Local residents and volunteers gathered on December 27, 2020 to fill up Jollyville Road Cave with rocks and boulders in an effort to prevent vandalism and curve pollution. That is because the Jollyville Road Cave is located next to a set of caves which makes the landscape an uneven surface and a safety hazard for the curious and unaware.
Several access points have been filled in with rocks. Volunteers loaded rocks from cars and trucks as several motorists watched from Jollyville Road. Only a narrow crawl space remains as all other entry points and access points have been filled in with rocks. They seem to be aware of the caves alongside Jollyville Road in Northwest Austin as they have had at least 2 caves gated shut. Contractors have hired to fill in any remaining entry points to Jollyville Road Cave.
At least 2 caves remain gated shut and 3 more caves have been filled on the surrounding land in by residents, volunteers, and contractors. Most of the cave protection work has been completed.
