After several incidents of flooding, a handful of homes in the Fletcher neighborhood of Beaumont, Texas are being raised above ground. Home owners decided enough was enough after several occasions and incidents of flooding. They put their homes on stilts as people in New Orleans, Louisiana and Hawaii have. The flooding comes from nearby Neches River.
A home located at 430 Manning Street is a prime example of a home raised above ground. The interior of this single family home has been stripped down to the frame and was raised above ground in 2013. Now the house is held on a pier foundation type. This is to prevent water damage during flooding. The owner decided enough was enough. A decision was made by Beaumont City Council to demolish and/or either raise them. (Ref: https://www.trulia.com/p/tx/beaumont/430-manning-st-beaumont-tx-77703--2070381912)
