DOOZY - Heavy Sugar album review

Heavy Sugar by DOOZY similar to gypsy jazz from the Depression era with a dash of popular music from the Depression Era. The album has love songs filled with romance such as All I Really Saw, Street Of Dreams, Absinthe, and Same Old Song. The album is filled with an eccentric instrumental soundscape. Her fondness for the music of the 1920s really shows on this album.

Johnny's Come Out is about an introverted recluse named Johnny who has left his cave that is his man cave because he is getting ready to dance. The song discussed what the rare occasion was with Johnny coming outside.

Johnny has left his cave. He’s steppin’ out finally. He’s showered and used a comb. He’ll put on some pants and be ready to dance. As long as he gets to stay at home.Johnny’s come out, but not too far. Johnny’s come out to his backyard Life’s too short to stay inside. So Johnny’s come out tonight.

He’s so bold because he’s growin’ mold. He’s got cobwebs on his hinny. Johnny don’t usually leave his house. But Johnny’s coming out tonight. He’s dressed to kill and he’s feeling swell. He’ll venture out when there’s ice in hell. But fix him a drink and mix it well. And Johnny will come out tonight.

DOOZY tells how she likes her coffee and tells people not to mess with her coffee on the song called Don't Mess With Joe. Joe is not a person but rather a cup of coffee.

DOOZY goes to get a cuppa coffee which tastes like caramel and toffee. She don’t know why you want to mess around with her cuppa joe. She just wants a plain old cuppa java Black and hot as molten lava. There's no need to add a thing. Just bring it to her and she’ll go. Please pour it nice and slow.  Don’t take away her morning mud.

Stop messin’ with her joe. Her coffee don’t need frills and fluff. Please pour it nice and slow. She don’t want Café Americano or double mocha macchiato. Just cut her a little slack and pour it black.

702 - Star single review

702 - Star was one of 702’s most lit pop singles of 2003. The ladies of 702 sung out their hearts and killed it with their singing. Pharell Williams of The Neptunes produced the Star single with his futuristic polished electronic production. Breakdown of the beats are smooth and epic. Pharell was killing it with those signature thick beats of his. He was in his prime. Each song is worth playing and not skipping.

Star was the moderate hit 702 back in 2003. Pharell Williams of The Neptunes produced Star with his futuristic polished electronic production. Breakdown of the beats are smooth and epic. Honestly this song should have been a smash hit! It’s that good! Sadly this song remains very much overlooked to this day.

Star charted at #49 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Singles & Tracks Chart. In 2003, Star reached #3 on the charts for US R&B. Star also got nominated for a Soul Train Lady Of Soul Award for Best R&B/Soul Single - Group, Band or Duo.

I Still Love You is a love song which explains how everyone needs love and affection. Everybody needs someone by their side. Love is so simple. It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure that out. This should be known by the common person. Everybody needs a person for them to love and need. That is what this whole love song is all about.

I Still Love You was another 702 song which was produced by Pharell Williams of The Neptunes. Pharell was killing it with those signature thick beats of his. He was in his prime. The song I Still Love You was featured on the Malibu's Most Wanted soundtrack. The song I Still Love You samples DeBarge - I Like It.

702 warned ladies about the trouble a man can cause with the song Trouble. Trouble is that joint you’ll keep coming back to due to its rhythmic Latin acoustic guitar which gives off a vibe of peril and uncertainty. That rhythmic Latin acoustic guitar is what makes the song catchy and attracts people to keep on coming back to listen to this song. The song Trouble has a Latin music feel to it due to usage a single acoustic guitar. A single acoustic guitar resonates with the reverb echo. The beat is smooth.  Trouble contains excerpts from Kool & The Gang - Jungle Boogie.

702 warned ladies about the trouble a man can cause with these lyrics in Verse 2. “You don't know if he finds just what he'll do/So I'm telling you that there's a lot to lose/If he knew what we did, he'd act a fool/So let's be smart about this, baby”

[Verse 2]
You don't know if he finds just what he'll do
So I'm telling you that there's a lot to lose
If he knew what we did, he'd act a fool
So let's be smart about this, baby

Opera Chaotique - Muses of the Damned Artists album review

Muses of the Damned Artists by Opera Chaotique is a dionysian cabaret album embedded with dark cabaret and surreal paintings. The album includes a powerful dose of tragedy. Each song is based on famous people from previous generations such as Pablo Piccaso, Otto Dix, and Pierre-Auguste Renoir.

The song “Kiki de Montparnasse” is a song the duo dedicated to French legendary cabaret singer and muse of Man Ray, Kiki de Montparnasse.

Kiki de Montparnasse was a legendary cabaret singer and muse of Man Ray. She’s dancing in the streets and screaming at her enemies. She’s the dancer and the singer of the cabaret under chandeliers. Dazzling with her beauty all the men in town with strange hats and pearls. And a bijou too. Cursing while she’s high. Drunk off all the alcohol.

Look at the queen of Montparnasse. Look at her breasts. Look at her legs. Look in her eyes. Don’t you touch the ass. She is the queen of Montparnasse. She is Kiki de Montparnasse.

Kiki de Montparnasse was 13 when she worked in a shoe factory. And by 14, she lied in the bed of Kisling, Cocteau, Deren, Utrijo, and Fuzita. And in the beds of many many others. She was the last great muse of Paris. She used to say, “The only thing I need is an onion, some bread, a bottle of red wine, and I will always find somebody to offer me that.”

She sung for hookers for old housewives. For wine and dollars. For gold and art. She dances for the rich and prays for the poor. Is she an angel?

Suzanne was based on Suzanne Valadon who a model for famous painters such as Toulouse Lautrec, Edgar Degas, and Pierre-Auguste Renoir. The song takes a violent twist when a male painter gets violent with her and rapes her by having sex.

Suzanne Valadon is walking at the streets of Montmartre the poets and writers are staring aroused. The painters the birds and the sun all gazing excited the muse of the world. No one could take away their eyes from her as she was passing by with her red smile and her evening dress. No one could take away their eyes from Suzanne.

The muse is seated half-naked on the chaise-longue. The breeze stirs the foliage outside the window. It smells of jasmine and colors.

Suddenly the painter grabs her by the neck and pushes her against the wall. He becomes violent and blasphemous. Her cries of pleasure echo in the city of Paris. His breath is getting faster. His face is beaming with light. She bites her lips. The painter breaks the bed. She is lost in her pleasure in her orgasm. She screams, and her sounds penetrate the roofs of the city of light. No one could take away their eyes from Suzanne.

The song “Anita” was based the notorious German actress Anita Berber who was the first movie star in silent soft porn films. She was painted in a portrait by the German painter Otto Dix.

There’s a girl with dark cold eyes and short bright red hair named Anita Berber. She’s the fire in the streets of Berlin, Germany due to her sexual desire. She’s a movie star in soft porn naked films. The fame, the fame, the alcohol, and the praise are what she truly desires. Otto Dix has painted Anita Berber wearing her morphine dress. Since you’ve tasted her, your life will never be the same once you’ve slept with her.

Annabelle Chvostek - String of Pearls album review

Annabelle Chvostek's sixth album “String of Pearls” brings back the grittiness of 1930s gypsy jazz with a vibrant French jazz manouche sound as she sings some of her songs in the French language such as Belleville rendez-vous, D'être humain, and Je t'ai vue hier soir. This is gypsy jazz blended with a style of Vaudeville cabaret, folk noir, and swing jazz. This is one jazzy cross-cultural album. Her Canadian singer-songwriter tradition really prospers on the album.

Annabelle sang about how she saw a beautiful man she saw hidden under the silver moon last night on the song Je t’ai vue hier soir (I saw you last night). Je t’ai vue hier soir (I saw you last night) uses a mixture of swinging hot swing jazz and gypsy jazz ballads.

Annabelle saw him last night hidden in the dark under the silver moon. His hair was black like the night. My, Her darling is a real beauty. Oh the joy and bliss. Yes it's fine. Oh yes, this is the best. Annabelle has had her eyes set on this beau for an extended period of time now.

Just The Right Bullets is song about the sport of hunting. It takes much more than wild courage to be a hunter that engages in the sport of hunting. Just The Right Bullets is a slow tempo gypsy jazz song that follows a slow pace.

You can never go hunting with just a flintlock and a hound. You won't go home with a bunting if you blow a hundred rounds. It takes much more than wild courage or you'll hit the tattered clouds. You must have just the right bullets. The first one's always free You must be careful in the forest. Look out for broken glass and rusty nails.

Why be a fool when you can chase away your blind and your gloom? Annabelle has blessed each one of these bullets that shine just like a spoon. To have 60 silver wishes is a small price to pay. They'll be your private little fishes. And they'll never swim away. Annabelle Chvostek just wants you to be happy. That's her only little wish. She'll fix your wagon and your musket. And the spoon will have its dish. She shudders at the thought of your poor empty hunter's pouch.

Belleville rendez-vous (Belleville date) is about how Annabelle doesn’t want to end her days in any other cities on the planet except in a beautiful town in France called Belleville that is now Paris. She wants to end her days in Belleville, France. Belleville rendez-vous (Belleville date) is a song she sang using the French language. The swing rhythm follows that swing jazz melody and patterns perfectly.

Not many people know this but Belleville was previously the center of an independent commune that was annexed by the City of Paris in 1860. She believed that ending her days in the center of an independent commune would be paradise and the perfect city for her to die. She had believed this was the perfect way for her to die. The beautiful town in France called Belleville is now Paris.

Annabelle doesn't want to end her days in Timbuktu, Mali. Nor does she don't want to abruptly end her life in Acapulco, Mexico dancing stiff with gigolos. Places like Singapore, Kathmandu, or Honolulu won’t do. She wants to end her days in a beautiful town in France called Belleville.

She wants to go join in that swinging Belleville rendezvous, go marathon dancing, and perform the taboo Vovo cancan. All at the Belleville swinging rendezvous. She truly wants to be stupid. Singing like a bird is no longer done. Annabelle wants her voice to be broken. She really wants to swing like a Belleville triplet. Swing like the Belleville triplets. It's much sweeter to rhyme. She wants to be twisted and wrinkled like a Belleville triplet. Basically Annabelle wants to go on a swinging Belleville date.

Alice Francis – Electric Shock album review

Alice Francis – Electric Shock was the follow-up album to Alice Francis – St. James Ballroom. Alice Francis – Electric Shock is an overlooked gem of an electro swing album which has vintage jazz sound. Not many people knew about this album which flew under the music radar. The producers put pop and 1930s jazz music together perfectly. The album has eloquently produced jazz compositions such as Bird's Melody and Too Damn Hot.

Alice sings about how the birds sing for her as they're sitting in the apple trees on the soothing Bird's Melody. Bird's Melody has an irresistible melody that is sung perfectly by Alice. Her voice is so soothing as always.

It's such a sunny day but her lover is too far away from her. Alice wishes them both on a star while she wondering where he is. And the birds sing for Alice as they're sitting in the apple trees. The birds sing this sweet melody all for him and for Alice. She is waiting for tonight for her lover to be by her side. She is waiting here all patiently with this sweet melody.

Alice shows the hotness from her rough and tough side on the blazing Too Damn Hot. The producers put pop and 1930s jazz music together perfectly. This is another eloquently produced jazz composition.

Alice is too damn hot and too tough for the man attempting to hit on her. Alice sees he wants her desperately. Sweet talk is not enough to get her attention. So Alice tells him, “Forget it! Stop tryin’. I’m way too tough!” She is out of his league. His tactics are interesting and amusing. But he is simply just waisting his time.

Beatptized is a beat driven Afrobeat song which changes up the vibe and pace for the album. An ensemble of African drums were used throughout the song. Alice gets in touch with her spiritual side on this song. The song is about the spirit of love.

Alice was going to the riverside to finally break up with love. Then a spirit came upon her. This was a spirit that was manifested in vibes. And then she saw the light. She found out two things. Love is a rhythm. Love is a beat. It infected her system and brought her down to her knees. The moment that Alice opened up her eyes, she realized she was beatptized. Baptized with beats. Think about a baptism with beats.

Love is a fire that burns in her soul.  This got her out of control. The spirit told her, “Love is something that you need. My child the time is right, let your love run free.” Now Alice is dancing barefoot. The rhythm has got her breaking. Alice got baptized in the Mississippi Delta. When she opened up her eyes, she was beatptized. The boom bab beatptized her on the dance floor levitating with this energy. Alice has been affected and possessed with the best gift. She started doing gymnastics.

Le Trio BBQ - Sur la route des épices album review

Sur la route des épices is one of the bouncier gypsy jazz/jazz manouche albums from Montreal based swing trio Le Trio BBQ. There are a few mid tempo song sprinkled here and there. The album is heavily influenced by Latin guitar sounds as guitars are used on every song. Folk noir meets gypsy jazz on Sur la route des épices.

Château (Castle) is a strange twisted erratic fictional tale of an empathetic queen who announced to the people about expanding the castle in a good-hearted attempt only to have disastrous results during a game of poker. All of which ends in hilarity. The lyrics about them falling on top of each other is the humorous part of the song.

Once upon a time in a strange castle, there was an empathetic queen who was a good-hearted lady. One day she announced to the people, "Let's think big. Go on! We are expanding the castle."

At the other end, the king in his tottering tower had fun like crazy to break all records. So one of these days, his delusions of grandeur overwhelmed the reinforcements. Thus, in a few seconds they fell on top of each other.  All but one of them were thrown on the floor. Miraculously a four of clubs rocked from side to side in citadel solitaire in the ruins of the castle.

The king had gotten and was thrown into the discard pile in the middle of the rubble. Then he came back to his senses. The servant of the round table suddenly had a brilliant idea. The servant of the round table said, “Let us raise the greatest. The biggest of all castles.”

He had carte blanche. Complete freedom for one to act as one wishes or thinks what is best for the situation at hand. An ace up the sleeve. The continuation in the ideas that before him lay with an army of patience as reinforcements

Thus, in a few seconds they climbed on top of each other all the reds and blacks. Spike straight up at the top the four of clubs was brandishing from side to side. The colors of the crown for the glory of the castle.

There's no point in having your hand full with aces and royal suites when obviously it doesn't stand up. It was just a four of clubs. And though he brings luck in poker or as a frame, it wasn't worth much. It wasn't worth much.

Deux doigts (Two fingers) is a gypsy jazz song which explains to us that we need two fingers to do the simplistic things in life (simple things in life) such as when it's time to spin the pages of a book and to show off for fly fishing. Nothing beats thumb and forefinger. You only need two fingers.

We need two fingers to do the simplistic things in life (simple things in life) such as when it's time to spin the pages of a book, to put quotes other people's sentences, control the flow of the shower, to give yourself the chance by crossing the phalanges, and to show off for fly fishing. Nothing beats thumb and forefinger.

For a pinch of salt. A hint of cinnamon. To make a peace sign and love. A rock & roll riff. To feel the pulse send each other kisses. Take out the middle and index finger. To lock the doors from an old car. To wax a mustache. Or to tie chouclaques (shoes). To light your cigarette. To misplace the matches. To pull up your fly. Type letters on the machine. You only need two fingers.

The Speakeasies' Swing Band! - Land Of Plenty album review

The Speakeasies' Swing Band! - Land Of Plenty has that swinging speakeasy sound of the 1920s and 1930s. Who knew that retro Greek jazz could be this swinging? The band kills their performances whether performing songs in the languages of Greek or English. Το Δάνειο (To Danio), Πέρα Βρέχει (Pera Vrechi), Parla Più Piano, S Ballad, and  Please Love Me are some of the highlights off this album.

Πέρα Βρέχει (Pera Vrechi) described the weather on a rainy day. It's raining outside and the whole world is running. Everything around is blurry and grey. Flooded roads with the background of the cold and lifeless concrete in the city. Everyone can't stand it. They are looking for a way to get out of here.

Το Δάνειο (To Danio) is about a man named Danio who was going to get a new house but wasn’t able to because the bank is not fair and the only solution for him is loans.

A man named Danio was going to get a new house in a fine neighborhood. This new house would be spacious and beautiful. This new house would have a view. The house would also have a jacuzzi so that his lady doesn't get grief while the man is away at work. Danio works like a dog all day long.

However Danio is not going to able to purchase that new house because the bank is not far and because he doesn't have a penny left. So the only solution is loans. Danio got her a car too. Now he has to pay the installments since he owes the bank a car and a house. The only for Danio solution is loans.

Summer is slowly approaching. His lady really wants to go to the islands to harmonize in the waters of the Aegean Sea. She can't get any worse. The bank is not far.

The Rin Tins - Thick as Thieves EP EP review

The Rin Tins came hard on their release Thick as Thieves EP. Their snazzy jazz selection and instrumentation just keeps on getting better. Bristol's finest purveyors of swing jazz and gypsy jazz showcase their wild side on this release. Toff Party and Extra Extra are some of the highlights.

The Rin Tins tell us there’s no party quite like a Toff Party with champagne, caviar and whatnot. They get drunk and act all tarty with this song. But don’t get farty with the butler. Do you ever fashion a crime of heated passion? Or do you just play cards? Why not try the following? Ascot, Sotheby’s, Buckingham Palace Parties, The Ritz Harrods, water polo, French cuisine, or flying solo?

The Back On Sale song uses a beautiful saxophone solo in the mid section. Now the song finishes with lyrical lines in terms of being out of sight and spectacular but with the bitterness of sin. But it’s a roll of the dice. You have to pay the price to not be back on sale.

Extra-Extra explains to us that a democracy isn’t always perfect in a democratic society. That goes for any democracy as any democracy isn’t always perfect. A politician’s promise isn’t worth a whore’s bouquet.

The thirst for power is an ominous trait with many politicians. A politician’s promise isn’t worth a whore’s bouquet. The man on the hill has nothing new to say. Don’t bend the knee to any false flag or listen when media tongues begin to wag.

These lyrics, including Verse 3, explain to us that a democracy isn’t always perfect.

Vs 3
The unknown actor on a fake stage
Is no better than a voter on Election Day
A democracy isn’t always perfect,
Neither’s the alternative last I checked
But who am I to give the game away

Pantaloon Descendo - 7 Inches of Bliss single review

7 Inches of Bliss by Pantaloon Descendo is one of the most provocative dark cabaret singles in the history of dark cabaret music. The artwork design alone is what makes the single so provocative and mind scarring. The artwork features a drawing of a rainbow coming out of the genital area of a stick figure with the phrase “7 inches of bliss!” in black colored text. You can see sperm cells floating through the rainbow making the artwork even more provocative.

Love Smells is a naughty provocative love song where Pantaloon Descendo shares about his love to a woman he cannot be around.

Pantaloon Descendo loves this woman and has fallen for her. But here’s the problem. Although he likes her,  he can't be with her or be around her. It's pretty dumb. But he’d like to tell her that he likes her. Pantaloon Descendo wants to kiss her and then undress her. Since he can't stand her, he’ll just think of her and masturbate.

These lyrics show where the anticipation and climax start to build and progress where things get naughty.

I'd like to think that there is hope
That life will show you the right path
The one where you will hear of soap
The one that leads you to a bath

I want to kiss you and then undress you
To be inside you, wish we could mate
Since I can't stand you, I'll just think of you
And masturbate

The Candyman is a pedophilic love song about a man who exposes his genitals to schoolchildren. Pantaloon Descendo plays naughy folk with his ukulele.

When school is over The Candyman is always around with his pants down by the playground. He just waits near a fence. Drools as he stalks you and your friends. Between his legs there grows a twinkie. He's got sweets and treats and bonbons and candy bars for me, for you, and for everyone as he longs to lick your body. Why don't you come and have some fun?

The Candyman has got a plan. He parks his van by the courtyard. His bag is full of bubble gum. He'll take his ho-ho and pack your no-no with cookie dough and hot marshmallow. He's got sweets and treats.

The Candyman is on the prowl. His intentions are foul. He'll try to bait you with Swedish fish or with a jar of licorice.  He knows you crave for all that sugar.  Just stay away from his tasty dick. A single lick could get you sick with STDs like diabetes.
