend after fiend while out on the block.
Criminal Manne explains the lifestyle of him being a playa on Life As A Playa.
A busta always wanna start some shit. Criminal Manne can't give a fuck about a busta when he is slanging bricks while out ridin around and cruisin. Indonesia's in his system while he is chiefin on that hay. Skunk is in the air from him smoking on that weed. Drinking on that E and J.
He’s gotta get his muthafuckin pimping on. So he stops his ride and jumps out quickly to converse with a bitch. He tells the bitch, “Say hold up, bitch. Got a conversation going.” Then he stopped at the store to get a batch of rubber condoms to have sexual intercourse with her. Criminal Manne gets to the hotel room. He hopes this bitch don't think that he will pay her for having sex with him. What can I say? Criminal Manne hustles evеry day. That is his life as a playa. Kicking his pimpin and sweating thesе bitches.
Now Criminal Manne is hanging at the crib chopping and rocking up dope to sell to fiends. He hears a knock at the door. He asks who is at the door but does not receive a response. Nothing was said. Suddenly his door was kicked down. He panics and then turns schizophrenic. Then he commences to spraying at everybody. They didn't give a fuck. All of a sudden he noticed they were shooting back. Now he is running from the law. Will they catch him?
Mr. Manne is a slow jazzy cut on the album which is known for using a beautifully orchestrated jazzy bridge. This beautifully orchestrated jazzy bridge calms down the album’s mood. DJ Squeeky produced some tight drum sequences and patterns for the cut.

BOS - Growth And Development album review
BOS - Growth And Development is an album that uses a balance of positivity and negativity. Most of this album promotes positivity of growth and development in songs such as Safe Sex, Hip Hop Heavensent, and Growth And Development. BOS uses a mixture of conscious rap and hip hop on this album. BOS - Growth And Development is a forgotten EP in Cleveland rap. This rap duo from Cleveland, Ohio never fails to disappoint. For those who did not know, BOS is Brothers of Struggle.
The thing I like about the back credits is the “Unauthorized duplication is a violation of applicable laws.” label. BOS used their own version which reads “Unauthorized duplication will get you beat down!” You don’t get stuff like that anymore. Gotta love 90s rap.
Twisted Mind uses SP1200 produced beats over a bit crushed yet smooth and subtle TKO sample. The pace is fairly slow tempo. References to slavery are mentioned throughout the duration of this song. BOS gets on the lyrical tip.
The song is about a young black brother in his freshman year of high school. Things are changing for the worst for this young black brother. His vocabulary changed from cuss words to street slang. Neighborhood friends are now an organized street gang. He is already rebelling and getting himself into all sorts of trouble. His grades have dropped all because of teenage rebellion. To him, school is a big waste of time. So he quit school.
This young black brother is in rival gang territory getting shot at and chased. A strong armed robbery doesn’t last long or pay enough as people in his neighborhood have it financially tough. Someone called the gang unit on him and he did an 18 month sentence. As long as his pockets get fatter, it don’t matter. He suffers a disease called the twisted mind of a native son.
Although he is no longer a juvenile, there is no change in priorities. His goal is to dodge authority. His outlook on life is a game of hangman. Served a sucker a half of bird. Now he’s got it going on. Young boys are on the corner grinding double ups. This young brother gets locked up again as history is repetitive.
Safe Sex is and ode to safe sex. The explanation for the title of this song needs no further description. Like Keith, you’ll sweat. BOS will give your pussy a big ass stretch it won’t forget. They are swift and slow in the sack. They are stiff as a dildo. You better have a couple of rubbers.
You put a rubber on your dick to prevent sexually transmitted diseases from entering in your body. Unprotected sex will have you ending up in a casket eventually. Sexually transmitted diseases and death. That is the negative side of sexuality. BOS promotes wearing condoms.
Backstreets is a gangsta rap song which is similar to Twisted Mind. The song is dedicated to the GD’s (Gangsta Disciples fka Growth and Development). Backstreets explains how the back roads of Cleveland, Ohio really are. The song explains daily life in inner city Cleveland as well.
Growth And Development is a song about keeping your mind focused. The song promotes positivity inside growth and development. Put your head up to the sky. Keep your mind. You must stay focused and maintain. Nowadays there’s too much shit in the game. Growth And Development samples Zapp - More Bounce To The Ounce and Zapp - Funky Bounce. The whole song was heavily influenced by the sounds of funk.

KevinTheCreep – ETHEREAL PARALYSIS album review
KevinTheCreep – ETHEREAL PARALYSIS has some of the ethereal electronic sounds for a cassette from 2015. SIC Records puts out the best electronic music and rap music. This album is no exception. The mixing inside of the production is pure perfection and is crystal clear. There are not any crackles, hisses, and pops in the production. His entire album is worth listening to without skipping any songs. Not too Moombahton.

Phonk Beta – Symplex The Simple, Complex World Of Phonk Beta Jazz! album review
The Phonk Beta – Symplex The Simple, Complex World Of Phonk Beta Jazz! album is a simplistic yet complex jazz album with high fidelity sound. This album will go over smooth jazz fans. Phonk Beta also brinks out the phonk in this album despite Symplex The Simple, Complex World Of Phonk Beta Jazz! being a jazz album. Phonk Beta lays down a warm piano melody on Midliners behind some funk. Passion Fruit serves as an example of lounge music given how the beats are arranged and spaced. The Ex And the Nightclub is a smooth jazz song which will cleanse your inner soul.

Robbie Tronco – Tronco Traxx single review
Robbie Tronco – Tronco Traxx is one of the most offensive vulgar hard house singles from 1997 which has a legendary sound. Songs such as C.U.N.T. (She's Cunt, She's Pussy) and Walkatron Bomb (One Rascal Dub) give the single a provocative theme and provocative edge. The single uses those legendary snares and kicks with the drum sequence which give this hard house single good melodies and vibes.
C.U.N.T. (She's Cunt, She's Pussy) is the most offensive vulgar song on this hard house single. The sound and production is very crass. The title alone is what makes the song offensive, vulgar, and provocative
The samples that Robbie Tronco used through the song in the drum sequence are Technotronic - Pump Up The Jam, Moby - Go, Royal House - Can U Party, I:Cube - Transpiration, and Marshall Jefferson - Move Your Body.
Runway (As A House) has those legendary snares and kicks with the drum sequence. That drum sequence is what gave this hard house song a good melody. Robbie Tronco had so much fun creating, arranging, and producing the track.
The samples that Robbie Tronco used through the song in the drum sequence are Technotronic - Pump Up The Jam, Masters at Work - The Ha Dance, Royal House - Can U Party, I:Cube - Transpiration, and Marshall Jefferson - Move Your Body.
The song uses a catchy male vocal sample which said, “Runway as a house/Bring it to the runway/Butch voguing femme/Butch queen voguing like a femme queen/Butch queen up in pumps” Many people thought it was "one-way acid house" but that is not the case.
Those beats are what make the song so bangin. Walkatron Bomb (One Rascal Dub) has a more industrial sound with the distortion in the keys and chords.

The Tiger Lillies - Bouquet of Vegetables album review
The Tiger Lillies - Bouquet of Vegetables is a representation of some of the earlier work from The Tiger Lillies. This is some of the most finest upbeat cabaret music you have heard in a long time. So expect to hear that entertaining theatrical music on this album. All those makes sense since The Tiger Lillies are the kings of stage and screen with their live performances. Their album uses a posh touch of that English pop flair also.
Quick and Slow explains how life is a game which goes quick and slow. Life is a game. Especially when you are in pain. You try hard not to make a fuss.
Born To Fail about how life is rigged against you from the start when you are born poor. When you live in a prison called a slum, it wouldn't matter if that was to change because you were born to fail. Life was rigged against you from the start. It's full of suffering, strife, stress, and fear.
Palace of St. James explains how memories of a girl from a long time ago broke a man’s heart. Nothing at ever changes at the Palace of St. James. The Tiger Lillies did a whimsical performance of this song.
Orson Welles is in Paris, France trying to make some money. So he directs a makes a film which makes us feel funny. His film was about underworld gangsters. They got a new design for the coat of arms of England. And the sunlight glistens on the Palace of St. James. There nothing’s gonna change.
Memories of a girl from a long time ago broke a man’s heart. The summers returned. If it answered some questions without even asking. The girl who used to who caress him is gone into the night. Empty pleasures. Are they worth a fight? If he could see clearly he’d see all the time instead of pretending to see when he is blind.
Underworld gangsters hired assassins at (5) five pounds an hour. Well it costs a fortune to hire assassins. Well it costs a fortune to buy a bunch of flowers. There must have been an angel in disguise having around.
