Pierre Copeland - Taste This album review
Pierre Copeland - Taste This is another one of the best jazz albums from Flint, Michigan. His musical style ranges from being upbeat to slow and smooth. The sounds of traditional jazz can be heard on this album also. Pierre Copeland is known for playing some of the best smooth jazz known to mankind. The sound from this album is so smooth. The way he plays that smooth jazz piano as a pianist is amazing. Pierre enlisted the talents of Johnathan D. Nelson and Willie Deberry along with others to perform on the Taste This album. So be sure to taste this album as it has a tasteful delight.
After The Shower is a steamy romantic jazzy jazz song backed with a rhythmic harmonic saxophone and a light delicate piano quietly playing the background with the live instrumentation. The bass from the bass guitar also helps give the song a romantic edge.
Prowler is driven and backed by a drum kit with a loud and lively presence. The horn is a bit weak but manages to fit in perfectly in conjunction with the other instrumentation used on the song.
High Altitude is a mid tempo smooth jazz song backed with several guitars and drums. The song is perfect to play when you’re driving down a highway at night or during a midnight cruise. Overall High Altitude has those nighttime vibes.
Scooter Blues is a slow tempo smooth jazz song perfect for a steamy romantic night for you and your lover. The song has a lively presence and sound despite using such dark chords and high notes.

II Black - II Black album review
II Black - II Black is one of the lesser known II Black albums which not many people know about. Smilin Faces is one of the lesser known Memphis rap albums of course. This album is filled with warped eerie soundscapes and lo-fi beats. The album was pressed up and released locally in Memphis back around 1993.
Servin Attacks is filled with 100% percent original underground Memphis shit with those eerie synths over gruesome horrorcore lyrics. The way those electronic piano keys play minor notes are what makes this song eerie. This song gained a minor buzz with the underground scene in Memphis back in the 90s. II Black served them hard on this song.
II Black was raised up in this world with these lunatics. 1979 was the year his mother gave birth to II Black. That is how II Black got caught up into this crazy world filled with lunacy and insanity. That is how he got in this shit. Now it's 1995 and a nigga like him don't give a damn. Clicked up with them niggas in the hood in Mitchell Heights. Black and twin got his back. Buck wildin on you hoes. Send you bitches back to hell. Mitchell Heights is where II Black dwells.
Killaz on the rilla. So you know that he is strapped tight. Red beam on your head. So you know your ass is dead. Don't you know that you're fucking with a rеal G?
The most memorable lyrics on Servin Attacks are as follows below:
1 back
II black
Give a nigga heart attack
Breaking bones all alone
Black from the NAP
Gangsta B and STV
Known for a jacking G
Helloweed (Hellaweed) is one of the most wicked and raw songs off the album. The song has a wicked eerie halloween vibe and sound. Now the synths sound similar to the synths used on Lil Sin - Streets. This is due to the way the synths are pitched and tuned by keys and notes. One of the more nocturnal songs off the album.
II Black explains what his personality is like when he is under the influence of marijuana. He explains how he got into marijuana also. II Black not only smoked marijuana but sold marijuana as well.
These lyrics explain how II Black is under the influence of marijuana.
[II Black]
See my life pass before me
As the smoke-screens my eye
I reply, ask why
Do the Devil keep my high
Off the herb of Mother Nature
The sess it will grow
From a baby seed
The Hell-O-Weed
These niggas I don't know
That this shit is sure to smoke
From a blunt
Your back will choke
And hella through the weed
Makin' green
Smokin' quarter bags
It's against the law to smoke hay
When you on parole
I'm a bud junkiе
II Black seen his life pass before him as the as the smoke screens his eye. Does the Devil keep him high off the herb of Mother Nature? He asks why. The sess will grow from a baby seed. The Hell-O-Weed.
Your back will choke through the weed from a blunt. You can't cope. The 1980s is when II Black recognized marijuana hit the drug market fast Marijuana was big in the 90s on the drug scene. II Black sold marijuana also. He making green by selling quarter bags of marijuana.
That is what these lyrics are a reference to.
Makin' green
Smokin' quarter bags
It's against the law to smoke hay
When you on parole
I'm a bud junkiе
He fires the reefers and puts it in thе air. The marjiuana takes control of his mind. He does not care about any problems when he is under the influence of marijuana. Stare into his eyes. Watch him catch you by surprise. II Black is smokin' that Hell-O-Weed. Niggas down with Mitchell Heights. Maxin' hoes is on tonight.
HotRod bought this weed called Hell-O-Weed. Now he is on real high on cloud nine. Bigg Dawg got that Hell-O-Weed. II Black is on that dope.
Now II Black’s eyes might be tight from a smoked out night. He’s smokin' herbs on the corner in the hood Mitchell Heights. MHV got him crunk. He is real hazy in a cloud of smoke with his niggas.
After school II Black goes to Tracy's Store to sell his albums that are pressed up on cassette. Turned up by you mother’s cut. When you play II Black’s albums on cassette on the speakers, it will bump due to his vocals. That is what these lyrics are a reference to.
After school at Tracy's Store
II Black boomin' tapes bro
Turned up by you mother’s cut
it will bump
Why you hit this vocal shit
Of some local ass punk
Cookie is high on that Hell-O-Weed. Bumpin' at you just like that. Cookie is down with National, MHV, and his kinfolk II Black. Bigg Dawg is his brother who is smokin' blunts with Ebony. II Black with that gangsta style doin' it for the drama. Makin' bustas check it in. Lil Twin be them streets again in the wind. Mitchell Heights is where Cookie is at. No, he’s not a hoodrat.
Lil E is blowin' Hell-O-Weed. Hilltop is the spot where that white boy keeps that weed. Hilltop is where Lil E keeps his marijuana. Lil E takes his marijuana with Courvoisier. P-Funk make his brain erupt. Lil E got this shit controlled.
Here Bigg Dawg goes again on the level. So you know it's on. Bigg Dawg is smokin' on the Hell-O-Weed. He’s gotta keep smokin' on. 20 sack throw on his back. Early mornin', wake and jack. Bigg Dawg calls Lil Twin on the telephone and tells him bring a 5th of Cognac. Ain't no time holdin' them back. Mitchell Heights is where he stays at each and every fuckin' day. Handin' out these hoes. That's the way he lives.
Ronnie is in the cut with mega blunts up in the air. The wind blowin' through Bigg Dawg’s hair. Try to test this pimpin’. Don't be slippin' on this cloudy day. Niggas smokin' Hell-O-Weed. Back to back everyday.
Lil Gain is laid back in his Chevy smoking his brains out. That chronic is deep in him. He lost his memory from cheifin' off that hay and from smoking too many blunts. Wakin' up in the mornin' chokin' off that indo smoke. Smellin' like a weed plant. He is constantly coughing due to the smoke in his lungs. Lil Gain has been smoking marijuana since the age of 12. Now he is craving for another one.
Lil Slim is down with Mitchell Heights off this chronic indeed. Playas on that Hell-O-Weed from the early light of day. Caper stickin' to the hay. So Lil Slim boosts that with a drank. Wild thoughts make him think. That means he’s inked. It makes him talk a bit while holding with that shit. Real hazy in a cloud of smoke.
II Black owned the beats on Buck Wildin. He was killing it with his production sound. II Black and Gangsta Blac did most of the rapping. However Gangsta Blac took most of the spotlight when it came to this junt.

Ari Lennox - Five Finger Discount album review
Ari Lennox - Five Finger Discount is one of the lesser known R&B albums of 2011 which hardly received any attention. Whether it’s venting about the frustrating pressures of the music industry or a fulfilling love song, Ari Lennox excels in singing about the given topic. The album is not salacious in nature either which is refreshing to hear. The album uses a perfect balance of new school and old school sounds and beats. Ari transitions from musical style and genre at a questionable pace that cannot be defined. She can go from hard house to reggae in just an instant. She can go from soul to rock in just seconds. Now this is something different.
Ari Lennox vents about the frustration of the music business on Music Industry Agitation Song. Ari Lennox is grinding and recording music but is not reaping the benefits she thinks she deserves. The song incorporates the sounds of soul, pop, funk, and rock.
Ari Lennox is grinding but the public don't see the work. All this writing and promoting has got her going berserk and frustrated. And these promised actions but all she sees is words. And these promised actions of her becoming famous are not happening the way they should be. These turn out to be illusions. These illusions got her sitting broken and overt. She is fuming but is grooming learning to be alert. Steady moving and improving knowing she will emerge one day eventually.
Ari is choosing to stay true to who she is and her confidence is rehearsed. She carries the strength to pursue her career choice. That is what the lyrics “Carry strength like a purse even when I do hurt” mean. Ari Lennox will knock your socks off if you just give her a chance!
This has been the roughest cry for her. The roughest cry for an artist is when an artist puts in the work but their work goes unnoticed or unseen by the public. However you must let these trials mold you. The experience will make you stronger. Let this song ease your mind, songbird. Lyrics in Verse 2 explain the roughest cry for an artist.
[Verse 2]
This has been the roughest cry
When you work they just don't see you, yeah
But let this song ease your mind, songbird
You must let these trials mold you
Yeah! Yeah!
Don't let this industry stone your heart. Keep on working. You'll be fine. Work goes noticed after time. Your work will not go unnoticed. Don't be too awful. Be smart.
Precious Flower, Cliche Country is about a man and a lady are in love living in those precious moments. Nothing too precarious. The song is a love song since love songs are Ari’s forte.
Their shadows dance in the moonlight. A man and a lady are in love. Their love's a stage. He’s a spotlight. She's wrapped all in his almond joy. They make many moments to enjoy. She awakes like a mourning widow but his scent remains on her body. A letter lays underneath the pillow. He's off to work another day. Evidently she is living a lie.
She says, "Precious Flower don't be gone too long!" The letter under her pillow read, "I can't sleep until you find your way back home! And I know what we're doing is wrong. But I count the hours until your back in my arms!"
Their bodies cradled in the night sky. Another day that she degrades. She always gotta have her way. The man who is dating this lady is lying to her. Because she knows that he is sleeping with Ari. Ari can't stand to be alone. So she will settle up on making these lies. She refuses to share him with another lover. At the end of the song Ari realizes it was just a dream.
The song You’re In My Cup explains how Ari had too much alcohol to drink. So she wakes up in the morning with a hangover.
Someone call Ari’s mother because Ari had too much to drink. Ari is lying on this floor and can't move. She loves the way it starts but hate the way it ends. The morning sun arrives and she awakens to a headache. So she takes an aspirin. That is what the lyrics “Headache meets aspirin again” imply.
She can't seem to leave him behind. She doesn't want to begin with him. Ari can fly and forgets all the troubles because she gets so high. But she comes crashing down. Ari just doesn't know why he’s in her cup. He calls out her name and eases the pain. Her stomach's rather bubbly. She doesn't know what she had. Ari cannot open her eyes and can't move from this spot because she is all numb from the inside. Someone please tell her why.
Ari is so wasted and can't think right. Passed out on the sofa is where she lay. So high and dry from a hangover. Her head is spinning a thousand times. When will this be over?
The chorus is quite repetitive. Read the lyrics.
[Chorus]
I just don't know why you're in my cup
And you call my name
And you ease the pain
Can't give you up
I just don't know why you're in my cup
And you call my name
And you ease the pain
Can't give you up
The irony of how Cliche R&B Joint With Auto Tune uses no auto tune is very misleading. Talk about false advertising. She uses her natural smooth soothing voice to sing. Now this is something different. You almost hardly ever hear smooth singing anymore without the use of technology.
Now this is something different. This is something Ari never felt before. She is feeling this guy. His superpower's got her sitting by the phone.
Ari Lennox gives her song a modern touch with these lyrics which are relevant to modern times. “Your superpower's got me sitting here by the phone”
She says she is feeling like a damsel with the precise way how she is wrapped up in his mantle. Ari loves the way he looks at her. That has gotten her in the zone. That is what the lyrics, “Said feeling like a damsel how I'm wrapped up in your mantle/Baby let's get it on/Said ain't nothing wrong/Love the way you look at me got me in the zone” mean. He has got Ari wrapped in his bliss. This is as good as it gets.
Her ears are glued to the phone. Reminiscing of their kissing and his swag. And also that cologne of his. That chocolate kiss tone too.
She welcomes all these feelings and condones his love with acceptance. That is what the lyrics “Your loving I condone” mean. She condones his loving. Her plans are postponed thus being drawn to the unknown. Maybe we can work something out where I keep you at home? She hopes her being stingy won't turn him off. Clearly he is turning her on. Ari is so in love with him. Is it the things he does that Ari love him?
One thing that is noticeable about Tie Me Down and Take Me To Isley Street is the guitar playing in the background uses the notes, tabs, and chords from Alicia Keys - Fallin’. The song Tie Me Down and Take Me To Isley Street uses the chords of Fm, Cm7, C, E, and Fm/C. The song is played in the key of E major in parallel type.
5/5*****!

Ari Lennox - PHO album review
Ari Lennox - PHO is one of the lesser known R&B albums of the 2010s which hardly received any attention. Whether it’s venting about the frustrating pressures of the music industry or a fulfilling love song, Ari Lennox excels in singing about the given topic. Now this Ari Lennox album uses higher quality production than some of her other releases. The modern production fits in with the beats and sound. Her smooth singing makes the album soothing.
On Yuengling, Ari boasts about how a particular of beer is what she and her lover need for a perfect night to get tipsy together.
Twelve o'clock in the morning. 12 AM to be exact. Ari’s body is little trippy because she feel a little tipsy. She is a little dizzy. What's going on? Her lover will buy the brew. Ari will ride it. Her lover turns her on the carpet. Ari is cascading on her back aching. Talk about personal aerobics. That backstroke got her stoked. So damn long. That yuengling make you do the thang. That yuengling makes you do things.
The song has a catchy chorus. Just look over and analyze the lyrics.
[Chorus]
That yuengling make you do ya thang
All white Docs and a pinky ring
Pop it so good, make you wanna sing
All night long like I'm Mary Jane
Ari goes on a night drive with her ex-lover on Night Drive. She describes the events which happened that night through her singing.
The purple is in the sky when Ari is cruising Highway 85. She thought she saw a shooting star beaming in his haunting eyes. Music from Herbie Hancock is playing on her radio. She pulls over to go to the liquor store. She cops some Skittles and some Crown Royal. Although Ari knows they ended things a week ago when they stopped seeing each other.
They disappear into the night and go AWOL like they are some fugitives. The liberation is oh so cavalier. She asks her lover to take her far away from here. He knows Ari is since sincere.
