Mixerr Album Reviews #1,591

Evol - Satanic For Life is a very rare and obscure underground horrorcore rap album that was released on cassette in 1994 by Acidacide Recordings from Detroit, Michigan. Satanic For Life is very much similar to an Esham album. Many people consider Evol to be copying Esham and his style especially with this album. Some people think of Evol as a total rip off of Esham. The fact that acid rap and horrorcore rap sound similar to each other doesn’t help. However Evol is on his own independent label which is not affiliated with Esham in any way, shape, or form.

Satanic For Life is a classic acid rap album that was overlooked by music fans due to the likes of Esham, Natas, TNT, Mastamind, ICP, Violent J, and HOK.

The song Evil Poetry sounds very much similar to Esham. Evil Poerty is where acid rap meets horrorcore rap. Its looped bass line is quite repetitive and gets annoying at times, but you will get used to the repetitive bass line as the song progresses if you just focus on listening to the lyrics from his poetry. Throughout the song, Evol considers his poetry to be considered evil.

Shake 'M Down is a rap song about gambling. Evol talks about how he’s gotta get paid tonight at the very beginning. He expresses desire to play craps. Evol goes to outside to play a dice game and gamble.

Horrorcore rap meets the sounds of acid rap on the title track. Evol copies Esham on the Satanic 4 Life song. The fact that acid rap and horrorcore rap sound similar to each other doesn’t help. Satanic 4 Life is about worshipping Satan and celebrating the devil. His rhymes are Satanic rhymes. The vinyl scratches and production are dope! Satanic For Life is a dope song.

You Can't Hide is a mid-tempo but slight fast paced acid rap song with heavily distorted bass. The sound will surely rattle your speakers.

Devil Worshipper is a song that worships the devil. The song is also about celebrating the devil, worshipping Satan, and practicing Satanism hence the Satanic references. Evol copies Esham on the Devil Worshipper song as he does the others.

I rate this album, Satanic For Life, 4/5****.
