Mystery and history behind a former water slide one located at Mopac and US 183 revealed.

Not too many people know this but there used to be a water slide on the hill at Mopac and US 183 more or less where the Holiday Inn is today. This water slide was one single slide which was operated by Swim-A-Day between 1984 to 1993. Many children claimed the water slide was great. The greatness of this water slide is what fulfilled their enjoyment. The facility had an indoor pool where swimming lessons were taught and held.

This water slide went down side by side and you had to ride on a mat. Many customers went airborne while riding on those mats down the water slide. They would go airborne over those bumps sometimes. There were not a lot of safety concerns back in the 80s though despite a couple of waterparks in the Austin area being shut down due to lawsuits. Those types of slides were popular in a lot of cities during that era. Not just in Austin. Demolition for this water slide begin in 1993 and ended in 1994.

This water slide was located at 8901 Business Park Drive, Austin, Texas, US 78759.
