This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will review Gangsta-Lation - Various Artists that was on Ronnie Ron's Dangerous Records. This double compilation was released in 2000. You will hear the urban sounds of Rap, Hip Hop, Soul, R&B, Jazz, Dancehall, Reggae, and Funk. The experience will be bittersweet yet joyful.
Geek & Noise (Captain Geek & DJ Noise) were rappers that did not make the Bangin' On Wax cut during the auditions in 1992, so they were accepted on board as producers for Dangerous Records at the time. They were a part of Tweedy's Underworld Connection (UWC) from 1991 to 1993 and then they split. They did have tracks they saved over the years for what was supposed to be for their debut album, which were unreleased and appeared on RRLGA for some reason. The tracks are Trickeration, The Game of Mack'N, Hittin' Switches, Buck 'Em Down, Do Your Thing, Got Dam They Ruthless, and Gangsta Style Rappin' were supposed to be for their debut album, but that didn't happen due to financial reasons with Dangerous Records.
Nini Says F-ck You is a remix and so is Comin' Out The Cage. I'm Calling You A Bitch gets cut off half way through the song at 2:04 and fades into silence for 4:02 minutes, which is a waste of time. To My Niggas Makin' Low Cheddar was a leftover from Fo Clips album. C-Alright is the remix with Genuine Draft in it from Bangin' On Wax: Greatest Hits. Wish You Were Here, Piru Love, and Steady Dippin' are radio edits. No More Mr. Nice Guy was a leftover from Nini X's album.
B Brazy's songs The Big Payback, Bitch Get Lifted, 2 Famous Dogs (To All Dogs), Outta to Get Paid (And Kill a Rip), I Kan Kill (A Krab), Nigga Jus't Klownin, and I Kame to Bang (Bring It On) were leftovers from The Braziak. Only 60 first presings of the CD supposedly exist. Possibly 1,000 copies total. Lil Hawk's leftover songs were A Lil Something From Da West Side, All My Niggas, 2 Famous Dogs (To All Dogs), Lil' Hawk, I Kan Kill (A Krab), Nigga Jus't Klownin, Sik Wit It, and Back To Reality were leftover the albums for Lil Hawk Red Riding Hood and Lil Hawk's self-titled album.
The songs My Mama Named Me Batman by D-Rock & The Bayou Crew (Get Some Of This Funk) has D. Rock shouting out "Yeah! We're aware of the time!" was about peace and unity, and Get Some Of This Funk (My Mama Named Me Batman) (Remix) has the same intro, but it has live outside sound. That is the end of the tape. Bullets Don't Have No Names is listed, but does not appear on tape. Probably a CD-only track for some reason. Bullets Don't Have No Names was the video version (Quiet Storm Mix) (Has some Reggae sound in it) as listed in the song credits. It was not the Radio Version, that is regular version.
I rate this compilation, Gangsta-Lation, 5/5*****!!
