Rogerio Bicudo - Sambanovo album review
Sambanovo by Rogerio Bicudo is another fantastic Brazilian jazz album that serves as the best representation of what Brazilian jazz is. This Brazilian jazz album incorporates samba and chamber jazz with live orchestration. The new samba is swinging. The lyrics are absolutely great. Fans of jazz music should not miss out on listening to this album. What makes this jazz album special is that this album was fully recorded in Brazil.
Samba e Poesia (Samba and Poetry) is a samba and poetry type of song hence the title. You have samba and poetry over smooth soothing chamber jazz. Rogerio explains how samba music makes him a poet.
The cadence of the samba is what takes and brings Rogerio to write poetry over samba music and all that jazz. Long drafts of pain and happiness. And feed this sea of passion of love and longing. Although he doesn’t do samba. Samba is what makes Rogerio a poet to a verse. He is singing life in verses until his end comes.
Lavradio 106 is a song about a restaurant in Rio De Janeiro, Brazil which is known as Rua Do Lavradio 106. You have samba music playing over smooth chamber jazz.
The sun was already high. Rogerio found himself at Lavradio 106. He wants someone to make him a good coffee to drink. Then he goes on dancing to Samba de Gafieira with a partner that is his lover because he want to please his partner. After dancing, they go get some Chinite at the Brazil bar only just hours later. It's almost always like this. It's like the old days. Rogerio goes out there to enjoy a good time at Tiradentes Square.
The new samba is swinging on the song Sambanovo with the incorporations of samba and chamber jazz with live orchestration. Sensational is one word to describe this Rogerio Bicudo song.

The Tailspins - s/t album review
The Tailspins self-titled album captured that swingin’ swing spirit that swing jazz music that has with an appreciation for jump blues. This album captures a beautiful moment in jazz. The Tailspins put their own spin on jazz music with their debut album from 2022. Elements of calypso are used in many of their songs.
The Tailspins put their own spin on jazz music with their opening song “The Shiverin' Swing” by coming up with their own dance called the The Shiverin' Swing.
Way up there on the hilltop among the witherin' trees. There's something you should see. That's gonna make you scream. Way up there on the hilltop among the witherin' trees is where they do The Shiverin' Swing. Ghosts begin to shimmy and sing. They're waiting for you and me. They wanna dance around because they can't get to town. That's why they do The Shiverin' Swing. Have you gone and died? Or have you lost your mind? Don't be petrified. You'll have the time of your life.
Here is how you do the The Shiverin' Swing dance. You hop in when the snare drops and then you wiggle your knees. You drop down. Then you jump high.
Hands are reaching for the ceiling. There's no mystery. So if you hear a bump, don't give your throat a lump. They're just jivin' to The Shiverin' Swing. Don't be petrified. You'll have the time of your life.
The Havana Creep is a deep and swinging jazz song with a Cuban vibe and sound. You will be mystified in the heat of the night from a jungle beat from inside. You won't believe The Havana Creep. As you swing let your body be taken over now. Swaying trees in sight. The music will never stop. If you leave, you will find not a thing left behind or vanishing.
Beep Beep is a slice of life song that deals with the annoyance of traffic jams. People are standin' outside their cars while being Gridlocked in traffic. People are going to be late to see their loved ones. What's the hold up? The song follows an upbeat pace and horn.
We're Not Alone is one of those songs which reminds us that we are not alone when dealing with death. The song encourages people to face their fears instead of avoid them.
When you hear the trumpets callin' you in when there is a flash of light, then the darkness begins. That is death coming to take you away from Earth. Earth shakin' and a thunderin'. They'll know we're not alone. Run but they'll see. Soon the dead will rise. You'll wanna cover your eyes. You'll leave it all behind.
You'll Make It By is a follow-up song to We're Not Alone and is the closer of the album. The song encourages people that they will make it in life. Please the crowd and you're alright. And if you're charming, you'll make it by.

Sin Loc - Smell The Smoke, See The Fire album review
For those who don't know, Smell The Smoke, See The Fire by Sin Loc was supposed to be released in 1999/2000 on Gotcha Bakk Records and Big Game Records, but due to the decline of gangsta rap in the music industry and distributors not wanting to help this album get released in stores, the album remained unreleased on a national level for 14 years until being released in 2013. Record labels were scared of Sin Loc back in the 1990s. Too bad this wasn't released in 1999 as Sin Loc had planned.
Now the album was released in 2000 on an independent level by Gotcha Bakk Records and Big Game Records. Sin Loc had to release and distribute the album in limited quantities himself in cities such as Compton, Long Beach, Lynwood, Inglewood, Los Angeles, Torrance, and Bellflower. The album was released on a national level 14 years in 2013.
Production was done by Funkysoulbrotha, Black Jason and Sin Loc. This is perfect G-Funk. Tredding Water, 4 Ya Hat, and Super Rhymes 1999 should have been singles. Super Rhymes 1999 is the best song on this album!! This is an album full of awesome punchlines. Do not miss out on a chance to listen to this album. Also Sin Loc was the G who wore the Freddy Kuger mask in 1993 on Steady Dippin', Piru Love, and Bangin' On Wax. Sin Loc was one of the rappers on the Bangin' On Wax project series. He was on the Crip side for the project.
Sin Loc delve into the roots of old school rap and hip hop on the song Super Rhymes 1999 by relying on and incorporating Jimmy Spicer - Super Rhymes. The song even incorporated lyrics from the beginning and intro.
Rhymes faster than a speeding bullet
Has more rhymes than a train has tracks
Able to leap sucker MCs in a single rhyme
Look at the jam on the mic
“It's a bird! It's a plane!”
No—I'm Su-Su-Super Rhymes
It’s the new thing, makes you want to swing
While us MCs rap, doing our thing
It’s not singing, like it used to be
No, it’s rapping to the rhythm of the sure shot beat
It goes one for the money, two for the show
You got my beat, now here I go
You see, this DJ, he gets down
Mixing records while they go round
With the hid-dip, the hop, you just don’t stop
You rock to the beat ‘til it makes you drop
Yes, I’m one of a kind, I’m Super Rhymes
And I’d like to say hello
And since I’m on the mic and I’m ready to rock
This is how it goes
Yes, I rock so good, I rock so well
I ring-ding-dang-a-ding-ding-a-dang, baby
I'll ring your bell
Yes, I’m Super Rhymes, I’m twenty-two
I want to be a hundred before I’m through
Because no, I didn’t come from the planet Earth
Planet Rhyme-on is my place of birth
From the day I came out my mother’s womb
I found myself in the operating room
Then the doctor spanked me on my behind
I didn’t cry, the kid started to rhyme
My mother said, “Son, that’s the way it should be
Your name is Super Rhymes, you’ll be an MC”
So then my father put me on a meteorite
The bass goes super hard and so do the beats. The song showcases Sin Loc's lyrical talent. Super Rhymes 1999 is the best song on this album! Super Rhymes 1999 should have been a single.
Sin Loc tells us he's well and alive reppin' the CPT on Still Rollen' with Black Jason. The song showcases Sin Loc's lyrical talent. The bass goes super hard and so do the beats.
Many fans have said Fo Clips should have been featured on this song. Fo Clips originally supposed to have been featured on this song but was killed just weeks prior. So Sin Loc leave the chorus and hook blank with no vocals.
Cheddar is a biographical song of Sin Loc's life. It's all about survival in the dope game even when that shit don't work. Ain't nothing funny when you're broke. Straight up reality here. This is another track laced with G-Funk beats. Black Jason and Lil D (Sin Loc's son) are featured on this song.
Straight From The Heart is a dedication song to Eazy-E that Sin Loc recorded some time Eazy-E passed away. Sin Loc came hard with the flow on this song because he meant that shit straight from the heart! That’s no joke. Sin Loc here interacts with Eazy-E in a spiritual manner as he has a heart to heart convo with him.

Rell - Medicine album review
Rell gives us Realistic Experience That's Lyrically Loved on this album called Rell - Medicine. Now Rell's not just another pretty face with a silken voice. He also writes his own lyrics. You can expect to hear sultry soul and heavy grooves on this album. He likes to use a medical analogy when discussing the album. Rell said, "Life is sick sometimes and you need medicine. It's time for a change in music."
Rell - Medicine is one of the two albums R&B singer Rell (Gerrell Gaddis) recorded in 1997 when he was signed to Elektra Records. Medicine was scheduled to be released in 1998. However this did not happen. This was because the label did not know how to promote R&B artists and the producers had disagreements with Rell himself. This album was supposed to be released on Elektra and Roc-A-Fella Records in 1998, but that never happened due to business politics. It's a shame this album didn't come out. Some of the songs from this album such as Love For Free were used on his other albums such as Ghetto and The Remedy.
According to a July 10, 1998 newspaper article from The Central New Jersey Home News, Medicine was scheduled to be released in 1998.
And he's giving his raps up to Rell, an acronym for a Realistic Experience That's Lyrically Loved. Rell, whose real name is Gerrell Gaddis, professes to be different than most of today's explicit "sex-you-up" R&B vocalists. "You can still (have sex) with somebody and respect them," Rell said, adding "that he frowns upon the labeling and demeaning of women as sex objects. "All of my songs are universal," Rell said. "They're for everyone of the planet. They're not about personal situations, but about life, lovers and friends whatever the case may be." The 21-year-old grew up in South Carolina, and attended Howard University in Washington, D.C., to study pathology on a scholarship. Unfortunately, a career in medicine didn't exactly agree.
"They took us into a (pathology) lab it was after eating," Rell said. "I couldn't get with that." Instead, Rell moved to Perth Amboy close to New York City to pursue a career in music. He's found his new home quite cozy. "Everybody supports each other (in Perth Amboy), and they survive like that," Rell said. "It's a community."
After moving, Rell became involved with the New York City-based production company Top Ten Entertainment. In turn, Top Ten introduced Rell to the Roc-A- Fella Records label, which is co-owned by Jay-Z. Upcoming, Rell has a small part in the Roc-A-Fella home-video release "Streets Is Watching," which stars Jay-Z, and he hopes to release a full-length album, "Medicine," in the future. He likes to use a medical analogy when discussing the album. "It's time for a change in music," Rell said. "Life is sick sometimes and you need 'Medicine.'
Somehow Someway was and is one of Rell’s most overlooked songs that is considered to be a masterpiece. Rell uses his breathtaking angelic vocals on this song. You can hear and feel the strength that is present in his vocals.
Somehow, someway, Rell has to have this woman in his life.
Honestly this song should have been chosen to be another one of his buzz singles to promote his debut album. But because the Roc did not know how to market R&B artists properly, the song ended up not being used as a single and was pushed to the side in favor of other songs such as Love For Free, If That’s My Baby, It’s Obvious, and Let Me Show U.
It’s truly a shame this song did not make the final track listing of his debut album because the song fit his breathtaking angelic neo-soul vocals, style, sound, and image. Rocafella dropped the ball with Rell and this song.
Say It Ain't So is a heartbreaking song about how Rell’s lover became a totally different person. The song Say It Ain't So is a tale of heartbreak, sadness, and betrayal. Say It Ain't So was produced by North Carolina producer Mike City.
All of this time Rell thought he was the only one that mattered to her. He was so convinced that they were headed in the right direction. Now it’s as if she were a totally different person. It’s as if she were someone else. She changed like the weather changes. Her kisses are cold as a winter freeze in Alaska.
Rell explains mysterious calls he has been receiving. There’s been so many different numbers. She never knew about the notes he found on the windshield of her car. Is this the kind of thanks he gets for loving her the way he did? Rell loved her faithfully. He tells her to keep her phony smiles. Her heart has been missing for a while. The picture has never been clearer.
Love For Free was the debut single off the Medicine album. The sultry, groove-heavy song features a rap by rap star Jay-Z. Love For Free was used on his other albums such as Ghetto and The Remedy.

Top Dogg - Disturb’n The Peace album review
Top Dogg - Disturb’n The Peace is one of the two albums Top Dogg recorded for Death Row Records when he was signed to the label. The album was scheduled to be released in 2004. However since people realized Top Dogg was biting off of Snoop Dogg was molded to become a carbon copy of Snoop Dogg, Suge realized this and canceled the album. However this album was released on a local level underground in Compton and Inglewood in 2004 as Top Dogg himself pressed up that album on CD-r. In other words, Disturb’n The Peace was released as an underground album instead. He did the same with his debut album Every Dog Has His Day.
Going Back To Cali was a diss song aimed at P Diddy (Sean Combs) and Bad Boy Records. Top Dogg was dissing P Diddy (Sean Combs) and Bad Boy Records on the song Going Back To Cali. The song was recorded in 1997 just a few months before The Notorious B.I.G. was killed. Top Dogg also disses Dr. Dre in the song.
Top Dogg says, “Fuck Bad Boy. Nigga, this is Death Row. They say they comin' back to Cali but they ain't comin' back to Cali.” Going Back To Cali was one of the hardest tracks on the album next to Cindafella and Trippin. Goin Back To Cali is one of his signature songs which was used on the Gang Related soundtrack.
The song samples Zapp - More Bounce To The Ounce. Now of course anyone can sample More Bounce To The Ounce by Zapp. Suge was trying to cash in on the throwback sound with this sample and song. 70s funk over 90s rap.
This is your captain once again. As we make our descent into Los Angeles, we hope you had a pleasant flight. The weather conditions are clear blue skies at 86ยบ F degrees and we'll be in the terminal in less than 30 seconds. Once again thank you for flying Death Row West.
Top Dogg is feeling good off the drink and the indo (marijuana). When the 9 ball hits your brain, there ain't nothin' left on the ground but a mothafuckin' blood stain. The return of the mothafuckin' riders. One deuce six Darkside Eastsidaz. Young G is a G with stamina. Ask ya bitch how it felt when Top Dogg was bammin' her. Top Dogg is in the streets but ridin' like he’s in jail. Death Row signed Top Dogg 25 with a L. You know the Row got Cali' on lockdown. O.F.T.B., Y.G.D. And Tha Dogg Pound.
Top Dogg disses Bad Boy Records in Verse 1 on with these lyrics.
Sucker suckin' on a lollipop lookin' cute
All the bitch nigga's missin' is a pink suit (gay ass niggas)
I'm feelin' good off the drink & the Indo
Fuck Bad Boy, nigga, this is Death Row
Top Dogg set the record straight about how Death Row was a giant in the music industry in the 1990s in Verse 2. Read these lyrics.
[Verse 2]
Fe fi fo fum (ha ha haaa)
get out the way bitch this where Death Row come
Lettin' niggas know it's a giant in the industry
(Tell 'em who you is young nigga) Y.G.D.
Suge Knight put a nigga on payroll
so you know I ain't gotta sell the f*ckin' yayo (that's right nigga)
no more as I'm smokin' on Indo
in a brand new 500 Benzo (that's right)
They say D let's roll to the studio (yeah)
and drop a smash on these mothaf*ckin foolios (f*ck these niggas)
I hear these fools gangsta hatin' on Makaveli (Pac)
sayin' Death Row is through oh nigga really?
You must not have heard about the brand new itinerary
(tell 'em about it)
we got a lock from December to January
If you ain't got yo' West Coast Death Row pass
(what we gon' do?)
you better leave town before we get yo' ass
They say they comin' back to Cali
but they ain't comin' back to Cali
Top Dogg is here to set the record straight about how Death Row is giant in the music industry. Fe fi fo fum. Get out the way, bitch. This where Death Row comes from. Top Dogg is letting you niggas know Death Row is giant in the music industry. Suge Knight put Top Dogg on payroll.
Flossed up looking clean. Top Dogg is smokin' on indo (marijuana) in a brand new 500 Mercedes Benz. He hears these fools are hating on Makaveli (2Pac) by saying Death Row Records is through. You fools must not have heard about the brand new itinerary. Death Row got a lock from December to January. If you ain't got your West Coast Death Row pass, you better leave town before they get your ass.
Top Dogg’s nigga Lo said Tha Row needs some gangsta shit. The real shit the bitch niggas don't fuck with. He’s ready to ride on you muthafuckin' bustas always rappin' about yo' Benz & yo' clusters
Top Dogg hangs with them crazy niggas straight out of Watts such as Lo-Flip and Bus Stop from O.F.T.B. (OFTB). Top Dogg puts it down every time with every rhyme of his every time. Because the gangsta shit makes a gang of chips. Gangsta rap forever.
That Top Dogg Nigga killed it on That Top Dogg Nigga regardless of him being a Snoop clone. His smooth flow is what made the rap sound so tight. This is dope G-Funk for real.
Bounce was a song that was taken from the album album The Relativez's - The Takeover which had been released in 2002. Bounce uses beautiful smooth West Coast style production behind some G-Funk from the legendary Steve Vicious AKA VMF (Vicious Man Funk). The production is crazy.

Petey Pablo - Same Eyez on Me album review
Some of you that were alive during the 2000s may remembered that Petey Pablo was once signed to Death Row Records and had recorded two albums for the label that were never released. Petey Pablo - Same Eyez on Me was one of the two albums he recorded for the label that was never released but was leaked online to the internet in 2009. The album was first bootlegged by For The People Entertainment, Tha Realist’s label. Since then, the album had been constantly bootlegged.
Petey Pablo - Same Eyez on Me was never released due to bad timing and lack of charting singles. The album was packaged as a crunk rap album instead of a tough lyrical hardcore gangsta rap album. The album is mediocre at best. Petey Pablo - Same Eyez on Me was one of those albums that never made any sense. Clearly Suge was attempting to ride off the past success the label once had due to being a powerhouse thriving with omnipotent talent. Suge was trying to make Petey Pablo the next 2Pac even though clearly he did not possess the same talent as 2Pac had. Most of these songs are laughable. The only goods songs are Push It Away and Everywhere I Go.
Petey raps about how he could never walk in the shoes of the dude 2Pac on Same Eyez On Me because he does not have same talent, lyrical ability, work ethic, prowess, or abilities as 2Pac had. Y'all can't see him no way no how. From the bottom to the top. He's here now to shut shit down. He knew what had to be done. He knew what had to it done. Which was writing and recording this song.
Petey raps about how he will pay his bills and pay off his debt on Everywhere I Go. His mother is worried because these houses and car payments have not been payed off yet. But Petey ain't out here just rapping. He’s about to be an actor. She knows her son is a hustler. Petey’s plans are to put his mother in a fancy condominium and pay off her debts. Petey got the streets wondering with this song of his he recorded on Death Row.

Jazzmatix - This is JAZZMATIX album review
Corney Mims and Domini Quinn SupaStar are Jazzmatix. Corney Mims and Domini Quinn SupaStar embarked on a project which they called Jazzmatix in 1997. They wrote an entire album called “This is JAZZMATIX”. The Jazzmatix - This is JAZZMATIX album is a jazz album Jazzmatix recorded for Death Row Records that was supposed to be released in the year of 1997. However the Jazzmatix never got released.
Here is what happened. Corney Mims and Domini Quinn SupaStar were on the verge of securing a major label record deal when Corney Mims drug addiction caused him to relapse. He was in a cracked out state of mind. This forced Jazzmatix to totally abandoned “everything” including this amazing album. The shame and guilt was overwhelming as it totally derailed the momentum they had amassed.
The Jazzmatix album was 25 years in the making ranging from 1997 to 2022. Jazzmatix now decided to pursue the vision they first set out to accomplish 25 years ago. The crazy dope thing is the recordings still sound just as good and relevant as they did in 1997. Now their album is on all digital platforms.
What U Manifest is a message of positivity reminding us that the energy and spirit in which we project will be reciprocated be it positive or negative. The song is a testament to goodness. This was the first single off the album.
This is Jazzmatix is a beautiful jazz rap song. This is Jazzmatix. Feel the static through your speaker. Jazzmatix takes us to another galaxy with the brehsiveness of Death Row’s production and sound. Feel the spirits. Get with this intellect that direct. The song was recorded in 1997. Brehsive is one word to describe the song.
Can't Get Enough uses some decent quality production and acoustics. You can definitely feel some saucy vibes coming from this song.
5/5*****!!
