MINSEO (민서) - Is Who single review

MINSEO (민서) - Is Who is one of the lesser known jazz singles from the Korean Peninsula (particularly South Korea) that has gotten overlooked and overshadowed. Her music is what is needed in K-Pop. These songs are sensual love songs with real feelings and emotions. Is Who and 멋진 꿈 (The Grand Dreams) are the highlights of the single.

Is Who is about MINSEO needing some who will be her first love that will wipe away her tears. Giving others is more regrettable. She is just too good to curse. To be truthful, it's a little annoying. But something is missing a bit.

The Grand Dreams is about the wonderful grand dreams MINSEO has been having in her sleep. Mainly about a man she loves. The song is beautiful like a fairy tale. MINSEO had such a wonderful dream but she can't tell anyone. She has seen it since that day. Only one space between her and the man she loves. It's empty but the space that blocks her. There are many meanings in this strange gap that she can't see. She tries to get over it. She hope there are no cloudy days in front of the two of them. It may not be just her imagination. Their love will leave an afterglow like a movie.

Rufus Blaq - Credentials album review

Rufus Blaq showed not only his production credentials but his rapping credentials on his 1998 album Credentials. He proved that he could hold his own weight as a rapper on his songs such as Come Alive Y'all, Out Of Sight (Yo), Give It To Me Daddy, True Ballerz, and Ambush Crew. His trademark husky voice may make him sound like a gimmick. But if you take time to listen, you can already tell he has incredibly lyrical skills on the mic.

Rufus Blaq raps in his trademark husky voice about how every time he writes a rhyme that that you know it's tight on his song Out of Sight (Yo). Never test Rufus Blaq the six footer. You can never compare to the rhymes he writes. The song uses heavy bass lines over East Coast style boom bap hip hop beats. These lyrics show that he can be verbally aggressive and violent on the mic, “You can still catch verbal slugs to ya chest/You niggas tryin' to front like you hard as cold steel” Clearly he bites rougher than a Rottweiler. You can bet your top dollar on that one.

On Give It To Me Daddy, he talks about how he can make things hot with his lyrics and raps. He’s a cat that's impossible to stop. He rock parties on a global scale not only with his production but his rap as well. Lyrically y'all haters should not test. You talkin' shit when you never progress.

Catboss - The Jazz and Masks album review

The Jazz and Masks by Catboss is a concept album that is a noir story which covers the story of 7 characters in this seedy noir story with a strong sense of narration due to the strong narrative. Some of the characters are Catboss, a mobster, a tinker, a soldier, a tailor, and a sailor. This noir story is a dark tale of vengeance and woe. But don't worry. It has a happy ending!

The story was written by Mai Yishan (Cat Boss). All of the music composed and produced by Mai Yishan (Cat Boss). The instrumentation is phenomenal and extravagant. Jazz and Masks by Catboss is a concept album that is a noir story with jazz and electronic instrumentation backing. You can hear a heavy sense of electronics in the background along with the other noises.

"Oh, good day! I've been expecting you. Come in, come in! I've got a pot brewing right now, it'll be done in a few moments. Would you fancy a cup? It'll do you good on these cold nights! The weather has been rather frightful lately, hasn't it?

Now, I surmise you would like to hear another story? Here, have a seat by the fire, and I shall weave you a tale, a dark tale of vengeance and woe. But don't worry: it has a happy ending! Now just sit back and relax, and I'll put the music on."

Incognito is the electronic jazz opener for this concept album and noir story. The song explained how this city used to belong to crows and how everything was fine when crows ran the place. But then the cats rolled into town and everything went south. The song also explained how it is fun not when one feels like a stranger in their own home. Ever felt like a stranger in your own home? Well, let me tell you, it ain’t fun.

This city used to belong to crows. Everything was fine when crows ran the place. But then the cats rolled into town and everything went south. Cats brought in quicksilver by the truckloads. Soon corruption seeped into every corner of the city bringing promises of wealth, fame, and prosperity. People bought into every word of it. Before long, the city was swarmed by skyscrapers tall enough to blot out the sky and the crows couldn't fly no more. Sure, this city might be richer than ever before. But you know what? It ain't their home anymore.

Silver Sewers is the song which explained where abandoned things of the city go whether it's junk, trash, or simply the unwanted. If the city rejects it, it'll find it's way underground. The song uses a distorted scattered electro horn that is just all over the place.

Welcome to the Gutter, where the abandoned things of the city go. Whether it's junk, trash, or simply the unwanted. If the city rejects it, it'll find its way underground. The sewers used to run black with filth. Now they shine silver with blasphemy. It's been years since the cats started dumping quicksilver into the drains. The vapour hangs thick and heavy in the air. It's bad news. Just a whiff of it'll rot your soul. Deadmen flit amongst the shadows here staying just out of sight. The bogeyman's waiting.

The Tinker told the story of a character who was a a cranky, tired old man called “The Tinker” who is one of the 5 main characters of this noir story. The surface-dwellers know him as the Witch, the bogeyman they use to scare their children to sleep

The Tinker is a cranky, tired old man. All bones, feathers, and dry spirit. The surface-dwellers know him as the Witch, the bogeyman they use to scare their children to sleep. Truth is they ain't far off the mark.

The Tinker runs the Gutter. Only his masks keep the noxious fumes at bay. Little wonder, then, that he's been able to keep his stranglehold on the snitches. He keeps them alive. And in return they act as his eyes and ears. That's how the Tinker knows everything that happens in the city, above or below.

He hands Catboss a mask made of cold steel. It's shaped like a cat's face. Ironic given the situation. But then again, it's exactly the sort of thing the vindictive old bastard would do. He looks even wearier than usual as he peers at Catboss through his goggles. He says, “You've got a job to do.”

Break Everyone Kill Everything shows The Tinker and Catboss talking about old times for a bit.

This city’s been dyed in blood since the first day he remember. There used to be three murders in this town. But each of them knew the place was ever big enough for one. It wasn't a good time for honest folks. You never knew who was lurking around the corner with a blackjack and a gun.

Then the Tailor came in, took over, and swept the city clean. In a week, two of the three murders had been completely wiped out. The crooks even made a game of it by seeing how many they could gun down in one night. As far as Catboss knows, no one ever beat the Soldier. For a while, life was peaceful as long as you kept in line.

The Tailor told the story of a character who was an oblivious elderly man who’s his front porch knitting. The kindly old man who'd smile and wave at the kids as they played on the street. He was the sort of person who everybody loved. However he hid his true personality from the public. The Tailor was really a shrewd old geezer who'd spend his time weaving webs and crafting schemes. The egoistic sort who loved himself more than anyone else.

Everyone knew the Tailor as the old geezer who'd sit on his front porch knitting. The kindly old man who'd smile and wave at the kids as they played on the street. The sort of person who everybody loved. They knew him to be hard of sight and hearing, oblivious to the changing city around him.

In other words, nobody knew the Tailor. The only ones who knew were the three of them. The Tinker, the Soldier and Catboss. The Tailor was really a shrewd old geezer who'd spend his time weaving webs and crafting schemes. The egoistic sort who loved himself more than anyone else. A sharp-eyed crow who had the entire city at his fingertips. And nobody even knew. He was hard of hearing though. That much was true. But it looks like the cats got his tail in the end. He's gone now.

Rush Hour 2 explained how The Witch set Catboss up.

The cats burst in just as they were done talking with guns a-blazin'. Good thing he managed to slip out the back. However The Tinker wasn't so lucky as he got pumped full of lead right then and there on the scene. From the look of surprise on his face, it seems he wasn't counting on them using him as target practice.

Cat's must've cut him a deal after The Tailor died. Too bad The Tinker was never really one for mind games. Their betrayal was inevitable, yet he never even saw it coming.Either way, he don't blame him. Losing the backing of The Tailor meant that there was nothing stopping the cats from coming in and mopping up the rats. He did what he had to. The rest was easy. The Gutter ain't easy to navigate, even for the natives. There was no way the brutes would catch up. Once a gutterboy, always a gutterboy.

The Soldier explained the mysterious background and persona behind the character known as “The Soldier”. He is one of the main characters to this story.

No one knows much about the Soldier other than that he fought in the war. They say he beat back an enemy siege by himself. They say he killed a thousand men with his claws alone. They say a lot of things. But he never said anything. Not a word. And if he ever did? Well, only the Tailor would know.

The Soldier was the Tailor's right hand and his left too. If there was something that needed doin', the Soldier was the man to get it done. But he always seemed a little dull. Seems like the war had messed him up and left him not quite all there mentally. Let's just put it that way. From what the Tinker told Catboss, he went crazy after finding the Tailor's body. He stormed the cats' stronghold all by himself. He took twelve dozen with him to the grave.

Seven Shot Revolver explained the story behind The Soldier's trusty sidearm weapon which was his prized six-shooter.

The Tinker left Catboss a mask. The Tailor left Catboss his orders. He’d figure that the Soldier left him something too. The cats took their weapons when they cleared them out. But they missed one. The Soldier's trusty sidearm which was his prized six-shooter.

But it was no ordinary six-shooter. The Tinker said, “Pull the trigger while the chamber's empty and it fires a final shot. A bullet of pure mercury. A seven shot revolver. No one knows how the Soldier got his hands on such a weapon, although the Tinker thinks it could have been an experimental piece for use in the war. But honestly, Catboss couldn't care less where it came from. It's all he has got.

The Sailor explained the story behind the character known as “The Story”.

The Sailor used to be a gutterboy up until the day The Tailor swooped in and picked him up. He initiated The Sailor into the murder and personally taught him the ropes. The Tailor treated The Sailor like his own son. The Tailor gave The Sailor everything he asked for. He'd even named him his successor, just days before he died. Honestly, he’s never really figured out why he picked him. The Tailor said he saw potential in The Sailor. But The Sailor never really figured out what for. Whenever The Sailor asked, The Tailor simply smile and say, “You'll see.”

But The Sailor couldn't be there for The Tailor when he needed him most. The Sailor was out of town when the murder was wiped out. The kind of orders The Tailor gave him. He was always out of the city moving from place to place. By the time news got to him, it was too late to save anyone. Only The Tinker survived the onslaught. Now he is the only one left. That makes him the heir all right. He’d always been thinking of a way to repay him for everything he's done.

Masquerade explained how Devil Mobster Kitten loves her little masquerades and little parties that she throws in her mansion on the weekends.

She loves her little masquerades, little parties that she throws in her mansion on the weekends. As if her usual excesses weren't disgusting enough. But this time, she's gone out of her way to make it a real spectacle. The crowd's so big to the point of having spilled out of the gigantic front hall and into the mansion ground. It feels like she invited everyone in the city.

The noise is unbearable. Everyone talks at once, laughing and clinking their glasses of wine and champagne. Their voices mash with the abhorrent mess they call a "live band" was collectively forming a terrible cacophony.

It's sport. Celebration for the victory. She's making a huge show of it hoping to rile Catboss up. She know's he’s the last one left. She's hoping he’ll come. And if she thinks she's won, she's got another thing coming.

Devil Mobster Kitten explained the story behind a character of the story who was the antagonist of the story who was known as “Devil Mobster Kitten”.  She's picked up many names over her years here. Devil's Paw, Silver Queen, Demon Kingpin, etc. She was the Catboss of the Catfia.

Devil Mobster Kitten was a wealthy aristocat who felt that her money just wasn't enough. She rolled into town some 7 years ago and messed up the place with her army of brutes. She's a magician, a conjurer, a user of quicksilver, and the head of her own little murder. If you can really call the Catfia that. To put it in simpler terms, she is a greedy bitch who's rotten to the core.

Catboss spots her strutting arrogantly through the mass of people, a petite white cat flanked by two huge bodyguards. She stops at the top of the stairs, scanning the crowd below, like a queen surveying her subjects. Her gaze catches mine, and she pauses as she spots a crow in a cat mask. She smiles. Then she turns and glides upstairs. Her bodyguards do not follow. She's luring Catboss upstairs. She wants to finish Catboss off herself. Her arrogance will be her downfall.

Shatterdance is where story starts to take a violent turn as chaos and turbulence occur as Catboss and Devil Mobster Kitten engaged in a shootout.

A wild shot fired by Catboss hits a vase. Pink glass scatters everywhere. She figured the quicksilver would make her bulletproof. She's probably counting these off. Shit. That Tommy gun's bad news. He dives out of the way of the volley crashing into a table. It splinters under his weight as he hits the ground hard.

She rips him a new one. That was a priceless shot right between the eyes. Bullets tear through his wing leaving bloody holes and charred feathers. He didn't see that coming. He stops moving and becomes a crumpled heap on the floor. Thn he shoots her right between the eyes. Out the window she goes.

One. My wild shot hits a vase. Pink glass scatters everywhere.

Two. Yeah, figured the quicksilver would make her bulletproof.

Three. She's probably counting these off, the bitch.

Four. Shit. That Tommy gun's bad news. I dive out of the way of the volley, crashing into a table. It splinters under my weight. I hit the ground hard.

Five. She rips me a new one. Bullets tear through my wings, leaving bloody holes and charred feathers. No pain. No pain. Focus.

Six. I stop moving, a crumpled heap on the floor. That's right, just get a little closer. Feeling lucky, punk?

Seven. Bam. Right between the eyes. Didn't see that coming, did ya? Damn, I should have taken a picture... That was a priceless shot. Out the window she goes... That's it. I'm done. I'm done. I have to get out...

Pitch Black Nova is the closer for this concept album and noir story. The violins help make the morbid sounding instrumentation perfect. Devil Mobster Kitten dies as she lays in an injured state.

Evan Rollet and the Evan Rollets Present "Evan Rollet" album review

Evan Rollet and the Evan Rollets Present "Evan Rollet" is a vulgar style comedy album backed by a swing jazz instrumental background. His vulgar comedy is what makes his album hilarious. The ukulele infusion fits in with the swing jazz sound perfectly. His style of comedy is similar to Don Tjernagel, Louis C K, Don Black, and Henry Rollins.

Evan proves to everyone how hilarious his vulgar comedy is on the song Not Funny. Even if he is not funny to some people. That is the basis of Not Funny.

Evan sings about how his music may be crude and unreasonably lewd. But he is considerably less funny when he censors all his bits. He’ll strum some silly chords. He’ll say words that you abhor like vagina, asshole, twat, or even cunt. Now much to your dismay, your opinion does not sway. Someday he will get paid for the dirty songs he play. But til then he’ll just be keeping it real.

In Sometimes On My Mind pokes fun at the aspects of modern romance in a not so light-hearted manner with his crude and unreasonably lewd humor. Especially with the lyrics. He pokes fun at subjects such as masturbation in an adult manner.

This woman Evan likes is sometimes on his mind when he is dreaming or when he is trying to sleep. She's mostly on his mind when his playing with his penis. With eyes of pearl whom which he adores. Basically Evan thinks about her every time he masturbates.

This is how Evan pokes fun at the aspects of modern romance in a not so light-hearted manner with his crude and unreasonably lewd humor with the lyrics.

She's mostly on my mind
When I'm playing with my penis

If I go on, play her love songs
I fear I would be heckled
So I rub my dong I touch my shlong
I fiddle with my schmekel
And though I pine all of the time
These feelings I can't refute
I mostly think about her
When I'm practicing skin flute

She's sometimes on my mind
I get this feeling when I masturbate
She's sometimes on my mind
It's so appealing as my heart starts to ache

My dick, my cock, my wang, my dong
It breaks my heart to write love songs
Why does modern romance seem so dumb
She's mostly on my mind
When I'm covered in my own cum

She's sometimes on my mind
Do you know what I mean
She's mostly on my mind
When I'm playing with my penis

Evan pokes fun at modern romance with these lyrics.

My dick, my cock, my wang, my dong
It breaks my heart to write love songs
Why does modern romance seem so dumb
She's mostly on my mind
When I'm covered in my own cum

Evan pokes fun at the viewpoint on sexuality on the song Life's a Drag (When You're a Drag Queen). He makes fun of drag queens such as RuPaul. He sings about how not everyone is capable enough to be a drag queen. Life's a drag when you're a drag queen because not everyone can be a Frankenfurter or RuPaul. Who knew dressing as a broad would take this many balls? It's time to shake up your gender normative binary views on sexuality.

donnie joe's American Swing - Rhythm Is Our Business album review

donnie joe's American Swing band explained and sung about how rhythm is and was their business on their 2016 album Rhythm Is Our Business. donnie and his band did a phenomenal job singing and performing. Band members sing songs in the tune and style of Louis Prima. The band uses some of the most swingingest and jazziest of sounds around that will make hip cats want to dance and sing. A big band backing helps support the swing in swing jazz. This hot jazz album will make you want to jump and jive to the vibes. This is certainly a phenomenal jazz album.

donnie sings about the lovely physical features of his lady named Caldonia on the song Caldonia. The song has that upbeat swing jazz boogie you would hear in jazz from the 1930s.

donnie is crazy over a certain woman whose name is Caldonia. She’s long lean and lanky but she’s his baby. Ain’t had nothing to eat. She’s got great big feet. Those just some of her many distinguishing physical “feetures” he cherishes about her.

However donnie’s been told to leave that Caldonia alone because she is no good for him. His mother told him to leave that Caldonia alone. She said, “Boy stay away from that girl. She ain’t no good for ya.”But his mother just didn’t what Caldonia was putting down. And not just in the Laundromat. So he is taking himself back up to Caldonia’s house to ask her just one more time. He loves her just the same. What makes her big head so hard?

donnie sings his heart out about how he doesn’t want anything but that Frim Fram Sauce on the song titled Frim Fram Sauce. The song is a blues styled jazz song where words and terminology from blues music are used. Words such as "Frim-Fram", "Chafafah" , and "Ausen Fay" are forms of doo-wop which are popular in blues.

donnie don’t want French fried potatoes or red ripe tomatoes. He is never satisfied. He wants the frim fram sauce with the Ausen fay and chafafa on the side. He don’t want pork chops and bacon as that will not awaken his appetite inside. A boy’s really got to eat. And boy he should eat right. Waiter, please serve it deep fried.

Choo Choo Ch'Boogie showcased donnie’s love and affection for traveling by train. The song has that upbeat swing jazz boogie you would hear in jazz from the 1930s. The song uses an infectious piano backing overlapping those everlasting bass lines. Heulwen Thomas was killing it with those minor notes and chords while playing on the fiddle.

donnie’s headin' for the station with a pack on his back. He is tired of any other forms of transportation. He loves to hear the rhythm of the clickity clack of/coming from trains and hear the lonesome whistle. He loves to see the smoke from the stack and pal around with democratic fellows named Mac. So take donnie right back to the track, Jack!

You reach your destination, but alas and alack! You need some compensation to get back in the black. You take your morning paper from the top of the stack and read the situation from the front to the back. The only job that's open needs a man with a knack.

donnie plans to and is gonna settle down by the railroad track and live the life of Riley in a beaten-down shack. So when he hears a whistle, he can peak through the crack and watch the train a rollin' when they're ballin' the jack. He clearly loves the rhythm of the clickity clack. So take him right back to the track, Jack!

The song has that upbeat swing jazz boogie you would hear in jazz from the 1930s especially with the lyrics to the chorus. Both Don ‘donnie joe’ Sweeney and Heulwen Thomas sing the chorus.

Chorus
Choo choo, choo choo, ch’boogie!
Woo woo, ooh ooh, ch'boogie!
Choo choo, choo choo, ch’boogie!
Take me right back to the track, Jack!

donnie joe's American Swing band explained and sung about how rhythm is and was their business with their own song appropriately titled and called Rhythm Is Our Business. Rhythm is their business as rhythm is what they sell. Now if you got the blues, rhythm's what you need. Because if you got rhythm you're sure to succeed now. donnie also sings about what musical instrument each band member plays. donnie joe's American Swing band played it cool and played it hot. Yeah, this band can really go to town.

Tamasin Reardon plays the alto saxophone in the band. She can really wail now when she goes up that scale on that saxophone of hers. Heulwen Thomas plays fiddle in that band (in the band). She’s that fiddle gal in the band.

Gareth Hall is the piano man in the band. Gareth Hall’s got 10 fingers on each hand and he knows such a fine way to make his Roland keyboard sound like a Steinway. That is how good and proficient his keyboard playing is. He owns it on piano.

Greg Evans is the drummer in the band. He plays them skins with his hands. The boys in the band they all play hot licks now when he picks up them sticks.

Ashley-John Long is the upright bass player in the band. Ashley-John Long slaps that bass with his hands. He brings happiness to you when he plucks on those strings.

The band payed homage, tribute, and respect to jazz musicians from the 20th century such as Count Basie and Duke Ellington in these lyrics.

Now Basie, Woody, Duke and Stan
Boy their music it sure was grand
They played it cool and they played it hot
And we all loved their sounds a lot

donnie joe's American Swing - We Took On The Town album review

donnie joe's American Swing band sung about how they took on the town with their most recent album We Took On The Town. The band uses some of the most swingingest and jazziest of sounds around that will make hip cats want to dance and sing. This hot jazz album will make you want to jump and jive to the vibes. Now the band did a phenomenal job performing as always. This is another phenomenal jazz album from donnie joe's American Swing band.

That Old Black Magic is a jazzy jazz love song about how that old black magic called love has got donnie entrapped into its spell. Donnie is caught up under that old black magic called love. The song uses a heavy incorporation of Dixieland jazz from the Louisiana Delta.

That old black magic has donnie entrapped in its spell. It’s the same old witchcraft when her eyes meet his eyes. He can feel those icy fingers go up and down his spine. He gets the same old tingle that he feels inside. Round and round he goes like a leaf that's caught in a tide. A flame with such a burning desire. Only her kiss can put out the fire. Donnie is caught up under that old black magic called love. She is the lover he waited for.

donnie joe's American Swing band sung about how they took on the town on the song We Take On The Town. They certainly took on the town with their song We Take On The Town.

It doesn’t matter if life is getting us down. The world’s on a platter when donnie joe's American Swing band takes on the town. They don’t need to be best pressed with no ermine or gown because they are still the best dressed when they take on the town. No one here can top donnie joe's American Swing. You can take your millions. They don’t need fame to be renown. They sing out their hearts when they take on the town.

donnie sings about how much he misses the city of New Orleans, Louisiana with the song Do You Know What It Means (To Miss New Orleans). The song explores the significance and culture of New Orleans. The song uses a heavy incorporation of Dixieland jazz from the Louisiana Delta. Do you know what it means to miss New Orleans? Listen to this song and find out. Don’t be scared or afraid to find out.

Do you know what it means to miss New Orleans? Do you know what it means to miss New Orleans each night and day? Do you know what it means to miss it each night and day? Do you know what it means to miss New Orleans when that's where you left your heart? donnie knows he is not wrong This feeling's getting stronger the longer he stays away from the city of New Orleans, Louisiana.

Donnie misses those moss covered vines and the tall sugar pines were mocking birds used to sing. He’d like to see that lazy Mississippi River hurrying into spring. A Creole tune that fills the air with the moonlight on the Louisiana bayou. He dreams about magnolias blooming. Wishin' he was there. The Mardi Gras and the memories of creole tunes that filled the air. He dreams of oleanders in June. donnie misses New Orleans.

donnie sung about he only wanted to be an ordinary sideman for his band on the song called I Want To Be A Sideman. donnie just wants to be an ordinary sideman. A go along for the ride man that lives responsibility free. He wants to fill behind the vocals. Double on flute and jam on the blues. He wants to play while the people dance. donnie wants to be a sideman. Just a highly qualified man. A real professional pride man.

Nicolás Gurría - A vida é tão boa album review

Nicolás Gurría had delved into his Brazilian roots on his album A vida é tão boa as he has a passion for bossa nova jazz. The beautiful instrumentation arrangements are what make the album perfect along with his lyrics that capture the true Brazilian spirit. The way he plays guitar is just simply beautiful. Those soothing subtle vocals of his are another main attraction of this album. Nicolás pays homage and tribute to samba music on his song called Saudade Fez Um Samba (Saudade Made a Samba). Nicolás shows his appreciation for his Brazilian heritage and culture on Samba do Avião (Airplane Samba).
