Pokey LaFarge - In the Blossom of Their Shade album review

Pokey LaFarge - In the Blossom of Their Shade showcased the recalibrated and sedated side of Pokey LaFarge. His grabbing melodies and swinging tunes are what is needed to rejuvenate a post-COVID pandemic society. This album showed the more subtle side of country swing legend Pokey LaFarge. Ironically COVID pandemic actually created the much-needed space for him to reflect on his life because he was in a dark place.

Pokey laments and reminisces over the girls he has loved in his life on Drink of You. He spends his time drinking at bars feeling sorry for himself.

All of the girls Pokey has loved before have changed their locks and closed the door. There's always something to drink about when he drinks of them. The lonely night feels right with haunting memories. There's only desperate company the drunken moon keeps. All of his friends are married with children. All he has is this time he is killing.

It's easy for Pokey to love her when she is gone. But when she is here everything feels wrong. That's why he drinks of her. It's easy for Pokey to love them when they’re gone. But when they’re here everything feels wrong. There's always something to drink about when he drinks of them. That's why he drinks of them. There's always something to drink about.

The night owl threw in the towel and fell down from his tree. A murder of crows was waiting below to sing in harmony.

Rotterdam is a song of his which explained why he longed to leave for The Netherlands. The reason he wants to leave his home country of the United States is because he sees things getting worse each day in the United States. With all the mass shootings, political corruption, and removal of abortion rights. He plans to watch his former home country of the United States burn while he is living in The Netherlands.

Ruin comes to beauty almost inevitably. And now this Pokey sees this right here at home now. Things get worse each day in the United States. With all the mass shootings, political corruption, protests, insurrection, and removal of abortion rights.

He hopes it’s not too late to pack his things and move from the United States. But where he wants to be is not where you’d expect. They have a place for him down on Nieuwe Binnenweg. He longs for The Netherlands. He wants to go back to Rotterdam, Netherlands. He never felt like a stranger in The Netherlands. He has never felt in danger in The Netherlands. Ever since he had moved to The Netherlands, he has only felt at peace.

Back home some have to fight just to survive. Why do they have to die instead of living free? Pokey knows someday the world will come to an end. And he’s going to watch it burn from in another land.

Smokey Joe & The Kid - Take Control album review

Smokey Joe & The Kid - Take Control uses a mixture of reggae, electro swing, rap, and hip hop in one song. You can hear the tinge of reggae in their vocals on songs such as Mister Nice Guy and One Life Saved. Jazzy, snazzy, and upbeat. That is how this album is entirely different from all of their other albums.

Mister Nice Guy is clearly a nice guy that might be quick to hit that switch. But only he needs to. So let me know it if you're ready for the madness. That is what the song Mister Nice Guy is about. Mister Nice Guy uses a mixture of reggae, electro swing, rap, and hip hop in one song. You can hear the tinge of reggae in their vocals.

Ladies and gentlemen. Boys and girls. Bitches and bitchettes from around the world. Here is Smokey Joe & The Kid. They wanna to introduce you to the most angriest man in the world. And his name is Mister Nice Guy.

There is a savage on attack. He travels on ground like a camel with a saddle on his back and he sounds like some rabid type of animal on tracks. Cameras wanna flash to capture when he channels what you lack. Mid-demolition is a comfort-zone.

In Dubai turning the world's tallest buildings into bungalows. Candy-arse suckers know who's had the bars under-toe. Attacking mother lovers like an angry Mark Ruffalo. Walking atom blast avalanching on the ones below.

You and your army have to march or your cover's blown. Your team freeze like they struck a pose. While The Kid generates the type of heat to make it seem as if summer's cold. They all wonder though, “How this guy be tamed?” Quite insane with a menacing type of frame. If fire blazed he ignited the flame. That's why his brain might be blamed for climate change.

But Mister Nice Guy is a nice guy really. And even if you don't wanna believe that shit. It's still a pleasure for him to meet you.

You can see that Mister Nice Guy is clearly a nice guy that might be quick to hit that switch. But only he needs to. So let me know it if you're ready for the madness.

He was given the prescription but never got the tablets. He meant to take the medication but he couldn't get it from the cabinet. Now he is a grizzly bear with a message for you campers. He’ll leave you stranded, pop your tyres (tires), and then start a damn forest fire. Hot wiring to get in a lane. Never again to be got in so remember the name.

Medics are saying that he is bonkers. To hell with their claims. Mister Nice Guy walks the thin line between pleasure and pain leaving cracks in concrete every step of the way. En route from the mental asylum is what Mister Nice Guy wants.

Take Control is about finding your piece of mind and not letting people take your soul from you.  All you want is a piece of mind. All everyone wants is a piece of mind. The message to the song is never feel that your future's wasted because you control your destiny.

All you want is a piece of mind. We all need to find that piece of mind in that happy place Because people, including you, work all day and sleep all night. There is no time for yourself to feel alright. Or time to part from darkness to see more light.

You got your manager harassing you to be on time while looking in the mirror like this can't be your life. Your life is on repeat like a really bad TV show we know they should do away with. But in reach is your destiny like a remote control. So you can change it. Never feel that your future's wasted because you control your destiny. Never feel that your future's wasted when you deal with pursuing greatness or if your soul is a damsel in distress don't stress because you can save it.

You want to (and everyone wants to) ease the pain for a piece of mind. To reach that place you seek to find. Read the signs and redefine on your way. Don't let them take from your soul. That means you're taking control. Never feel that your future's wasted.

Don't let anybody take it from you. Stay strong even when they wrong you. When you work to a goal, know the worth of your soul. If you don't then, mate, it's on you. Know your value and never forget. Stay sharp on your path to whatever is next. Get their respect when they measure you depth. From every breath in your chest, never settling for anything less.

Let the negative get in line so your precious time is never wasted. If it's meant to be destiny, fine then enter your prime and just embrace it. Never feel that your future's wasted.

Here is the Pastor offering's sermon.

Ladies & gentlemen, we are gathered here this evening. On this fine evening to pay homage to you know what. The soul mutha luvaz. That's right.

Ya'll better understand. And recognize and realize that anywhere you go around this world, if you ain't got no soul in you, then you ain't no gold in you. That's right, mutha luvaz. When you wake up in the morning, you better understand. The only thing you have is your soul. When you brush your teeth in the morning, that's right. Who does it for you? Your soul. That's right.

I go by the name of Pastor Offerings and I'd like to tell ya'll mutha luvaz that. You need to find. Redefine that to ease the pain that's right. You better say it loud. Say it loud and proud.

Fumando Jose y El Nino explains the the legend of Fumando José and El Níno. The pair are heroes in the Wild West. Fumando Jose y El Nino is Spanish for Smokey Joe & The Kid. This electro swing song has that Spanish style and sound along with that Latin flavor. This is sort of a Spanish electro swing song.

Outlaws are out to win after wrangling. Saddling up their stallions to start galloping. Fumando Jose y El Nino (Fumando José and El Níno/Smokey Joe & The Kid) dare another challenge with them outlaws. They'll swear to come and handle them.

Fumando Jose y El Nino will round them all up as if they are bringing all the cattle in The winds brought a band of them who came to tell people the legend of Fumando José and El Níno.

Tell them everywhere. Better get prepared 'cause when they hear the click, that means they want your hands in the air now. Click, click. Everywhere keep them there now. They want to see them all air bound. Stick your hands in the air. You don't have to be scared of what's happening in here. Just aware what you're carrying has to be shared now.

Bandoleros (bandits) are out for more than just to stack dinero (money). These bandoleros are pack of weirdos who disguised as a gang of heroes. Racketeering yet attracting earholes. Whenever static's been pushed up to ten, they'll pull it back to zero.

From sun-up, a bunch of friendly musicians. But moonshine's the light on the truth when all the loot's missing. Tamed bronco's pulled dames from their honchos and made a lot go to sing out in the rain in their ponchos. That's why your so called town sheriff will frown and become extremely jealous of these loud fellas in your town who sound hellish.

They'll raid out your cellars without a premise. In and out your premises but still leave the crowd a message. To never trust a man if a wheel on his wagon's loose and always chase rattlesnake venom down with cactus juice.

They will keep them mesmerized until it's time to bounce. All singing to the rhythms known to hypnotize the crowd who've been misguided in direction. But now they learn about the truth which lies in their possessions.

The narrow minds soon open to the tiniest suggestions. All because of these guys smiling in their stetsons who seem wilder than a Western movie. Others try it but there's none that seem to know why. The only thing they're moving is the tumbleweed that rolls by.

It's gonna be a showdown until it's a ghost town. And you better keep them there or else. Word to the spurs and the leather boot shell-toes. Putting in the work to make you learn though. So let the world know about the legend that'll live forever.

A gang of bandits that had the masses clambering together through every place that they went and never paying the rent. But this gang of bandits always paid some attention by every lady and gentleman.

At major events, they'd hear the news of wise goons. Mainly known for taking over your saloon at high-noon who were sticking up the towns and hit them with a couple rounds. Always aiming for the sole to have them kicking up the ground until the dust is settled Some will never touch the levels. It’s quite clear they'll have you scrapping ideas quick as rusty metal. Tell your trusty steed, better up it's speed, giddy up indeed. Plus you'll need to take a bunch of heed.

Jay Munly - Galvanized Yankee album review

Jay Munly - Galvanized Yankee is a mixture of gothic country and indie folk. The album captures the true essence and spirit of Americana folk too. The banjo propelled songs give the album a live sound.

Pretty Saro explained the story of man named who came to the United States in 1849 and saw many lovers but never saw his lover that he could find himself. He left his lover Saro behind in his home country.

This man who was a poor soldier came to this country called the United States in 1849 when he emigrated from his home country. He saw many lovers but never saw a lover that he could find himself. He saw that he was alone. He was a poor soldier far from his home country.

It's not the long journey that he dreading to go or leaving his home country for the debts he owes. There's nothing that pleases him nor troubles his mind but leaving his darling pretty Saro behind.

He wishes he were a poet that way he could write a fine hand and write his love a letter she might understand. Send it by the waters where the island overflows and think of pretty Saro wherever he may go. He is going to ramble this country all through. When he gets broken he’ll sit down and cry. He’ll think of pretty Saro with tears in his eyes.

Marching Along  gave a lengthy summary about a young man explaining all the reasons he feels it is his duty to enlist in the Taliban and become a Jihadist urging the listener to do the same.

The army is gathering from near and from far. The trumpet is sounding. The call for the war. Allah is our leader. He's gallant and strong. We'll get on our armor and be marching along. The poor is before us. The battle awaits. Let us not waver.

The thought of us strengthens. It unites us all with courage and faith. We are marching along. Good on Allah. For God and for our country we are marching along.

Tape Five - Swingfood Mood album review

Tape Five - Swingfood Mood is one swinging jazz album that is perfect enough to dance to. If you like Electric Swing Circus, Swingrowers, Swing Republic, Caro Emerald, and Atom Smith, then this album is suited for you. The album has a retro lounge vibe.  Tape Five always comes in swinging with these beautiful jazz masterpieces.

Mr. White Suit! is about the biography of a man who was a player who was born again in the year of 1924. The song uses a bit of skiffle.

Mr. White Suit was born again in 1924. A calypso band was playin' on the shore behind the bars in the streets of this famous town where he died that year.

There were Desperados, dancin' bonitas, and sweet senoritas drinkin' mochitos. One day he wants leave to go to Portofino, Italy.  But until that beautiful day he’ll do the cha-cha-cha, here at Rico's Bar. And even merengue down at Tony’s Cafe. He watches the sweet petitas, and the squeaky senoritas. One thing that is noticeable about him is he wears that white suit. He never felt that good.

Each time he is in the mood he looks at the sea. The ships are rolling in. No ship is leaving with him. He could not escape the noise and the lights of this town. And after all he was going down. Maybe he will leave to go to San Fernando, California.

Avenue Du Gare is about a lady looking for adventure and a drinking companion to drink with.

This lady has been looking for adventure from Stockholm, Sweden to the riviera. She has been looking around for something new to try. That is why she socializes during night time. She is looking for a man who is out at night time while living like a playboy. All she needs to hear is one word to get her high. Do you like what you see?

This gentleman she spots has got her walking on air. She needs his company. Someone to drink cocktails Istanbul, Turkey to Amsterdam, Netherlands. E-mails, naughty pictures, or a telegram will satisfy her day and her needs. Somedays she is taking everything she can. Hot shot, Aeroflot or Cabriole. Any means of transportation that are available to her.

She was looking for adventure but she couldn't keep it all together. Now she can hardly find food to eat, old clothes, cigarettes and alcohol. She had big dreams but then she had to lose control. One day you'll see her back upon her feet.

Tango For A Spy! is about a spy having a sweet tango. A bit of rhumba music thrown into the mix thus giving away a  tropical sound and vibe.

A spy is going out for a secret rendezvous. I ain't got no clue as to where the spying going for a secret rendezvous because the spy didn't leave no trace today. The spy is probably going down to Fernandos Hideaway. Tango for a spy! I say.

Munly & the Lee Lewis Harlots album review

Munly & the Lee Lewis Harlots is a dark gothic country album with unique extensive storytelling and songwriting based on fictional accounts and folklore. Jay Munly has a knack for songwriting which he has been doing for years due to his unique skills and abilities. A bit of chamber folk was thrown into the production. And a bit of freak folk too. The sound and style are similar to music you would hear from Tom Waits. A handful of religious songs can be heard on this album also.

Big Black Bull Comes Like a Caesar told the story of how Jay’s younger brother was given an animal to raise by his parents. Jay’s younger brother was given a bull to raise by his parents.

When Jay’s younger brother was a child he was given an animal. He raised it up to be a big black bull. It never did low or pitch or sway. It never rode on the back of a flatbed. The bull looked like one of them Great Caesars. And then they go to the McCintyres. The McCintyres got a pen with a she-cow. That she-cow saw his chariot arriving. She gave the bull her big soft cowy eyes and then she started talkin' to him. And she was talkin' dirty. Lord she was dirty.

Then the big black bull fell down hard off the flatbed. The bull forced himself inside the pen with the she-cow and stood up tall on two legs like a man does. That swoll the bull up hard. Jay stood up tall on the flatbed. He pitched when he saw them sway. And when that bull came back down to four legs, his younger brother forced himself on Jay in the flatbed. The younger brother handed Jay his brand new blade, He said, "Scratch out the word on the wood of the flatbed." And so he did.

Old Service Road explained the story of how Jay got abducted by a government worker and got left in the middle of nowhere. A bit of stochastism was used in the song.

A male government worker shoved Jay inside his government truck. He drove a country mile outside of town and said, “Get out, boy” And that's what he did. Jay walked over to that sign which read the “Old Service Road”. This man had his window up tight shut when Jay asked "Hey, mister. Where does it go?" He mouthed, “You don't want to know. Go down now to the Old Service Road."

He left Jay with a tire iron, instructions, and a list of names. And Jay was left to guard that road. In that service he did remain. He stuck the list to the back-side of the sign because that list held the name of his brother.

Jay used the tire iron as a baseball bat. And when the rocks hit the sign it made the sound of forever. Jay thought to re-arrange the list to knock them letters round. But the front still read the “Old Service Road” and on the backside his brother's name was still found on the list there.

A hand-built two-seater come down the service road. The driver was a mixed skin of Mexican descent. The driver avoided Jay. He opened the window shyly.

He tapped his tire iron against his metal car. Then he went giddy at the sound of forever. A dog leaped out the window unshyly. Jay applied the traits of his brother to the dog. It slunk on over to the sign. Let loose and made the sign its own. He scanned the list for some sign of a dog. But there was now only his brother's name alone. Jay scratched off his name and said to goodbye Argos. The dog went down the Old Service Road. The Mexican said shyly out the window, "¿Dónde my perro?"

Of Silas Fauntleroys Willingness To Impress The Panel told the narrative of how Silas Fauntleroy attempts of his willingness to impress the panel. One of the fashion oriented chamber folk songs on the album and in chamber folk music in general.

Jay’s wife opened up her mouth and hands her teeth to him. She tells Jay not to return until he gets her teeth fresh and clean. Remember me to Silas filled her dance card tonight.

Jay walks down center street not on the left hand side but the right hand and sees Silas Fauntleroy all gussied up. Silas Fauntleroy was gussied up in a Fauntleroy of bright white. He flashed his red wet smile and says Jay is just the man he needs. Silas took Jay’s tin of tailor mades. Then he smiled leaving one for Jay. As he pats Jay down for a light, he say they don't look none too clean.

Silas asks Jay what he has in his hands. Jay tells Silas that all he has in his hands are his wife's old teeth. Silas says that he will use his tailor made Fauntleroy (tailor mades) for the judge as a bribe and to impress the panel.

Jay walked into Dr. Hammers shop told him of the big dance contest tonight and said he didn't want his wife to be disgraced with her old second hand me down teeth. Dr. Hammer says he sure knew how to surly influence the panel. He grabbed Jay’s wife's teeth from him and shoved his fist in this can as he danced his hand around inside. Dr. Hammer said he saw Jay speaking with Silas Fauntleroy outside. He could only purse his lips tight. Then Dr. Hammer asks if Silas has got anything offer him. Jay could only put his now empty hand over his pursin' lips. Then Dr. Hammer withdraws his hand and says those teeth are clean but they'll taste like gasoline. Dr. Hammer asks him if he has got a light.

Silas liked the look of Jay’s wife's teeth and said he needs to get him some of them. As Silas reached for his wife's teeth, Dr. Hammer blew his Chevy on by in this tinderbox town and then brusquely found the only mud puddle dirtied up the Fauntleroy suit Silas Fauntleroy was wearing.

Silas cried about how he never would win the dance if he go there looking unclean. Jay stripped Silas of his Fauntleroy suit and dunk it in the gasoline. Jay return with his Fauntleroy suit. Silas asks about the matches. Jay says he’ll leave them with his wife. Then Jay proceeds to tell Silas, “So have a blast tonight.”

Amen Corner is one of the more darker religion oriented chamber folk songs on the album with a religious vibe. The song retains that dark chamber folk music sound. The female vocals and choir in the background sounds similar to an oratorio. The song was about the atrocious sins the Christian religious figure St. Timothy had committed. The song discussed how his midwives delivered him.

It's glorious today. So you know it will pass away soon as time progresses forward in a quick manner.
The doves and snapping turtles bite at Jay. Don't bump against them tender wounds. This petunia land smells of St. Timothy. Catatonic ash.

He has read the maps of the Patron Saint of Haggard. Arm the minds of midwives who deliver thee. His hands are not enough. So he will swing a hammer. Amen Corner's where they'll gather and meet.

On Amen Corner is where they gather. All them midwives who delivered him. Their looks are unwashed, ashamed, and haggard seeing his hand empty of offerings. They took Jay’s rolled map and ripped his map to tatters. Then they turned their backs and they commenced to sing. He strokes his dark dove and pats his turtle but their response is as cold as charity.

Snapping turtles hide whilst scraping  their teeth against their hide. Doves stumble around turned dark from St. Timothy. The midwives turn to saints swinging what's delivered. On Amen Corner the haggard hammer sings.

His snapping turtle still be snapping. His dark dove can only bark at him. He pull his dark dove down and rips it to tatters. He glues the feathers to his turtle's covering. He will swing it with his soft-hard hammer. This is his offering to his midwives. On Amen Corner, he’ll be delivered. His soft-hard hammer will sing as it swings.

These were the lyrics to Amen Corner.

It's glorious today so you know it will pass away
The doves and snapping turtles bite at me
Catatonic ash, don't bump against them tender wounds
This petunia land smells of timothy

I have read the maps of the Patron Saint of Haggard
Arm the minds of midwives who deliver thee
My hands are not enough; I will swing a hammer
Amen Corner's where they'll gather and meet

On Amen Corner is where they gather
All them midwives who delivered me
Their looks are unwashed, ashamed, and haggard
Seeing my hand empty of offerings
They took my rolled map, ripped it to tatters
Turned their backs, and they commenced to sing
I stroke my dark dove, I pat my turtle
But their response is as cold as charity

Snapping turtles hide, Scrape their teeth against their hide
Doves stumble 'round turned dark from timothy
The midwives turn to saints swinging what's delivered
On Amen Corner the haggard hammer sings

My snapping turtle it still be snapping
My dark dove can only bark at me
I pull his dark down, rip it to tatters
Glue the feathers to my turtle's covering

I will swing it, my soft-hard hammer
To my midwives this is my offering
On Amen Corner, I'll be delivered
My soft-hard hammer will sing as it swings

Francisco Guerrero - Complete Orchestral Works album review

Francisco Guerrero - Complete Orchestral Works has some of the most bone-chilling words of orchestral stochastic music known in the history of classical music. The intensity of his work and opacity are the beauties of this album. The work on this album can be described as exhilarating and exciting. An iconic sort of art. No sonorism was used at all.

Miki Yui - Small Sounds album review

Miki Yui - Small Sounds is a microsound album filled with an interesting touch of totalism. The album uses what you would call satisfying and eerie instrumental electronic music that is distinctive and very hard to hear. The low volume makes the instrumental electronic music and production faint. The album is what you would call a satisfying ASMR album. Japanese electronic music can’t possibly get anymore interesting than this of course.

Morton Feldman - Durations I-V; Coptic Light album review

Morton Feldman - Durations I-V; Coptic Light is a very austere warm sounding classical music album with sparse minimalistic sounds. This is one creepy spooky symphonic album. Calling the album “spooky” and “symphonic” is an understatement though.

Slow is a creepy warm but very austere classical music with a riveting horn section with an eerie piano backing. You always get that feeling someone’s watching you and chills down your spine whenever you listen to this song. The chilling effects of this song can persevere for minutes long. However the level of indeterminacy used can be questioned.

The quadruple layers of piano chords used on Fast is what makes everything sound so chilling and spooky. That is a fact that cannot be disputed. No oratorio was used.

Coptic Light is the most chilling, symphonic, and certainly most spooky song on the album. Calling the song “spooky” and “symphonic” is an understatement though. This song is highly favored among fans of classical music.

4hero - Two Pages album review

4hero - Two Pages is a mellow rhythmic broken beat jazzstep album with spiritual vibes that are poetic due to the way the lyrics are structured. The jazz fusion is simply remarkable and beautiful.

Golden age of life is a beautiful mellow rhythmic broken beat jazzstep song about the beauty of being a newborn infant. The age of infancy represents a new birth. Golden age of life. Children of the light. In the garden of your heart and mind. A newborn babies voice is crying. A new found love there's no denying. But the world will teach you hate. It's a place that leaves you filled with so much hate. In the mind a brand new stage. In the garden of your life here is your fate.

Star Chasers explains how life repeats itself when you find yourself something doing the same thing every day. Ever find yourself something doing the same thing? Walking the same old life. Looking back on yesterday and dreaming the same dreams. Wishing away the time. Then you answer your feelings and looked deep inside. You know there's got to be meaning. Or are we here for the ride?
