II Black - Down With M.H.V. album review
II Black - Down With M.H.V. is an underrated Memphis rap classic which is once of those albums which does not get the credit, recognition, acclaim, accolades, and references truly deserved. This is one of those Memphis rap junts similar to DJ Pinky – Deadly Friendz and Blackout - Dream World. Highlights for the album include Helloweed (Hellaweed) and Servin Attacks.
Servin Attacks is filled with 100% percent original underground Memphis shit with those eerie synths over gruesome horrorcore lyrics. The way those electronic piano keys play minor notes are what makes this song eerie. This song gained a minor buzz with the underground scene in Memphis back in the 90s. II Black served them hard on this song.
The most memorable lyrics on Servin Attacks are as follows below:
1 back
II black
Give a nigga heart attack
Breaking bones all alone
Black from the NAP
Gangsta B and STV
Known for a jacking G
Mitchell Heights is the Mitchell Heights Veterans posse cut with unknown rappers and homies from the Mitchell Heights neighborhood of Memphis, Tennessee. The double-time flow and aggressive delivery is what made this song popular in Memphis. This song was and is the most popular song off the album. MHV stands for Mitchell Heights Veterans. II Black discusses how he is down with Mitchell Heights Veterans in the song.
II Black - Mitchell Heights was used for the beat of Tommy Wright - Psycho Sounds. Mitchell Heights sampled Art of Noise's "Moments in Love".
II Black was raised up in this world with these lunatics. 1979 was the year his mother gave birth to II Black. That is how II Black got caught up into this crazy world filled with lunacy and insanity. That is how he got in this shit. Now it's 1995 and a nigga like him don't give a damn. Clicked up with them niggas in the hood in Mitchell Heights. Black and twin got his back. Buck wildin on you hoes. Send you bitches back to hell. Mitchell Heights is where II Black dwells. Killaz on the rilla. So you know that he is strapped tight. Red beam on your head. So you know your ass is dead. Don't you know that you're fucking with a rеal G?
The most memorable lyrics on this song are as follows below:
1 back
II black
Give a nigga heart attack
Breaking bones all alone
Black from the NAP
Gangsta B and STV
Known for a jacking G
Fire a bullet
Hit the floor
Nigga what you in for?
Folks gonna see some?
Look into my fucking eyes
The junt Smilin Faces uses a warped eerie soundscape over lo-fi beats which sounds like a Blackout production. II Black produced the entire song himself.
Smilin Faces was a Mitchell Heights posse cut where the members of Mitchell Heights Veterans dissed Three 6 Mafia. These are some of the lyrics which diss Three 6 Mafia, "They claim they down with me" and "Screamin tear da club up/Big boy, you ain't got no guts". II Black also called Three 6 Mafia “Triple Bitch Mafia” as Playa Fly did. Lil D, Charlie Mac, and II Black were comin' hard on this hype ass track.
Here are some more lyrics which diss Three 6 Mafia.
II Black for that bangin' shit
'cause nigga we gotta kill you bitch
Flodgin' like a killer
But we know you just a Triple Bitch
Fuck my nigga
How the fuck you figure
We gon' let it slide?
MHV
SPV
SPL and
Riverside
Down to ride on any bitch
Flodgin' like a killer
But we know you just a Triple Bitch
Fuck my nigga
Real niggas, so trick
Watch yo back
Niggas need to wise up
Tryna feel they fuckin' nuts
Screamin' Tear Da Club Up
Big boy you ain't got no guts
Real niggas, so trick
Watch yo back
Niggas need to wise up
Tryna feel they fuckin' nuts
Screamin' Tear Da Club Up
Big boy you ain't got no guts
Deep when we creep
High till we die
Locked till we fuckin drop
Lemonlames talkin' shit
Lil D of Mitchell Heights Veterans also disses Three 6 Mafia. He claims those hoes in Three 6 Mafia run away because they are not real.
[Lil D]
You punk ass niggas straight kill me
Claim to be my brodie but all the time you my enemy
Hearin' what you speak
I be swearin' that you downin' folk
But real niggas never run
From the fuckin' struggle ho
Claimin' you the shit
But ain't 'bout shit
Sayin' what a nigga said
Man we gonna get you bitch
He say, she say
The grass where yo body lay
Conversation rules the nation
Betrayin' will get you sprayed
Smilin faces. They lie. They don't tell the truth.
Are you afraid to meet your death? Nigga, you afraid to meet your death. Razor blade up your asshole. So you done played yourself.
Now it's hard for II Black to live when his hand is on the steel. All that madness on his mind comes from him waking up from a dream he had about the niggas he killed. It is now time for him to do this perfect crime. He brings the gauge and shotgun pump. NAP has TEC-9s. Fake smilin' in his face.
Killin' all his human race with disgrace. Now you wanna take another niggas place. Fuck them drugs that be on the street. II Black will kill you in a heartbeat. Tryna play Black on this track like a fuckin' dog. This is not a dream but a nightmare. Maybe he done robbed 'em all. Watch yourself as you may get bit.
II Black has thought of committing homicides as these lyrics indicate.
Now it's hard for me to live
When my hand is on the steel
Wakin' up from a dream
All these niggas I have killed
All that madness on my mind
Time to do this perfect crime
Bring the gauge
Shotgun pump
NAP has TEC-9s
II Black is creepin' through the hood down in Mitchell Heights. He points and positions a Tre-8 to your face as he takes you for your blow. I thought you hoes knew there ain't no love in this shit. He rolls with the Mitchell Heights feelin' good on that dope and shit. Super tight and is ready for a flight.
Slippin' through the Heights at night. The Mitchell Heights Veterans Posse lays down a lemon lame in Playa Posse style, mane. Takin' over North from a trick because it ain't no thang. They stangin' you lemon hoes and lemon lames. How the fuck you figure?
Who the fucks the busta? Who them niggas with that flodgin' shit? Crenshaw by his fuckin' side. Crime got his fuckin' back clicked with Gangsta Blac. II Black is for that bangin' shit. Down to ride on any bitch. Quick to stang on any trick. Flodgin' like a killer. That's what you get when you are slippin’. Straight down your head and now you’re dead. As for The Mitchell Heights Veterans, they are real niggas. So watch your back. Niggas need to wise up.
Lemon lames be talkin' shit. Don’t test their fuckin' crew. Bitch so when you slippin' they will fuck you up in any place. They don't ever stop. They have no second thoughts about a murder.
You punk ass niggas straight kill Lil D. All this time you claim to be Lil D’s brodie but all the time you were his enemy. He be hearin' what you speak. You be swearin' that you down, folk. Claimin' you the shit but ain't 'bout shit. But real niggas never run from the struggle. Conversation rules the nation. An action of betrayal will get you sprayed. His nig' Tony Bone straight from Mitchell Heights is buckwildin' up on you bitches. Fuck what they talk about. Those hoes wouldn't run they mouth if they were real. Bonnevilles super tight. Lil D in this motherfucker makin' you hoes suffer.
They call me Lil D the Hitman. This snow got Lil D feelin' strange. Lil D just maintains his pimpin'. Crenshaw is about makin' stains. So bustas just have you heard a murder in the third degree. And that type shit hurt the worst. Psychopathic visions be runnin' through Lil D’s mind.
The Mitchell Heights clique clicks with the SPV. If that's not enough they can bring in the RSC and constantly go to war. The Mitchell Heights clique rolls with the BBB. Low key looters gettin' this case. Real Gs drinkin' Hennessey.
Second Clique is up in you bitch. Droppin' bodies in the ditch. Second Clique clicked up with the SPV. MHV and SPV are makin' hoes lay it down. The Heights is so fuckin' deep. Lil Gain with the riot pump. So don't try to front, sucker. Crenshaw gonna buck at you. Read the papers. That's your folks up on the news. Catch the vapors. Smilin' faces all around.
Black Bo up in Funky Town.
Charlie Mac says Mitchell Heights is pimps and hustlers. Keepin' straight to the motherfuckin' trigger because your ass is a phony G. So you 'trayin ass fools bitches gonna get sprayed. Motherfuckers talkin' then ain't his fuckin' friend.
Charlie Mac is rollin with some niggas that’s always strapped with the fuckin' MAC-10 and A to the K. TEC-9 automatic spray because some bodies are gonna lay dead up in the street. G’s are huntin' on the creep. Bitches are frontin'. Trick ass hoes are constantly coming with that phony fuckin' bullshit. Mitchell Heights deep as haters creepin' on you fuckin' hoes. So they crazy for this shit. Bitch, this shit is super tight.
Helloweed (Hellaweed) is one of the most wicked and raw songs off the album. The song has a wicked eerie halloween vibe and sound. Now the synths sound similar to the synths used on Lil Sin - Streets. This is due to the way the synths are pitched and tuned by keys and notes. One of the more nocturnal songs off the album.
II Black explains what his personality is like when he is under the influence of marijuana. He explains how he got into marijuana also. II Black not only smoked marijuana but sold marijuana as well.
These lyrics explain how II Black is under the influence of marijuana.
[II Black]
See my life pass before me
As the smoke-screens my eye
I reply, ask why
Do the Devil keep my high
Off the herb of Mother Nature
The sess it will grow
From a baby seed
The Hell-O-Weed
These niggas I don't know
That this shit is sure to smoke
From a blunt
Your back will choke
And hella through the weed
Makin' green
Smokin' quarter bags
It's against the law to smoke hay
When you on parole
I'm a bud junkiе
II Black seen his life pass before him as the as the smoke screens his eye. Does the Devil keep him high off the herb of Mother Nature? He asks why. The sess will grow from a baby seed. The Hell-O-Weed.
Your back will choke through the weed from a blunt. You can't cope. The 1980s is when II Black recognized marijuana hit the drug market fast Marijuana was big in the 90s on the drug scene. II Black sold marijuana also. He making green by selling quarter bags of marijuana.
It's against the law to smoke hay
When you on parole
That is what these lyrics are a reference to.
Makin' green
Smokin' quarter bags
It's against the law to smoke hay
When you on parole
I'm a bud junkiе
He fires the reefers and puts it in thе air. The marjiuana takes control of his mind. He does not care about any problems when he is under the influence of marijuana. Stare into his eyes. Watch him catch you by surprise. II Black is smokin' that Hell-O-Weed. Niggas down with Mitchell Heights. Maxin' hoes is on tonight.
HotRod bought this weed called Hell-O-Weed. Now he is on real high on cloud nine. Bigg Dawg got that Hell-O-Weed. II Black is on that dope.
Now II Black’s eyes might be tight from a smoked out night. He’s smokin' herbs on the corner in the hood Mitchell Heights. MHV got him crunk. He is real hazy in a cloud of smoke with his niggas.
After school II Black goes to Tracy's Store to sell his albums that are pressed up on cassette. Turned up by you mother’s cut. When you play II Black’s albums on cassette on the speakers, it will bump due to his vocals. That is what these lyrics are a reference to.
After school at Tracy's Store
II Black boomin' tapes bro
Turned up by you mother’s cut
it will bump
Why you hit this vocal shit
Of some local ass punk
Cookie is high on that Hell-O-Weed. Bumpin' at you just like that. Cookie is down with National, MHV, and his kinfolk II Black. Bigg Dawg is his brother who is smokin' blunts with Ebony. II Black with that gangsta style doin' it for the drama. Makin' bustas check it in. Lil Twin be them streets again in the wind. Mitchell Heights is where Cookie is at. No, he’s not a hoodrat.
Lil E is blowin' Hell-O-Weed. Hilltop is the spot where that white boy keeps that weed. Hilltop is where Lil E keeps his marijuana. Lil E takes his marijuana with Courvoisier. P-Funk make his brain erupt. Lil E got this shit controlled.
Here Bigg Dawg goes again on the level. So you know it's on. Bigg Dawg is smokin' on the Hell-O-Weed. He’s gotta keep smokin' on. 20 sack throw on his back. Early mornin', wake and jack.
Bigg Dawg calls Lil Twin on the telephone and tells him bring a 5th of Cognac. Ain't no time holdin' them back. Mitchell Heights is where he stays at each and every fuckin' day. Handin' out these hoes. That's the way he lives.
Ronnie is in the cut with mega blunts up in the air. The wind blowin' through Bigg Dawg’s hair. Try to test this pimpin’. Don't be slippin' on this cloudy day. Niggas smokin' Hell-O-Weed. Back to back everyday.
Lil Gain is laid back in his Chevy smoking his brains out. That chronic is deep in him. He lost his memory from cheifin' off that hay and from smoking too many blunts. Wakin' up in the mornin' chokin' off that indo smoke. Smellin' like a weed plant. He is constantly coughing due to the smoke in his lungs. Lil Gain has been smoking marijuana since the age of 12. Now he is craving for another one.
Lil Slim is down with Mitchell Heights off this chronic indeed. Playas on that Hell-O-Weed from the early light of day. Caper stickin' to the hay. So Lil Slim boosts that with a drank. Wild thoughts make him think. That means he’s inked. It makes him talk a bit while holding with that shit. Real hazy in a cloud of smoke.
II Black owned the beats on Buck Wildin. He was killing it with his production sound. II Black and Gangsta Blac did most of the rapping. However Gangsta Blac took most of the spotlight when it came to this junt.
5/5*****!!
