Mixerr Album Reviews #778

This is Michael Mixerr. Today I will review Lil Ai - My Name is Ai again due to lack of attention.

[Lil Ai is a female pop singer from the Ryukyu Islands in Japan. Lil Ai (リルアイ) is Ai Kawamitsu (アイ川満愛) [Kawamitsu Ai (川満愛)].]
My Name is Lil Ai was released on Def Jam Japan in 2001. She was on her way to becoming an accomplished dancer and singer in the underground music scene in the country of Japan at the time of this record. This record sold 2,100 copies in the first week of release.

Born To Sing is the introductory song her very first debut album from 2001. Most of the song is very self-explanatory. Born To Sing explains how Lil Ai was born to sing. She explains she was born to sing. That is what she does and who she is. Some people don’t understand, but Lil Ai doesn’t care. She won’t stop singing.

The line "I was born to sing That's what I am" is pretty self-explanatory as Lil Ai puts it. That is what she does and who she is. She wants to make her dreams come true.

Inori explains how Lil Ai was born to sing. She explains she was born to sing. That is what she does and who she is. Some people don’t understand, but Lil Ai doesn’t care. She won’t stop singing. Ai asks the Lord up above for spiritual advice. She wants to make her dreams come true. Next we find Lil Ai wide awake at 4 AM in her bed. Ai wants to sleep, but she can’t. She asks and pleads the Lord up above for advice again. Over and over as the song comes to a closing point.

The line “They don't know what I've been through Yeah!! I don't care” sums up Lil Ai’s viewpoint of what other people in society think of as she does not care. She won’t stop singing. Lil Ai vented her frustration of society on this song by singing in harmony.

Lil Ai’s singing technique is a unique style of blending the Japanese language into the English language. She firsts sings in Japanese and she sings in English. Lil Ai transitions from using the Japanese language by transitioning to use the English language next and then back to using her native Japanese language again as usual. Her technique of singing is somewhat unique. Her charm in her singing makes people happy while certainly not too hardcore, her charm lies in the music. There is a youthful presence in her voice when it comes to singing. Her voice is super cute.

On the track My Name is Ai, Lil Ai is looking for someone to be down with her tonight. Will she find someone to be down with her tonight? Is she going to find someone to be down with her tonight? That someone to love. That someone to hang on to. All the girls say she will be forever along. All the boys tell her to ignore the haters. Her name is Lil Ai.

My Name is Ai is obviously orchestrated by Lil Ai to be a love song as that was probably her main intent. She really wants someone to be down with her tonight. My Name is Ai is not that self-explanatory as some would have you think so otherwise.

Shining Star is a Dance meets R&B track. Although Shining Star is an R&B track. Shining Star is a track that will make you want to dance all night long. Shining Star is almost very similar to slow jam quiet storm R&B and quite soothing at that.

Memory (Memorii) is a song that is sung in the Japanese language by a long shot. Although Lil Ai added bits of English words here and there in the song Memory. The song repeats itself at the end making the composition somewhat a repetitive song.

Lil Ai’s rapping and technique is a unique style of blending the Japanese language into the English language. Lil Ai transitions from using the Japanese language by transitioning to use the English language next and then back to using her native Japanese language again as usual. Her rapping is somewhat subpar though. Her rap is not the best. Her technique of rapping is somewhat versatile and yet hard to understand since she is rapping in Japanese making it difficult for English fans to understand. But you either like or don't like Lil Ai. That's the way it is and that's how she wants it. But you either like or don't like Lil Ai. That's from the fans point of view. That's the way it is and that's how she wants it. There's a melody to the tracks even if the beats are not catchy and horrible.

I rate this album, My Name is Ai, 4/5****!
