Mixerr Album Reviews #2,224

The Duece 11 Gz demo is one of the best gangsta rap demos recorded in 1994 when gangsta rap and horrorcore was a high peak. Their entire demo has a dark brooding killer sound of course. Songs such as the highly terrifying Reign of Terror, insane Visionz of Insanity, the mischievous Criminal Mind, and the classic murderous track Murder One are what’s on this album. You have the funky track such as Get Down on the album as well.

The Duece 11 Gz demo was recorded in 1994 at Boomin Studios off of Dort Highway in Flint, Michigan. The recording process lasted from 1994 to 1995 with 7 songs were recorded. All of Duece 11 Gz songs were recorded at Boomin Studios off of Dort Highway. The Duece 11 Gz album never got around to being completed.

Duece 11 Gz demo was issued on cassette as a studio dub in 1994. Only people who part of the Revelation Family or part of the Boomin Records inner circle got this demo. Not too many copies of this demo album exist at all. There is no Duece 11 Gz CD and there never will be. The Duece 11 Gz demo was only issued on cassette.

Now Duece 11 Gz is King Hood Cykoz under a different name and they did not record as many songs as King Hood Cykoz did. They only recorded 7 songs.

Titan says it trips him out that most rap fans like Duece 11 Gz more than King Hood Cykoz because Duece 11 Gz did not record as many songs as King Hood Cykoz had recorded. Most rap fans like Duece 11 Gz more than King Hood Cykoz or UKG. Even more than the King Hood Cykoz demos that were passed out on cassette in Flint, Michigan. This is because their sound was gangster as fuck and higher quality in production. Their sounded was definitely colder. People went crazy when Anybody K came out. Bruce regrets that the album never got around to being completed.

Not many people know this but the Duece 11 Gz demo is what inspired Variety of Sinz to record their sophomore album Hellavish : Blaze For The New Year in 1994. Dwonne Daylove even sampled Titan’s voice on Can You Hang? and Double Up from his verse on Anybody K. That was the coldest shit he ever made. Titan, Bruce, and Randy regret that the album never got around to being completed or mastered.

Here is how Duece 11 Gz formed.

King Hood Cykoz became Duece 11 Gz in 1994 after Titan discovered a group from Ohio ganked (stole) their style. Titan called originally named Duece 11 Gz "211" before realizing there was another rap group by that name.  So he decided to change the name of the group from King Hood Cykoz to Duece 11 Gz. He did so his group wouldn’t be confused with 211 and Swift D. However the group did not last as long as King Hood Cykoz did. Duece 11 Gz split in 1996 due to many different reasons. Members went on to join other rap groups in Flint while others changed careers. Titan was Ovadose, Bruce was Leathaface, and Randy was Dr. Jekyll.

The intro is a very hypnotic intro. These lyrics make the song hypnotic and terrifying yet they compel people to listen to Duece 11 Gz.: “Ooh/Let’s call it revenge/Look at me and tell me what you see” These lyrics are said in a deep vocal tone in a dark manner.

Titan was inspired by Snoop Dogg when he recorded the intro with DJ Clay in 1994. A sample of Snoop Dogg’s vocals are used in the intro which are “Take this 211 to another level”. The intro samples Snoop Dogg - Serial Killa. 211 is the California penal code for robbery.

RUN begins with Leathaface speaking over eerie G-Funk synths produced by DJ Clay. Leathaface does most of the talking on RUN. Leathaface came with the wicked shit for the 94. Titan is the one saying, “Run nigga run/Don’t fuck with a 2-1-1/211/211/211” all over the place. RUN is sort of an intro even though there is already an intro in place.

The terrifying Reign of Terror is one of the darker songs with a religious vibe. Not to mention eerie. Reign of Terror is perfect to add to a soundtrack for a horror movie. So step into the reign of terror with Duece 11 Gz.

Reign of Terror begins with a preacher telling the congregation to be seated and open their prayer guides to the book of revelations to Psalm 69. The prayer guides are bibles.

One time for ya mind. Leathaface comes again. Look at his wicked sins. Niggas can’t hang because they know they can’t hang. You can’t and don’t understand a nigga that is strange in the brain. Tell me why Leathaface has bloodstains on his shoestrings. Leathaface is a born killa. Run, don’t hide. He is loosing his mind. Drinking wine in the sunshine. Leathaface is kicking wicked rhymes that are sending chills down your spine. So hear him rhyme as he fucks up your stereo. You can’t cope with a cyko. Don’t set trip. He didn’t come to bullshit. He came to wreck shit.

Dr. Jekyll is a maniac chilling in a Cadillac. Smoking a joint and drinking Cognac with a gat in his hand. Fucking up the program. You can’t listen to a nigga who is on the edge of insanity and madness. Take a look at his table. There is an ax at his table. Dr. Jekyll rides 20 deep.

When he kills, he kills at will. Can’t stop what’s already done. Those with weak minds need to stay away. Guess who’s back with a fat ass joint? Ovadose is. Ovadose is lonely. Why? Because he wants to die. He is on the edge of insanity and madness the way Dr. Jekyll is. That is why.

Anybody K (Westside Killa) is one of the murderous songs influenced by murder and gangsta rap. The whole song has an eerie vibe with dark cold sound. The song is similar to Variety of Sinz - Murder One and Brotha Lynch Hung - Back Fade. Titan is the one saying, “Run nigga run/Don’t fuck with a 2-1-1/211/211/211” during the hook.

Niggaz are set trippin’ everyday where Leathaface stays. His mind is playing tricks. Being on the run has got him loading up his clip to his gun. Police want him dead as they want to take his life. The West Side ain’t nothing nice.

Leathaface, Dr. Jekyll, Lunatic, and Ovadose are rolling 4 deep getting ready to do a drive by. Leathaface rolled down the window and pulled out a Tech. He starts shooting. Hit the deck because he plans to wipe out your whole set. His click ain’t afraid to set trip. It’s another murder. A 187. Everybody get low and get down. It’s the reign of terror from the West Side of town. Leathaface is a soul seeker and a menace to society. Drinking Hennessy with the Revelation Family.

Criminal Mind was a song recorded by Leathaface in 1995. Titan was not on this song because he was attending college in Vermont. That is why Criminal Mind was a Leathaface solo.

Murder One is quite similar to Murder One On A Punk Muthafucka by Tweedy Bird Loc. Murder One is a track about committing murders. Think murder rap. 40 Fiend and DJ Clay produced the track using a handful of samples.

Murder One is different from the Variety of Sinz version of Murder One which was included on their 1993 debut album Wicked AZ Kimistry. The difference is the presence of Titan as he has actual verses on the song instead just being on the hook. This version of Murder One is the original. The Variety of Sinz version of Murder One is a remix which only features Titan on the hook.

The funky Get Down was influenced by the funky sounds of Kool & The Gang. That is no coincidence as Get Down samples Kool & The Gang - Jungle Boogie. Gangsta rap meets the sound of funk and rock on Get Down. Now Get Down was recorded in 1995 when Titan was attending college in Vermont. That is why Titan is not on the song.

211 is kicking down your front door. So everybody get down as Leathaface comes with some wicked ass sounds. Once again it’s the era of the wickedness. He gets wicked for all them niggaz in the ghetto. Fuck radio play anyway. He would rather get high on a bloody day. He rocks the mic in mysterious ways. You gotta pay to see Leathaface rock the stage. So get down before Leathaface blows you down.

Leathaface is the darkness of town. Niggaz want to be down with the 211 sound coming out of Flint Town. Blaze up another bowl. Don’t jump as he packs a pump.

Lifelinez is one of the more darker morbid Duece 11 Gz songs. The song has a grim sound and vibe to the fact that this Duece 11 Gz is death themed. The song uses samples from the movies Blade Runner, Pulp Fiction, and Akira.

The song starts off a sample from the movie Pulp Fiction which asks us, “Oh I’m sorry. Did I break your concentration?” Leathaface goes first. Leathaface is bringing pain to your brain from the cells that he crushes. He remade your mind from his lyrics like angel dust. Leathaface is goin for broke. That’s why he busts on niggaz. He’s out cold because his temper is about to explode. 17 rhymes is what he unloads. You the music he makes because he makes. You’re scared of his style because he is a deadly lyricist.

Evil like a reptile. He’ll mutilate your whole body and burn it up in a lake. It’s a must that he makes muthafuckaz believe. Only God he trusts. His lifelines are past time. There’s no remorse or grief. Best believe his body is numb. So all he does is smoke weed in a room by himself and asks the Lord for forgiveness. Leathaface is an alcoholic doing devious shit such as murderous shit. That is what the lyrics “devious shit like murderous shit” mean. Now they’ve got Leathaface locked behind bars. Now his eyes bleed tears from the permanent scars.

Ovadose would rather be dead. It’s his wish. He is lead by the blind. So can you hand him his head? He wants to feel you from inside. Ride his lifelines. Then we play suicide. Ovadose wants to die. Would you die for him? Close your eyes. Ovadose is a mystery.

He would rather lose himself to find himself but he’s still lost all by himself. Ovadose asks Heaven to send him an angel. He is goin thru a thang. Weird and insane is what he is. T-Gram is never the same. He needs some therapy. He’s been in therapy but therapy is not helping him. He would rather be alone since he’s been alone. Don’t leave him home alone. There’s something really wrong. Look at him in a coffin where his body lays.

What would life be without a real life rhyme? There would be no cold crushin’ or no disfunction. But he is still here. He got AIDS and a child on the way. He asks the Lord to take him as he doesn’t want to be here. He honestly doesn’t care as he won’t survive. You haven’t got a clue what he’s going through. What would life be without a real life rhyme? What would life be without lifelines?

Ovadose asks for his death wish to be granted. The song ends with samples from the move Blade Runner and a flat line.

Here is what happened to Duece 11 Gz. Duece 11 Gz had split in 1995 due to a variety of different reasons. Members went on to join other groups. Some even formed their own groups.

•The main reason was a lack of financial investment towards releasing their music. That was the biggest issue for Duece 11 Gz. Never having the money to invest towards releasing their music. Duece 11 Gz hadn't made any money because of that.

•Rap was looked at as a secondary hobby to the members in the group. Many members in this group were drug dealers, pimps, and hustlers. It was the streets before the rap.

•The other reason was Titan leaving Flint to go to college in Vermont. Him leaving Flint ultimately led to breaking up. This would also cause things to go into a downward spiral thus leading towards a split.

Here is where the members of Duece 11 Gz are today.

•Titan now lives in North Carolina. He moved from Flint in 1995. He no longer records as many songs as he used since he has fallen out of love with music. Titan has gone through homelessness since Duece 11 Gz disbanded.

•Bruce Moore is Leathaface/Chainsaw. He is no longer the same person he was back in the 90s since he is a man of God. He still lives in Flint.

•Randy Jamison was Lucifa/Dr. Jekyll/J Roc. Randy passed away from cancer on 03/15/2019 at 46 years old. Randy was in a group with Bruce called Variety of Sinz. Him, Marc Steele, and Titan were the best of friends. He was in King Hood Cykoz also.

I rate this album 5/5*****!!

*Duece 11 Gz is sometimes referred to as Deuce 11 Gz.
*Titan called Duece 11 Gz "211" before discovering or realizing there was another rap group by that name.
*Duece 11 Gz is King Hood Cykoz under a different name. Duece 11 Gz served as the successor group after the breakup of King Hood Cykoz.
