Z-Ro - Rohammad Ali album review

Z-Ro proved that he was still a contender in rap’s boxing ring with his album Z-Ro - Rohammad Ali. He proves he has not lost his touch with songs such as Get Off My Dicc, Friends Ain’t Friends, Make It Bacc Home, and He’ll Be There. These are some Southern gangstafied songs. Now the only downsides are the overuse of trap beats and him using autotune in songs such as Right Here, Stop Roachin', We Gotta Do Better, and Goin Up. Overall this album is a decent effort. This is one of Z-Ro’s more well known albums.

Get Off My Dicc uses a dark eerie warped soundscape over hard hitting beats and bass that will rattle your speakers. Z-Ro tells haters and biters to stay off his dick.

Get off Z-Ro’s dick. That's where your bitch belongs. He’s the shit. He’s got these haters pissed like kidney stones. Balling is a thing that’s on his agenda because he was a born winner. He wants to see so much ice (jewelry). So much cash in that money printer.

Z-Ro has got his homeboys still serving packs they cook that work like a Sunday dinner.Chopping trees like timber. Y'all boys ain't flippin work. You ain't trapping. In H-Town pouring up. Z-Ro got your girl with him. She is going because she is on his dick. That's funny I know. Z-Ro will laugh to the bank, but his bank account ain't no joke.

Won't you get off Z-Ro’s dick and tell your bitch to come here? You can't afford to drink what he is drinking. Go get you some beer. Just because you checked him over there doesn't mean you checking none here. You giving out ass whoopings over there, but you can get you one here.

Z-Ro is about his business, He is smoking his dope and pimping these bitches like he’s supposed to. If he’s through with a bitch, he’s through with a bitch. He ain't tryna give her no closure. You standing there looking like a scarecrow. You scared than a bitch, boy. I knew you was a hoe.

Z-Ro hopes his girl doesn't realize he left his phone at home. So that way she doesn’t get suspicious on his activities or his whereabouts. That is the storyline behind Make It Bacc Home. The clef in his rhythms fit the drum patterns. As do the half notes.

Z-Ro has to make it back home. Z-Ro hopes his girl doesn't realize he left his phone at home. So that way she doesn’t get suspicious on his activities or of his whereabouts. He’s gotta trunk full of fed time, So he’s gotta get this gone. This shit’s so wrong.

He can't even buy draws. So he’s gotta shop in disguise. All he is really worried about is when another bag is gonna come. And if you didn't help him earn it, don't ask for none. You ain't getting shit. They already know he wants a Bourbon. He ain't gotta ask for one. Z-Ro is so real if he dresses like a fuck nigga, he still couldn't pass for one.

Let me tell you why Z-Ro don't give a fuck. Z-Ro doesn’t give a fuck because people are always hating on him and talking shit about him. So he doesn't give a fuck. If they hating on ya, cool. Let them hate. You should never think about giving up. Keep stunting on 'em like Z-Ro and Birdman. He will not accept a check if it fucks with his manhood. No. He ain't with that. Don't pass him the reggie. You know he won't hit it. These ain't loner keys. These are owner keys.

He just pulled a 84 Beretta out of the shop. Should he tint it up or leave it glass? If he’s gotta kill 'em, he will kill 'em dead, He would never kill 'em a lil bit. This shot will blow you motherfuckers out. The score is ridiculous. His life is like a movie.

He’ll Be There uses a touch of soul and rap thus creating a soul rap combination. Z-Ro interpolates the chorus from The Spinners’ 1973 hit “I’ll Be Around”. The song deals with the subjects of jealous, envy, hatred, and betrayal.

Z-Ro ain't too good with that dealing with ungrateful cats. You got the nerve to blame it all on him. Even though he said he’ll be there. He has been around the world a couple times and it was all on him. Damn, you know what? He is good with that. When you couldn't stand up, you used to fall on Z-Ro. And you hear him everywhere you go. You’re sick of him. Another summer on top is what it's finna be. I bet you upset every time he gets the victory, fame, and notoriety. We know you weren't doing nothing. And it ain't never gonna stop.

Wouldn't it be great if we were all millionaires? Big bosses in every chair. The whole room smells successful. Not just respected at home. We'd be respected everywhere. That's how it is for Z-Ro. And maybe that's the reason you’re mad. Bird ass niggas, stop complaining about your bird crumbs.

Goin Up that Z-Ro’s success will not cease because of some unsupportive haters. Goin Up explains how things used to be in Z-Ro’s life before he got famous.

Z-Ro remembers the way it used to be. Money used to look at him funny. He wasn’t used to having money.  He tried to holla at hoes. But hoes was so rude to him. Z-Ro was like, "I ain't rich right now, bitch. But I'm soon to be." Z-Ro is comin dine in his Cadillac Biarritz. They say money makes him act funny. Might as well go get some more.

There was one time Z-Ro used to have this bad bitch. This bitch used to laugh at him.  He remembers this shit. Now he saved her phone number in his phone under the contact information card as "I can't remember this bitch". Things are different now that he is rich.

In these lyrics, Z-Ro disses a person named Mr. Lee. “Mr. Lee you my nigga but I been knew you was a bitch/All that stealin you was doin how the fuck I'm still rich/I'm goin up”

Shit done changed because now he has so much money on in his account. He ain't got time for y'all no mo'. He remembers way back when he knocked on the door but y'all wouldn't let him in. Throwing money in the sky and poppin bottles gettin high is what he does now.

Z-Ro pays respect and tribute to long deceased rapper Nipsey Hussle in these lyrics at the beginning of Verse 2.

[Verse 2]
RIP to Nipsey his hustle was so strong
The marathon will continue real niggas won't postpone
It ain't a Nipsey in every city, there are no clones
Just be yourself and if you're able then put your bros on
Got 200 on the dash, I'm doin half of that

RIP to Nipsey Hussle. His hustle was so strong. The marathon will continue because real niggas won't postpone their hustle. There ain't a Nipsey in every city. There are no clones.

Just be yourself and if you're able then put your bros on. Z-Ro is doing half of that. They like "Ro ain't that the .50 how the fuck you packin that?" They don't respect you at the bottom. They ignore you in the middle. Then they hate you when you get on top. Z-Ro had been up here for a minute and he don't plan on coming down Get off his dick because this shit won't stop. He’s goin up.

These lyrics explain how unsupportive people can be regardless of what position you are in at any given point in your lifetime. “They don't respect you at the bottom/They ignore you in the middle/Then they hate you when you get on top”

Hardcore Montana - Shit Is On album review

Hardcore Montana - Shit Is On is one of the lesser known Memphis rap albums and lesser known albums from Street Smart Records. Hardcore Montana goes hard. The album uses dated vintage eerie synths, crunched drum programming that has static, and low treble settings. The album was Hardcore Montana - Shit Is On was produced by DJ Livewire and Tommy Wright III. However Tommy Wright III took control of producing most of the album since the album was released on Street Smart Records in 1994. Tommy Wright III is slept on when it comes to beat making.

The album helped make Hardcore Montana a recognizable force in Tennessee's underground hip hop scene, which was also followed by a tour with Tommy Wright III. Hardcore Montana describes himself as an artist that has a mixture of old school combined with a new school, more progressive vibe with Southern slang.

True Playa has that real old school rap dopeness back with some of his hard lyrics. DJ Livewire produced the beats and vinyl scratches. He was also responsible for gathering the samples. Certainly one of the bumping junts.

Everyday Situation is about the everyday crimes that occur on the mean streets of Memphis, Tennessee. These streets are often where bloody murders and robberies occur. This was because Memphis was the murder capital of the United States next to New Orleans, Flint, Oakland, San Antonio, Fort Worth, Saginaw, Los Angeles, New York City, and Detroit back in 1994. The song uses dated vintage eerie synths which make the song very haunting and morbid. Those dated vintage eerie synths make the song dope.

211 uses chords, notes, and synths from the Phantasm theme. That makes 211 sound more eerie, dark, haunting, and drastic. The song also uses a sample from the instrumental Twist Cap Back which came from DJ Livewire - Vol. 6. That is why you can hear DJ Livewire’s production and sound all over the song. The samples used in 211 were DJ Livewire - Twist Cap Back, Doug E Fresh - Play This Only At Night, and the Phantasm theme.

Act Like You Know is actually Act Like U Know which came from 10 Wanted Men - Ten Toes Down.  This was the raw version.

Hardcore Montana is pimping all you bitches and hoes. Hardcore Montana eliminates al and any competition. Some people say it ain't hard enough but his music ain't got nothing to do with the way he busts a rhyme. I thought you knew but you didn’t. You better act like you know.

It’s time for Tommy Wright III to push a busta motherfucker off the Memphis Bridge bka Hernando de Soto Bridge which goes over the Mississippi River. So Tommy Wright III finds a busta motherfucker to push off the Memphis Bridge bka Hernando de Soto Bridge and then it is time for him to go split another nigga’s wig. Then it’s time to leave a bitch in the fucking street which is what he does afterwards. These lyrics summarize the crimes he committed, “It’s time to leave a bitch in the fucking street 6 feet deep/Time to push a busta motherfucker off the Memphis Bridge/time to split a nigga wig”

Tommy Wright III is creeping and never sleeping. A nigga like him just doesn’t care who dies. Playas gotta duck and dive. Playa hatas just can't stop it.

Avril Lavigne - Control Room - Live EP EP review

Avril Lavigne - Control Room - Live EP one of the many acoustic EPs from Canadian pop punk princess Avril Lavigne that was a digital release for the digital market online. The EP included hits from her albums Let Go and The Best Damn Thing. Avril Lavigne - Control Room - Live EP was released on April 15, 2008, as a digital download. The songs were recorded at The Roxy Theater in Los Angeles, California. For some strange reason, the most popular song on the EP is “Adia” which is a cover song where Avril Lavigne covered the Sarah McLachlan song “Adia”.

Avril proved to us how she was the princess of punk pop in 2007 with her smash trailblazing hit Girlfriend. She used a fusion of punk rock and pop in the song. She proved to us that she was and is the motherfuckin' princess. The motherfuckin' punk pop princess.

Here is the synopsis of Girlfriend. Avril talks about liking a man who is in love with another woman who is an unworthy partner. Avril doesn’t not like his current girlfriend as Avril believes she is an unworthy partner. Avril things he needs a new girlfriend as she does not like his current girlfriend. She wants to be his girlfriend. Avril is aware that he likes her. You know it's not a secret.

Avril thinks about him all the time. He’s so addictive and delicious. He’s so fine. Don't pretend he’s not. And hell yeah, Avril Lavigne is the motherfuckin' princess. The motherfuckin' punk pop princess.

He could do so much better with Avril in her life. She's like so whatever. And that's what everyone's talkin' about. Avril sees the way he looks at her. She knows he talks about her all the time again and again. Avril is damn precious. Don’t deny it. He clearly thinks of her.

Hot is a “burlesque” pop rock ballad where Avril sings away her feelings about her boyfriend. This boyfriend of hers makes her “hot”. It’s so ridiculous.

Avril wants to lock her boyfriend up in her closet where no one's around. She wants to drive him into the corner and kiss him without a sound. She wants things to stay this way forever. Avril tells her boyfriend, “You're so good to me, baby, baby.” Her boyfriend makes her so hot. It’s so ridiculous, She can barely stop and she can hardly breathe.

Avril plans to show her boyfriend all the places he has never been. She can truly make him feel all better. Ooh la la. Avril asks her boyfriend to kiss her gently. And to hold her and never let go. She can barely stop. They will do this again and again all night. She will let him do anything he wants.

Sk8er Boi is a pop punk love song that was a classic. The whole song has a punk rock vibe with such angst. The whole song was pretty much a pop song at best. Pop meets rock thus creating a combination and fusion of pop rock.

Sk8er Boi is what also launched Avril into stardom among the song Complicated in 2002. In fact, Sk8er Boi almost outmatched Complicated in terms of sales figures. However both singles reached platinum status going more than 2x platinum worldwide.

Losing Grip is the first song on the album that has more heavier song with a grunge sound. This song shows the "rocker" side of Avril. The song was appropriate to start off the album with.

The song Losing Grip is about a girl who has been pushed aside and ignored by her boyfriend. The boyfriend was never there for her. Of course she never let him know until it was all over. Now she is bitter and hurt from what had just occurred. She is lost and confused by her boyfriend.

The bridge is the best of the song where things intensify quickly.

[Bridge]
Cryin' out loud, I'm cryin' out loud
Cryin' out loud, I'm cryin' out loud

Criminal Manne – Greatest Hitz album review

Criminal Manne – Greatest Hitz is one of the most overlooked Memphis rap albums from 1995 which did not receive a lot of notice or attention. That is not surprising since most his early albums were underground albums. His album has that signature eerie soundscape commonly heard in Memphis rap. Classics such as Fist Full Of Bricks, Ridin' Steamer, and Life As A Playa were included. Criminal Manne has definitely got them flows and lyrics.

Fist Full Of Bricks is about how Criminal Manne makes his ends by selling drugs. He serves fiend after fiend in the process of selling drugs.

Criminal Manne is serving fiends. Fiend after fiend. Y'all niggas better recognize the fistful of bricks in his hand, Criminal Manne is the mane. Y'all niggas better recognize.

Criminal Manne is fresh up out of Shelby County Jail. On his first day back out on the streets he is flatfoot out back trying get his ass on the town. It's fucked up that he is on them bricks. He is going to achieve his goal of getting rich. So big dope dealer better watch themselves. Don't fuck around and make a false step. Because a playa like Criminal Manne is so fucked in the game. Them dead presidents have a nigga doing any old shit.

He is out all night slangin' them thangs and distributing bricks.Rain, sleet, or snow, He don't give a fuck about that weather. It don't make no difference. It could be a cold day in hell if the money's clever. Dollar signs stay on his mind. He sees dreams of selling rocks and that's how he knows this shit won't stop. Never should you make it to the broke stage, if you do leave them stones alone. If you got them thangs in your hand scream, "Fist full of bricks!". Criminal Manne is the mane with a fistful of bricks in his hand. He is serving fiend after fiend while out on the block.

Criminal Manne explains the lifestyle of him being a playa on Life As A Playa.

A busta always wanna start some shit. Criminal Manne can't give a fuck about a busta when he is slanging bricks while out ridin around and cruisin. Indonesia's in his system while he is chiefin on that hay. Skunk is in the air from him smoking on that weed. Drinking on that E and J.

He’s gotta get his muthafuckin pimping on. So he stops his ride and jumps out quickly to converse with a bitch. He tells the bitch, “Say hold up, bitch. Got a conversation going.” Then he stopped at the store to get a batch of rubber condoms to have sexual intercourse with her. Criminal Manne gets to the hotel room. He hopes this bitch don't think that he will pay her for having sex with him. What can I say? Criminal Manne hustles evеry day. That is his life as a playa. Kicking his pimpin and sweating thesе bitches.

Now Criminal Manne is hanging at the crib chopping and rocking up dope to sell to fiends. He hears a knock at the door. He asks who is at the door but does not receive a response. Nothing was said. Suddenly his door was kicked down. He panics and then turns schizophrenic. Then he commences to spraying at everybody. They didn't give a fuck. All of a sudden he noticed they were shooting back. Now he is running from the law. Will they catch him?

All About My Hog is basically about selling dope and getting money.

Syzygy – Omnitude EP EP review

Syzygy – Omnitude EP is a mixture of progressive trance and goa trance. This is a must have for any fans of trance music. You can feel the intensity rising when you listen to Omnitude. Think of the pleasure experience during an intense orgasm. Especially with those chords and bass lines. However the cymbals sound a bit distorted. The beats are absolutely bananas. Osiris is even more trance like and hypnotic than Omnitude. A didgeridoo is intertwined with the chords and synths in the beginning.

Avril Lavigne - Walmart Soundcheck EP review

Avril Lavigne - Walmart Soundcheck was a live EP released exclusively through Walmart in the middle of 2007. It was released as a digital EP as well as played on televisions inside Walmart retail stores.

I Can Do Better is someone getting over someone whether it be a friend, a boyfriend, a girlfriend, significant other, or a certain crush. Whatever the case, this song certainly is rubbing it in their faces you can and will find someone to treat you  the way you deserve to be treated. That you will find someone better. It’s basically that.

It is evident and painfully obvious that Avril is tired of this shit. So don’t ask why and don’t deny it.

[Pre-Chorus]
I'm sick of this shit, don't deny
You're a waste of time
I'm sick of this shit, don't ask why

Losing Grip is the first song on the album that has more heavier song with a grunge sound. This song shows the "rocker" side of Avril. The song was appropriate to start off the album with.

The song Losing Grip is about a girl who has been pushed aside and ignored by her boyfriend. The boyfriend was never there for her. Of course she never let him know until it was all over. Now she is bitter and hurt from what had just occurred. She is lost and confused by her boyfriend.

[Bridge]

Cryin' out loud, I'm cryin' out loud

The Best Damn Thing is the single that is a cheerleader pop song about how Avril Lavigne is “the best damn thing” your eyes will have ever seen toward any man out there willing to be her boyfriend. It is a pop oriented song. Avril Lavigne definitely went all out with this song. It’s painfully obvious she went the sellout route here. Avril Lavigne can create a scene as she is a scene. She’s a drama queen. She’s the best damn thing that your eyes have ever seen! Like it or not.

The Best Damn Thing” was released as the final single on June 21, 2008. The song charted at #7 on the US Billboard Charts under the Hot 100 Singles chart. The song would later peaked at #95 on the Hot 100 Singles chart. However The Best Damn Thing didn’t perform as well commercially as some of her previous singles. Oh the irony.

Apparently a guy not getting the door for her really gets on her last nerves as evidenced in He Wasn’t from the Under My Skin album and on Verse 1 for this song.

[Verse 1]
I hate it when a guy doesn't get the door
Even though I told him yesterday and the day before
I hate it when a guy doesn't get the tab
And I have to pull my money out and that looks bad, yeah

Now Verse 2 is where Avril starts to get awkward and quite disturbing. Does this really need an explanation? She is talking about being on her period for fucks sake.

[Verse 2]
I hate it when a guy doesn't understand
Why a certain time of month I don't wanna hold his hand (uh-uh)

Now the bridge sung in a cheer the way cheerleaders performs their cheers and chants at pep rallies & sporting events. Now this is where the song becomes even more cheery. Oh joy.

[Bridge]
Give me an A (always give me what I want)
Give me a V (be very, very good to me)
R (are you gonna treat me right?)
I (I can put up a fight)
Give me an L (let me hear you scream loud)
(Let me hear you scream loud)
One, two, three, four!
You won’t get rid of her never.

Where are the hopes? Where are the dreams? Her Cinderella story scene? You’re not gonna get any better. You will never get rid of Avril ever.

Atom Smith - Comin’ Up Swinging single review

The single Atom Smith - Comin’ Up Swinging is a swinging jazz single which uses a mixture of big band jazz and swing music. A combination of electro swing.

Comin’ Up Swinging uses a mixture of big band jazz and swing music. But just remember this one thing. If you push me around or try and knock me down, I'm comin' up swinging.

When you're the talk of the town and everyone gathers around to hear what you have to say, you better say it loud. Then everyone disagrees refuse to see how you see. It always talking and talking about it until your ears bleed. Most people forget to be the change that they wish to see. They just don't know how to ask for what they really need.

But when my friend are in need or even my enemies. I'll see them through if I can. But I'll say what I please. And you can comе to my house and sit on my couch. But just remember this one thing. If you are pushin' me around or try and knock me down, I'm comin' up swinging.

Most people don't seem to see how dangerous it can be to want to act violently when they just disagree. Whatever you might believe, we’re basically 6 degrees from where we all want to be. We eat, drink, and sing.

Stickup Kid is a story about the 2 Six Shooters including Atom Smith and DJ Fresh. The story takes place in the Wild West and revolves around 2 Six Shooters and the DJ Fresh.

Everything got kinda blind sided when it all started. The law done had enough of the rich tryna rob the poor. Atom Smith done had enough of the rich tryna rob the poor also. So Atom walked in the spot with not a plan or a thought. It was word and he heard his share.

They didn't want to pay so he said, "This is a stickup, everybody get face down! Left me no choice, everybody on the ground! I don't want the whole stack nah I ain't taking your money I just want mine back, yeah!" So they put it in the sack.

It's when he turned to leave that the guard let his son crack. It was self defense. Now Atom Smith is on the road with a price on his head.

A thousand yard stare caught his glare so he is headin' right toward that. He pulls up smoothly at a new saloon takin' whiskey shots, Then Atom heard a whistling tune. But this gutless dude tried to make his move. Then the last man standing need a damn thing changing. 2 Six shooters and DJ Fresh wander the West.

Atom Smith - Bass Age Big Band album review

Atom Smith - Bass Age Big Band is an album which focuses on electro swing and that jazzy big band sound. Comin’ Up Swinging and Stickup Kid are the highlights of this album. This was one of the lesser known electro swing albums of 2020. California produces some swinging jazz electro swing music.

Comin’ Up Swinging uses a mixture of big band jazz and swing music. But just remember this one thing. If you push me around or try and knock me down, I'm comin' up swinging.

11 Acorn Lane - Swing Thing album review

11 Acorn Lane - Swing Thing is one of the lesser known electro swing albums of 2010 with vintage swing jazz instrumentation and sounds. A big band is used to perform the instrumentation.

Happy As Can Be about how a person can be as happy as they can be. The theme of this song revolves around happiness of course. I'm happy as can be So happy being me. Everything is going my way. So listen to what I say. I'm happy as I can be. The sun is shining in the sky. Take my hand and walk with me. There's so much beauty here to see. The beauty here is so shining and inviting. All the world is one big smile.

Comin’ Home Baby is an upbeat romantic themed electro swing song with superb jazzy sounds with big band style production. The song is a love song obviously.

Live It Up is about living it up and being present in the present moment. Come on, people! It's time to live it up! The song tells us to live it up through the good times and bad times. Come on people, let's live it up together now.

Le Sexe Au Telephone (Do Me Do Mix) is a French themed electro swing song about telephone sex (phone sex). Most of the song is performed in the French language. The song has a provocative sexual romantic theme and setting.

Lines to this song are performed randomly in the languages of French and English. For example, examine these lyrics.

Et j'aime bien ton parfum
Mais pour te dire la vérité
What really turns me on
Is what you say

This lady loves telephone sex. This lady tells a man she wants to be alone with him. She tells him, “Moi j'aime bien le sexe au téléphone.” Which is French for Moi j'aime bien le sexe au téléphone. Then she tells him, “I want to be alone with you. I imagine you’re neglected.” She thinks about it everyday.

She proceeds to tell him, “And what drives me crazy are not your kisses. I want to hear you say, "Do me."” The man tells the lady her perfume is not only what really turns him on. What she says really turns him on. He tells her, “And I like your perfume a lot. But to tell you the truth, what really turns me on is what you say. Do me.”

Then the lady tells the man in a heartbreaking manner her passion only exists in a telephone call over a landline. She tells him, “My passion only exists in a phone call. Goodbye, my darling. Goodbye my thrill.”
