Shaggy - Intoxication album review

Shaggy - Intoxication is an intoxicating reggae dancehall album with rhythmic songs that will make you want to dance. The album showcased the more mature side of Shaggy than just mostly the partying carefree side of Shaggy with songs such as Woman Scorn and Church Heathen. Quite impressive for a reggae album from 2007. Sadly the album did not achieve the same amount of success as his previous albums Hot Shot and Lucky Day did. Many people had slept on this album.


Church Heathen showcased the more spiritual religious side of Shaggy which also at the same time showcased his mature side. Several references of his ties to the religion of Christianity are made. Shaggy calls out church goers for their quasi-Christian ways. The song is quite dark and meaningful for a reggae song. Those harmonious bells hit hard along with the sultry vocals.

Shaggy calls out people such as religious figures and leaders in the church for being hypocrites who feel like their sins do not matter just because they go to church. They believe that their sins don’t need forgiving just because they go to church.

Sister Pam tells Shaggy all the gossip that has been going on in church. Sister Pam shares some gossip with Shaggy about Sister Paulette’s gay husband. Sister Pam explains to Shaggy that Sister Paulette cheats on her husband with a mini bus driver. Sister Pam shares more gossip with Shaggy about a church deacon who takes the money from collection to spend on himself instead of fixing up the church.

At church he sits next to Sister Pam who him all the gossip Sister Pam starts off by telling Shaggy about who’s husband is gay but she cheats on him with a mini bus driver. Sister Pam then moves on to Sister Gwen who claims she likes to preach the word of God but was wining up at a stone love party. Sister Pam still has more gossip for Shaggy as she tells him about a church deacon who takes the money from collection to spend on himself instead of fixing up the church.


Shaggy changed up the style of his music on the song called Reggae Vibes. Shaggy used a more dancehall style of reggae than the usual raggamuffin style. This is the Shaggy style of reggae.

Body a Shake is your typical dancehall reggae song which is about dancing, romance, and having a good time. The usual subject matter found in reggae songs. This is no exception given that Body a Shake is a Shaggy song.

Sean Paul - Dutty Rock was one of the best reggae dancehall albums of 2002. The album is what gave Sean Paul a spot in the international spotlight spanning from 2002 to 2005 thanks to songs such as Get Busy, Like Glue, I’m Still In Love With You, and Baby Boy. 2002 was one of the best years for music.


Gimme the Light is one of those upbeat uptempo reggae songs driven by a single guitar and bass line over catchy beats. This was one of the best reggae songs of 2002.

Sean Paul - The Trinity was one of the best reggae dancehalls album of 2002. The album is what got reestablished Sean Paul in the international spotlight back in 2005 thanks to songs such as Ever Blazin’, Yardie Bone,, and. 2005 was one of the best years for music.


Give It Up to Me explains the late night escapade on how Sean Paul attempts to lure a woman into bed with him.

Sean Paul tells the woman he is after, “Get out my head and into the bed, girl.” She doesn’t know he is plotting out the fantasy for tonight.

Sean Paul can see she clearly wants him from the way she look in his eye. He can see she clearly wants him from the look in her eye. Because her body is enticing and it’s making him horny. Shaggy - Boombastic was one of the best reggae albums of 1996. The album had hot hotstepping reggae dancehall classics such as Mr. Boombastic, In The Summertime, and Gal Yu A Pepper. These were the songs that helped make the Boombastic album a platinum classic.


In the Summertime is about what Shaggy and Rayon do in the summer time. It's a summertime affair with sun and fun in the atmosphere.

In the summertime when the weather is high, you can stretch right up and touch the sky. When the weather is fine, you've got women on your mind. Raggamuffin Shaggy with a musical swing. Shaggy and Rayvon are the ultimate pair that made this reggae song brehsive. The world needs to beware because it's a brand new selection for your musical ear.

Rayon is gonna drive and ride. And see what he can find. Now if her daddy's rich, then Rayon will take her out for a meal. And if her daddy's poor, then he will do as he feels. Shaggy decided to doing something different for a change in terms of musical style and sound with his song Something Different. While the driver put on some reggae music, the money jingling gets the finger smith frantic. A person goes into their pocket to take out their wallet to pay the bus fair. Only to find out their wallet had been stolen by a finger smith.


Heartbreak Suzie is about a woman named Suzie who broke Shaggy’s heart by playing with his emotions and breaking up with him. This is what you call a dancehall romance.

Wasn't it Suzie who left Shaggy alone? Wasn't it Suzie who called Shaggy on the phone? Wasn't it Suzie who wrecked Shaggy’s home? Wasn't it Suzie who wanted to live her life alone? She must be crazy to still want to be his lady. Suzie said she wanted to break up with Shaggy. Their love was fake. Her love was fake. There was a mistake made.

Shaggy reminisces about the time they had each other. And how much days and nights they spent upon that lonely cruise. Suzie was the only one for Shaggy. But Suzie still left anyway and suddenly Shaggy had the blues. Now here's the pass and no one else could ever fill her shoes or take her place.

Nothing in this world could extinguish his flames.  Suzie is the only one he wanted to bare his name. All of a sudden Shaggy notices Suzie was playing mind games. Giving him a migraine and so much emotional pain. Suzie was the one and no one else could make that claim. It's a shame to see the relationship down the drain. Now she wants to get back together and it won't be the same. Her aim is to cause Shaggy more pain. That is her true intention.


Woman a Pressure Me is about woman who pressures Shaggy into getting married for her own selfish desires and benefits. Shaggy is reluctant about getting married because he is unsure about if he wants to be married or not.

This girl named Beverly tells Shaggy it's about time she gets the ring on her finger. Talking about that sake and that she leaves a man lingering. Shaggy tells her no and to go to the altar. Shaggy is not looking for marriage at this point in his life. A man don't want a marriage if he knows it is not good. However Shaggy is reluctant and doesn't know if he should.

Beverly is a looking good gal. She is sweet and tender. Shaggy has known Beverly for a very long time. But she pressures him too much about getting married. She left Shaggy lingering about marriage.

Shaggy loves Beverly very much now. Everyday Beverly keeps talking about how she wants the ring on her finger. Shaggy promised her about getting her the ring. So she set the wedding date for December. Beverly invited her friends and all her family members to the wedding. Shaggy really couldn't see himself a step up to the altar.

Shaggy wants to settle the score before he goes on tour. But she wouldn't even let him through the front door. Night after night he sleeps on the floor. Well now he tries to hit the kitten and she said, "No more.". Shaggy tells Beverly, “True me love me sweetie pie I can't take it no more.” Anyhow she got the ring and you know Shaggy’s life gone now for sure.

Before you tie the knot well everything looks sweet. When you say "I do" you probably think it's a dream. All at a sudden it's like the beauty turn in the beast. Now she washes, cooks, cleans and keeps the house sparkling clean. Beverly keeps her body in a young fresh at 25 years old. A man doesn't want a marriage if he knows it is not good.


Gal Yu a Pepper was the steaming hot sizzling hotstepping reggae dancehall song of 1996 that all them hotsteppers enjoyed on the dance floor. The song is a girl who is hot as a pepper. A sizzling hot pepper.

Sadly this song was only a minor hit and did not receive as much promotion as the other songs on the album did. The song should have received a music video and become a single as well. But at least the song had a buzz underground and on radio stations in Jamaica and across the Caribbean.  

The girl Shaggy is after is a hot stepper. You know they say that girl there is the original stepper. Hot like a scotch bonnet pepper. She’s a hot pepper. Shaggy tells her, “Gal, yu a pepper. A gal can't skate your fence and try cross your border.” She is a dance hall stepper. Her body has men ready to bawl out. Her love alone is what men desire. She looks good indeed.

Shaggy - Summer in Kingston is one of the lesser known Shaggy albums that is just as good as Boombastic, Hot Shot, and Intoxication. The album has that same reggae dancehall flavor as his other albums do. Now the album does have provocative songs that are explicit such as Fired Up (Fuck The Recession).


Sugarcane is about a lady who wants a simple life as she is tired of that city life. She knows she’s gotta run away with Shaggy to the islands. She wants to settle down and be Shaggy’s wife.

This lady that is dating Shaggy said she's tired of the city life. She says she wants a simple life. She wants to settle down and be Shaggy’s wife. She knows she’s gotta run away with Shaggy to the islands. So Shaggy introduces her to the island life. She says that she likes everything about the island life. They bought some fruits from the fruit stand, roots from the roots man and coconut water well from the jelly man. She had a piece of his sugarcane. From then she hasn't been the same, man.

She says there are no bright lights and no fame. Not even Caviar or champagne.It ain't hard to explain. She just wanna be a plain old Jane. Oh how this girl rocks Shaggy brain. She likes the taste of his sugar cane. She loves the ackee and the salt fish. Yam from the market. Sweet cocoa tea and some real hot chocolate. But when she tasted his sugar cane, she hasn't been the same since then.


Fired Up (Fuck The Recession) is a Reggaeton fueled reggae song poking fun at the 2008 savings and loans crisis which caused a recession worldwide. The song serves as a “fuck you” to the 2008 recession and 2011 recession.

Shaggy has only got one life that he will live it up. He wants the best shit. That’s why he is stacking shit. That’s why he fired up. Fuck the recession. Shaggy is spending money anyway. He wants you know to know that he is stacking Benjamins. He is in the spending mood. In other words, he is in the mood for spending money. Just meet him at the bar. Hot drinks are on him. Everyone around can do some shopping. Let's go. They say money is the root of all evil, but that's why in God we trust.


Just Another Girl is similar to Heartbreak Suzie as the song is about a woman who broke Shaggy’s heart by playing with his emotions and breaking up with him. This is what you call a dancehall romance.

Straight from the start, this woman Shaggy had been dating had been playing with his emotions and breaking his heart. He can't believe she break his heart right away as a grown woman. She had his love on lock. She had their love on lock.

Shaggy thought he might get used to that. She made him want to tie the knot. Shaggy really thought she had his back. She shared his love in every way even with the dangerous the games they played. He knew that she were trouble as he seen it coming from a mile away. Even then he tried to stay with her. He can't believe the price he paid. Now they’re forced to go their separate ways. Nothing lasts forever. It’s just for a while temporarily. Who'd thought that they’d be both be living a lie? She is just another girl. That's what she is. So nice but not so smart.

There is nothing left to say since she left. That’s why it’s difficult to speak on it. Find it hard to out the flames. How can Shaggy relive the pain? Shaggy felt like he’s the one to blame. Trying not to go insane. He really thought the love was strong. He thought that they could do no wrong. Shaggy doesn't know when it all begun. Her aim is to cause Shaggy more pain. That is her true intention.

Shaggy gets in touch with his rhythmic reggae roots on his 2019 album Wah Gwaan?! The album uses a set of dub reggae with roots reggae and dancehall. That is evident on songs such as Caribbean Way, Supernatural, and When She Loves Me.


Shaggy shows everyone how reggae is done in Jamaica on his song called the Caribbean Way. This is Caribbean style reggae blended in with dub reggae. This is the Caribbean way of partying.

Sexy gals are dressed to impress. Nothing less as none of them waste time. They dance to the basslines of basslines of dub reggae around the clock played by the DJ. That’s how they bubble up. It's the way they party from night straight back to day time. You should know that’s how they lime This is the Caribbean way of partying. So get used the Caribbean way.


Supernatural is a dub romance song with dancehall superstars Shaggy, Stacy Barthe, and Shenseea. The song uses a huge to of dub reggae with heavy basslines and minimal beats.

That thing is supernatural. Shaggy doesn't know but he’s feeling it. He is feeling an An out-of-body experience while experiencing and having sexual intercourse. The sex is tremendous.
