Cleanup of San Jose Cemetery No. 2. in process.

San Jose Cemetery No. 2 has become an illegal dump where household trash and furniture along with various other debris are being dumped. Trash has been dumped here for a number of years now. Residents and city officials have enough. City officials and county officials are now looking for answers.

Talks with City of Austin Code Compliance Department and Travis County were conducted about how to how to best clean up and document Montopolis Cemetery because the site has become an illegal dumpsite for trash. Officials from the City of Austin Code Compliance Department and Travis County are asking residents to help volunteer clean up this cemetery.

There is good news. Cleanup at this cemetery has already begun. Business owners and volunteer groups have offered to help clean up the cemetery. So cleanup work is being done. Dale Flatt of Save Austin’s Cemeteries said, “The site will soon be cleared.” The City of Austin Code Compliance Department and Travis County hope to have this cemetery cleaned up in a timespan of 2 months.
